I shall be keeping an eye on alt-J in the iTunes chart this week. Hoping they can snatch a top 40 single this week.

Another boring chart next week, I can only see 1 new entry - Jessie J & Co - unless something else pops up mid week. I just don't think its #1 material myself though, its feels like its going to peak at #2.
George Ezra might get a shot of the top 3 by Sunday, with the Graham Norton performance (Friday)
Jessie J chats on Alan Carr with Ella Eyre performing.

think Bang Bang is easily heading for 100k+ this week (despite not many others thinking so ;o). as the great Sheik Abdul would say; Memba I told you!!!
hope 'I Know' can make the top 20 at least, liking it more than Touch
Posted by: Ryan. 20th September 2014, 11:09 PM
I'm not sure where I expected 'Mirror Man' to enter, maybe top 30? It's hard to judge where instant grats will enter of course due to their albums not appearing on the singles chart.

officially #teamREDLIGHT this week though
LET'S PARTY LIKE IT'S NINETEEN NINE-TEE TEE TEE TEE

Kele Okereke has a new single out called "Doubt" which is missed off that release list, but I 'doubt' it'll make the chart to be honest. Let's hope Aphex Twin inexplicably gets his entire album in the Top 40 too.
Posted by: Dobbo 20th September 2014, 11:17 PM
Shift K3Y has pleasantly surprised me. I didn't he could outdo Touch but I am loving I Know right now. Top 10 probably a stretch which is a shame.

'Mirror Man' did take a while to show up over on New Zealand iTunes so maybe we'll have to wait until tomorrow morning for that to enter.
Posted by: gavindeejay 20th September 2014, 11:48 PM
Looks like we'll have another God awful Number 1 next week. I wish the UK would stop supporting Jessie J so we can have some peace and quiet from her screeching!
Posted by: JosephStyles 20th September 2014, 11:50 PM
Am I the only one who's actually a Jessie fan here? As a person she's pretty intolerable but I really like her music and Bang Bang is definitely one of her best.
Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 20th September 2014, 11:53 PM
I like Bang Bang but for me it doesn't feel like a number 1 Jessie really needs to go back to her first era- Nobody's Perfect, Price Tag and Do It Like A Dude are all 11/10 [and possibly even Domino/ Who You Are] and the rest of the album is pretty much 9 or 10
Anyway hoping Taylor somehow gets a new peak this week
Posted by: Herbs 20th September 2014, 11:53 PM
good to see jessie j number one. good song
Posted by: Dobbo 20th September 2014, 11:55 PM
I liked Bang Bang at first but's been so overplayed I can barely stand it anymore. Nicki's part is the best.
Posted by: Sheikh Abdul 21st September 2014, 12:18 AM
What a boring and uninspiring number one.
Posted by: Chez Wombat 21st September 2014, 12:23 AM
Bang Bang is pretty dire, I only really like the part of the chorus that sounds like Wake Me Up Before You Go Go. Not entirely happy at that outcome and there doesn't seem to be much else of interest going on this week so yeah.
Posted by: Sheikh Abdul 21st September 2014, 12:25 AM
I hope Shift K3y can get into the top 10 somehow.
Posted by: { bré } 21st September 2014, 12:28 AM
'Bang Bang' is a weird song, the Wham! sample (or similarity if it isn't a sample) doesn't fit the rest of the song at all. Jessie is thankfully not too screechy on it but she doesn't exactly contribute much and neither does Ariana, I quite like the Nicki part I guess but definitely an average and unnecessary #1. And Jessie really should just stop existing in general still.

'Bang Bang' to sell over 120k please! Such a great song. Jessie had a bit of a meh 2nd era, but this era is off to a promising start for me. Although 'Alive' is one of those albums where I forget how much I enjoy it until I actually listen to it.

