BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions

Posted by: liamk97 30th October 2017, 02:41 PM

After three weeks at #2, this week may be the week Camila Cabello reaches #1 with 'Havana'. New entries to the chart may include 'Wolves' by Selena Gomez & Marshmello and 'I Miss You' by Clean Bandit & Julia Michaels, whilst Stormzy's 'Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 2' may enter the Top 40 for the first time following his performance on The X Factor over the weekend. Boosts may also be in store for Charlie Puth's 'How Long' following Sounds Like Friday Night and Taylor Swift's '...Ready For It?' following the video release.

In the albums, Michael Ball & Alfie Boe's Together Again, Gregory Porter's Nat King Cole & Me and Stereophonics' Scream Above the Sounds are all competing for the #1 spot. Kelly Clarkson's Meaning of Life should also enter the chart this week whilst boosts should be in store for Stormzy's Gang Signs & Prayer and Steps' Tears On the Dancefloor - the latter following the release of the Crying At the Disco edition and their performance on Strictly.

I think the Phonics will be number 1 in the midweeks, but Ball and Boe will pip them to the top after last nights TV special.

It will be interesting to see how Kelly Clarkson is getting on. With no hit single, I do worry for her this time around.

Posted by: Lomadz 30th October 2017, 02:58 PM

Camila no1 by about 4 thousand copies according to popjustice, took it's time! Rita next please!

Posted by: Knightr634 30th October 2017, 03:03 PM

Steps should hopefully get their album to Gold status this week. Hopefully they can stay top 10. They have This Morning on Wednesday performing Dancing With A Broken Heart too.

Hoping Kelly Clarkson can stay top 10 too. This feels like the first proper competitive album chart week for a while.

Yeah same here. Think they'll overtake later in the week as they're ahead of Stereophonics on Amazon now after last night's TV special.

Posted by: 28 Brays Later 30th October 2017, 03:45 PM

Hoping Camila does get the #1 this week, I like 'rockstar' more than 'Havana' but it had its time at #1 already, both songs are much better than the vast majority of other #1 hits in the past few years.

Posted by: HobDoblin 30th October 2017, 03:49 PM

Blinded By Your Grace top 20 plz.

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2017, 03:51 PM

It is a good start for Steps with the re-release, Top 5 would be excellent but a top 10 return for the album would be a great achievement.Considering, it has started string and with promotion lined up they secure the top 10 position.

I am simply enjoying the return from Steps and it is a joy to see them back in the charts this year.

Really hoping to see Camila take the number 1 in the singles this week.

Posted by: timjimlee 30th October 2017, 03:53 PM

Stereophonics all the way for me ! It will be great to see them get their seventh #1 Album (and equal Coldplay).
They haven't had a TV special but they have been putting in a few TV appearances (eg The One Show and Jools Holland).

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2017, 05:15 PM

Stereophonics have remained solid album sellers and in large deliver strong studio sets.

I can't see it recovering either, such a disappointing song.

Posted by: liamk97 30th October 2017, 05:44 PM

Perhaps Stereophonics will be #1 after all! Should be in the similar ~45k region as their last two albums opened with.

Posted by: M4NG0 30th October 2017, 05:44 PM

Ouch for Clean Bandit, not the best start for them!

Great to see that 'How Long' is potentially going to outpeak 'Attention' so quickly biggrin.gif

Shocked to see Morrissey Top 40 in the singles, obviously he'll fall way short, but really wasn't expecting him to be anywhere near that high in 2017! Anyone know where 'Spent The Day In Bed' appeared in Monday's mids?

It's a Halloween themed album, so natural for it to be on the ascent this week! Also it's been advertised a lot on TV.

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2017, 05:51 PM

It would be great if Steps, Kelly Clarkson and Niall Horan can maintain (at the minimum) their existing album positions. Steps, looks the most secure of the 3 mentioned.

I think Michael Ball and Alfie Boe will get the top spot on Friday. Their album sales should continue to grow very strongly during the week - perhaps heading towards 70k to 80k by Friday?

He is indeed, and as a child he appears on the front of the most famous Ian Dury album, New Boots And Panties!!

He's been releasing solo albums for about 15 years though and was even on a major label for a while, I'm not entirely sure why he's suddenly found an audience now.

Posted by: TheBattenburglar 30th October 2017, 07:38 PM

Morrissey top 40 in the singles chart is a surprise. I'm presuming as a result of a vinyl single release, and its frontloaded nature means it'll likely drop out by Friday.

