Trump, who replaced Ronnie O'Sullivan as world number one earlier this week, won 9-4 in Daqing, China.

The 29-year-old fell 3-1 behind but recovered to lead 5-3 at the end of the opening session, dropping just one more frame on his way to victory.

Mark Selby produced a dominant display to thrash David Gilbert 9-1 in the English Open final in Crawley.

England's world number five opened up a 5-0 lead before compatriot Gilbert, ranked 12th in the world, won a frame.

Selby led 7-1 after the first session and took little time in securing the two frames he needed when the match resumed at the K2 Leisure Centre.

He finished off with a 101 break to secure his 16th world ranking title and the £70,000 first prize.

Despite getting to the final, Ronnie still needs some more points to be certain of making the Coral series of tournaments. ohmy.gif

I believe he is now 20-something on the one year list. unsure.gif

I saw parts of the final, and it was very good between Judd Trump and Ronnie O'Sullivan, a high quality final.

Jack Lisowski's time will come soon. I'm sure he will win a ranking title sometime soon. enjoyed watching him this week. Strong praise from Selby to compare as the second most talented player he has seen.

To that journalist from the Guardian who wrote that article about snooker becoming an amateur sport by the end of the decade back in 2009. How very wrong you have been.
