Hype! I've been listening to Malibu quite a lot recently - I definitely don't think I paid it enough attention at the time but it's actually such a sweet song! Fits in well amongst her back catalogue. The less said about the rest of the Younger Now album though

Cattitude isn't awful or anything but it does feel like a step back to Bangerz, it feels like a Ru song which isn't where someone who could be one of the big pop girls should be going

I quite like the release strategy for this — surprised more artists haven't done it. A single with each EP is fairly ingenious in the streaming era, especially when they'll eventually add to an album. Robyn the icon.

Absolutely adore all of this, love how varied it is.
No idea how I’d rank them as they’re all so different to each other.

Cattitude is ridiculously catchy, the Elon Musk lyric gets me every time :’)
I’m glad they’re pushing Mother’s Daughter though, it’s definitely the one with the most hit potential, glad it’s doing well for her. Bangerz is one of my favourite pop albums, glad she’s bringing the fun factor back with this release. I’ll forever regret not going to the Bangerz tour and seeing her arrive on the giant tongue 😭

Can’t wait to see where she goes with the other two EPs.

Yeah it took me a few listens too, some of it passed me by at first.
Party Up the Street and The Most were my least favourites at first but love them both now. Love how chilled PUTS is and The Most is just the sweetest 😭

I think had she pushed 'Mother's Daughter' with a music video, rather than with a EP and given it a proper Spotify push, it could've been a bigger hit!

I think she could've also released it after she actually pushed 'On A Roll' to then lead in to her actual music. I kind of feel like she doesn't give a shit about commercial success though so fair play to her!

Incredible video.

I would have preferred she released an album and pushed singles rather than releasing an EP. If she bothered with this, it honestly could have been a cute top five hit in both the UK and America. I’m hoping it manages a new peak in the UK but Spotify hasn’t been too nice to her.

The 'Mother's Daughter' video is fantastic! I feel like the song is just on the verge of clicking with me.

I saw the performances BBC Music uploaded to YouTube from her Glastonbury set and I just had to watch the full thing. f***, she's an incredible performer, I never knew! 'Party in the USA' goes OFF and Miley seemed to have a lot of fun with it; 'Wrecking Ball' was a hell of a closer; the 'Back to Black' snippet was a lovely surprise. I can't get over how fierce she looked.

I find that quite cynical and a bit nasty, I doubt the break up with Liam or her stories of dealing with drugs are fabricated at all. She is just releasing a song that might be personal to her, it's no different to when Kesha released 'Praying' which was rumoured to be about Dr Luke - she's just singing about something personal to her.

I just don’t think it’s been handled properly if I’m being honest, the singles haven’t been sent to radios. No music videos and Miley herself seems very quiet considering she’s just released a new single but it’s done well on iTunes and it’s increase following one live performance is sensational. “Angel” will be a huge number one worldwide but it would be good if this could manage to go top 10.

That was a great performance. But I find her voice is a bit too marmite for the general public a lot of times, which is why I think nobody really talks about her as a vocalist/sees her as one. Although saying that it's no different/is a lot easier on the ears than say James Arthur or Lewis Capaldi for example so I dunno.

Miley did say Mothers Daughter was only meant to be a Buzz single & I think slideaway was only released cos of the circumstances between her & Liam and getting her side of the storey told.
There was a article that the official 1st single would be released at the time of the 2nd EP, or when She is everything arrives. But then she has turned out 2 Music videos now so who knows.

I hope Bad Karma is a single its sounds really catchy

This is still on zero weeks of decline and it’s streaming is improving on Spotify too, so can see this avoiding ACR for a couple more weeks at least!

My favourites are 'WTF Do I Know' which is fantastic, what an album opener! I'm also loving 'Gimme What I Want' and 'Golden G-String' was a really pleasant suprise. I like 'Angel Like You', 'Night Crawling' and 'Hate Me' too. I didn't really dislike any track and I can see a lot of the other tracks growing on me.

Yeh it's #1 on NMF in Australia so I'm guessing it should be top 5 almost everywhere else and hopefully added to TTH to help the album streams.

Prisoner is projected to debut at #41 on the Billboard this week and fall to #114 next week, I actually can't at the US continue failing her. I actually have no clue on her opening sales, I'm predicting around 60,000 which probably mean a top five debut which wouldn't be the best result but only so much she can do with her team being horrendous.

#1 on Australia and New Zealand iTunes too.

This album is so cohesive and all round incredibly strong, I was expecting myself to not like it as much as I have but the album has so may different to layers it and her vocals are insane.

I’m 100% okay with Angels Like You being pushed as the next single, ideally it would have been released over the Christmas period but the song is stunning! High is also absolutely stunning too, I believe that’s the Mark Ronson track too isn’t it? I’ve not felt this way upon first listening to an album in quite a while

"Angels Like You" is the focus track of the album. As it was mentioned before, it was added to a bunch of New Music Friday playlists, including the US, being atop there. It's also #18 on Today's Top Hits (the equivalent of Hot Hits UK in the US), so I can see this one to be pushed as the next single.

