The hit BBC Two drama is returning for it's third and final series next year. Both of the leads will be returning, that's Gillian Anderson and '50 Shades of Grey' actor Jamie Dornan. Not sure how this will work now that they have found the killer, unless they go for the Broadchurch approach of having a trial so I'm glad that it will be the final series. All stories must end somewhere!

i am READY

first 2 series were incredible

I think the latter half of series 2 was as real letdown and it ended in a weird place where I felt the show didn't have much else to do. However, I'm still hyped - season one remains incredible.

Hyped for this! Glad to see it back again soon.

First episode was brilliant! Gillian Anderson's speech at the end about consent had me cheering at the TV screen. I'm really intrigued to see where this all goes considering it's pretty much confirmed Jamie Dornan won't be back for any future seasons whereas Gillian may very well be ohmy.gif

Yeh, great first episode even if it was just dealing with the aftermath of the previous episode. I'm still intrigued as to what is in store for this series, although I guess it was hinted that Paul might still possibly attack in the hospital or try to escape?? That might be a bit far-fetched though.

Jamie's performance in this episode was incredible! The ending was chilling. Him not remembering anything + a further potential 9 victims ohmy.gif

Surely his amnesia is fake? He's very clever so it would make sense from a character perspective. I would be a bit annoyed if it turns out to be real.

I've been watching this, its pretty good, I think I know where its going... actually this is the final series, as far as I know.

The scene with Stella and Rose at the end of episode 4 with Rose describing the things which Paul did to her in more detail was really chilling.

Best episode of series 3 last night. Looking forward to tonight. "An explosive ending" the tv guide says so we'll see what happens. My guess is that the ginger nut that he's befriended kills him.

What's the deal with the alcoholic chief of police. Is he going to make a drunken blunder in the finale or something?

OMG... that final episode had everything, very gripping drama. The attack in the interview room was horrific, there should have been a police officer in there to start with. And the scene in the clinic was really good, I just knew in the end he would take his own life rather than serving out a sentence. A well thought provoking series.

Gripping. It was pretty obvious that Paul would take his own life and my heart broke for Stella - she's been through so much to try and bring him to justice, and seeing her look absolutely shattered at the end was so sad.

I think we'll get a fourth season with a new villian at some point, but I really can't imagine anybody even coming close to Jamie. He brought this understated charisma to the roll of Paul and he commaned the screen every time he was on.

Great final episode.

The final episode was fantastic! I loved the interview room scenes between Paul and Stella - they were the highlight of the series. Overall it was gripping right through. I saw the ending coming, there was no way he would have gone to trial and allowed himself to get sent down. I felt so bad for Stella at the end sad.gif

I don't see the point in a fourth series. This feels like a suitable ending!

Posted by: The Grim Reaper Oct 29 2016, 02:01 PM

As far as I know the plot was to have a beginning, a middle and an end as a 3 part trilogy that was the plan for the series, when it first when to air.

Well if there is a fourth series it will be a different story. Gillian Anderson has said "never say never".

From The Fall's Wiki page -

In September 2016, Cubitt confirmed that the third series is Dornan's last, but expressed intention for future series. Cubitt added that the fourth series "isn't going to be straight away."Anderson stated: "I'm excited by the idea of potentially revisiting it in a few years, to see what transpires in Stella's life afterwards."

That finale was certainly a brilliant episode but I feel like this series as a whole has been a huge disappointment and an example of where a series has gone on longer than it should have. Aside from that final episode, nothing really of note developed, only that it continually reinforced the message that Paul Spector is an incredibly dangerous yet intelligent man. I think the full story could have been done in two series. There's a slow build and then there's five episodes of nothing happening apart from Paul faking amnesia.

I am inclined to agree with you. I power watched the first two seasons after being recommended the show by a friend, I thought it was brilliant - but like everyone else, had to wait quite a while for the 3rd Season.

This season was just... so... boring.
The actors were brilliant, but, the story was just so dull. There was so much they could have done and so many directions they could have went. It just seems they took the most boring route possible.
