It's the stuff of our Saturday morning TV dreams – it looks like SM:TV Live will actually be returning!

And it's not even just a 'maybe' anymore either as Ant and Dec and fellow SM:TV host Cat Deeley were all reunited on screen on tonight's (April 8) episode of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, and they practically confirmed that something will be happening.

That's right, the trio have promised they will reunite to celebrate the show's 20th anniversary next year. Yep, 20 years.

We officially feel old.

For those of you who may be too young to remember the glory days of Saturday morning telly, the trio presented a hilarious show which featured sketches, competitions and celebrity guests a plenty.

And a lot of what made the series so great made a welcome return in tonight's final instalment of the 'Missing Crown Jewels' too.

There was Wonkey Donkey - which HAD TO RHYME - and is practically the best competition ever to come out of telly. Maybe.

Not only that, but definitely the best sketch ever to come out of the show was Chums - a take on Friends - which featured a long-standing love story between Dec and Cat and we loved it.

They usually dragged the celebrity guests in to take part in the sketch as well, so it was always good fun - check it out below if you don't believe us:

Naturally, viewers of a certain age were delighted at the news:

It's not the first time it's been mentioned either, as earlier this year Ant and Dec kickstarted the rumours of an SM:TV return by expressing an interest in bringing it back.

"It's funny, we were talking to somebody about this recently, because it's 20 years since the launch of SM:TV Live next year," Ant previously said.

"So we were saying if there was appetite that we could do an anniversary special or something, and we kind of got carried away with the idea, didn't we?

"If we did just a one-off, and it had to be 9.25am, with Chums and all that, and get Cat back."

And seeing as Cat later added her support for the idea too, it looks like an SM:TV reunion is officially happening now.

We. Can't. Wait.
SM:tv Live (complete with CD:uk ofc!) was literally MY LIFE. OMFG. THIS NEWS HAS ME SO EXCITED FOR THE ONE OFF SPECIAL EDITION! cry.gif

I was 11/12 when it was first on and absolutely LOVED it. The sketches were brilliant, especially Chums, and I loved that the celebrities took part in it.

One of my favourite sketches was 'the beautiful Corrs' but I doubt they are relevant enough now to be brought back to this special one-off edition!

Also loved a lot of the other programmes shown during the show, like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Irish Popstars, with Linda Martin and Louis Walsh *.*

And I wouldn't ever go out to town with my friends until CD:UK had finished, had to see that chart rundown!

Delayed until 2019 now due to Ant & Dec's schedules nocheer.gif

That kind of makes the 20th anniversary reunion a bit pointless nocheer.gif

Posted by: Mack. 17th March 2018, 10:04 PM

What's the point in bringing it back then?

Posted by: kye 20th March 2018, 01:03 PM

because 21 is still a big year?

Don’t think it had anything to do with Ant and Dec’s schedule.

FINALLY

It's a documentary now rather than a special episode of the show, but I can't wait!

Can't stand Ant & Dec anymore, but loved SMTV so will watch wub.gif

Also still annoys me how Ant is back to being one of the nations favourite after what he did, anyone else would never have been forgiven so easily.