Posted by: Supercell 30th October 2017, 08:13 PM

Glad to see Camila looking to hopefully knock that absolute tripe that is rockstar off no.1, never though it was going to do this well the first time I heard it. Not sure if it will manage to stay ahead so think it could be a close one. Rockstar is still ahead on streaming.

Really starting to like Marshmallow, hope it stays top 3 and is able to eventually creep to no.1 at some stage.

Posted by: Lomadz 30th October 2017, 08:20 PM

If anything Camila is going to extend her lead tbh, she is closing on Spotify and miles ahead on iTunes.....it's hers without any doubt. If it carries on as it is with iTunes and Spotify then Camila should finish between 8-10 k ahead!!!

Posted by: Envoirment 30th October 2017, 08:22 PM

A bittersweet first midweek. Great to see Camilla #1 and P!nk holding on well in the album chart. Steps coming for that gold certification as well *_*

Sad to see Kelly at #9 as she's likely going to fall out of the top 10 by the end of the week. It'll be her first studio album to miss the top 10 since her Debut (exlcuding her Christmas album).

Also sad to see Niall dropping to #10, but I feel he may climb a little as Kelly may fall behind and Steps might too.

Posted by: Rafael x 30th October 2017, 09:30 PM

So Niall is at #10, might sell like 8k? Hope he can finish at #8 or #9.

Posted by: timjimlee 30th October 2017, 09:49 PM

A couple of observations: Ed Sheeran will finally finish outside Top 5 this week, George Michael and Pink Albums are still selling well (as well as the Top 3 new entries) and will probably keep Divide at #6.
Morrissey's lead Single is a return to form with echoes of some of his earlier solo material, the performance on The Graham Norton Show will have done it no harm. His new Album is doing very well on Pre-order as well.

Great album sales at last as the MOR Christmas releases enter the running in the shape of Boe/Ball & Porter plus a decent opener for the Phonics - hope they get a week at the top before the others establish themselves there until xmas. Top 5 should all break 20k and the no1 should be on 45-50k!

Good to see Havana looking like being a no1 single, it's a good pop song!

The album chart, is so much more exciting, Stereophonics should hold number 1,a 5k lead should be enough at this stage of the week.

Presumably Stereophonics are going to have a slight boost from missing streaming data whereas Michael/Alfie will have next to none, but it's still all to play for.

I think Ball and Boe will probably get no.1 now which is a shame because the Stereophonics album is so good. They could hold on, I guess, but they’ve only shifted 5k in the past two days. Pretty impressive sales though, and nice that Pink is looking for respectable third week sales.

The album chart, is so much more exciting, Stereophonics should hold number 1,a 5k lead should be enough at this stage of the week.

It should be but since Monday's update they have gained 6.1k on the Stereophonics so if they keep the same momentum they will do it.

Interesting, Tuesday is usually the lowest Sales day of the week for Albums but it is looking close on this basis.
I notice they have lowered the price of the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the Ball & Boe Album on Amazon, must be a bit galling for the fans that pre-ordered the Album, hate it when they do that in the week of Release.

Numbers 2-4 all outsold Stereophonics over the last two days! Boe and Ball may get it comfortably. Surprised Kelly is still top 10. Doubt it will still be top 40 this time next week

Pity for the Phonics, this is there only real chance at no1 this week whereas the others can climb through the next 7 weeks!

Posted by: SKOB 1st November 2017, 06:35 PM

Sadly Boe and Ball will probably get their #1 spot later, if not this week.

Posted by: Lenny 1st November 2017, 07:39 PM

Fingers crossed Stereophonics hold on and Post Malone is knocked off of the top spot.

Kelly to hold onto top 10 please

Posted by: Rafael x 1st November 2017, 09:31 PM

Niall still #10? Any chance to stay there?

How'd Rita go from 6-11 with Anywhere if no data is missing, I thought she was gaining?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd November 2017, 02:01 AM

Ball and Boe will probably hit number 1 at some point between now and Christmas, they last album sold well through out the whole Christmas period. I really want the Stereophonics to hold on for this week.

Steps are holding up well since the last update so i think they are safe for top 10.

Data probably was missing on Monday's update, a day or two of streaming I expect.

Why is that surprising?

Because his streaming is huge compared to hers

Not really, the gap isn't that big and she's been seeking a lot more than him. Sounds about right to me.

today supestar was on 491k on spotify vs. 403K for havana, that's maybe a 500 copies difference, not a huge huge advantage anymore

while on itunes havana is on 1.00 and superstar is on 0.38, assuming an average of 2k per day for #1 on itunes, thats at least 1200 copies ahead

so do the math smile.gif

is it really that hard to comprehend that iTunes also exists and she's got a massive lead on him on iTunes