07 High - the first new song here (as the rest have been out since June and not much difference). It's a nice enough song, will probs need to spend more time with it.
07 Hate Me - it's a nice enough album track... I'd probs have put 'Win Some Lose Some' on instead but the sentiment is there.
09 Bad Karma - this song is great. Joan Jett doesn't really add to much to it and the original version as Miley is better..
09 Never Be Me - A fantastic track... certainly a highlight... it almost has a 'Dead Petz' vibe to it, but also feels a little nod to 'Goodbye' from 'Breakout' with the narrative structure.
11 Golden G String - Miley at her best.
10 Edge Of Midnight - A genius mash-up... a bit clunky but nonetheless, great.
08 Heart of Glass - A great cover...
08 Zombie - Again, a great cover...

In general it's probably Miley's best album (besides 'Dead Petz'). You can see it being a mixture of a lot of her other works together... I read a fantastic comparison to 'Younger Now' where it kinda picks off where that left of as the angrier cousin... I can also see comparisons to 'Can't Be Tamed' stylistically and the ballad side of things... I can also see parallels of it with her much earlier stuff like the 'Breakout' era. It's interesting to see where it sits with the change in eras (as to where it fits with the 'She Is Miley Cyrus' initial album) as a lot of this stuff content is over a year-2 years old.

Love the album, consistency goals!! It's so cohesive but it doesn't lose those highs either, and it's cohesive rather than being samey. There's a few songs I could see as singles but Angels Like You really sticks out to me.

Yeh I would be delighted with a top three debut but can probably see it debuting at around #5 which is still a good result, I can see it having a good chart run though and actually selling well over Christmas and possibly getting a new peak next year, although known Miley’s team I doubt they have anything planned like that.

I expected a bigger streaming push with prisoner, I thought it would go top five this week but not so sure now as it began dropping down a bit on Spotify! I’m excited to see Midnight Sky’s positions though especially if edge of seventeen gets a good amount of streams too *.*

It's so nice to see an artist like Miley who sort of floundered from sound to sound to FINALLY locate a sound that works perfectly for her. She's actually the only person I know who got vocal chord surgery who sounds BETTER after it. Combining pop / county-rock / her voice and delivery makes this album absolute fire. There's a few duds, Golden G String and High are.. not her best. But overall the highs on this album are some of my favourites from Miley. Angels Like You is... incredible.

I found that the album lost a bit of momentum after Midnight Sky, tracks 8 - 13 were a bit of a slog as the high energy was in the first 7, but songs like Bad Karma and Hate Me are so strong you almost don't click onto the energy dip. I was also slightly disappointed there wasn't more glamrock numbers like Midnight Sky.

Perhaps. BB Talk has 8.8 million streams on Spotify (and it's the most streamed track) so there are not really any Miley classics on the album despite the overall quality.

Does Night Crawling sample Paint It Black? They sound quite similar.

I love how the music of the 70’s / 80’s has come back in a big way this year it’s like the current trend with major pop artists this year making retro sounding records but with a current twist.

This is a really good album! It’s been very instant with me. I did love the EP and Slide Away but I don’t think anything from 2019 would’ve fitted onto this album without sounding out of place. This album has such a theme and it’s really cohesive too. I hope we get a long campaign

Commercial success aside, it's very nice to see getting such critical recognition for this album. It's so unbelievably good. It's definitely in my top 5 of the year.

Hate Me, Gimme What I Want and Angels Like You are my top tracks whilst Midnight Sky is the better single of the two.

This is REALLY good! Her second good album for me along with Can't Be Tamed.

It dips a bit at 'High' and 'Hate Me', but overall the quality is high and very very consistent. It seems like she's in a really good space creatively right now.

"The songwriting here is just not very good. And even when the referential tracks are fairly decent, they only would have been minor entries of their era. Shades of Madonna and Avril can’t disguise that there’s no distinguished personality here.

I think Miley has really found her best sound this era - 'Midnight Sky' took me a while to get into but I instantly really liked 'Prisoner' (and it's only grown on me more since then, quite possibly my favourite song she's ever done! it's such an earworm and Miley & Dua have great chemistry on it) and have just heard 'Angels Like You' which has impressed me quite a bit as well!

Of course she has a habit of radically changing her sound from era to era though so I am sure she'll be dropping the whole rock thing and making a jazz album next or something lmao x

I can't get enough of the top 3, Hate Me is such a smash from the first second to the last, clearly proving to be an underrated one amongst fans too but the next two songs up there are rightfully getting the praise they deserve. Yeah it would be a waste to just give up on Prisoner especially since it's a collab with Queen of 2020 Dua. That said, it isn't one of my faves on the album - I would rate Plastic Hearts, Midnight Sky, Gimme What I Want, Night Crawling, Bad Karma and WTF Do I Know above it. Maybe even Never Be Me. The best part of Prisoner is the "I tasted heaven now I can't live without it / I can't forget you and your love is the loudest" bit.

