How to Be Lonely has underperformed, I think that's pretty clear, so where does Rita go after this?
I don't think she'll struggle to get support again, radio have always been really generous to her, and Spotify surely won't ignore her forever? However, I really do think she needs an undeniable smash next to stop a slip-slide out of relevance. Look at what made Phoenix so successful! |

How To Be Lonely deserved better
Great song and incredible video! I think she needs to release something a bit more upbeat though. An undeniable smash We got Let Me Love You after Girls underperformed so I definitely think she has it in her to get another big hit. Streaming support too. I would also possibly suggest her having a featured artist on the track perhaps? But that’s more from a successful point of view from a personal one id rather her get some more solo hits. |

I think she can easily release the right single in a few months and get another hit.
I think it's fair to say 'How To Be Lonely' was a total mistake, and I hope it hasn't undone everything she built up with the last era. |

She needs to find her sound and develop it. She really shines on big electropop tracks like Anywhere, I Will Never Let You Down and Let You Love Me. Imagine if she made a cohesive album full of those type of tracks.

IDK why HTBL bobmed, I love it.. but yeah she needs to work on new smash.. maybe a collab with somebody would work better for her now.

I can see a Clean Bandit x Rita Ora collab coming - I'm actually shocked they haven't worked together yet.
As for solo material, I don't know what everyone one here saw in HTBL. I found it pretty forgettable. She really hit the mark with Anywhere so some more mature, upbeat pop would be the best route for her. |

She needs a stronger second single. Just forget how to be lonely and move on.

Lonely Together and Anywhere have proven dance-pop is where Rita should station herself.

'How to Be Lonely' sounds like an inferior mix of several songs she's released before. No progression at all. I don't expect anything more than fun, catchy pop records from Rita but she needs something not void of its own identity.
She proved with her last album that she can record hit after hit and it's not like someone as in the forefront of celebrity interest as her should be short of being able to collaborate with good producers. |

I know the song didn't receive Spotify support, but it still should've done better. It got Apple Music support, AVA MAX is in the same boat as this with 'Kings & Queens' (Apple Music/no Spotify) with less radio and that's doing better which says a lot about this song. It's very subjective obvs but tbh, I just don't think the song is good enough.

I'd love to know what the discussions are atm within Rita's team. I do think she can do a full 180 though.

What if this is her “flop era” or period and the next few things she puts out also don’t amount to much success.

It's a bit worrying tbh if she's surrounded by people who thought HTBL was the way to go for lead single. It all depends on the quality of her next single. What are the odds it will be a collab?

Her team need to make amends with Spotify before they do anything else.
