So we're coming to that time of the year where we are about to get some news on the first single from the next album.
What would you guys like to hear from them? Something like 'Move' again? A pretty risky single choice but ultimately pays off, or something a little more predictable/safe, but still strong like 'Wings'? Or would you like to hear them continue with the "military" style of 'Salute'?
Discuss all news/rumours about the LEAD single in here. Everything else to do with album 3 can stay in http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=164775 topic. Thank you!
I think I preferred Wings. Move is a good track but the styling of themselves for DNA as a whole era was something I preferred.
I'd like to hear some big mid-tempo song like Change Your Life or the one with darker melodies like DNA / You Got The Love
Move is my favourite single from them, so I'd prefer that over any other single they've had, but I hope the new single paves a new path and not copy of an old style but is generally a progression of the Salute era sound rather than a completely different direction.
I want uptempo though that is for sure. I would maybe settle for a mid, but certainly not a ballad. Actually I wouldn't mind if they skipped a ballad completely as a single for this era, they have stunning ones, but single wise they don't get it right.
I'm just super excited for this era, my expectations are way too high though.
No 'Little Me'/'Change Your Life' as singles please. I'm over them now.
Something like "DNA". That's still my favourite LM single by far!
Move got it's first airplay six weeks before and if this follows a similar pattern it means we might hear is next week, or the week after. What does everyone think?
^ Going by their new fan club app, they haven't chosen the single yet and are still writing for the album. I'm starting to worry we won't get the album this year.
I don't think the album will be coming this year as something would have been announced by now I feel. They'll probably still be a single though.
I think the album is coming in December... I don't think syco would release it at the lowest selling point in the year
New member here
I'm hoping the new single premieres in January through February or even March looks more realistic. They're working with some great people this time around so I'm excited to hear what they bring to the table.
JesyMix
Hopefully your arrival to the forum will be joined swiftly with news about the single from the girls!
Hi JesyMix and welcome to the Little Mix forum (and Buzzjack too ofc ). This place will be a lot more active very soon, especially on my behalf! Just need to find time, now that I have a working laptop again
I prefer the first single like Move all the ways. Such a great tune.
I am surprised they didnt have a single out.
It's apparantly called Grown?
I'd be happy with an album of 'Move' and 'Stand Down'
Haven't watched that video but isn't it the track they worked on with Jess Glynne?
They revealed on the Brits red carpet that they've chosen the lead single. They say it's a "whole new sound" for them. They later revealed that their album is 80s influenced.
Songwriter Camille Purcell (Boy, Nothing Feels Like You, Good Enough + The Saturdays, Ella Henderson) fav'd & RT'd some tweets about LM's lead single so I'm assuming that she co-wrote it.
This is going to be titled 'Black Magic' if this ATRL topic has put the facts together correctly: http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=792454
A song about sex with African American men? Weird for them
Leigh-Anne's mom confirmed that it's the first single on Twitter! So excited!
I'm heavily intrigued by the title, definitely a stand out name for a single in comparison to their previous.
Love the single name. Hopefully we hear it soon.
Predicting this to sound very "Dark Horse"-ish.
Excited !!
I hope they continue the DC-esque music. So far that's been their best, and I might be able to get behind them for good if they follow that path.
https://twitter.com/LittleMix/status/590113931542327296
One would assume it's for this?
Apparently the video is going to be based on 'The Craft'. I'm so incredibly hyped for this.
IT'S HAPPENING!!!
So much for them doing something unexpected or very different. It seems like they have taken a step back and went back to the sound of DNA. In a way, I understand they want to play it safe since it's a first single, but they seem like the kind of group that can actually take a risk now. They have had two successful eras, it seemed like the appropriate moment. Now I'm afraid the album won't sound cohesive between their "different" material and this pop mess.
Shame.
I was excited about them doing something similar to 'The Craft' ( ), but I think the track feels way too upbeat and cute for that of ambiance in a video. I guess it will still follow a similar pattern in which four awkward high school girls get together, practice magic and I suppose they'll be popular by the end of the video? It's not exactly what I had in mind at first...
Shame, again.
DNA remains their best single, besides Move though?
Damn, missed hearing all the previews before they got taken down but I can't WAIT for this. Been too long
(realistically it hasn't, it just feels like it)
Obviously the clip is so short and low quality so we can't say we can take much from it but it would seem as though it is poppier and definitely closer to the sound of the first album. For me, the decision to (possibly) go back to the cheesy pop stuff would be one of the strangest career moves ever. They set up themselves up with the 'Salute' era as a potentially great R&B girlband and that album felt like it only scratched the surface of what they were capable of if they continued to develop this more mature and overall far more well-rounded sound. To set yourself up in such good stead to get away from just a purely teenage fanbase, and to do so with mass critical acclaim and also commercial success, with the strength of the new sound making the sophomore slump relatively painless, made it seem like they had the potential to really take their career in a new direction and become a girlband who could really last over time. A return to the pure pop sound of their first era would be entirely foolish and a real artistic misstep. Got to just hope that the snippet is misleading of the sound they are going with this era.
