8th December 2019

It's back up for a 3rd week on top for Sigma & Jack Savoretti, a track with legs that really should be charting considering how much tosh there is in streaming charts and this one isn't. Hey ho. Harry Styles gets a second consecutive top 5 with his watermelons, and greedily has a new single lower down to boot entering at 71. Fall Out Boy make it two top 10's in a row. Highest new entry is a spruced-up even-more festive-sounding of The Fizz' recent Christmas offering which should also by now have become a modern standard, being as it's one of the best of the decade, along with the likes of Gwen Stefani. Hey ho. Ageism.

Robbie's new Xmas offering goes top 30, The Makemakes make it 2 top 40's in a row, and Pet Shop Boys replace themsleves in the 40 as Burning The Heather makes progress without setting the chart alight. I'm sure that's what they would want. FRankie Valli's Four Seasons 1975 UK hit of a Northern Soul scene oldie dating from the 60's is back 44 years on, it's selling for some reason on itunes and I dont need much of an excuse to add some more Northern Soul to my list.

Ella Henderson gets 2 featuring new entries at once, 5 years since she was ghosted, with Sigala and Jax Jones adding to their lists. Noel gallagher gets his 4th of 2019, The Weeknd is blindingly back after a gap of a year or two, Sting continues his recent "unlikely collabs" entries, this time Steve Aoki, and makes it close on 41 years of chart entries. Louise also pops back with another 2019 entry, Halsey drops by, and 2 from 1985 re-chart following itunes action - REO Speedwagon is due to Bastille's cover, but not sure why the Aids charity single is selling for Dionne & friends again, but it was very worthy then, and still is now.

Hi Steve! smile.gif

Fellow Union man by the sounds of it too! cheer.gif

I really like the Robbie single, I think it has a chance of growing on people each year if radio backs it up until streaming playlists start to feature it, but it's prob a bit late in his career to get the kudos you need for a christmas classic - there can't be many acts who've been around 25 years and then record or write a perennial xmas classic. Even the old crooners hadn't been around that long, not even Bing! ohmy.gif

Hi Jordan smile.gif

Thanks and yes thanks also for sending Scary Kisses, one I'd forgotten about - I havent reviewed/recorded my mid 90's charts yet so I can't recall how it did first-time round, so that will be interesting!

I agree about Harry Styles, 3 winners from 3 so far for me, I totally didn't expect him to come back in such a strong and different style! And yup Billie is still climbing with her newie cheer.gif

Cheers!

Yes sad George has dropped, I love it but not quite as much as I love his other chart-toppers for me heart.gif Glad you like some of the newies and surprised Dionne Warwick got a yahoo! laugh.gif I love her...! Sadly Sam is dropping now, it's a decent cover but it's not quite Donna Summer for me! biggrin.gif

Yeh that's true, that's why I was so disappointed by the lack of progress for Mabel as she's in her prime.

Robbies will do fine - fingers crossed. It'll be a no1 on my chart anyway.
