BuzzJack Music Forum _ Little Mix _ 'Love Me Like You' • 2nd Single

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 9 2015, 02:20 PM

'LOVE ME LIKE YOU' has been announced as the second single from 'Get Weird'. It's to be released on the 25th September, with the pre-order going up on 11th September!

No idea on the premier date yet, but VERY EXCITED nonetheless!

As much as I love 'Hair', I really hope it's another 'Black Magic' type pop smash.

It's "Love Me Like You".

Available to pre-order from Friday and released 25th September :0

I'm just adding '...Do' onto the end of the title right now! laugh.gif

But I'm excited to hear it!

I think this might be the cover! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Ryan. Sep 9 2015, 04:45 PM

Still frustrating that they haven't gone fully OA/OS, but at least a 2 week hold-back is better than 6 weeks!

I do love the artwork this era, so colourful wub.gif

Posted by: Robot Sep 9 2015, 04:52 PM

Ideal release strategy in my opinion. They'd have struggled outright OA/OS but it's good to see they're committing to a less held back strategy somewhat.

Posted by: Ryan. Sep 9 2015, 04:55 PM

It is ideal for them, but I still think every artist should go fully in with it otherwise OA/OS will slowly get abandoned here once again and that's exactly what I don't want.

Although, if they only premiere this single a couple of days before the 25th then that's fair enough!

Posted by: Davs Cavalcanti Sep 9 2015, 05:27 PM

Here's the artwork for our second single #LoveMeLikeYou which will be available to pre-order on 11th September and released EVERYWHERE on 25th September! Can't wait for you to hear this track! The Girls (P.S. Love Me Like You is our single in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia BUT available as a bonus tack for the whole world to stream and download!)

I'm excited about this, I hope they can keep up the momentum that 'Black Magic' has built for them.

I assumed Hair would be the official 2nd single. I hope they achieve another big hit with this release.

Posted by: Cody Slayberry Sep 11 2015, 08:20 AM

Can it not be another ballad again tho? Remember what happened with "Little Me"? No one was here for that.

I was! If anything that really made me take more notice of them!

Posted by: Liаm Sep 11 2015, 11:38 AM

They wouldn't lead the album with a ballad, well I don't think so, I think it'll most likely be more along the lines of Hair/Salute? Or another poppy track but hopefully not too similar to Black Magic as much as that's my song of the year.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 11 2015, 02:14 PM

#87 on iTunes atm! biggrin.gif

Hold up please! wub.gif

Posted by: Robot Sep 11 2015, 04:03 PM

Oh, so they are going with the OA/OS approach, just with a pre-order rather than throwing everything out there at once. Interesting. Scary.

Posted by: Juliano Sep 18 2015, 10:29 AM

So it's Motown! Sounds big!

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 18 2015, 11:24 AM

They've uploaded a clip to Facebook. Gives very little away but I'm really not sure of it atm! Hope the full thing is better than the clip is suggesting it will be. (It's not "bad" just not what I expected or wanted from them)

Here's a Popjustice article on the song:

QUOTE
LITTLE MIX’S NEW SINGLE ‘LOVE ME LIKE YOU’ — A SERIES OF SOLID FACTS
FILED ON SEPTEMBER 18 2015 BY POPJUSTICE
music-little-mix-love-me-like-you
We first heard ‘Love Me Like You’ in May. We have lived with it going round and round in our heads for four months. Our love for this song is absolute.

FACT: It’s amazing. Very amazing. Worthy-successor-to-‘Black-Magic’-level amazing.

FACT: If you’re going to homage a big girlband moment of ‘yesteryear’ you might as well go for a big one, and Little Mix have gone for one of the Top 3 girlband moments of all time.

FACT: You might start listening and initially think: “Hold on. This is a bit of a change in direction, this song is a banger in one sense but it doesn’t bang quite as hard as eg ‘Black Magic’, what’s going on, I don’t even know who I am any more, up is down and left is right.” By about the 0:25 mark you’ll be thinking: “Well this is certainly a more daring move than just knocking out something that sounds like DJ Mustard shat it out in the bath which is what passes for a lot of big pop these days.” And then at precisely the 0:51 mark all doubt goes out of the window and you just surrender to the song’s almighty amazingness.