Perhaps the album is going to be a product of both album one and two, with the lead being more associated with one?
From Capital's twitter...
I wonder where Leigh Anne got those shorts they are gorgeous.
I presume they'll premiere the track on Capital next week when they're there, I hope so anyway it's definitely the best station to do it.
AHH I want this now, I have high hopes because both of their lead singles have been flawless so far. Don't let me down girls!
I would love something unexpectedly amazing like Move.
please please please can we have another 'move'
New single from @LittleMix is very 80's and very different to everything they have done before! The vid has them acting and is coming! Max x
From Capital. Exciting!!
Ooh! Promising news to know that Capital may actually be on board for the new era if they have tweeted about that! I'm thinking they'll get the premiere! Now all we need are dates and we are set!
Capital were always weird when it came to Little Mix. They heavily supported the pre album singles but nothing else. I am thinking it'll be the same for them this time round as well.
This premieres on Capital on Monday 25th May, according to JosepVinaixa (who is pretty much always reliable)
I really like the artwork. The artwork from the first era was DREADFUL and I quite liked the artwork from the second era but this looks promising!
Love the cover, so cute!
The radio premiere is on the 26th of May!
https://instagram.com/p/2qyBQAuGW9/
Love the artwork
About time we had some new Little Mix look forward to hearing!
The new artwork is terrible! It's not even a nice picture of them.
I'm looking forward to hearing the full song.
Yeah that cover isn't particularly good, it just looks like another Salute single going by that 30 Days teas.
What kind of basic ugly mess
That artwork is awful, and really doesn't go with the title 'Black Magic' which I associate with something a bit more moody.
Looking forward to hearing the song though. Hoping Little Mix will finally manage that 10/10 moment with me.
Its leaked...
http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/little-mix-black-magic/
Genuinely already my favourite Little Mix single.
I am in love with this! Agree with the above, probably my favourite single already.
Black Magic >>>> Wings > Move
Sonically, it's not what I wanted from them. I wanted them to improve on their 'Salute' sound and stick with that. However, as a pop song, it's SO GOOD. Really loving it.
Yeh, disapointing really, I was hoping they would continue the 'Salute' sound but I guess Fifth Harmony have taken over their R&B sound in Simon Cowell's eyes. It lacks identity for me, it could be sung by anyone.
Parts of it I love, but others, I feel a bit "eh". Not bad though, more of the chanty bits woulda been nice.
Slain omg this is SO good. Seriously.
I've only heard a part of it, I'll listen in full soon, but it seemed a little bit basic and a regression. Hopefully the full thing will impress me later!
Very underwhelming after the bops Salute produced...
Definitely a strong, catchy pop song but I agree with others that it lacks identity and seems too 'young' for them at this stage, especially after the more interesting and inspired stuff on 'Salute'. I really like the verses but the chorus is way too cheesy.
It's completely different to the previous singles by them. But it's definitely a summer song. I really like a jam of this song.
It's very poppy for them, I'm getting 'Disco Love' vibes from this!
It's a strong song though, intrigued to see how they do after leaving it quite a while.
*edit - also after one listen parts of the chorus are making me think of the "you don't have the right to tell me" part of 'Mr. Know It All'.
Slight step back for me.
The chorus is good and it's catchy, it's very pop though. I enjoyed the last albums 90s R&B influence, I'm hoping the album will have more of the sound from Salute.
This is so cheesy and absolutely NOT the kind of music that they should be making four years into their career but I can't help but love it 😬 Hopefully the album is made of stronger material but I'll take this for now as they've not released anything for 15(?) months.
The verses are ok, but the chorus too cheesy.
It sounds like a album track I'd rather avoid. Not a fan.
I LOVE THIS. It's so cute! I don't think it's actually a regression as such, it feels very 80s which I wouldn't say the first album sounded like, it's just a different variation of pop. It's kinda going along a Carly Rae Jepsen kinda line and I'm really loving it, undeniably so catchy. I can see the Disco Love comparison actually, but I do prefer it to that.
OH THANK GOD
I can finally hop back on board the Little Mix train after being resolutely nonplussed by basically the entirety of 'Salute'. HUGE chorus, overwhelming sense of joy and just generally a super catchy, fun pop song.