Nobody on Buzzjack is going to know why Bobby Shrmurda is.
I'm a bit suprrised that Carrie Underwood is top 40 on UK iTunes. I assume it's X Factor.
And also, the JLo Iggy video is awesome, but I still think the Shakira/Rihanna video is the best of 2014. It's not as explicit but it's classier.
Posted by: Addy K!ng 21st September 2014, 05:37 AM
Yeah, I don't get why most of UK members in here hates their very own Jessie J and Rita Ora. They are both amazing to me and I am glad Jessie is having a proper hit everywhere at this moment.
Posted by: SLlewellyn 21st September 2014, 07:06 AM
I'm all for Jessie J getting another #1, sure, but "Bang Bang" is pretty poor imo. Nice to see the like of Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj gain a chart topper in the UK from it though; just hopeful that there's better stuff on the third album.
Shift K3Y to gain a T10 hit with "I Know" please, so good!
Posted by: Therm• 21st September 2014, 07:40 AM
I'm on team Shift K3Y this week, really hoping 'I Know' can sneak a top 20 place this week although it's unlikely.
'Bang Bang' is quite good, Jessie's had better songs before though. Nicki Minaj getting her first UK #1 though
And of course I'm rooting for Power Music Workout to go top 40 officially.

Eurgh at the prospect of Jessie J going to no.1 on my birthday. Worst birthday no.1 ever.

Bang Bang is actually my favourite Jessie single to date, it's pretty anthemic.
Posted by: T Boy 21st September 2014, 08:08 AM
I wonder if she'll still claim the UK don't appreciate her voice when she gets another no.1...
Posted by: ▬Mart!n▬ 21st September 2014, 08:27 AM
Not the best #1, it was rather a predictable one. The rest of the new entries are not really my cup of tea, I like the previous track by Shift K3y, I Know goes nowhere for me.

When she needs the support of two very popular female artists (one recently nabbing her own #1) and requires a very delayed built up release to get it, she could still go with that claim. I am sure she will be talking about how 'amazing' the UK fans are until single #2 comes out. I really hope she pulls out a decent song with the second single and not It's My Party which was just terrible. Jessie has put out some brilliant singles (Thunder/Domino are my favourites), but she also released a few duds.

So glad Jessie is number 1! Absolutely love her, wish she would go back to her first album sound but I suppose that was 4 years in the making. There is not one song on her first album that I don't like, for me they could have all been singles.
Also currently loving Shift K3Y!

Agreeing with Addy K!ng in that I fully support both Rita and Jessie and think their amazing. SO happy to be seeing Jessie getting her third number one, her voice is flawless. Also, potential record holder for UK female artist with the most UK number ones?
I'm extremely happy to be seeing Nicki getting her first number one, and to be seeing Ariana gained her second as well. Bang Bang is a tune.
I, for one, don't get the Jessie hate and think she's hilarious as a person, I just can't fathom how somebody could fine her 'intolerable'. Anyway, yay for Bang Bang, hopefully Burning' Up wil be able to replicate the success next month.

Well, if http://instagram.com/p/tIbiIkw0dP/?modal=true is anything to go by, it looks like Jessie J feat. 2 Chainz is actually going to happen. It is however helmed by Max Martin again so we should be in for a good chorus, but I'm a bit sceptical so far! She's releasing it just less than 2 months after Bang Bang however which seems a dud move considering it's just peaked and re-peaked in America and Australia respectively!
1. Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang 1.0000 1.0000 2. Sigma - Changing (feat. Paloma Faith) 0.5543 0.6281
Big increase on Sigma, I wonder if Jessie & Co. could be in for 100k+ this week?

That sounds ok based off of the snippet, but will wait for the whole thing as hard to judge an entire song off of 15 seconds. She is definitely sticking with the American sound. Going a lot more sexual with her stuff too (no doubt something her US label are encouraging).

I'm really hoping this revival of Jessie's career is just down to the other 2 artists on the song and she'll resume her terminal decline afterwards. Unless she can start releasing good songs again of course (I still really like 'Wild' and I've never hated 'Price Tag' though it is rather old now) but I think that's unlikely.
Posted by: JAY17 21st September 2014, 01:00 PM
I find 'Wild' to be Jessie J's best single, with 'Price Tag' pretty harmless.
I can't stand the over the top "shouting" in most of her songs.