FACT: When we spoke to Little Mix about the song earlier this year they said that the original lyrics were a little bit ‘outré’ (they didn’t use the word outré) and when they said that we didn’t really know what they meant, but listening to the opening line “he might got the biggest car” we can’t help but wonder now if it was originally about a large cock.

FACT: Thinking about it, and you’ll have to excuse our language here readers, this song could quite easily have originally been called ‘f*** Me Like You’. The song is, at its heart, about the fact that while romance is all very well, sometimes only A Bit Of Sex will hit the spot.

FACT: The “they try to romance me but you’ve got that nasty and that’s what I want” bit is the best bit.

FACT: Also the “that’s what I want” backing vocal bit is the best bit.

FACT: The “sha-la-lala” part with the “whoah-oah-oh-oh” response are also the best bit.

FACT: The chorus is the best bit.

FACT: The “L-O-V-E, love the way you give it to me” bit is middle eight GOLD, and is also the best bit.

FACT: All in all, a complete triumph. Well done everyone.
The third point is EXACTLY me with the clip! laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm Sep 18 2015, 12:25 PM

I think the Motown sound will really suit them! The clip sounds good, I'm just a bit worried that OA/OS won't work for them... They have a fanbase moreso than say Rita Ora so they'll probably do better than her at least initially, and hopefully, fingers crossed, they can hold up as well!

Ok well I just meant in a way that both DL and BM are 80s disco tracks by girlbands and Black Heart was the last motown song by a girlband to be big. I would love to hear some mash-ups!

Listen http://sunflowerleigh.tumblr.com/post/129775328995/heres-love-me-like-you!

I quite like it on first listen although I'm not sure if it screams hit, unless it manages to do a StooShe's 'Black Heart'. I'm surprised they didn't play it safe with another big pop song, but it'll be interesting to see how it does.

Posted by: Robot Sep 24 2015, 02:00 PM

wub.gif

I wasn't sold by the first chorus but it builds so well throughout the whole song and ends up feeling like such a classy yet catchy number. I'm not sure how this will fare, it is very much a Black Heart kind of feel and that did well, it's not a huge selling #1 like Black Magic but I think this sort of song would fit in well with a Heart audience and stick around for quite a while.

The preview worried me but as a whole song it works so well, ahhhh so glad I'm not disappointed!

I'm loving the sound of this! Enjoying the Motown influence. Looking forward to hearing this in HQ.

I really like it! Suits them so much. I can see this being another big hit for them! Another number 1? Maybe not, but a long running top 10 hit I reckon. HeartFM are gonna be ALL OVER THIS.

It's getting it's premiere on CapitalFM tomorrow from 8am! cheer.gif

Posted by: SeanGrey Sep 24 2015, 07:50 PM

Absolutely loving this on first listen! Only thing I am not a fan of is the artwork, but that has been pretty inconsistent with both Black Magic and the album, so fr.

Posted by: mr_pmt Sep 24 2015, 08:10 PM

This sounds so perfect for the winter/build up to Christmas time!

It is quite a bit like 'Be My Baby'/'Black Heart' mashed up, with elements of 'Dedication To My Ex' in the backing track.

Posted by: J▲hq Sep 24 2015, 08:31 PM

Had two listens and really like this! Definitely the best single #2 that they've had and miles better than "Hair"!

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 24 2015, 08:48 PM

Ermmm... 'DNA' is a second single you know!!!! sad.gif

'DNA' > majority of their back catalogue... ohmy.gif

Posted by: jark Sep 24 2015, 09:15 PM

What a massive chorus. Very solid song, should their biggest second single to date. Only criticism is the chanty middle 8 is almost exactly the same as "all the girls from the block knockin' at my door" but that was in itself a killer hook so no complaints I guess.

Posted by: OutstandingMixer Sep 24 2015, 09:33 PM

This really is fantastic, the perfect follow up to 'Black Magic'. wub.gif Not sure about its #1 chances, but I can see it being a long running Top 5 hit.

Heard this in proper quality on Radio 1 this morning, and the general consensus for listeners and the Djs was that it sounds like a Christmas song. Which I do agree with.

