BTW as per last time I hosted the qualifiers are announced in a RANDOM ORDER (apart from one I moved around a bit to avoid a mega anticlimactic ending lol) and DNQs are announced in order from 35th to 21st.

Auto-Qualifier
As if you didn't already know ~ Persephonia are straight through to the final again (an impressive two finals in a row!!1!) with this track which is rather exquisite if I do say so myself. I simply cannot wait to see the points rolling in for it from certain niche countries.

Okay here we go with the actual brand new info. Brace yoselves cos there are four qualifiers per post during the first hour (except when I'm posting DNQs obvz). Gotta fit a lot of songs into 2 hours here, hope y'all can take it in ~
Semi-Final 1: Qualifiers 1 & 2
Excel is in a Wallbra mood as the first qualifier to be announced is Aquafina with the chilled dance sound of Sonny Alven taking them to an eighth consecutive final. Also through is Grace of Unovia, no shocks there as she is emerging as a contender to go two better than even Courtney Barnett according to odds. A third final in a row for Unovia.
Semi-Final 2: Qualifiers 1 & 2
INDIE. We saw less of it this contest than last but it's still getting that representation in the final as Florina make a final return courtesy of Osca. Meanwhile Tartford reap the benefits of recycling their most successful artist, as this makes it two out of two Tartfordian Maria Hazell entries progressing to the final. It's actually their first final since the last Maria track, with 7 DNQs between.

Wow at Maria, I thought that would be very much of an Elitsa & Stoyan result. Not complaining and it's great to have Tartford back though.

Semi-Final 1: Qualifiers 3 & 4
Another country who turned to self-recycling to get back into the final after DNQing with their last two entries, Cumulonimbia are back again with Simon Patterson, this time assisted by some lovely female vox for that wide trancey and cool appeal. Isconia are also back after DNQing twice in a row as they take Best Coast past the semis with a song that sounds remarkably like Best Coast.
Semi-Final 2: Qualifiers 3 & 4
It's nine straight finals for #00274E as they sail through with CamelPhat and A*M*E, shaping up to be another pretty decent sized hit for them. Also through is the floppiest of all floppy nations - don't you know they were the lowest qualifying debut country last month? - Cor Lupus who are two for two so far thanks to A-Trak and Andrew Wyatt.

Semi-Final 1: 35th
I admire your courage for sending this Sangria, but alas people aren't really buying into the whole 50s vibes Hungarian man singing in Japanese for some reason thing. Erik Sumo & The Fox Fairies get the wooden spoon for semi 1 with a total of 13 points, 8 of which came from Beaverdonia.
Semi-Final 2: 35th
It's not a stellar start for our few foreign language entries as two of the four have won wooden spoons. This song is rather curious as well (who knew Danish-language dancehall was even a thing?) but sadly the risk didn't pay off here either, as Raske Penge received the fewest points of all the entries, on just 12, its highest points being 4 each from Daehun and Persephonia.

I thought Sangria would have gotten a FEW more points whether ironic or not, it never sounded like a total write-off to me and is actually rather interesting. I'd have considered it in semi 1 certainly. Didn't get Tinnmark at all though and I normally do with weird things like that.

Now this I really don't get at all, I thought this song would actually have done quite well as it has quite a CHVRCHES-esque feel to it but alas Priest came second last for poor brave Quintessa with 15 points, its highest being 7 from Isconia.
Semi-Final 2: 34th
Ugh it's like a full post of reinforcing everyone's inexplicable racism, Varakë have sadly also come second last with Jake Miller receiving 13 points including 7 from Ojnoj. Not such a high profile return

I'm willing to bet very few people ranked Priest in their bottom 10, just none of them would have ranked it very higher that either. It's nice but it felt very anonymous, as much as it should have wide appeal, that appeal is just too diluted to get anywhere.

Ethanola plus chilled vibes is rarely a formula for success and it certainly wasn't this time as Sirens Of Lesbos go out in 33rd, with 16 points including 8 from biggest fans Vülkyria.
Semi-Final 2: 33rd
OOPS. Sorry to spoil the 50th anniversary celebrations but Magnus Carlsson's Melfest reject doesn't even come close to returning Numayania to the final, starting to get a bit silly now as the former BJSC giant nation have now DNQed with each of their last 9 entries. Magnus got a full 12 from Sandebörg but only 6 points from the other nations for a total of 18. Foreign language hopes now rest entirely on Perfume.

