ABBA GOLD: SURVIVOR

I’ve taken it upon myself to launch my own survivor poll type thing, this one is for one of the biggest selling album of all times and also (sort of) coincides with the buzz around Mamma Mia again. The rules are simple please vote for YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE and every couple of days I will eliminate the song with the most votes until we have a winner.

I concur, hopefully this will have an unexpected winner, I went for I Have A Dream this round because it’s one of the few I skip when listening through.

the ultimate survivor! ohmy.gif

went for 'I Have A Dream' as it's the only song of theirs that verges on 'too cheesy' for me (which is pretty hard to come by in my books).

Hoping for the 11/10 top three of Gimme/Voulez/Winner heart.gif

THEY'RE ALL GOOD

I Have A Dream is slightly below par so that one first.

does your mother know/one of us to survive as long as possible, I hope something can topple a few of the big hitters early on to make it more exciting

will go for The Name Of The Game as I don't recall that at all so it can't be all that good. would also be happy with I Have A Dream and Does Your Mother Know leaving.

Likely to go back in the top 10 this year cos of the Mamma Mia film too.

Voulez-Vous is a bit below the others, as is Lay All Your Love on Me but I sense I'll be alone in that for a while.

Fab idea! A sort of Balloon Game (usually it's in pairs and one gets chucked out) smile.gif

Voted any second...

Went for Does Your Mother Know - had I know the standing results I would have gone for one likely to go out instead of the classy, under-rated genius that Is Name Of The Game - it MUST be in Mamma Mia 2. So Good the Fugees nicked it...

Voted for The Name of the Game. Really hope "I Have a Dream" doesn't go out - I went into a recording studio when I was 10 and recorded a version of that song, and still have a copy of it that I shall not be sharing.

Not a huge fan but they made consistently good pop songs so there wasn't one on that list I really disliked. I went for Super Trouper as the chorus is irritating.

These are literally their 2 best songs, are you ok? x

Not really a fan of ABBA, there are only a couple of songs from them that are more than just tolerable for me. I'll vote in this while I'm here but I'm going for what will be an even more unpopular opinion, 'Dancing Queen'. Oops.

To their credit, I do feel like I know every single song on this list reasonably well which is good going for a band I have never really voluntarily listened to ('Lay All Your Love On Me' aside).

Well, The Name Of The Game was recorded for the original Mamma Mia movie with Amanda Seyfried singing it but it got cut, so i’d imagine it might be in the sequel.

I'm not usually a huge fan of their genre, but they were masters of making perfect pop songs, I like almost everything here.

Don't worry, I'm probably going to be gunning for Dancing Queen shortly. It's not the best on here by any stretch and the overplay worsens that.