However, I think it's really great. It won't sell as much as Black Magic but it sounds like a perfect album seller to me. Whereas, I can't see Black Magic being much of an album seller.

I think Black Magic is their best ever single and this coukd easily end up beating it or just below anyway, SO PLEASED biggrin.gif

Okay, I think I officially like this and it's already much better than 'Black Heart'. Poor Little Mix going into a Stooshe sound though, urgh. The live performance of this is going to be so f***ing incredible and it's a perfect song for the winter (like Josh said).

Seriously wouldn't be surprised to see Little Mix beat Ellie Goulding in the album battle now.

Anyone else get the feeling that this song has the most longevity of a second single so far? I feel like its debut this week will not be its peak, and it will climb higher as the weeks progress as the AirPlay increases and the music video is released. But with that said, I do hope it gets an initial Top 10 debut!

In some ways yes, although I could equally see it performing similar to say, 'Body On Me' (I reckon it'll debut around #20 too). It's had a slower start than I imagined it would, so that's concerning me a little, but I do have a feeling that it'll respond well to increasing airplay.

Posted by: pippa Sep 28 2015, 08:21 AM

It would be wonderful for it to have longevity as i think it will miss out a top 10 position.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 28 2015, 04:14 PM

It's doing fine atm! Don't forget it's OA/OS so they need to delay certain things and time things just right. I do think the video needs to premiere in the net week or so, to hold it up, before airplay finally builds for the song.

I'm really confident this is going to be a big top 10 for them tbh. I've not felt like this about an OA/OS release before (which probably means it'll flop right on it's arse and do a 'Good For You' at best or something haha sad.gif)

The video is it out this Friday apparently - they've posted a teaser on their Twitter.

#14 on today's update. I'm shocked that it's 4 places lower than Rudimental, given that they've performed very similarly on iTunes and Spotify; sales around that area must be close. Hopefully it'll stay top 20 by Friday.

Edit: Scratch that; just seen that Rudimental is actually #4 on iTunes.

Posted by: AaronTM Sep 28 2015, 09:24 PM

I do like this so far, but I can't help but feel a little bit underwhelmed. It's a little too reminiscent of Stooshe for me. I would have liked something a bit different for the second single and then they could have released this as a Christmas song with fur hooded coats, snow and bells in the video. It's definitely got more of a winter vibe to it. At the same time, it probably is the right sort of song to launch an album with.

Ooh. Just got around to seeing that!

Nicely timed and on a Friday too, so it should hopefully keep it from free falling through the weekend effect and help it stabilise in time for (hopefully) C-List airplay rotation at least from Radio 1 next week.

LMLY could go on to be my favourite single by them, honestly. I've played it multiple times daily since it leaked! So infectious. I love the 60s Motown vibe.

1 Black Magic
2 Move
3 Love Me Like You
4 Salute
5 Wings
6 DNA
7 How Ya Doin'?
8 Cannonball
9 Little Me
10 Change Your Life
11 Word Up

Maybe my top choice is controversial but I truly love it, such a joyous pop song. It's one of the defining tracks of the year so far, for me!

1 Black Magic
2 Love Me Like You
3 DNA
4 Wings

What an era so far for them, both 10/10 songs, I thought they'd never top DNA.

Loooove the video. Their choreography is really fun and the L-O-V-E bits are done so well. Certainly helped elevate an already great song for me.

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 2 2015, 08:04 AM

That was great. So much fun and the routines were very good. Looking forward to seeing some big budget performances of this!

Jade crying hysterically when they all realise they're all in the same situation really made me lol.

Loving the video, the only part I wasn't keen on was them in the toilet/bathroom area with the mirrors. For me I'm enjoying this song more than Black Magic but I think Black Magic still has to be their best video!

A very enjoyable video! *.*

Posted by: Joe. Oct 2 2015, 10:05 AM

Video effect seems to be helping the song. It's climbing on iTunes again.

Posted by: Scene Oct 2 2015, 12:23 PM

Their videos are so on point this era. I love it! I loved LMLY anyway but this video just increases my love for the song. It'd be a travesty if this doesn't chart in the top 5 eventually.