Redlight's new song sounds really really familiar, I first heard it on the radio last night and thought it was a classic from 10 years ago!

What decline ? ok her 2nd album didn't do as good as her 1st album but it didn't flop disastrously . Jessie has always been pretty popular in the UK and her singles have done pretty decently . Don't really get the hate for her on here either tbh I mean I know she's not the perfect popster but she's not THAT bad or as bad as some people make out she is on here.

I don't hate Bang Bang because it's preachy, it's just a racket. The only songs I've liked from Jessie J are Thunder, Do It Like a Dude is tolerable too. Price Tag's preachiness really annoys me these days.

Each to their own and all that but prosaic is surely the last word you can use to describe Bang Bang as a huge fan of the dance #1s this year :/ I can see why people would call it shouty, but never prosaic... The people hating on Bang Bang are so predictable, seriously I knew Ethan and Jay17s responses before I even came into this thread. Dont worry, I am sure another faceless dance song will be #01 soon for you to collectively jizz over.
Please grow up.
You always seem to have a problem with me for some reason when others have clearly echoed my opinion before and after and I've held back and turned a blind eye to your immaturity, due to the fact I'm assuming you're rather young and so on...
I like "faceless dance music", you like screechy female "poptastic" artists; let's leave it at that.
I could take a good guess at what your response would be to a number of songs but I re-frame from posting it, let alone naming your username on a post.

I just find it boring and tedious personally. You have a habit of stating an opinion like it is a fact. There is no need to be so patronising either.

Wow, the irony in saying that I'm patronizing and then reading your last comment...
If you find my posts so boring and tedious then I'd suggest scrolling past my posts when seeing my name, might be worth trying.
Now you get off to bed fella, you probably have school in the morning.

28. Carrie Underwood- I Know You Won't
If this continues to maintain its position around the 21-30 region throughout the week. It could be Top40 on Sunday possibly.
271. Jennifer Lopez ft Pitbull- Booty
Any news on the version with Iggy Azalea in it going to be released here? Definitely all that "Booty" in that erotic music video.
Posted by: JosephStyles 22nd September 2014, 08:39 AM
The lack of new entries in general could mean that Carrie gets a play on the chart update at least!

This is holding on nicely. Still such a shame it peaked at 11. 3rd week top 20 this week, hopefully.

I'm pretty miffed 'Bang Bang' is on lock for #1, though I knew it'd happen all along.
It's not so much that the song is bad, but Jessie's vocal on it is excruciating.
Posted by: donnahjaneymack 22nd September 2014, 11:23 AM
It's good to see Jessie J back and being a contender for next Sunday's no1!
Oh yes, and I was absolutely thrilled that "Take Me To Church" by Hozier finally broke the UK Top 40 last night. I have been raving about this song for almost a year to anyone who will listen and telling them how amazing it is! It was a massive hit here in Ireland, and I hope it will replicate its success in the UK and climb really high. I will be watching its progress on the live updates with interest!

01. Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - "Bang Bang" (and #51) 11. Power Workout Mix - "All About That Bass" 13. Shift K3Y - "I Know" 16. Ella Henderson - "Mirror Man" 34. Redlight - "9TS (90s Baby)"
59. alt-j - "Every Other Freckle" 67. alt-j - "Hunger of the Pine" 71. alt-j - "Warm Foothills" 72. alt-j - "The Gospel of John Hurt" 79. alt-j - "Garden of England - Interlude" 80. alt-j - "Left Hand Free"
Hopeful that streaming can really benefit these alt-j tracks, would love for "Every Other Freckle" to hit the T40 officially somehow; though "Hunger of the Pine" deserves/deserved to be their first.
32. Duke Dumont "Won't Look Back" - OUCH!

