Shawn Mendes has teased his third album, the follow-up to 2016's 'Illuminate' with the following photo, captioned 'album soon come', on Instagram:
*picture removed*
! I'm looking forward to hearing more bangers from him, "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" and "Treat You Better" are both excellent so more like that and less songs like "Mercy" please x
Stitches remains his best for me, I hope we get a few more uptempos on this album (as good as he is at ballads)
Wow where was that photo taken? Excited to hear more music from him, I liked his older stuff and Something Big was on my playlist for a while when it was released so I have high hopes this time again!
The singles from his last album were incredible. The album, not so much. A bit too dreary considering the singles were actual bangers. In fact, most of his singles have been fantastic. 'Stitches' is my least fave, but only in a 7 out of 10 coz everything else is a 9 sort of way.
There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back is my favourite by him so far, so I'm definitely hoping for more songs of that ilk (uptempos in general - bring us some bops!)
I really ought to invest more in him. I always kinda liked his body music but never bothered beyond the singles.
He's only 19 though? Jesus, usually I don't go for guys under 30.
god PLEASE give it to me NOW
The album won't be the only thing coming soon xxx
There's Nothing Holding Me Back is probably his best to date (although that and Stitches are both total 11s) so if there's more of that I'm on board! Neither of his albums as a whole were that great but singles wise he hasn't put a foot wrong.
Not really thinking about the MUSIC when I see that picture tbh *.*
(TYB, Stitches & TNHMB all bop so hard so I'm very excited for him to add to his holy trinity)
'Lost In Japan' is coming tonight at midnight again. So about 4am here in the UK! Exciting!
'Lost In Japan' is out there.
I feel like this is the Justin Timberlake inspired one that he mentioned some time ago when asked what direction his album was going in.
Quite groovy and funky. It's good in an album filler sort of way. Not one I'll go back to I don't think, but it's v different for him!
I'm kinda happy that I'm not into this as much as IMB tbh. Coz I hate it when an artist releases two strong songs and the one that's not meant to be the single pulls ahead and ends up being the bigger hit (poor, brave Castle On The Hill) 🙃
"Lost In Japan" was alright on first listen; "In My Blood" is growing with every listen. He sounds so incredibly mature on it; love how raspy his voice gets.
Yeah In My Blood is much better, this is solid enough but I don't think I'll be going back to it that much compared to In My Blood or There's Nothing Holding Me Back.
Lost In Japan is great, but it honestly sounds like he just re-recorded a Timberlake demo. It's even got 2001 Michael Jackson vibes. Still, have yet to hear a bad song from this young man (I Know What You Did Last Summer has become a lot more bareable to me now I actually like Camila's voice) but have to agree that In My Blood is miles better, and a song I can see connecting with a wider audience so hopefully it should have some staying power over the next few weeks.
Actually preferring Lost In Japan right now, I love the funky groove to it and sort of fills the Pre-2018 Justin Timberlake hole I have In My Blood is nice and will probably grow on me as I hear it more
Both songs are FAB, can't wait for his album!
On first listen, I immediately prefer "Lost In Japan". I agree with the Justin comparisons, it's very '20/20' era. Neither are what I would have expected him to come back with though but I'm enjoying them both!
I like Lost In Japan but I was so blown away by In My Blood that is dulls the effect of the new song tbh.
Lost In Japan is another brilliant song, not as good as In My Blood and he definitely made the right decision in terms of singles, but I'm glad he's showing us another side of the album!
Picture has been removed.
Enjoying this a lot now. the chorus especially as many have said the rasp in his voice really makes it standout.
He performed in the Live Lounge today and revealed that there is a Prince-inspired track on the album.
I said this in the other thread, but he really is just enjoying himself and loving his life atm! It's so nice to see!
Seems like the album announcement is imminent! There's a live stream going on at the moment: http://www.shawnmendesthealbum.com, seemingly an art installation - potentially the album cover?
The album is self-titled and is out on 25th May!