Jesy was too much in the video. The scene at the cinema was so me laugh.gif

I'm the same, the video has really lifted the song for me. Shame the response on iTunes has been so muted - I was half-expecting it to re-enter the top 10, but it's barely moved. confused.gif

Posted by: HausEveryWeekend Oct 12 2015, 08:40 PM

I'm not sure what it is about it, but the video for this has made me really fall for the song. It was the same with 'Black Magic' too. They're just so damn lovable and the videos this era have really fed into that appeal. Really like the song now and hope it can be another hit for them!

Could be shaping up to be my favourite era from them and I didn't think they'd have enough drive to top 'Salute' so that is high praise from me.

I've found that as well with videos for this era. With Wings, How Ya Doin', Move, Little Me & Salute/Word Up, there really wasn't any premise to the music videos and it was just boring standing around/dancing but at least with this era we have more storyline videos which make it more interesting to watch/listen!

Oh and Perrie's vocals at the end were great as well!

Posted by: Ryan. Oct 15 2015, 11:16 PM

The X Factor Australia performance was good, but it also felt very weird to me. The outfits and dance moves didn't really suit the song at all, it seemed like they wanted to be controversial with a very sexual image. It was a great performance don't get me wrong, but it felt like it was for a different song - it would've suited Move for example, but it doesn't suit Love Me Like You at all.

01. 'Love Me Like You' (Christmas Mix)
02. 'Lightning'
03. 'Love Me Like You' (J-Vibe Reggae Remix)
04. 'Love Me Like You' (Bimbo Jones Remix)
05. 'Love Me Like You' (7th Heaven Remix)

Has been A-Listed by Radio One! Get that airplay!!

Posted by: Joecula Oct 26 2015, 08:57 AM

This is slowly but surely climbing and overall, has done pretty decently for an OA release, despite its peak, as it's managed to stay stable in the top 40. Radio 1/Radio 2 A-listing.

Hopefully, they get an X-Factor performance this Sunday or next Sunday and no later, because I'd like to see this song start peaking while airplay is high, otherwise it'll be dropped pretty quickly, I'd imagine. (It also needs to come before/while the album is on release week)

Posted by: pippa Oct 26 2015, 01:25 PM

An early X Factor performance would be ideal. This weekend or the one after would work best for the single.

They're also performing this on Alan Carr the week after next.

I really thought they'd have more promotion lined up. sad.gif So far it seems to be just XF and Alan Carr. I'm hoping they can bag a slot on Children In Need again, and/or something else too, to keep the album selling at least.

Posted by: Joecula Oct 29 2015, 11:59 AM

I'm sure they'll have some other bits. They've not announced the full CiN line up, so fingers crossed. I;m sure they'll also do some daytime stuff like This Morning/Lorraine/Loose Women. They're also doing the Celebrity Juice Halloween speicial, which won't do much as it doesn't include a performance.

Posted by: Scene Oct 30 2015, 05:04 PM

I hope they do the XF Australia choreography on the UK version this weekend. I think a great performance like that would push it into the top 10.

Really can't get over this!

Posted by: Joecula Nov 2 2015, 08:40 AM

Amazing performance. Showing everyone how talented they are time and time again. I wish they'd capitalised on the performance and finished at least the bridge of LMLY before going into Black Magic, but it was amazing all the same. So annoying that iTunes has crashed so we can't track their progress. LMLY is up to 6 on Amazon though.

Posted by: Joe. Nov 3 2015, 08:44 AM

Finally scraped its way into the Spotify top 50, hopefully this gets it more exposure and it continues to climb.

I just need top 20, please.

Posted by: pippa Nov 3 2015, 08:55 PM

A further increase on Spotify would be a good help.

Posted by: tomwright123 Nov 3 2015, 08:57 PM

It's up to 6 on iTunes, but I bet it will miss the official Top 10 this week, as for some reason people persist on streaming the same songs for months on end!

Posted by: Jonjoltergeist👻 Nov 4 2015, 03:50 AM

They're on the Ellen show tomorrow in the US! biggrin.gif First appearance on there!

