QUOTE
The BBC has opened the submissions process to find the next British entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine.

The public broadcaster has announced that all submitted entries will be carefully considered and shortlisted by representatives of OGAE UK. At the same time, they are also searching possible entries from professional songwriters, with counseling from the Record Industry Executive and Music Consultant for the BBC, Hugh Goldsmith, who is looking for songs that can make an impact on the audience.

The BBC’s Eurovision head of delegation, Guy Freeman, has stated that this is the moment for anyone who believes they’ve written an outstanding song that could win over the hearts and minds of the TV viewers. The best songs from all of those submitted will compete in next year’s edition of Eurovision: You Decide, details of which will be announced later in the year.

If you are willing to take a chance and represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, email the title of the song, the name of your artist and the name of the composers to this email address BBCEurovisionSubmissions@bbc.co.uk, the deadline is November 1st .

Glad to see that despite Joe & Jake's disappointing televote result the BBC are giving the national final another shot.

Doubtful. My biggest hope is that the show has better sound than last time, Katrina sounded like she was shouting/spitting down the microphone and it generally sounded amateur, which was a shame because they clearly put more effort into the presentation.

Excited to see the quality of the entries next year. Here's hoping there's at least one Dulcima.

We're going to need to keep a tracker of rubbish Brexit jokes for the entirety of this UK Eurovision season methinks.

I seem to remember we were saying that this year the national final felt quite Denmark, well that may be stepping up a gear for 2017 as Emmelie de Forest is involved in a Copenhagen writing camp for the UK Eurovision entry.

Give us another Never Alone please and I'll promise we'll select it!!!!

Obviously not going to be true, but apparently Natasha Bedingfield has submitted a song as she is planning a relaunch in the UK next year. Only another couple of months to go of what will become a never-ending rumour mill...

Well in fairness her career is dead enough that I can see that having a reasonable chance of actually being true

Natasha Bedingfield would be a great choice with the right song, it would be lovely to have some established acts taking part rather than unknowns.

Will be on BBC Two on Jan 27 - so no longer relegated to BBC 4 or the red button!

Really early selection this year! Maybe the BBC want to make sure it becomes a big streaming hit before May (laugh.gif)

Great to see it on BBC2 biggrin.gif

And at the Hammersmith Apollo as well so it shouldn't sound quite so cavernous when they throw to the obligatory panel of "experts"

Indeed, I'm tempted to go this year but am still traumatised by Katrina spitting down the microphone for an hour last year. The early signs suggest they're taking it more seriously this time though.

Have no idea what I'm working that day yet, hope there are seats left in a couple of weeks laugh.gif heehee.gif

Don't want to get my hopes up too much but BBC 2, Hammersmith Apollo, earlier than last year...all signs that the standard will be better unsure.gif? The date probably has no bearing on it, but this way it seems less of an afterthought and feels like they're more ready to go rather than needing another month to come up with some mediocre songs.

Fantastic to see it upgraded to BBC2, perhaps the semi finals will be as well this year?

Promising indications for the UK ohmy.gif I'm not going to raise hopes too high so I'm not disappointed when the B-sides are released but this looks a lot more organised than we've been for some time.

I'd doubt the BBC would upgrade to a much larger venue without at least one familiar face? Not that I'm suggesting a well know face = a decent tune, but an all round better round up of tunes and general spectacle is surely a reasonable expectation?

I'm not going to Kiev next year (I'm getting hitched!), but I think a weekend trip to London instead may soften that blow...

I suppose it might give SOME credence to the Nattasha Beddingfield rumour.

I think I read on the BBC site that they're still planned for BBC4, unless they do a U turn