Track List:
1. In My Blood
2. Nervous
3. Lost in Japan
4. Where Were You in the Morning?
5. Like to Be You [feat. Julia Michaels]
6. Fallin' All in You
7. Particular Taste
8. Why
9. Because I Had You
10. Queen
11. Youth [feat. Khalid]
12. Mutual
13. Perfectly Wrong
14. When You're Ready
Julia Michaels and Khalid are in the album. The former features in "Like To Be You", while the latter is on "Youth".
Best album artwork of the year so far tbh
Yeah. Tbh, I don't get what's so bad about the artwork tbh It's not my favourite ever, but it's almost certainly not the worst imo.
Haaate the artwork but I am soooo excited for the album!!
That artwork is hideous. I can see what the intention was but it was so poorly done. It's like they picked an early concept mock up rather than the finished product.
It's all very "person who wants to be an artist trying a Marcello Monreal piece and failing"
I don’t even know what they’re going for with that artwork.
I mean, I suppose they’re trying to be ‘arty’ but still.
I think the separate face piece (??) should be further apart from his actual face? I like it and it’s definitely one of the more inspired artworks recently but on first glance I just thought he just had a really fat/wide face
Very excited for the Khalid & Julia Michaels collab though, I’ve basically fallen in love with both of them in the past year since they came on my radar so I couldn’t be happier *.* In My Blood and Lost In Japan have surpassed my expectations from him too so he could even pull a George Ezra for me (poor Justin)
They hate the artwork cause he's fully clothed.
HYPED FOR THIS.
Love the artwork
He has just solidified himself as the nicest and most humble guy in the industry!
Literally him and Ariana are all I need right now.
Can we talk about how some of these titles scream "coming out" tho? "Queen" and "Particular Taste"
Are we getting an instant grat tomorrow?
He's such a sweetheart bless him
Exactly, who really cares? Shawn coming out isn’t going to make a random homosexual on the internet suddenly have 87% of a chance sleeping with him... men can show a feminine side and a genuine gratitude towards women without being gay
I think that artwork would look better if the RHS part of the face was gone completely and it was just the flowers.
Except he does care & did an insta story last year confirming he wasn’t gay as he was sick of the rumours.
Internet gays seem to think if he's gay they have a chance or sth and want to fantasise about it lmao, he's an absolute sweetheart and gorgeous either way, so I don't care
Shawn seems a lovely guy and as long as he’s happy that should be all that matters to fans!
If this is a "coming out" album though culturally this could be phenomenal.
'Youth' (with Khalid) is out this Friday apparently
Omg hyped for this Khalid collab cus Khalid
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH NEW MUSIC THIS WEEK I can’t keep up tbh
I am almost certainly gonna love this though, new Shawn Mendes is way better than old Shawn Mendes and Khalid is just icing on the Shawn Mendes cake
In My Blood is fast becoming my favourite Mendes song, but I hope Youth is a bit more commercial so it can get him another top ten as I don't IMB has a chance now (unless it gets a major boost from somewhere)
I definitely prefer In My Blood over Lost in Japan, but with that many songs on the album, hopefully we'll get some WAY better ones too!
Youth is now coming 12pm EST / 5pm BST tomorrow, its release coincides with its premiere on Beats 1
Artwork:
Do we know if this is the next single or just a promo/instant grat?
I'm really excited to hear this, I'm only just properly getting into "In My Blood" but the bar for this album has already been set so high with that and "Lost in Japan", I really hope this collab doesn't disappoint.
Probably just IG. I don’t think In My Blood is finished peaking yet.
Nice song but not sure their voices really go...
It's alright but definitely the weakest song so far. It feels like Khalid album filler
Gorgeous song and his voice on it is perfect
I love the verses more than I love the chorus though!
Oh I just realized the song is about Manchester and it makes it even more beautiful.
He's announced a world tour, starting March 2019. Full list of dates are on his Instagram story.
6th April - SSE Hydro, Glasgow
7th April - Manchester Arena
9th April - Arena Birmingham
10th April - First Direct Arena, Leeds
13th April - 3Arena, Dublin
16th April - O2 Arena, London
17th April - O2 Arena, London
Screaming that he's coming to Leeds of all places!