Posted by: Joe. Nov 4 2015, 08:47 AM

40 on Spotify now. I'm thinking this won't make the top 20, but will peak next Friday, with people cherry-picking/streaming the album. I'm thinking #17 - 20 this Friday and around #14 next Friday. But it should hopefully stick around in the top 40 for a while and safely go silver.

(Also, they're performing LMLY on Sunday Brunch the same weekend as Alan Carr)

Does anyone know if they'll do like This Morning or any daytime performances next week?

I don't think it'll make the top 10 - it had a chance next week but it looks like there'll be about 5 new entires to the top 10, but I still think it'll peak next Friday (around 12 - 14?) and will sell decently overall.

I'm glad streaming has picked up, but I'd like it to move up a few more places, at least to #20. If Radio 1 and 2 keep it on the playlist tomorrow, I can see it maybe scraping the top 10 next Friday. It'll be typical if they're dropped when on the cusp of top 10.

Fun performance on Alan last night. Sadly less people tuned in than usual because of CIN, but it still got a small boost anyway. Another performance on Sunday Brunch tomorrow!

Sadly, it's taken a big fall on Spotify but hopefully that's weekend/effect Justin/1D streaming effect.

They filmed Royal Variety last night and apparently gave one of the best performances of the night for LMLY, looking glamorous (airs December 7th):

Still #13 in the midweeks, streaming is very low for them, sadly and it won't make the top 10. sad.gif

It will be 100% overtaken by 'Hotline Bling' by Friday, but Format:B will fall behind it. So most likely it'll be a second week at #13. Unless Eagles of Death Metal or Ariana Grande overtake.

Should be a non-mover at 13 today, with an outside chance of #12 but Sam looks like he'll just beat them. Next week might give them quite the tumble though (Now! versions of songs can make the top version fall quite fast), here's hoping they can remain top 20.

Probably it will if streaming is diving and so is airplay.

#16 in the mids, bound to overtake Adele with no streaming at #15 but will probably be overtaken by a few songs behind them, onlt 1,767 away from falling from the top 20.

I don't really mind that isn't not gone top 10, obviously that would have been nice, but it's having really good longevity. This Friday will be it's 9th week top 40.

It's #16 in the mids still, looking to fall a bit, but is looking pretty safe for a 4th week top 20. It'll probably fall quite a bit more next week, (maybe low 20s) but then I'm hoping the RV performance throws it back up to the top 20!

Yeah it's done fantastic, it's sad to see how girl groups struggle to reach the top 10 in the streaming and download era. I hope their fan base start realizing the importance of streaming like Justin Bieber and 1D fans have with their streaming campaigns...

Is a RV performance confirmed then?

Me either, it usually gets really good ratings (higher even than X Factor) so their boost could be significant!

Posted by: mixer01 Nov 24 2015, 05:45 PM

Both versions #24 and #88 having green updates on iTunes (the second version dark green), I think they're around #17 combined. Here's hoping LMLY doesn't freefall too much before the RV performance, we need another last shot at the top 10!

Posted by: Robot Nov 24 2015, 06:01 PM

Regardless of the top 10 peak it missed, it's hung around so well and I can see it at least hitting a ~15 week mark, which is pretty impressive. Some of their others have come and gone but I'd say this has made more of a mark and will have sold better. Plus, it's obviously done wonders for the album so that's another bonus.

Posted by: mixer01 Nov 24 2015, 07:58 PM

They're currently promoting this in Japan where it's just debuted at #80 on the Japan Hot 100. Though Jesy is not with because an ear infection prevented her from flying there. Hope she feels better soon. sad.gif

Just noticed that this is taking off in New Zealand now currently #21 on iTunes there yahoo.gif

Previous peaks in New Zealand:
#15 Wings
#29 Change Your Life
#12 Move
#31 Black Magic

Posted by: mixer01 Nov 25 2015, 05:34 PM

Dropped from the Radio 1 playlist after a good run of 7 weeks, hoping Capital and Heart start playing it a bit more until the RV performance. I still hear Black Magic about 3 times more on Heart (which plays the whole time at our office) than LMLY laugh.gif

Posted by: Joe. Nov 25 2015, 07:56 PM

I don't think Heart play it at all, do they - quite odd. It's still on the Capital playlist for another week, but hasn't been moved up so it'll still be 2/3 plays a day. Radio 1 showed excellent support for the song, hopefully they'll continue to play it after this week, maybe even the Christmas mix <3 Commercial airplay will increase the way Rudimental's has this week, if Royal Variety can push it into the iTunes top ten for a couple of days.

