Unelected and directly working with the wishes of the House to find a way out of the impasse rather than being unelected and squatting in number 10, never winning a single vote in Parliament, until such time has come as there is no more time.

I don't understand why Corbyn caved, like, at all?? I'm guessing favourable insider polling but w/e. Should have pushed for votes for 16 y/old and above.

I’m super pro franchise extension, but doing it in an afternoon for an election in 6 weeks time is dicey as f***. That’s not enough time to do anything with the electoral roll outside of Scotland where the franchise was already extended to include EU nationals and 16/17 year olds in non-Westminster controlled votes.
We risk creating a massive voting scandal with people not being properly registered |

With individual online registration it should be possible to get 16- and 17-year-olds registered in time. The biggest problem would be people who turn 16 just before polling day and have not yet been issued their NI card as they won't be able to enter their NI number. That is probably a good reason not to do it for this election.
As a matter of interest, did the inclusion of 16- and 17-year-olds in Scotland lead to NI cards being sent out earlier to avoid this issue? |

You don’t need an NI number to register if you don’t yet have one. You can go on the electoral roll from 14 years old up here because of the expanded franchise. The laws were passed in 2015 and used at Holyrood at 2016 election and it seems to have gone alright so far. Not sure what other requirements are in place though. |

Sounds like we'll have an election.
Boris Johnson's December 12 election plan has cleared its first hurdle as MPs backed it without a formal vote. They will continue to debate and vote later on amendments, including a Labour proposal to change the date to 9 December. The prime minister can only hold an election with the support of MPs - who have blocked it three times. A lot of what they’re saying about insufficient time to push this bill through for a 9th of Dec election is equally as funny given the timetable for the WAB |

I just really don't understand this move at all. It gives Bojo two massive victories, brexshit general election plus when students are moving for hols AND CAN'T VOTE!!! They didn't even push for votes for 16 and 17 y/os. Makes no sense at all.