Jessie J new single Burnin Up has premiered ft 2 Chainz..its released tomorrow worldwide(except UK and Ireland),her album is releases the 10th of October, so it should be released in the next week or 2..that means Bang Bang and this will be released within 2 weeks of each other..will Bang Bang not overshadow it?,she will def have 2 singles in the top 10 at once anyway..

I'm not a huge fan of alt-J's new stuff but as they're the biggest current artist to not have a top 40 hit to their name they deserve it for the purpose of reflecting their popularity.

Agreed, definitely has more 'oomph'. The original doesn't seem to have any official remixes yet but I do hope there's one that sounds like the Workout mix (doubtful but still).

'Say Something' must be one of Simon Cowell's favourite songs. He used it last year for his winning act on the US X Factor, it's been used prominently on this year's X Factor and now Ella Henderson has covered it in the Live Lounge.

The song only works when someone puts all their emotion into it and has a personal connection. With X Factor winner singles it isn't the case ('Hallelujah' aside imo) so yeah, wouldn't work.

I think it's just because Capital is playing it? In 2011 they'd never have played a song like this, but this type of music has done well in the charts this year, so they're probably more open to playing these kinds of snogs now. In the top 40 we've had:
Kid Ink - Show Me Iggy Azalea - Fancy will.i.am - Feelin' Myself will.i.am - It's My Birthday Trey Songz - Na Na
I feel like another one made top 40 too but I can't remember which one (I actually forgot Na Na even charted until you mentioned it).

Just noticed:
#49/71/77/171/331 Cilla Black - Anyone Who Had a Heart! thanks to the brilliant 'Cilla' series!
To see this go top 40 on Sunday would be amazing...it's never going to happen but a guy can hope
(is it wrong that I really like this though I wish ITV would release Sheridan Smith's version on a soundtrack as it would be less shameful seeing Sheridan's name than Cilla Black!!)

This is very random. There are literally hundreds of US R&B type songs that never even make the UK top 100 but this one could potentially chart quite highly. Probably the most random chart hit of the year along with Na Na.
Isn't Jeremih the radio 1 "TOTD" today? Which would explain why it's top 200.

I kinda wish they would release a digital EP on iTunes of her versions of the songs! I bet it would have gone straight in the top 10! (Sheridan Smith getting a top 10 would be a well welcomed shock!) ITV missed a HUGE marketing ploy there!

I'm shocked they didn't release Sheridan's versions. Surely someone must have seen that opportunity! I'd imagine they must be thinking about it now that Cilla's version is charting.
Hope they do, I love Sheridan.

Yeah that be amazing! When the announcer said about pre ordering the series and 'download' I was hoping they meant they were releasing an Life On Mars/Ashes To Ashes style soundtrack CD...now if only this had been made for the BBC it could have happened but sadly I think they've missed such a big opportunity...
But the maybe that wasn't their intention in the first place

I'm not really particularly keen on 'Zombie' either, it's growing on me slightly but very disappointing compared to previous singles. 'Don't You Find' on the other hand is great. I'm happy to see him doing well anyway, after being away for years I wasn't sure he'd manage to make any impact with his comeback.

I don't ever listen to Christmas songs in any month of the year except December (except when one of them is on a best sellers countdown on R1 then I can ironically love them for one listen) . It just doesn't feel right plus by the new year I get sick of the amount of overplay they get.
Looking forward to Fairytale Of New York re-appearing in the chart anyhow Streaming should benefit it too

One More Sleep is very AIWFC for me a bit to bubblegum style pop.
Heres some of the TV acts this weekend -
Jools Hozier & Mary J to name a few Alan Carr - Jessie J chatting & Ella Eyre performing Comeback Graham Norton George Ezra hopefully performing Blame it on Me!

Leona's record label should promote the song again this year as if it's a new release. If they do that for a few years it could end up taking off by itself afterwards every year and that would be a very good investment for them.

All it needs is radio airplay and big streaming support. The streaming shouldn't be a problem if its put on Spotify adverts/placed on some Christmas compilations. They just need to ensure some radio airplay somehow.