Not as good as 'Move' but I prefer it to the rest of the singles from the previous era. So catchy and only going to be a bigger jam on repeated listens.
This is awesome, so much more instant than 'Move'. The intro is incredible.
I am so unbelievably hyped for the video now.
The video on Page 4 isn't working. Where can I hear this? HELP.
This is really good and not as cheesy as some of you are making out. Still packs some punch especially in the verses and the chorus is SO catchy.
I can't really take the single cover seriously though. Jesy looks GONE with that smile & hairline so far back :S
This is amazing! Completely sold on first listen. Yeah I'd love another Move but this is still amazing and very instant. I hope it can be a big hit for them.
I think this is a really good progression actually. People see it as a regression but I think that, whilst it's poppy like their debut album it maintains a bit of a funky feel like Move for example. It's a good mix and I hope it's indicative of the whole album <3
Does this remind anyone else of 'Want You To Want Me' by Jason Derulo?
It is a good pop song but so far from what I want from them. If this had been the lead for the second album I would have been all over it but I feel like their second album showed the massive potential they had in the R&B route and therefore I can't help but find this massively disappointing. I am sure I will really enjoy it in a very much flash in the pan hit way, but can't see it helping them gain a lasting career or any band identity.
I really like this! Love the 80s vibe.
I wouldn't say it's a regression, but maybe a diversion... we'll have to wait and see re: their third album sound and find out if they've stepped away from the r'n'b present on Salute, or not.
They've already said a lot of the album is 80s influenced so I can see plenty in this vein, but I really wouldn't complain. Sure, the route they were going was great and more credible for from my perspective, if they're going to produce stuff like this then I'm perfectly happy for them not to be "credible" but it's just great, fun pop done very well.
It's not that it's a regression for me, it's just that it literally lacks identity. It could be sang from any random flopstar to someone like Rita Ora which is it a bit strange considering this is from a third album and they had been going on a natural progression up to this point.
It's better than I thought it'd be but glad they've combined the sound of DNA/Salute together almost!
I absolutely love this! It's a great catchy pop song, it just feels so effortless. The vocals are fantastic of course. This is going to be MASSIVE!
I was intrigued by their big come back, especially after Simon tweeted that its the best single yet. I'm not a fan, but can appreciate them after being a massive Spice Girls, GA and Sats fan.
Have to say this is not that strong, its very poppy and happy but its not very... Little Mix? If The Sats released this, it wouldn't be out of place, but I thought LM was edgy? This is like a mix of Disco Love and a Katy Perry song. Not very original. Saying that, maybe this will bode well for them and reach more? Who knows! Its a no from me, but as long as the fans enjoy it, thats all that matters
I still can't at the cover tho
It's nice.
It's nothing special and their fanbase alone will get it tip 10 but it's such a step down from previous material, low sales should help it get top 5 but it will drop 'faster than the speed of light' crazy how i miss you, i'm hurting deep inside .
Lovely little pop song, but it does feel like a step backwards after the last album, and that this will be the beginning of their decline. Perhaps. Pure pop could always use another flagbearer, but I doubt it'll be this for very long. I'm not getting very excited about this while I was after Move hit me.
Finally listened to this in full, it is a fantastic pop song. I still stick by my initial opinion that it seems they've got back to a more 'DNA' type sound, but with a bit of a twist but that's no problem when the song is as good as this.
However, it doesn't scream #1 hit to me but top 5 should be certain considering they've already got Capital on board for the radio premiere tomorrow.
I think "regression" is the wrong word to use for this. It's definitely more 'DNA'-pop than 'Salute'-pop, but I'd definitely say it's a step forward and more of a progession in the pop sound that they used for the first era. As I've said before, it'd have been nice to have seen them stick to the less predictable sound of the 2nd album, but if this is the standard of pop that they're going to give us (and I'm sure this is just to help them breakthrough even more in the US) then I'm all for it It reminds me of 'Want U Back' by Cher Lloyd!
On VEVO now for those in need of an easier listen. I literally can't shift this from my head, so so infectious
Now in the top 30, at #30! (I'll probably do a couple of updates - I want to see where this peaks on pre-orders!)
#26 now! Higher than both 'Move' and 'Wings' got I believe. I hope they add it to Spotify soon, so they can gain a bit of traction on streaming before release.
Sales are lower right now than they were at the times 'Wings' & 'Move' were put up for pre-order, weren't they? So I think all in all they've balanced out! I'm really hoping this can be massive for them. Quality pop <3
Bit early maybe but...
01. Move
02. Black Magic
03. Salute
04. Wings
05. DNA
06. Word Up
07. Change Your Life
08. How Ya Doin?
This is FABULOUS.
That cover tho..
Absolutely loving this!