YOUTH is FIRE. Summer slam for sure, finally a single that actually gets me excited about the rest of this album
This tour advert has really helped In My Blood in the UK - it's climbed to #2 on iTunes and is in the Top 10 midweeks at #7!
~
The Deluxe version of the album has 16 tracks including In My Blood as track 15 and Youth as track 16 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shawn-Mendes-Album/dp/B07CLPCKWP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526314788&sr=8-1&keywords=shawn+mendes+deluxe&dpID=61KqGNp0pcL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch but doesn't specify what versions - maybe acoustic versions?
Where Were You In The Morning is out on Friday
Anyone going to see him next year? 👀 Got Glasgow tickets, so excited *.*
I got VIP tickets for London !!!!!! Ridiculously excited, and just as excited to tell my friend as it's a surprise birthday present for her 21st.
Aaah. Excited for you
Would love to see him, but Disneyland Paris is priority for me atm Very excited for this album and it's purely all down to IMB lmao. I've liked everything else, but IMB is on a different level haha.
I've got tickets too! Seeing him in Birmingham, with Jahq *.*
I wonder if they're planning on making 'Where Were You In the Morning?' the official 2nd single? Seems strange that they'd give just an instant grat a midnight in the US release otherwise?
Where Were You In the Morning? is really nice. I think a sped up remix (Ryan Riback anyone) would work really well too, considering the first time I heard it the speed was on x1.25 and it sounded normal
2nd single it is not, so that theory is out the window lmao 🙃
First song I haven't cared for at all this era. It's very 'Justified' filler... meh.
I feel like the definition of what makes a song a single is becomingly increasingly more blurred. I mean, Billboard.com describes both Lost in Japan and Youth as singles - https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/8427848/shawn-mendes-khalid-twitter-new-song-youth - which in turn has the contributors of his Wikipedia pages defining them as singles too. Meanwhile, as well as Billboard, other sites such as Capital, Forbes, Idolator and Just Jared have described Where Were You in the Morning as being a single too.
In My Blood evidently got the big radio/video push and feels more traditionally like "a single", but the three lesser pushed songs are still doing things in a singular capacity and weren't exactly dropped onto music services with no fanfare. For instance, Youth's release was given promotional billboards, while Where Were You in the Morning was debuted as a live performance for Apple Music, just moments before its release.
Personally, I'm wondering if the terminology really matters much any more. A single was something tangible in the physicals era, and mostly clear cut when it was downloads, but in this streaming world it seems like the rule book has been thrown out of the window. I mean, Christina's put out three songs in very quick succession, and I guess none of them are likely to gain much traction... no matter if a song is described as being a lead single one moment and demoted to buzz single the next. To me it just seems like three songs, not one single + two instant grats.
Btw, the aforementioned performance of Where Were You in the Morning with Apple Music, which saw John Mayer join Shawn on stage, was so good! I caught the live stream on YouTube, but unfortunately it's Apple Music exclusive now.
Also when it comes to Justin Timberlake... I'd say the vibe Shawn has explored with Lost in Japan and WWYITM, is him doing Justin much better than Justin is doing Justin, currently.
Loving 'Where Were You In The Morning? Everything he's put out this era has been fire, I haven't actually listened to an album of his before so I'll give Illuminate a try. A male artist I actually stan *.*
He's performing twice at the BBMAs tonight!
Both performances were great Youth was really touching - a tribute to victims of gun violence.
'Nervous' is being released on Wednesday!
Oh and if you don't follow the lounge, there's reports of "a big male star is set to come out on a song in the near future". Whoever it is, I wish them all the best and it's gonna be a pretty big moment for pop culture regardless of who it is! But yeah, Shawn is the main name on everyones lips atm
Really looking forward to this album! The performance of "Youth" at the BBMAs was really powerful and has completely sold the song to me and "In My Blood" continues to grow with every listen.