I'm not expecting top 100 officially but it would be nice to see it stay somewhat stable throughout December.

Posted by: mixer01 Nov 25 2015, 08:24 PM

Oh I meant radio in general not Heart which is even more odd I must miss LMLY in the evenings or during smoke breaks laugh.gif

Yeah I really hope the Christmas Mix can get some kind of push with the RV and hopefully TOTP Christmas performances. It should outsell Salute (the single) quite easily.

If streaming picks up it surely will have a shot though? Its sales have been a lot more steady than expected, Royal Variety, TOTP, Christmas Mix airplay are amazing promo...

LMLY should be around #17 in today's chart I imagine and with a very quiet release week ahead it shouldn't drop much in next week's chart either! cheer.gif

It has zero chance of Top 10 now I'm afraid. It'll probably get a bit of a boost on iTunes after the Royal Variety performance but its streaming (or lack of) will always hold it back.

It MIGHT manage a brief re-appearance in the itunes top ten (or close to), but officially is almost impossible. Especially since RV is on a Tuesday, so Their boost will be mid week.

Loads of hits have missed the top 10 with OA releases this year, it doesn't mean what it use to, having a decent stay in the top 40 means a lot more, unlike 'Word Up!'.

Rudimental & Ed Sheeran - Lay It All On Me
Disclosure & Sam Smith - Omen
Macklemore - Downtown
Selena Gomez - Good For You

These are some examples of some On Air releases this year which have all been decent sized hits, which never made the top ten.

To be honest they only thing I watch these days are sales including streams and certifications, I've lost quite a bit of interest in the charts. As long as it goes atleast Silver, thats all that matters to me.

Yep, and it's already their highest selling non-top ten. The way it's going, it'll overtake 'Salute' and possibly 'DNA' and become their 5th highest selling single.

Posted by: mixer01 Nov 27 2015, 05:58 PM

The #13 peak is really such an injustice. I'm predicting it to at least trickle past 270k at some point!

Love Me Like You has already been played twice today on Radio 1 today despite being off the playlist as of today, which means like Wings, DNA, and Black Magic, it'll be continuing rotation after its playlist run.

They performed the Christmas Mix last night on text Santa, but without Jes. What is going on with her? They were also shoved to the very end of the show. :/

Posted by: Jonjowman ⛄ Dec 19 2015, 11:39 AM

Yeah. Why is Jesy missing some vital promo? I would say maybe her ear infection was just that bad, but she performed on XF over the weekend so... (unless it's back - ear infection is THE WORST) but either way, hope she's ok and manages to recover properly!

I was worried to see how they'd work without Jesy, but that performance was really good. Usually when a band member has disappeared from a performance or two, you notice and think "this doesn't work. They're not the same without ..." but in this performance, that didn't cross my mind once, which is a relief.

Crazy to think that this has now outdone 'Move' and 'Wings' in terms of top 40 weeks - it's now second to only 'Black Magic'! What's better is that its chart-run isn't being propped up by streaming like most of today's big hits; its sales-only run is actually even more impressive:

Posted by: Joe ho ho! Dec 27 2015, 05:14 PM

It's crazy how it's sales that have kept this afloat while streaming was never there for it.
It's a shame Radio 1 never really play this since it was taken off the playlist. Usually they still play songs regularly if they've held up well which this has. I really think the live lounge drop out did have a bit of an effect in that regard.

I hope this can go gold at some point!

Posted by: joeefoster Dec 29 2015, 03:49 PM

The girls missed a trick with the Christmas Mix. Had they released that start of December, performed an iconic Mean Girls-style routine on the X Factor Final (of course intertwined with Sax), and released a different Christmas video for it, it could have propelled it into the top 10. But maybe that seems like an awful lot of work just for a top 10 placing. Either way, it's held up a lot longer than I thought it would proving the UK really are here for LM this year.