This chorus is SO good. I've always really liked Little Mix but I wasn't expecting much since all their hype seemed to be gone; I was wrong. I think this is a lot better than this year's pure pop hits (LMLYD, IRLY, WTWM) so I hope it can go top 3 at least.
1. Move
2. DNA
3. Black Magic
4. Wings
5. Salute
6. Cannonball (the only one of the last 4 XF winner's singles I like)
7. Little Me
8. Word Up!
9. How Ya Doin'?
10. Change Your Life
It's very poppy. I love it.
^ 'Want to Want Me' I'm guessing.
Loving this. I loved 'Move' and 'Salute' but I'm happy for them to go down the pure pop route if they're going to do it this well!
Yeah I meant 'Want To Want Me'
Oh, go on then!
01. Salute
02. DNA
03. Black Magic
04. Move
05. Cannonball >> NOT EVEN SORRY TBH. <<
06. Wings
07. Change Your Life
08. Little Me
09. Word Up!
10. How Ya Doin'?
All at least a 7 for me though! (bar WU & HYD - which are solid 6's)
---
This is now at #29 on Pre-Orders. I think it peaked at #25 earlier, but it's not falling anywhere near as much as I was expecting it to at the moment!
#25 is a pretty respectable peak, I thought it'd stop at about #40 so it outdid my expectations there! Glad to see they still have a pretty big fanbase which should hopefully serve them another pretty successful era. I don't see them ever being huge whatever they release, there just isn't a big demand for them or girlbands at the moment but I can see them being consistently appreciated and popular for some time.
Just heard a clip of this and absolutely love it. When's it released?
Sounds already great on first listen! hope the pre-orders are indicating that it's going to do well
That's ages away but time to build the momentum I guess...
It peaked at #23 on iTunes I think!
Just got around to listening to this. It's OK. Not my cup of tea but of course it will do well. It sounds like a bunch of other songs mashed together. I hear the Want To Want Me comparison and the instrumental gives me I Wanna Dance With Somebody vibes. Most of all, the chorus sounds just like the pre-chorus on Samantha Jade's Up...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3098386/Little-Mix-transform-pop-vixens-nerds-high-school-inspired-Black-Magic-video.html
Really excited for this video!
Just heard this for the first time. It's a great little pop song and the video looks like it'll be great, quite Katy Perry-esque. It's not as good as 'Move' and I feel like this should've been the single between the 'DNA' and 'Salute' albums, seems to be bridge those two eras quite well.
This grows on every listen I'm loving it now exicted for the video it looks very good.
Video is premiering on FRIDAY!
TWO DAYS! *.*
The pre-order for this is doing astonishingly well considering it's not out for ages. The initial fan-buys will have died down now, so it looks like the little airplay it's getting is actually generating proper interest. I don't want to jinx it, but #159 5/6 weeks before release would usually say number 1 to me.
It's doing incredibly well, I'm so shocked! Usually pre-orders with fanbases have quite a 'Pretty Girls' run, go top 40 and then slump back to about #500/600 until closer to the release date. That's what I expected, but instead it's sitting at #132 now with so many weeks to go and it's reminding me more of how 'I Will Never Let You Down' did on pre-orders.
I hadn't really thought they were capable of getting another #1 until now where I'm starting to think MAYBE just maybe it could happen. I won't get my hopes up too much but this is very promising.
Also, don't believe this has been posted yet:
Looks like it's gonna be great fun, as the teaser pics suggested!
Was just about to come and post that!
JADE <3
The song is up to #125, all this is from is Capital playing it a bit over the past couple of days. It's not even on Radio 1's playlist yet, nor has the video been released. I said I wouldn't jinx it but think #1 is looking more and more likely.
Based on that snippet this could be their best video yet, makes a change from the mundane "lets dance in a warehouse" kinda videos we've had before!
EASILY their best video! Jesy looks incredible! Maybe a bit too much CGI and effects but definitely my favourite of their videos!
Slay my existence Jade. Even when looking dorky and the others dressed sexy, she still slays them all
The song is growing on me as well!
the song and video are clunky as f*** and i don't get the american high school appropriation for a british girlgroup it feels try hard and disingenuous and the melody doesn't fit the narrative of the video whatsoever.
what a shocking disappointment and a total bump in the road for their career. it really will be a flash in the fanbase pan sort of hit...
Great video, definitely one of their best I would say. I agree with Defaze, it fits the song very well I think.
Jade as a geek though
such a fantastic start to this campaign! its v katy perry!
The video is like Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Exactly what I was expecting from the video and I wasn't disappointed. I love how they used the chorus as "the curse"/"spell". It all worked so well and I agree with Tim, Jade was bloody amazing.