Do we know if "Nervous" is out at 5am or 1pm UK time on Wednesday?
"Fallin' All In You" is available to purchase on 7digital now and you could do it https://www.7digital.com/artist/shawn-mendes/release/fallin-all-in-you-7879459. Oh! And looks like this is that song if the lyrics are taken into consideration, which you could check them https://genius.com/Shawn-mendes-fallin-all-in-you-lyrics.
Can he please stop dropping such amazing songs he needs to just chill out I’m so not ready for this album
It's really odd that the song is only available on 7Digital, and it's not been mentioned on his socials at all - which makes me wonder whether its current availability is a mistake?
Unofficial upload here:
That lyric certainly stands out, although I suppose it could be Shawn singing in third person and it's actually the person he's singing about who previously "fell for men who weren't how they appear". Interesting though, and you could interpret other lyrics like "There's no safety net that's underneath, I'm free" in a particular way too.
Even if that isn't the song's meaning, regardless I think they're beautiful lyrics!
This album is shaping up to be excellent, I love or really like all five songs so far. A big step up from his previous album (which I did like, but 'Shawn Mendes' based on what we've heard so far is most definitely a step up).
What are we thinking for the album in terms of the UK chart? Could it be his first #1?
I think it's a surefire #1 album for him this time, In My Blood is becoming one of his biggest hits and this mature sound works much better for him.
Fallin' All in You was co-written by Ed Sheeran and Particular Taste was co-written by Ryan Tedder.
I’m thinking 22k
After I listened to "Fallin' All In You", I think it has a double entendre meaning. I mean, I agree that that particular line stands out, but I think it's because of the structure of the chorus, which instead of being "Falling all in you / (I) fell for men who weren't how they appear" is "Falling all in you / (You) fell for men who weren't how they appear" or even "Falling all in / you fell for men who weren't how they appear". Also, it's curious that the song ends with the line "Falling all in" without the "you".
Also, I haven't listened to most of his songs (besides the singles), so I don't know if he has songs where he's singing in third person, so in case he hasn't it would be interesting that this is the first one.
Regarding the release of the song, I guess that they (he and/or his label) planned to release a couple of songs (this one and "Nervous") a week before the album is out, but I assume they opted against this idea, choosing only one (the latter) and 7digital didn't receive the memo. The track has its own artwork (not the album artwork), so it makes think that it was something planned/later cancelled thing.
Oh wow Nervous is great!
Nervous is fantastic wow
Nervous is already my fave of this era so far 😍 What a bop and its obvious Julia had a massive involvement in this *.*
Just come on here to say Nervous is a bop!
Proper stanning him at the moment
I love how all the single artworks have different flowers in the corner with quiet coloured backgrounds. None of them are too fancy but it's a nice look he's got going on with them. Nervous & Lost In Japan are my favs with the green & pink
"Nervous" and "Fallin All in You" are both great! The former in particular is such a bop! Bring on Friday as this album is shaping up to be excellent!
Which one's the coming out track?
'Nervous' is so good! Probs my 2nd fave after IMB.
Hyped for this on Friday!
It’s essentially the male version of “Bad Liar” + “Come Get It Bae” but I don’t care it’s so good
I love this album. I use that word a lot here but this is genuinely a really great album. It's very personal and way more engaging than his last album ever was. I'm also 99.9999% he isn't "coming out" on this album. He mentions girls constantly and I'm fairly sure "You fell for men who weren't how they appear" is Shawn talking to a girl rather than him talking to himself.
Ed Sheeran & Johnny McDaid (Snow Patrol) are obviously involved in Fallin' All in You, Ed especially. Ryan Tedder has some backing vocals on Particular Taste too. Khalid & Julia Michaels are perfect collabs too, Julia's voice works so well with his
Nervous is SUCH a bop, definitely gonna do the rare thing of listening to this album at midnight as soon as it's out
Like To Be You is EVERYTHING oh my god, this is gonna challenge IMB as the best of this era although I have most of the album to go
VERY good album, really love it as a whole It's all very cohesive but there's enough variation so that the songs stand out. In My Blood and Like To Be You are definitely the highlights but Particular Taste, Nervous and Where Were You In The Morning are amaze too. I agree it feels more personal too, he had great songs I enjoyed before but there feels like there's more of a connection and an identity on this.
