I, for one, am very happy with everything I've heard so far. For me, Wonderland was their worst era, by far, music wise.

Promotion continues to be their main issue. I don't understand why they decided to release OOUH without a video and big promo lined up for this week. They don't seem to be learning anything from past experiences.

Gary's release of his book was much better handled, in my opinion.

Agree totally Milly. They want success though no longer promote or sync campaigns like they did up to Progress era.

The promo on the last few releases has been really cut back and sales have suffered so im hoping they will do more this time round. With how the single is been handled i wont hold out much hope though.

I can see OOOH being used in the Christmas ad and that will at least help it along it this is the case.

'Out of Our Heads' climbs from #58 to #34 in the "Official Singles Downloads Chart Top 100", and is up from #59 to #35 in the "Official Singles Sales Chart Top 100". Approximately 1,470 downloads have been sold this week.

Gary has talked about TT forming in 1989 in several interviews and in My Take. There's no doubt about that.

This contradicts with so much info presented to us over the years from official sources (i.e. everything I wrote in my previous post).

More reasons in support of 1990: Howard Donald was said to have been 22 years old when he auditioned (he turned 22 on 28 April 1990), while Robbie was said to have been 16 when they formed (16th birthday = 13 February 1990). It's certainly never been said at any point in time that Robbie joined at the age of just 15.

So everything - bar what Gary has apparently recently said - points to 1990. So there is certainly some doubt. I suspect that Take That/the label is partaking in some revisionism of their own history in order to support a 30th anniversary celebration tour occurring in 2019.

They didn’t chart in the official top 100? I’m not that surprised, the response to the song on the forums I frequent has been pretty lukewarm.

Unfortunately not - I think it would have been quite far adrift from making it tbh. I'm estimating 1,700 streaming units this week (based on early midweek data), therefore approx 3,200 sales overall including downloads. The song at #100 this week sold 5,424! Note: As of July 2017, the singles chart Top 200 was scrapped, therefore missing the Top 100 = no official chart position.

'Out of Our Heads' will need greater prominence in Spotify playlists to have a realistic chance of cracking the singles chart. I'm not sure what the chances of that is really, given that streaming platforms tend to favour more recently successful / younger artists.

I've just noticed that the single has left the iTunes Top 100 (it's currently #107). If they do have some strong promotion lined up, then they shouldn't have any trouble with re-entering the iTunes chart. Honestly though, I think it would need to be revived to the extent of going Top 10 on iTunes and then at least remaining within the Top 20 all week, to have a chance of an official Top 100 position. Download sales are quite low. sad.gif

I think it's safe to say that this era's chart success will be all about the albums chart. Looking at their competition, I'll be surprised if TT don't manage #1 (I probably shouldn't jinx it though, lol!). Little Mix, Mumford and Sons & Michael Buble are released a week earlier and while they should all achieve strong sales, I'd be surprised if their respective second week sales end up being stronger than Take That's first week. Take That are going up against Alfie Boe, Cliff Richard, Kanye West & Rita Ora in release week, but I think they should be able to outsell all of them?

It’s a shame that the single didn’t chart, but then when you consider they released it on a Thursday and did no promo or physical options, it wasn’t a surprise.

Robbie had a similar struggle with his first single from HES

It will be wonderful to see them perform together again and it could potentially be a new version of The Flood or they may just perform the original version which was epic when they last performed it on the X Factor.

I'm annoyed that they are doing the XF final with Robbie - that will only benefit Robbie and nobody else. Why aren't they promoting and performing OOUH, since they've already released it as a single? They can perform with Robbie on the tour or on other gigs, but, for GH promotion purposes, they should be focusing on their task at hand. What's the point of releasing a new song if they're chasing other rabbits?!
I'm really pissed at them for being all over the place.

I believe by having Robbie on X Factor for example with them will bring further awareness to the album.
Maybe i am wrong but i cant see it doing any damage.
That said, it by large appears to rule out them performing the new single and them feels a very wasted opportunity.
They appear to be at a stage in their career where they don't really know their direction or what they want to achieve.