I really can't get enough of this!
OMG I'm such a sucker for video's like this. Brilliantly done. Very Sabrina The Teenage Witch esque (as been mentioned already) but there's nothing wrong with that and it only goes on to enhance the song for me. The girls all look fabulous in it too. Gahh it's so geeky and fun
Easily my favourite video by them as well running close with 'DNA' and 'Salute'.
The video is trending in the top 3 on Facebook *.*
Don't like the song or Little Mix very much, but I have to say, Jade's acting in the video was fantastic!
Their best video will always be "Salute", that can't be topped tbh.
Good video tho, and the song is still flawless.
I need this on Spotify like today. Her best video and they truly deserve that #1 for this tune <3.
The video is decent. I like it more after reading comparisons to 'Sabrina The Teenage Witch' because that show is everything.
The song is still fantastic too. Doing BRILLIANTLY on pre-orders so hopefully a big hit for them. My favourite lead single from them <3
Oh my I LOVE the video <3 Perfect fit for the song and they all look amazing! I really hope this is a big hit, what a brilliant little pop song <3
LOVE the video fits the song perfectly really can see this being a big hit for them here and if promoted well in the US as well.
I LOVE THAT. So great to see them doing something not even just a bit away from their usual "dancing in a warehouse" style, but a total different but superb direction. It really brings out the fun in their personalities that make them such a likeable band in the first place.
Everything about this is spot on so far. They waited too long for the video of Move and it took ages for momentum to build (it seemingly only actually became popular once it hit the charts) but the timing has been great for this and I think the change in direction works so well for them.
Now #74 on iTunes aswell!
Their lead singles have been amazing, 'Wings', 'Move' & 'Black Magic' have all been flawless. BM it's so catchy it's unreal, it's really fun without being cheesy, Jade in the video is amazing too! Exciting to see it doing so well on pre-orders as well.
I really enjoyed the video! It's nice to see them doing something completely different. I echo others, Jade is delightful.
The song continues to work its magic on me too!
This is the best bit of the video:
Music video is great. It's a good choice to go for a concept video with a narrative to get people's interest. It's something I always wish the Saturdays had done to help sell their singles instead of the formulaic standing/walking looking pretty.
cute tbh, defiantly the best they've looked and certainly their most likeable moment imo
PLUS LEIGH ANNE LOOKS SOOOO GOOD OMG 10000% my faveourite
It's such a step down from 'Salute' and it just feels weird to say R&B is their sound and for them to return to pop. I guess it was more Simon's choice rather than the girls as I doubt he would want two girlbands on his label releasing the same genre.
If I was Simon I would release 'Black Magic' on Sunday and book them a BGT performance, it's doing incredibly well on Pre-orders and I'm sure it could still manage #01 if it had a BGT performance behind it.
Not showing any signs of dipping on iTunes. Radio 1 played it earlier. This is going to be really big for them.
88 Little Mix Black Magic
Love this so much, the video and song are so catchy and amazing
I am shamefully loving this now, having not liked any of their singles except DNA
This is easily the best single they've released imo. I've played it 39 times since last night lol.
Incredible! *.*
Avicii's new single, which is quickly gaining popularity (and streams) has now changed it's release to the same week as this. It'll be an exciting chart battle, but hopefully Little Mix have this in the bag!
I really don't think they need to bring the release date forward. I think nowadays, if there's a huge demand for a song and it gets so high on pre-orders well after the initial hype, then I think this is where releasing it to streaming early could benefit it and be more effective! Release it for streaming instead of releasing it a week or two earlier I think!
Black Magic would get #1 if it were released this Sunday. I hate when labels unnecessarily hold back singles when they look ready to be #1 weeks in advance.
Seeing as Jason Derulo only sold 75k last week, and Little Mix are only a little bit lower than Carly Rae Jepsen was before going onto sell 85k (Yes, her pre-order had been up longer, but she peaked nowhere near as high as #23), it's very possible they would go to straight to #1 next week, if not, then certainly the week after.
I'm so pleased with how this is performing in pre-orders so far. How likely is R1 to playlist this next week?
I am on the verge of getting obsessed with this song and video now. Very very lovely stuff on both fronts, it's really very much what they should be doing, and I was initially disappointed after expecting some next-level left-field to follow Salute. That wouldn't be doing so well on pre-orders, and I'm glad it's looking like a massive hit for them, would be a very pleasant #1. Because despite the 'Black Magic' dress-up, it's really very 'white, wholesome magic' in its presentation. And I don't mind that, Little Mix do light pop very well.