I'd maybe shave the last two songs off but on the whole FAB <3
OMG HE HAS COMPLETELY STOLEN AND REPURPOSED BAD LIAR BY SELENA GOMEZ AND NAMED IT NERVOUS!
WTFFFFFF?
I'm up to 'Youth' and this is a much stronger album than 'Illuminate' (which wasn't bad, just didn't really have much going for it beyond the singles)! 'In My Blood' is the best ofc, but tbh there's been nothing that I dislike/consider a least fave on the album so far. But this is just one listen. 'Falling All In You' is soooo good and a fave though.
Slay me Mendes.
'When You're Ready' has a really familiar melody! I can't pinpoint exactly what exactly!
LOVE it though
Just listening to this now; great album and a step up from Illuminate.
Also Nervous Number 1 on the NMF playlist
hope Fallin'all in you is a real collab with Ed, not another Divide leftover
definetly not a coming out album, rather the opposite, a sorta let's keep pretending album
'Fallin' All In You' kinda reminds me of 'I'll Be Missing You' by Puff Daddy! Not sure if anyone else hears it, but the riff is similar to me haha. Also, it sounds more like it'd belong more on 'x' than it would '÷' and that's not a bad thing
My album top 5:
01. In My Blood
02. Nervous
03. Like To Be You
04. Youth
05. Fallin' All In You
('When You're Ready' > 'Particular Taste' > 'Lost In Japan' are next for me)
Addicted to this album.
He's really come into his own with this album hasn't he? It's so nice to hear his sound develop from Handwritten and Illuminate. My highlights are Nervous (a big hit in waiting surely?), Queen and Perfectly Wrong (this is gorgeous, there's nowhere near enough love for it! Shawn's voice against a piano backing is stunning ).
'Mutual' is the BOP
I'm gradually falling for him more and more as time goes by.
I was at rough trade yesterday and heard everyone screaming outside so went out to see what it was about, he walked right past me but I had no idea who he was 🙃 officially out of touch
I'm surprised he was even at Rough Trade
wot
^ he was opposite Rough Trade, there was a one-day pop up merch shop there! He met a select few fans there in the morning and I arrived (to innocently browse the merch) just minutes before he left the shop he waved in my direction and I've still not recovered tbh
I'm waiting for an official information, but "Nervous" has been sent to UK radio through the latest HitDisc compilation this week. That said, I'm not sure if this is a FYC for programmers to include the track or it's going to be release as the second single of the album.
'Nervous' was played after the chart show on R1 last week and the presenter said it was the next single, if that counts for anything.
he did the carpool karaoke thing!!!
He had a whole week on James Corden last week. From what I can see, he performed 'Nervous', 'Lost In Japan', 'Like To Be You' (Julia was there too) & 'Perfectly Wrong'. He also did Carpool Karaoke and some other funny skits with James, which are worth watching.
Nervous:
Lost In Japan:
Like To Be You:
Perfectly Wrong:
---
Carpool Karaoke:
Couple of Skits:
All of those performances were great!
Looks like "Lost In Japan" will be pushed as the next single and it will be remixed by Zedd. The latter posted https://twitter.com/Zedd/status/1043938126849138688 on his social media, while Shawn retweeted it and posted https://www.instagram.com/p/BoFID8DgShZ/ on Instagram.
Better than nothing I guess
I feel like they really dropped the ball with Youth, that seemed like it could have ended up being a hit.
Boo very bad call
Its a nice little song that i really like but
Its not a worldwide smash hit
They should release Youth
I think it's a good decision. Khalid is already running very close to the edge of overexposure, he's not exactly versatile.
The Zedd remix of "Lost In Japan" will be released tomorrow at midnight EST / this Thursday at 5am. BST.
