Drake missing out of #1 due to Apple Music's unreported data no.gif

If I counted it correctly, "Watch Me (Whip / Nae Nae)" has spent as long in the top 10 as "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" did tongue.gif Surely its last week now.

Posted by: buzz_person 28th October 2015, 01:51 PM

Adele = 800k in first week sales. 35m US streams from YouTube and On-Demand (Spotify, Deezer)

Bieber = #4 with 320k first week sales and 12m streaming from YouTube and On-Demand (Spotify, Deezer) - Airplay might not be enough for higher rank.

Posted by: Cody Scareberry 28th October 2015, 04:37 PM

Pretty sure Adele can get more than 35m in streams just from YouTube alone.

I like the lack of a 'no' option in that first poll question biggrin.gif

Is that true about Drake / missing data? :/ if so. Really thought he did have #1 in the bag this week, this was almost certainly his last chance now Adele is here...

How has 'Hello' already charted on Bubbling Under? unsure.gif Did it get a few hours of airplay counted to this week's chart or something? (Can never remember what the dates are that count to each chart but I know the airplay week is different to the sales week for some reason).

It really is a shame about Drake, it would've almost certainly been #1 but there's not much that can be done about it if Apple don't report the data. And yeah, the airplay tracking week didn't end until Sunday, so "Hello"'s three days of airplay from Friday-Sunday counted for this week's chart.

Posted by: HallowPusheen 29th October 2015, 02:00 PM

Oh in that case I'm a little bit surprised 3 full days of airplay wasn't enough to get it onto the main Hot 100, considering how 'overpowered' airplay seems to be!

QUOTE
In the two days after the power ballad's debut, the accompanying clip to "Hello" was streamed, on average, more than 1 million times per hour. By the end of its first week on the platform, it had passed 100 million global views.

On the digital sales side, the track is also on course for a record performance, surpassing the 636,000-download bow of Flo Rida's 2009 hit "Right Round," as sources indicate "Hello" will sell some 900,000 its first week.

Kworb has it at 1.2M, and it has a good track record. BB tend to be on the conservative side, so 1M is almost a lock now imo.

Chart Highlights

The Weeknd's "The Hills" tops the Hot 100 for a sixth week. It drops 1-3 on Digital Songs (111,000 downloads), but it leads Radio Songs for a fifth week (149 million audience impressions) and Streaming Songs for a fourth week (19.4 million streams). The Weeknd fends off Drake, who misses out on #1 thanks to his decision to keep the "Hotline Bling" video an Apple Music exclusive. "Hotline Bling" jumps back up to #1 on Digital Songs for a second week with 153,000 downloads, and it rises 5-4 on Radio Songs with 120 million audience impressions, earning both the Digital and Airplay Gainer honors. It also spends a fourth week atop On-Demand Songs with 9.3 million streams.

Taylor Swift's "Wildest Dreams" ascends 6-5 to become Taylor's tenth top-5 hit and her fourth from 1989. It drops 3-4 on Digital Songs and keeps at #2 on Radio Songs. Below Taylor, One Direction's "Perfect" is this week's highest-debuting song as it starts at #10. It's their fifth song overall and second from Made in the A.M. to debut in the top 10; "Drag Me Down" started at #3 in August, and they previously debuted in the region with "Live While We're Young", "Best Song Ever", and "Story of My Life". With "Perfect", they become the first group to earn five top-10 debuts, passing the Beatles, who debuted in the top 10 with "Hey Jude", "Get Back", "Let It Be", and "Free as a Bird". "Perfect" debuts at #2 on Digital Songs with 136,000 downloads sold, at #18 on Streaming Songs with 6.9 million streams, and at #6 on On-Demand Songs.
Top 20: Three songs move into the top 20. Meghan Trainor earns her fourth top-20 hit as "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" jumps 24-18. It's featured artist John Legend's second hit in the region. The song remains at #10 on Digital Songs and leaps 28-17 on Radio Songs and 50-36 on Streaming Songs. Below Meghan, Ellie Goulding's "On My Mind" surges 22-19, giving Ellie her fifth top-20. The track remains at #13 on Digital Songs and rises 24-16 on Radio Songs. Finally, Alessia Cara earns her first top-20 hit with "Here", which moves 23-20. "Here" falls 16-18 on Digital Songs, but it jumps 20-15 on Radio Songs, 33-26 on Streaming Songs, and 22-16 on On-Demand Songs.
Top 40: Aside from "Perfect", three other songs enter the top 40. Demi Lovato's "Confident" blasts 58-31 with the Streaming Gainer honor. The song, which is Demi's tenth top-40 hit, debuts at #46 on Streaming Songs, while it vaults 41-15 on Digital Songs. Below Demi, Travi$ Scott earns his first top-40 with "Antidote", which jumps 41-35. The track rises 27-21 on Streaming Songs. Beneath Travis, Thomas Rhett's "Die a Happy Man" leaps 50-36 to become his third top-40. The song jumps 14-11 on Digital Songs.