This better be Number One. The thought of that Avicii track beating this isn't a nice one.
original is OK, I like more Cahill remix
^ That remix is great
This is Radio 1's track of the day today, so I'm guessing it'll get playlisted tomorrow
Still as high as 66 on iTunes. I can't believe how massive this is going to be for them. With Girlbands fizzeling out all over the world, for the UK especially, Little Mix was all we had. Though they had a perfectly succesfful campaign with Salute, there were signs that they could soon start to fade. But it looks like they've come back stronger than ever. This could possibly spend weeks at #1
I really hope so! I can see it being huge/sticking around for a while! It seems to be what the general public want from them and I'm pleased to see it actually pay off for them.
It would be fantastic if this could spend longer than a week at number 1. When was the last time that happened for a girlband? Sugababes and 'About You Now' back in 2007?
I'm still interested to see how their version of Pretty Girls would have gone down!
The US radio adds date has been set for July 14th with Today Show & Teen Choice Awards performances in August! I'm not allowed to post the source as link but it's from Columbia's promo e-mail.
Fingers crossed for Little Mix in the USA, I've seen it's been lingering close to the top 200 without any airplay or promotion at all, so hopefully that's a sign it can do something when it starts to get some.
I think 'Black Magic' will be the breakout song for Little Mix in the USA.
It's hanging around incredibly well and they seem to have decent promo lined up.
This came on on my local music channel and I couldn't help but sing and bop along. I love this now
Australian
Chart Run: 55-25-11-12
Total: 19,000*
I know I'm hideously behind on this but finally saw the video over the weekend. It's really good! Very Sabrina the Teenage Witch-esque. The single's their best since DNA for me as well - can see this being a hit.
This has been C listed by Radio 1!
I'm in love with this song.
Heard this for the first time earlier - was quite disappointed, it just reminded me of Blank Space and didn't sound anywhere near nowhere the heights of the decade-defining Move.
Added to the R2 B-list. I honestly can't see this missing the top spot now.
'Black Magic' has climbed to #8 in Australia. It's their third Top 10 hit there.
http://www.ariacharts.com.au/chart/singles
YES GIRLS! Smash ittttt <3
I really wish they'd put it onto Spotify over here already though
This is genuinely a masterpiece of pop <3
Up to the A list on Radio 1! I wish they'd get this on Spotify and Apple Music!
#50 radio airplay is doing it the world of good.
Do they have any performances lined up at all?
Surprise Surprise
They're also performing on Good Morning America & Teen Choice Awards in America.
Here's their promo lined up for 'Black Magic' in July:
https://mobile.twitter.com/KeepingUpWithLM/status/616192067639730177
Oooh they're doing Sommarkrysset? *.*
Such a shit promo schedule (UK wise)!
Surprise Surprise usually provides a good boost, but it's a shame it's not the week after. They don't really need the promo though, it's going to be a rather large number 1. It's probably already done about 20k in pre-orders alone.
Hopefully they do at least one of the morning shows too, I need to see performances of this, but I guess if it looks like it's going to do well anyway, safe the limited tv opportunities for single #2 & the album.
Preview of Surprise Surprise.
So disappointing, seems so underpar in terms of energy compared to the STB performance!
Australian certifications (@ARIA_Official): @LittleMix, Black Magic Gold (35,000).
They were at Heaven last night. My security man filled me in on the details...
What "details"? :\
Sorreh.
They were really lovely and were signing autographs / taking pics until 3am.
Well, would you care to expand on these "details"?
The girls have found out that they're number 34 on pre-orders alone on iTunes!

I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!
They are seriously amazing! I really need to meet them.
Opening sales predictions? I'm thinking it'll be a strong 120k.
Some performances of 'Black Magic' and an interview or two!

Lil Miggs seems to have reported all the Cahill remixes off YouTube so here's the remix on Vimeo:

Jesy still proving to be my favourite
Slightly warming to Leigh-Anne a bit more now as well, she seems much more mature from when I can last remember. Still find the boring twosome on the otherside of the sofa dull as anything
Does anyone know if the purchase of the remix EP counts as 1 sale or 4 (1 for each track)?
Twitter - Little Mix: Mixers we are No.1 on AirPlay chart! (Meaning BlackMagic is the
Not true though. They were #9 in the last airplay chart. And are #6 in the rolling chart for this week so far.
I would hope Black Magic is going to be a big moment in their career and achieve a big number 1 for them. Everything indicates towards Black Magic becoming a big hit which i would hope will benefit the sales of their new album.
Little Mix performing on Weekend on the 19th.
Number 1 on itunes now
1. Little Mix - Black Magic 1.0000
2. Years & Years - Shine 0.6405
Massive lead already!
I will be disappointed if Black Magic sells anything sells than 110,000.