He's releasing a music video for "Youth" tomorrow at 3pm GMT to coincide with the US midterms on Tuesday.
I hope Youth becomes the next single, it could be very big with the right push.
'Lost In Japan' is like one step forward two steps back in terms of chart success at the minute. I can't see it re-entering the Top 40.
This album campaign has been super messy. Youth is my favourite after the lead though.
they should have waited
they just released the Lost in Japan video
They got the hit single and a (US) number one album, it seems like the team/label just wasn't bothered about maintaining it after that.
Nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys!
They never seem to know what to do with him post-album do they?
Yeah honestly there was so much potential in this album. He needs a new team.
He's releasing a remix EP on Friday, not including the Zedd remix of "Lost in Japan", oddly. Tracklist:
1. "Where Were You in the Morning? (feat. kaytranada)
2. "Why" (feat. Leon Bridges)
3. "Youth" (feat. Khalid and Jessie Reyez)
They all sound good but they aren't remix single versions or anything really, it's like the most pointless release ever Not even including Lost In Japan which actually was a single version and did become a minor hit
I don’t think the intention is to be singles here? Shawn said it was a holiday release for his fans. Quite liking the Kaytranada one
The tour has started!
Here's the set list - in spoiler tags, because I know there's some here who don't want to know until they're at the concert!
The setlist looks amazing! SO excited to hear Fix You (if it sticks around for the duration~), think that'll be another incredible cover. Think I'm gonna be broke after getting the merch too.
I'd leave after the first 5 songs Songs #2-#5 are by far my favourite four songs of his
He's going to perform on SNL on May 4. I assume this means that new music from him will be released sometime soon (probably a re-release of his self-titled album?), unless an album track from the album is going to be pushed as a single.
I've been seriously loving 'Nervous' over the past few weeks, I can't believe what happened (or rather didn't end up happening) with the release of that. Killer song!
I feel a bit at the handling of this album era too. I think it's his best album, and there was great potential for a successful run of singles. Instead way too much time was spent on pushing In My Blood, then it took 6 months to finally move on to Lost in Japan and by then the era had lost steam. Nervous & Youth could easily have been big hits but the label wasted them during the lengthy unclear period of "what is the second single?".
I hope the May 4th slot on SNL is an indication of a new single for a repackaged album! Hopefully it'll be as strong as There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back and revitalise the era.
they are still pushing the album in Europe, Lost in Japan was now added to Hot Hits Denmark and there are album ads popping up
Saw Shawn on Tuesday (with Jahq!) and he was fantastic, he completely had the audience in the palm of his hands throughout the entire show. Great set list too, I think the only song I was a bit disappointed with being excluded was Queen.
I was curious about how many other male fans would be in the audience and there were actually quite a number of them, so I didn't feel out of place
I am still annoyed he self titled album 3 so annoying.
Posting a full recount of my gig date, I've not spoiler tagged anything so BEWARE OF SETLIST SPOILERS!
I saw Shawn live on Tuesday night, and it was a night I had been looking forward to so badly. I bought gold meet and greet tickets for me and my friend for her 21st birthday last August, as she adores Shawn too. It feels strange to think it's in the past tense now but it really was amazing. However, it didn't all go quite to plan, though none of it was Shawn's own fault.
When we arrived at the check-in point for M&G at about 3:25 (we were told we had to check in between 3 and 3:30), I was told I was not allowed to bring my rucksack in - an average sized rucksack, not full up, easy to search through and see there's nothing untoward inside. I was told I had to rush halfway round the O2 back to the front entrance and outside to the "bag drop", and leave my bag there for a ridiculous fee of £10. I did so, knowing I was against the clock, and found out the bag drop was shut. Furious, I headed back, and was told I could leave my bag outside (supervised for safety). I was distressed by this point, particularly as it only seemed to be one member of staff (possibly Shawn's tour manager? or someone on his team at least) that had an issue, other O2 staff were a little baffled by it.