Well I was never the biggest fan of Magnus in Melfest but SHAME. Numayania really having a tough time of it lately. In fact all the DNQed nations so far have been having dire times in the last few contests.

Semi-Final 1: Qualifiers 5 & 6
I've been hyping Espen as a WINNER since before all the entries were even in. That remains to be seen but Etienne De Crécy and Madeline Follin clear the first hurdle of qualifying at least, ending a streak of 2 DNQs for Espen. Jayrusalem always say they won't enter but this marks four times in a row that they have and they've got to the final all four times, as Adam Rickfors and Marylin sail through. Wewp.
Semi-Final 2: Qualifiers 5 & 6
Evil dictatorship Altyr Muunilinst have clearly bribed their way into the final again as Kasper Bjřrke and Sísý Ey grant them a second final appearance in a row after they came last in their semi () the time before that. Oslol's copyright difficulties prove not to be entirely in vain as Elle King ends their two-month exile from the BJSC final. I suspect bribes even more here as the song is barely listenable but the people have spoken.

Skall's return after a one month break / hissyfit (
) is more fruitful than their last attempt, as Gallant is safely through to the final. Cadelicia are through to a second final in a row and possibly hoping for a second biggish hit in a row with ALMA.
Semi-Final 2: Qualifiers 7 & 8
Séyetana have pulled off the unbelievable feat of seamlessly going from rock to hip-hop and making the final both times (if only they'd done it with ponies the previous contest). Though I'm not sure how they survived the veto with JAY Z... [/spevor]. Goodbye Tomorrow are an excellent qualifier to provide a bit of variety and annoy Johnkm. Also, one of our foreign language entries has qualified after all, hooray! Perfume make it in for Greenfroze, giving them a third qualifier in a row.

A bit gutted that 'America's Sweetheart' has qualified this month when my absolute fave of the competition 'Electric Bones' couldn't last month, but oh well, congrats!

Semi-Final 1: 32nd
Singerpurear are 32nd for a second month in a row although this time it's just in the semi. Order Of Era have actually done quite well to avoid the bottom 3 I feel, a classic song it may be but it was never going to have BuzzJack spaffing over it. Its 18 points include top contributions of 6 each from B.a.N.G and Sangria.
Semi-Final 2: 32nd
Perhaps a little too 'avant garde' (did I use that phrase correctly IDEK) for BJSC, sadly Cuushe goes out in 32nd for Utopia with 22 points including a full 12 from N DNTN.

Usfland have achieved the UNIQUE feat of missing the semi-final top 30 on three occasions. At least that's one thing they can take from another underperformance. DIIV got 28 points, its highest being 10 from Isconia.
Semi-Final 2: 31st
Flynnonda sadly will remain the only currently active country to have never made a final as MORRT falls short as Lux Lisbon did last month. MORRT received 24 points including 7 each from Cor Lupus and Varakë.

I never knew downtempo drum n bass was a thing. Not sure it's likely to catch on on BuzzJack though as Etherwood go out in 30th for Thelonia with 31 points, top supporters being Aeroche who gave him 10 points.
Semi-Final 2: 30th
Ultraviolenceland sadly return to their habit of DNQing after making it with their last two entries, Blaise was a last minute replacement for Katy Tiz who probably would have done much better. Oops. Blaise picked up Taahino's 12 and 34 points in total.

Quintessa and Varakë may have gone but at least Terra Avium racism was avoided this time as semi 1 openers Coyote Kisses return them to the final, meaning all (2) of this month's instrumentals are in the final!!! Aeroche also extend their current qualification streak to 1, 2, 3... well, it's only 3 so that joke doesn't really work. But yes, Samantha Urbani up.
Semi-Final 2: Qualifiers 9 & 10
Shock qualifier time! PRoJ were pretty much the only country I was sure had no chance in semi 2 (okay, maybe Tinnmark too) but against the odds Amber Run have successfully returned them to the final More indie in the final hooray. On the opposite end of the credibility spectrum (in the nicest way possible) are Maliibu N Helene who make it 2 finals out of 2 for Aprogonia. Hushkanukia are on their way to following 5 DNQs with 5 Qs, Daniella Mason providing their fourth qualifier in a row. Some may be surprised to find out I was very vaguely considering sending this song myself at one stage Fljótavík are back in the final after 2 DNQs and WHAT a return to form with the swoon-worthy brilliance of Space Above. <333
Semi-Final 2: Qualifiers 11 & 12
Hendinia haven't set the contest alight this year but they are still qualifying pretty consistently, Allie X is their fifth qualifier in a row and odds and predix suggest it'll be their first proper hit for a while. Pavita suffers the ignominy of being put through with this Skype heaux. The wounds are still fresh from Zhala's flop of last month but she has greater appeal representing π for whom it's a second qualifier in a row. To be fair, it is a much better song.

Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this. Well, not really. Avalonia's grand return amounts to 26th place with 39 points, though that does include the CROWN JEWEL of 12s, FSR Rontvia's, so that's a thing at least. I actually really like this song, a bit of a shame to see it gone already.

So close yet so far for B.a.N.G's latest return as this lovely track from Japanese Wallpaper and Airling falls short in 25th, picking up a fair few small points but not many big ones. It did get 10 from Quintessa contributing to an overall total of 41 points.
Semi-Final 2: 25th
Bah humbug. My main reason for delaying this whole contest a couple of days (), Syndare unfortunately haven't done too well out of it with Mura Masa coming a criminally low 25th. Its 40 point total includes a 12 from Kluminican Republic and the song was also in three other nations' top 3s but got just 2 more points from the other 31 voters combined.

FSR Ashvia announced in consecutive posts!!! Though it's sad news for the Federal Republic as Daphne & Celeste have DNQed for them, rather surprised to be honest as it's actually a shockingly good song and the best Ashton entry in God knows how long. Then again, it is Daphne & Celeste. The twosome brought in 42 points including 10 from Botanikka.
Semi-Final 2: 24th
It sadly is an end to the qualification streak for Taahino but not by an enormous margin, as Set It Off finish 24th with 49 points, 14 fewer than 20th place. I do approve of us having a permanent rock-oriented (well, pop rock but yeah) nation and hope this won't put them off the genre for life. As if I even need to say it, Set It Off's biggest fans were Séyetana who gave them their 12.

AND SO IT IS that the fates of last month's debuts are repeated, with Jadakissnia following Cor Lupus and Aprogonia into a second consecutive qualification. Poor brave dejected Flynnonda. Jadakissnia easily come out on top of the four quality-wise again this month with this utter stunner of a track from ONUKA, but the three-way (lewd) fight between Jadakissnia, Aprogonia and Cor Lupus for final supremacy is on again

JUST SAYING re: Syndare, I absolutely adore 'Lovesick Fuck' but it was possibly the song that sounded LEAST like a BJSC hit from his EP. I had hoped he'd qualify anyway but I'm not MASSIVELY shocked that he didn't.

Vülkyria's entry by former UK #1 artist (OMG cheap!!1!) Jax Jones samples the flawless classic and one of the best sangs of all time 'Unfinished Sympathy' by Massive Attack. Jax Jones does what the original never did and actually makes it to the final. Seriously, 'Unfinished Sympathy' was entered to BJSC and didn't even qualify. Look it up. Outrage. This is Vülkyria's second consecutive qualification. Wewp.
Semi-Final 2: Qualifier 18
No shocks here as one of those rare good entries by Sandebörg is safely through, returning them to the final after their flop of last month. Lo-Fi-Fnk previously came second in BJSC to a Hendinian entry. Both this and Hendinia's latest are being tipped as contenders - will history repeat itself, albeit with much less Wiley???

Pfft I bet if this was by Iggy Azalea it would have WON. Sarai, 2003's obscure version of the controversial black culture appropriating bitch rapper unfortunately falls just short of the final for Harmonica, picking up 43 points including a full 12 from the Federal Republic of Ashton.
Semi-Final 2: 23rd
They didn't get a deduction this time but sadly Kluminican Republic have failed to qualify in my contest once again with this wonderfully quirky offering from LCMDF. Should have just allowed Vanic through tbh. #Justice4Klum. This song earned 50 points, including Greenfroze's 12. PRoJ awarded it no points despite sending LCMDF themselves twice in past contests, what kind of betrayal?

Nothing fills me with joy quite like Ramrynia DNQing <3 No but seriously, I was pretty surprised to see this not making it and it is a bit of a shame to see Ramrynia failing with one of their RELATIVELY inspired moments (though still pretty damn uninspired xo) but alas SLO falls just a bit short, with 47 points. It had the most votes - 12 - out of the songs to not qualify this month, but made the top 3 of only Singerpurear who gave it 8 points.