1. Little Mix - Black Magic 1.0000
2. Years & Years - Shine 0.4883
There's another version of 'Shine' at #61, but 'Black Magic' is pretty much selling twice as many copies at the moment.
I can't believe this is going to #1 over "Move". Don't get me wrong I love it... it's just "Move"... wat a hit!
Yeah. Move would always have been their best one. If only their chart runs were switched around!
Amazon Germany are selling a 4 track Cd single of Black Magic which is released on 17th July. I can't believe a physical CD single is not being released in the UK, given the popularity of this song.
They're very different tracks, going back to Move for a second. It's an incredible track but definitely as commercial and immediate for the charts as Black Magic is, so it's not surprising that this is doing better even if I wish Move could've been a #1 myself.
'Black Magic' has held up incredibly well in the United States, it's not dropped out of the top 300 on iTunes and is now #147 with no radio airplay or promotion. I think this will be their biggest US Hit and will at least manage to peak within the top 50.
I'm thinking 'Black Magic' could have similar success to 'Want U Back' by Cher Lloyd in the US. Probably bigger eventually!
I wonder if Black Magic will be close to touching 100k on Monday's midweeks. The way the chart is now means that the first midweeks will have much higher sales by combining the pre-orders with the weekend effect/streaming. (Though if Spotify data is missing this won't happen)
What a poile of absolute utter dogshet.
I confused it with a cheap-o nasty soundtrack song for a straight-to-dvd Disney channel release.
What the hell is this song about?? Does it mean ANNNYYYTHIN??
Um ... no.
And the video, they steal someone´s average lookin Twilight werewolf wannabe boyfriend? Ummm ok.
The Spice Girls coulda released this back in the 90s and it would still have been the cheesiest thing goin.
This is such a Spice Girls 90s-wannabe pastiche track.
And their cheesy expressions and cheap magic in the video!!
On the other hand, the toggles of the shoes move when they levitate, showin technology is advancin even with the small things.
Well it looks like the 'official' upload of the Cahill remix has been uploaded
The EP is now released on Spotify and iTunes.
It has the Cahill, LuvBug and Acoustic
69,000 sales on the opening midweek information, this figure is very good but i do fear it wont sell as much as i originally thought it would.
Btw this is #1 now
113,000 sales thats good tho is it not
Yep, brilliant sales, I think some of hoped for a little more after strong pre-orders, but had someone said those sales two months ago we'd all have been delighted. Hopefully it has their best chart run to date, it's getting close to #1 again on iTunes.
It is back to #1 again!!! Bye Bye 5sos
Really hoping they can pull off another week at #1!
'Black Magic' had an incredible update of +0.458 on USA Radio despite having no promotion and the add date not until next month I believe. 'Black Magic' is going to smash so hard in USA.

James Cordan is FAB promo!
I hope they schedule some promo in Australia too, Black Magic deserves to smash worldwide and it's already done well there without any promo.
Poor Move.
Yeah, I think once they have their big hit over in the US (which 'Black Magic' will hopefully provide for them!), I think they'll promote elsewhere further into the campaign.

Could someone fill me in on how 'Black Magic's US success so far compares to their previous US singles? I haven't really followed their US chart success until now but I can definitely see 'Black Magic' becoming their breakout hit in America.
There wasn't much to follow prior to Black Magic
I think Wings charted at like 97 or something, but that's it
They were on The Late Late Show with James Corden last night and delivered another sensational performance:

Perrie dealt well with the inevitable too:
I'm enjoying seeing them being so well received in the US. Really feels like a huge moment in their career.
I really cannot express just how much I love these girls both as personalities and performers. In time, I'm pretty sure they'll overtake The Spice Girls in my affections. They're already so close to doing so.

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere but Black Magic won Popjustice's £20 Music Prize this year, their second in row after Move last year (credible, acclaimed queens!) They literally are the Girls Aloud of our generation - the only other artist to have won the prize twice though they won five times (2003 - No Good Advice, 2005 - Wake Me Up, 2006 - Biology, 2008 - Call The Shots, 2009 - The Promise)
Hello! Welcome to the forum.
Yeah I think I shared that news the other day, but it might have been a different topic. Hope you stick around and share some of the fun with us here!
Completely deserved too <3
Into the top 10 of biggest selling singles by girl groups in the uk
Absolutely amazing! outsold all girls aloud singles.
Tbf Girls Aloud were releasing when single sales were an all-time low... but obviously this is great for Little Mix.
Black Magic is now the 4th single by a girlgroup with most weeks in the top 100.
1. Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha (52 weeks)
2. Sugababes - Abot You Now (40 weeks)
3. The Saturdays - Up (36 weeks)
4. Little Mix - Black Magic (32 weeks)
Slay!