Posted by: pippa Dec 29 2015, 04:39 PM

This is performing very well in the singles chart, good chart run to date and the sales are building up to very respectable sales. Its a sleeper hit and i believe it has served well for selling what is now their biggest selling album to date.

They did do a video for it, though it was the same. It was being played constantly on Heart, and Radio 1 were ready to start spinning it a lot (mentioned it themselves) but after the live lounge drop, they didn't play it. The only thing that was missing is maybe some front of iTunes advertisement for it. Maybe use it in "hot songs" or in the 59p Christmas batch. But most of the people hearing the Christmas Mix on Heart were just buying the normal version anyway. They probably didn't even realise it was a Christmas version, as it's quite festive anyway, and the mix is very subtle in its changes.

Heart have updated their playlist today by the way - they've gotten rid of the Christmas Mix but replaced it with the normal version (the normal version has never been playlisted by them before).

There's still no chance of top 10 I'm afraid. That opportunity is long passed. But its longevity has more than made up for it. I think it's probably going to be one of Little Mix's most remembered hits.

Posted by: liamk97 Dec 30 2015, 01:16 AM

I'd never have expected this to do as well as it has - next week it'll be their 5th biggest seller and I can see this going Gold given it's still Top 20, which is a great amount for a girl band single in general, not to mention the fact it was an OA/OS release. I suppose it would have been a Top 10 hit if it was held back a month but we all know well enough, particularly in this streaming age, that not making the Top 10 is not a big issue any more. The way this OA/OS release has been handled is fantastic, from when the video was released to when the promotion was placed. Hopefully it paves the way for more kinda fan-based acts, or at least girl/boy bands, to adopt this release strategy because they've shown that if the campaign is handled well and the song itself is good, then there's no reason for a song to drop down the charts to the point where it's too late to resurrect it.

Can't wait for the 'Secret Love Song' campaign to get under way - already been performing well on iTunes after the Jingle Bell Ball so a, surely inevitable, BRITs performance and another clever video should see it be at least a decent running Top 20 hit.

Well at least that's something. I saw the Christmas video and it's basically identical. If only the live lounge drop didn't happen & yes i agree, something like the hot songs category or the 59p would have been amazing for the track. At least we can count on Heart giving it some promo

Chart seems a bit messed up with possibly streaming missing. Little Mix coming for a new peak? Or to re-peak at 13?

Posted by: Jimmy Jam Jan 1 2016, 05:03 PM

Listening to the chart atm, 14 getting played rn, and LMLY hasn't been played yet, so they've at least re-peaked cheer.gif

Yay for a new peak at least

Damn it! 11! Just missing top 10. But amazing to have a new peak cheer.gif

#11 is MUCH better, not to mention extending its impressive chart run.

Exactly cheer.gif I'm just a little gutted, because after like 15, everytime they played a song and it wasn't LMLY, I was just getting more and more excited thinking: omg! they haven't! Have they?

But it's amazing it's peaked again 14 weeks in

Posted by: Serg Mix Jan 1 2016, 05:59 PM

Good for them. dance.gif

Posted by: joeefoster Jan 1 2016, 06:24 PM

Honestly, hands down to them. This song refuses to die

21-30-32-32-28-19-13-13-18-19-22-22-20-11

This has to be the oddest chart run of 2015. Peaking in its 14th week. I'm wondering if this can beat Black Magic's 19 weeks top 40? Maybe 22-29-33-36-38-40 or something as it's bound to fall quite a bit next week.

Posted by: SeanGrey Jan 1 2016, 06:52 PM

That jump though wub.gif

Posted by: Jimmy Jam Jan 1 2016, 07:05 PM

Maybe i'm just being unrealistic because i'm so happy with the new peak laugh.gif but i'm quietly confident this can stick top 15 next week

#10 in Sales this week and #31 in Streaming, but #11 combined?? That's insane ohmy.gif

Pleased and annoyed at the same time that LMLY has climbed and has almost certainly peaked at #11 now. laugh.gif I wasn't expecting it to climb that much in all honesty.