Semi-Final 1: Qualifier 19
FARC are on a good run at the moment and aim to keep up the momentum with Cassian and Cleopold who see them through to a fifth consecutive final. Will it match the top 10 success of their last two entries though? ~o~
That leaves the final scrap for semi 1 between D'YERMAK'ER and N-LAZONE (who always seem to be right at the end of these reveals). Gah.
Semi-Final 2: Qualifier 19
Okay I'm going to admit here that Excel originally drew for this to be the last semi 2 qualifier revealed, I moved it up because this is pretty much the single most obvious qualifier of the whole lot and I want there to be SOME tension. I trust it's been tense enough for Yuhin himself anyway as he always seems to think he'll DNQ but he never actually does, Karin Park gives him a (current) record extending SIXTEENTH qualifier in a row and seems well poised to be a sixth top 10 in a row. 'Restless' was better tbh.
The final spot in semi 2 belongs to either TRIFOSKI or YEHESI. Cue comments about agenda. Also, Yehesi being left till last again! Oops.

N-Lazone then are in the final once more, they have been silently slaying this year as Sinead Harnett gives them a fourth straight qualifier. Perhaps they will finally get that top 10 hit at some point this year. Could it even be this?

Yehesi have fallen agonisingly close to the final in a way which could almost incriminate the whole vetogate situation. Gah. But although Don Diablo and Maluca came 21st, they were much further off qualifying than the equivalent position in semi 1, receiving 54 points compared to 63 for 20th place. I doubt vetogate made as much as 9 points difference so I'm in the clear. Apols to Yehesi nonetheless. They did get a 12 from Cor Lupus if that's any consolation.
And finally the supposed 'anti-Trifoski agenda' is yet again conclusively proven to not exist, as Django Django take the last slot in semi 2 to secure a return to the final for the nation. SevenSeize reportedly 'reeling'

Just catching up, I couldn't bring myself to follow the results as closely as I did in the previous two contests, I was pretty sure I wasn't qualifying this time around so I'm not surprised, It seems the entries of mine that I love the most are flopping the hardest
The worst part is, I was sure I was entering Set It Off since before last month's Semi Finals and was really excited to enter them, pretty much the day after I confirmed them I was considering changing my entry, I so wish I had done now, at least I have something ready for next month though I think my future strategy will to pick something that I think you lot will like apposed to what I like, although rock(ish) music seems to be Taahino's trademark now 
So many songs that I was rooting for are through already, particularly happy to see Allie X and Halsey qualify and ofc Hushkanukia Gutted for Ultraviolenceland though

Really, the fact that you've given even just one person a truly great discovery can be rewarding even if the majority don't get it.

It's fine to send what you think other people will like but make sure you love it as well, that's how you get the most out of the contest or it'll feel all the more empty if it fails.
Feel free to go beyond your comfort zone though, I consider 'rockish' music my home base and even then I go beyond it all the time if I have a great song that's nowhere near it to send.

That's sort of what I did last month! I switched my entries just before the semis opened. I knew most people would like it but I wasn't behind it really and in the end it felt like a false victory getting to the semi and then finishing top 15. Also the track was quite housey which I'm not usually a fan of.
This month however I absolutely love my entry!

Aw my DNQ looked kinda obvious after the predictions, appears to be a bit too marmite with three top 3s and three sets of low points, nothing really in the middle Maybe I should've saved it for BJ Fest after all
On the plus side I'm happy to see Bellamia crash out so that our pattern of qualifying and not qualifying together lives on In fact Joseph probably cursed me to DNQ.

Not even REMOTELY surprised at SLO failing to make the cut. It's good and all, but it's far too subtle to ever have been a BJSC smash. I may just be unfairly comparing it to SONG OF LIFE For My Sins though.
Also, BOO HISS at Merely not making it. Stunning song.

Jester being beaten to SLO and then qualifying with his backup against literally all expectations while SLO ended up DNQing is one of the more surprising turns of events I can remember in BJSC!

Another 'shock' Desbuanda qualifier in a Persephonia-hosted contest (after 'Graveyard Whistling' went through to the LXVIII final with 0/9 predictions) *.* Clearly Bray is something of a good luck charm for me and should host more contests as I also fluked my way to victory in his round of Pointless in the Lounge.
Seriously though, thanks so much to everyone who voted for 'Calling Out'! I really love it and was convinced it'd DNQ based on the utter lack of hype / overall quality of Semi 2 so it qualifying was a wonderful surprise.