As much as I love my sats, I see them being pushed down into 4th. I think BM, with the Brits performance will at least get 38 weeks top 100, could even get more than 40, depending if it gets a really big sales boost and goes back into the top 40, which it might
I had no clue Up had anywhere near that many top 100 weeks
The full list for those who are curious!

If (as seems likely) Black Magic charts in the Top 100 on Friday it will have the second longest chart run of a girl group single EVER
Is it looking like it will chart in the top 100 this week?
Sweet
I hope it can get to 41 weeks inside the Top 100 by next Friday
40 weeks done! Can it do 41?

another week is on lock !
I'm very pleased it's going to surpass the number of weeks achieved by the vastly overrated 'About You Now' inside the Top 100
Hope someone sings BM on BGT so it gets closer to 50 weeks. They're SO close to a 1 year on the chart. They deserve this
It may be optimistic but every time we think it's gonna fall it seems to rise again, so you never know
A few more chart weeks would be wonderful to add to their top 100 run. While this would be nice i find it wonderful that a girl group manage to have their biggest hit in the 3rd era of their career. Black Magic is now their biggest selling single which is amazing. By enlarge girl and boyband groups start suffering a decline in sales and smaller hits at this point of their career with many splitting after a 3rd album release. Little Mix thankfully have shown no signs of splitting and their success just continues to improve.
Their rise in popularity is so unique for an X Factor winner/act in general. All other acts seem to peak fairly early, but with our girls not only has their material been getting stronger, but their performances have improved tenfold! It helps that they're really likeable and warm/polite human beings and just seem to be revelling in all the success and taking none of it for granted.
And I don't even think BM is their peak. After it's success, I can see them getting a even bigger song and hopefully it sells even better than BM.
#119 United Kingdom (+24)
Hope it can go back to the top 100
One Year of Black Magic! It's told 840k, been nominated for 2 Brits and the girls forever owe so much to this song. It generated so much more interest and support for the girls. their later singles and the album <3
Hard to believe it's been a year since we first heard Black Magic for the first time. Amazing how much success the song has had
One year on and it's still pretty much a pop masterpiece.
Happy 1 year anniversary ;o
What a song! Seriously! I still love it just and there are no parts I skip
Could've dressed Leighanne a little more classy for a late night show, but other than that a great performance.
The studio audience is always a bit weird in that studio
Thanks Tim! Did they do Hair too?
This was the show opener, so I am assuming they'll perform Hairlater. This got uploaded 4minutes ago
I think the show only just started and usually about halfway through the guests perform after they get interviewed. (idk if they get interviewed tho)
They should be performing Hair in full, but idk since I can't watch it in Belgium
I hate this Leigh outfit too. It looks bad and unfinished, especially when you see Jade and Jesy ones.
I actually thought Leigh-Anne had the best outift!
Black Magic's video now has over 200 million views on YouTube!
First girl group MV ever to be 2x Vevo certified without the song having a feature
As well as being Perrie's birthday, Sunday will be a year since Black Magic was released
My birthday is five days after Perrie's
So there's this rumor going around on Twitter
Doesn't surprise me if it's true tbh. Seems to be the story of Little Mix's US career.
There were a few rumours going around on Twitter last night, which I shared on the Salute thread
Black Magic is no longer the best selling girl group single this decade
Well it is the 'best selling'
Yeah, Black Magic still sold a lot more copies than Work From Home, Work From Home just got streamed a lot more.
Without wanting to sound bitter, how much of that is pure sales?
'Black Magic' has pretty much doubled 'Wings' sales lol. As for 'Black Heart' I'm not sure, but I think that might have sold less.
Edit: I should read posts better before commenting. And comparing 'pure sales' in this day and age is a pretty mute point.
Black Magic sold 600K+ with no streams. Work From Home is just around 450K or something - it's yet to cross Platinum in pure sales lol.
I don't think Black Magic would have quite made 600k pure sales. More like 500 - 550k. WFH is probably on around 450k pure sales.
Video is about to become their first to hit a billion views
It’s reached 1 billion views!
Great feat. The song did really well. I can’t believe it’s 8 years since it was released.
Finally!
Happy for them.
Wish it was another song with that popularity though. Black Magic is so teen pop, and so Little Mix will always be seen as a teen pop act by the general public, even though they have songs Woman Like Me, Sweet Melody, Move, Confetti, etc.
I'm not really sure I'd consider 'Woman Like Me' a better representation of them than 'Black Magic'.
The song is an iconic classic and still beloved today, but they have many well-known songs so it's not as if they'll be exclusively regarded as a teen pop act just because one song was the first to achieve a billion views on YouTube.