Anyway, despite missing the Top 10, I'm really pleased with how well it's done. A potential 400k+ seller and fantastic longevity is by all means a great result.

Posted by: mr_pmt Jan 3 2016, 10:51 PM

So elated it's got a new peak, in its 14th week too. Amazing!

#11 is a bit frustrating, but I think we all know top 10 just isn't happening and they were miles out saleswise.

I so wish this could have managed a week in the Top 10, but its longevity is very pleasing. I hope it ends up going gold!

Posted by: pippa Jan 4 2016, 02:28 PM

This has achieved a wonderful chart run and i firmly believe it will be around for a few weeks yet and will become one of their biggest selling single to date. Love Me Like You Do will easily manage 400,000.

Haaaaa!

Love Me Like You is back down to where it was at #20 this week. Still holding strong in the top 40 though! I thought people would have found it to Christmassy and it'd freefall in January.

Posted by: Jonjowman ⛄ Jan 5 2016, 07:08 PM

Unpinning this now that SLS is steadily gaining steam. What an interestingly successful singles campaign this has been for them. Initially "flopping" but once promo and airplay kicked in... it stabilised and is one of their top 5 selling singles! *.*

Posted by: Joe. Jan 5 2016, 07:15 PM

It's still got loads of life in it left. Top 5 on airplay, top 20 in the charts and number 2 commercial AirPlay.

Posted by: Jimmy Jam Jan 5 2016, 08:23 PM

that's amazing to be that high still! fully expect this to go Gold, and at least hit 20 weeks before dropping out of the top 40

Posted by: Joe. Jan 6 2016, 08:53 AM

It's freefalling on iTunes somewhat. I hope it manages another week or two top 40 after this week and doesn't dorp out to quickly.

Posted by: Taylor Jago Jan 9 2016, 03:33 PM

I fully expect this to spend at least another month in the top 40. If they perform at the BRITs it could possibly rebound a bit that week aswell.

Yeah, it seems to have collapsed slightly in the past week (good timing tbf; now all the focus can be on SLS). I would love it to stabilise again, but hey, 16 weeks top 40 is nothing to scoff at.

Posted by: mr_pmt Jan 9 2016, 07:11 PM

In that case, it should have no trouble crossing 400,000 sometime soon which is a brilliant result!

Posted by: Jimmy Jam Jan 10 2016, 01:09 AM

I think it might scrape 2, this week in the high 30s and dropping to 40 the week after. Tbh all I'm bothered about now is it going gold, because that would be the cherry on top of a hugely successful singles campaign

Posted by: Defaze Jan 15 2016, 04:14 PM

Down to 36 this week - not really unexpected due to all the Bowie songs, although I wonder if it could recover a little next week?

21-30-32-32-28-19-13-13-18-19-22-22-20-{11}-23-36

Such a baffling chart run. laugh.gif

Posted by: Joe. Jan 15 2016, 04:21 PM

I'd love to see it sneak one more week in, but can see it just missing out. They've passed the torch now, though.

How many consecutive weeks have Little Mix been top 40 now since Black Magic hit 1? I wonder how long Secret Love Song can keep it up?

Posted by: pippa Jan 15 2016, 06:26 PM

Love Me Like You Do will hopefully stay around the lower regions of the charts for a few weeks to come.

Love Me Like You Do dropped to 92 this week so might be on it's way out of the top 100 next week, sorry babe tongue.gif wink.gif

Hope this scrapes another week top 40 though, just to keep sales up, and hopefully go gold soon. More bothered about SLS rn though

Nooo, my favorite from this era too. And one of the best overall. I love the "dance" scene in front of the mirrors and they all look amazing.

Completely agree. The best video they've done. Well executed, cute story, and it fits perfectly with the song wub.gif

The X Factor perf is probably my fave perf of the era so far! Closely followed by the BRITs perf obvz. But I love that they carried the video theme onto the XF perf.

Posted by: Joe. Oct 4 2016, 08:03 AM

If they do a kind of "Little Mix Party" ITV show, hopefully they don't miss a trick and perform the Christmas mix of this.

With autumn setting in, this is really growing on me again. I loved this song so much last year, I love the wintery feeling for it.