I honestly think this could be her biggest album yet in the UK - I'm expecting it to have great legs given all the radio airplay she's been getting ("Prisoner #1 and "Midnight Sky" #21 in the airplay chart currently - although Midnight Sky will rise a lot in the new year again as there are 15 Xmas songs ahead). Once Christmas is over, both "Prisoner" and "Midnight Sky" will likely skyrocket back up the chart - I expect "Prisoner" to reach a new peak! Although I believe "Midnight Sky" is going on ACR? I'm wondering if it'll go back on SCR due to it increasing in streams once again though - especially with all the Christmas songs fading away fast.

I hope they do a promo blitz in the UK for the 3rd single.

I feel like Prisoner will go top five next week too, it really needs a big push on streaming and higher up on playlists.

It'a shame Midnight Sky is going into ACR but it should be able to increase enough to go on SCR especially as it's had rather low streams, i predict it to remain top 40 next week but probably climb close to top 10 the following week.

I do feel like 'Plastic Hearts' is gonna be pushed in February and - it's ashame that there is going to be no big shows as she's already done Norton.

This is up there with Future Nostalgia and After Hours as one of my favourite albums of 2020. I'm even warming to Angels Like You which I considered a bit of a dud at first. The run from WTF Do I Know to Midnight Sky is just incredible - even if I still don't love ALY as much as the others. High and Hate Me are definitely the Good In Bed and Boys Will Be Boys of the album though. Not bad but the lowest rank.

I hope Miley bags some Grammys in 2022.

It's getting quite common for the vinyl to be released a lot later than the digital / CD versions now. The trouble is there's only a handful of places that can produce vinyl and no way of increasing production rates to keep up with increased demand at the moment.

Angels Like You could definitely get her a solid top 15 hit if RCA played their cards right. It was a favourite from the album upon release and it's mix of folk-country-soft rock is what a lot of the older GP like, she could at least get a nice AC hit.

Glad to see the album rising again this week - another week top 20!

Happy to see "Plastic Hearts" charting in the top 100 too. I hope it manages to stick around. Even if it doesn't become a single, I wouldn't be surprised if it manages a silver certification at some point in the future.

I'm hoping they'll release a vinyl for the album around the time of the BRITS and she gets a performance slot. I love the album so much I hope they release 1-2 more singles (ALY & PH) and continue promoting it through to summer. A deluxe/re-release of the album in Q4 of this year would be great too with a high profile collab perhaps?

Her radio support in the United States is honestly so confusing. Midnight Sky peaked at #49 on Radio and Prisoner right now seems to be struggling to even go near the top 70! She should really be getting more support from radio's, I honestly think Midnight Sky would have been a huge top five hit had she been with any other label in the USA.

'Night Crawling' is my favourite track on the album but I think 'Angels Like You' and 'Plastic Hearts' should be the next two singles.

I could see ALY being somewhat of a hit, if handled correctly. Whereas PH would be a nice fourth and final single for fans and longevity for the album. Other than that I don't see any other tracks working as singles if I'm honest.

"Prisoner" rises 3 places to #17 this week. Hopefully it'll get a boost this week with the re-release of Dua's album which includes it. "Midnight Sky" a non-mover at
#48.

The album is down 4 places to #36 - still top 40! Another ~2k or so sold again. It should be silver in a few weeks.

I hope they start pushing "Angels Like You" soon. I wonder if they'll surprise release a video for it on valentine's day or something?

Album out of the top 40 this week sadly, down to #45. Pretty stable sales-wise as it should've done another ~2k this week. Similar to the last few weeks. They need to hurry up and push "Angels Like You" so the album can start rising again!

"Prisoner" down 1 to #18 - its 9th week top 20! I hope it can manage 10 weeks top 20 at least.

It seems to be doing ok so far. Rising on iTunes as airplay increases and it's reappeared in the top 1500 on Apple Music. It's being pushed to Australian radio too, so I hope that means it'll get a proper push. Playlist support on streaming services is the main thing.

Miley has signed a business deal with NBC Universal. The deal includes the production of new TV shows & movies. Appearances in NBC shows (SNL, Fallon, The Voice, etc.) and in three specials across the company's TV and streaming portfolio.

She’s also got a concert coming out on peakcock which is America’s biggest streaming platform

Things look really good for Miley's next era!

Also, "Midnight Sky" is still hanging on. Up to #90 in this week's chart and 39 weeks in the top 100 now. Just when I think it's going to fall out, it rises. I hope it can manage 52 weeks in the top 100 at some point. Although given it's been hanging around the 80s/90s the last few weeks I fear it's not long until it finally drops out.