180. Ella Eyre - Comeback
I wonder if this could "do a Nicole Scherzinger ('Your Love')"? Hope so!

For me it's all about The Pogues, even though my mum says its depressing I think it's great. I would like to see this in the top 40 but with streaming I'm not sure if it will
If I'm reading this right... you must be joking? Streaming is going to HELP it as the Xmas songs dominate on streaming, I could see it potentially making the top 10 again this year considering it's not been too far off the last few times. Unfortunately streaming will favour Mariah more though, so we can probably say goodbye to The Pogues ever being ahead of her again.

Leona's record label should promote the song again this year as if it's a new release. If they do that for a few years it could end up taking off by itself afterwards every year and that would be a very good investment for them.
Considering Leona has now left her old Syco label and moved to island, I doubt there will be any forms of promo happening this season, but I am sure it will get tv and radio plays still. Just a case of seeing whether people get behind it with downloads and streaming this time around. I am hoping it gets picked up for one of the many Xmas tv ads that go around. Co-op playing Gabriella Cilmi's Warm This Winter has done that song wonders as far as longevity is concerned.

I'm so made up! Either way it should comfortably outpeak 'If I Go' now at least?
Top 10 would be excellent!

I think "If I Go" peaked in the top 140 on pre orders. Would love her to finally get that solo top 10 hit. I hope streaming helps out this time.

'Comeback' is a hell of a lot better than 'If I Go' but I don't think either really sound like hits, I guess 'Comeback' could go top 10 at a push but I don't see it sticking around much longer than 'If I Go'. She'd have been better off sticking to drum n bass I think.

I think Ella will miss the top 10 next week though I can see the track doing similarly to If I Go and being top 10 for a few days but falling out by the end of the week!

No! What gave you the impression? His vocals were visibly different to the studio version.
Anyway, Taylor has moved an inch closer to 2 after SIO's feature on Strictly but it hasn't increased its percentage much. It's pulling further and further away from Calvin at 4 nonetheless.

Taylor is just scraping #2 now when you combine both her versions (#3 and #91).
She got a nice increase this morning; hopefully that will continue as the day progresses. Anyway, her #3 position on the official charts tomorrow is pretty much on lock.

They only get away with it because the EU Law allows them to make cover versions. It states that if the original version is officially released in just one of the member countries than they are free to issue these covers.
I know they're allowed to, but we've seen various covers reach the top 100, which were also legal, but they got deleted too

You can't preview pre orders, but its still top 20 and will be number one next week
It will have sales of 100k+ sadly but cover versions don't always have a negative impact I.e the year Maroon 5 released Payphone the cover went top 10 bit the original still went on to go to number one on sales of about 140k
The one good thing about covers is that it shows there is demand for a track and that held back releases need to be changed

If the Chamber by Lenny Kravitz says around the number 50 position or just above at the end of next week, he might just crack the top 40 Friday night after he performs on Graham Norton, I'm presuming he'll sing The Chamber

Look out for 'Hard Work' tomorrow as it is the next instant grat from Ella's album. 'Mirror Man' reached #10 last week so this one will probably get to around #7-8ish with the extra few pre-orders that will have been gained this week.

itunescharts.net has all the daily iTunes #1's since 2010, but you'll need a list of #1 tracks on the Official Chart to deduce which ones didn't go #1 on the weekly charts.

Oops, although to be fair it is a very old song now and will already be owned by most Ellie fans. Hopefully it can at least go top 40 although even that looks a bit unlikely if the pre-order is THAT low.

It's an awful song considering the artists involved and should never have been a single in the first place. Add to the fact that it's already been 'out there' for a year means that it was never going to be a success.

Nice to see a more original choice being sung AND getting a big chart boost. I remember when that awful Danyl Johnson covered it but the show needed Whitney's permission to perform it as it was an album track on her album which hadn't been released yet!

Permission? Surely he wouldn't even have heard the song unless it was given to him as a promotional device?