Weirdly, despite the check-in window, it didn't begin til after 4:30, but that was okay, I had calmed down by then :') We went inside through the "ShawnAccess Experience" first, where there were Shawn's outfits from his music videos this era, the awards he's won recently, etc. Pretty cool to look at! At the end of that was the photo op. Shawn was super lovely even though it was so quick and I barely had the chance to say anything (not that I was disappointed by this - it was expected, I've done enough M&Gs to know that by now...!), before following through to the Q&A room. It was pretty tight to fit everyone in, but we were all sat on cushions on the floor which was cute. Shawn answered my friend's question in the Q&A which was really amazing! Such a great experience.
I picked my bag up on the way out and we went to eat dinner (the M&G wasn't past the ticket barriers so we didn't have to go straight to the arena). Afterwards, we went to the queues, where I was once again told that I was not allowed to bring my rucksack in. A rucksack that has been allowed into the O2 Arena without question every single time in the past. I politely questioned one of the ladies managing the queues, because my bag fits the ADVERTISED restrictions (advertised on the website AND literally next to the quee we were in....) and she shouted at me in response - atrocious service which only made me more anxious. We tried speaking to some members of staff, one of whom gave us a contact card for customer support, but I called the number and lines were closed :') So ultimately I had to go and put my bag in the bag drop, spending £10 for my bag to sit in a room. I wasn't expecting this at all and I was totally thrown off track, and by this point, I had missed Alessia's set entirely. Not happy.
Finally, we got inside. I bought a brilliant t-shirt and a wristband, and we headed inside. Our tickets said Row B, so naturally I expected 2nd row - the best seats I've ever had at the O2 by MILES! - only to find we were the first row of seats and were actually allowed to stand up at the barrier!!!! We were floored and instantly we were both in a better mood after the kerfuffle before. Shawn himself was sensational. It's my fourth time seeing Shawn and his best show yet. The setlist felt varied in tempo and mood, and he never once lost the crowd. Songs like Mutual and Particular Taste really hit me live too though Perfectly Wrong remains the most underrated song on the album.
To sum up, it was a mix of some really high highs and some really low lows. However, there was nothing I could have done to avoid to lows, so I'm focusing on the positives. That said, I've sent an email of complaint to the O2 for the awful organisation and horrific customer service from some staff members. All they needed to do was send an email to ticketholders to notify them of the new restrictions, and the problem is solved entirely as I'd have brought a smaller bag! Point taken for future gigs anyway lol, better to be safe than sorry.
It was all worth it in the end when I see this:
Brilliant read! Shawn seems like a great guy in real life, and the clips I've seen look fantastic - shame about the problems from the staff though.
That's your best M&G photo yet!
Asia leg has been announced - 7 new dates! Shawn will be touring there in October. That extends the tour to 104 dates overall.
Europe [27 dates] - Completed

Seems the tour's not going to be stretching beyond the end of 2019 then (unless of course he does more festival dates, etc like last time). Hopefully that paves the way for some new music in 2020 following a break of some sort *.*
He's gonna be knackered poor lamb!
I'm guessing there's *something* new must be on it's way what with him going on SNL a week on Saturday.
Today marks 1 year since 'Shawn Mendes' was released! Its UK chart run & sales can be seen here: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=212291
Album re-issued on iTunes and Spotify to include the two new singles. New tracklist:
1. Señorita (Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello)
2. Lost in Japan
3. If I Can't Have You
4. In My Blood
5. Fallin' All in You
6. Where Were You in the Morning?
7. Nervous
8. Like to Be You (feat. Julia Michaels)
9. Particular Taste
10. Because I Had You
11. Why
12. Youth (feat. Khalid)
13. Perfectly Wrong
14. Mutual
15. Queen
16. When You're Ready
So the 2 new singles aren’t even for a new album what a disappointment
Judging by the answers he's given at his tour Q&As, it didn't seem like a new album was on the cards just yet so I was kinda surprised when we got not just one but two new singles! Surprised they didn't actually tack these onto the album earlier.
Yeah I wasn’t expecting either of the singles to be from a new album tbh. At least this’ll hopefully give the album a small boost while he’s still out on tour!
There's Nothing Holding Me Back helped his last album return Top 40 and stay really consistent so hopefully two songs can help this one out a lot. Perhaps it could pass 200k in the end which would make it his third album to do so.
I wonder if they'll bother with a physical re-issue too?
Will be interesting to see how the inclusion of the two latest singles on streaming benefits the album in the UK, when you consider this rule: "The 2 album tracks attracting most streams are neutralised to the level of the average of the next 10 highest streamed tracks associated with the album (or all tracks where album has < 12 tracks).". I assume In My Blood and Lost in Japan were originally the Top 2, but now they'll be amongst "the next 10" which should improve the average nicely.
it's a smart strategy to add those 2 songs, thats very pragmatic cos thats the easiest way to accumulate streams, having 5/6 singles off an album...
Just noticed this. I quite like this running order! Hopefully he'll re-issue it physically!
Only just found out that the Deluxe version has been released physically, but it's seemingly a Japan exclusive It came out two weeks ago!

https://www.hmv.co.jp/en/artist_Shawn-Mendes_000000000578477/item_Shawn-Mendes-Deluxe-Edition_10228045
Interestingly it includes a few bonus tracks:
17 Lost In Japan (Remix)
18 If I Can't Have You (Gryffin Remix)
19 There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back
20 Treat You Better
21 Stitches
22 In My Blood (Acoustic)
(Argh @ tracks 19/20/21!)
It's a pity it's not been given a general worldwide release tbh. I feel like it could have done pretty well in Q4!
Stitches, TNHMB and Treat You Better LMAO WHAT?!
This completely passed me by, but there is actually a reissued CD version of this album in the UK... it was released on 22nd November
https://amazon.co.uk/Shawn-Mendes/dp/B07Z74DJXC/ | https://www.discogs.com/Shawn-Mendes-Shawn-Mendes/release/14538800
It now includes Señorita, If I Can't Have You & the Zedd Remix of Lost in Japan, as well as the original 14 tracks (it's in a rejigged order in comparison to the original release). The main drawback is that it's currently £12.75!
I wonder why it was reissued so quietly? I checked the 29th November chart and the album actually fell from #132 to #149 in that week lol~
There's also a new version released in France which has the same slipcase cover as the http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=209785&pid=6362230&st=180&#, but it has a different track list. It was released on 6th December!
https://www.amazon.fr/Shawn-Mendes/dp/B07Z76LPHT/ | https://www.discogs.com/Shawn-Mendes-Shawn-Mendes/release/14689809
This version includes Señorita and If I Can't Have You, but interestingly has removed the original Lost in Japan and replaced it with the Zedd Remix. At the end of the album it also includes almost every single release from prior to the 'Shawn Mendes' era: Mercy, Life of the Party, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Stitches, There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back and Treat You Better.
Ooooh interesting didn’t know it existed at all, so might have to make an investment
So strange that Twitter stans didn’t cotton onto it either, they’re usually all over things like this - and disappointing that it fell so many places in the album chart lmao!
I bought the French version lmao :') Money that I really didn't need to spend, but oh well x
I just bought the re-issue :')!!
Today marks TWO YEARS of Shawn Mendes: The Album!! Time has flown by so quickly omg.
Celebrate the anniversary by voting in the album Survivor currently taking place!
Huge *.*
Get those streams, Shawn *.*
If anyone is interested in owning this album on vinyl, it's currently a very reasonable £11.50 on Amazon UK! The cheapest it's ever been. https://amazon.co.uk/Shawn-Mendes-VINYL/dp/B07CPMYRKF
Unfortunately not, fingers crossed for album 4 though
The album has now reached 4.5 billion streams on Spotify - his only album to reach this milestone!! *.*
The album has now reached 4.6 billion streams on Spotify - his first album to achieve this.
Fallin' All in You has now reached 200 million streams on Spotify, becoming his 13th song to achieve this! *.*
Great that an album track (and one of his best at that!) continues to do so well
