Something coming this Friday from Jonas Blue as confirmed on his insta:

Posted by: DANKENSTEIN 10th October 2017, 03:47 PM

Yay! About time too. Hope it's a female vocal lead track this time.

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 10th October 2017, 03:57 PM

Really looking forward to this. Every track he has released has been brilliant!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 10th October 2017, 04:14 PM

I've hated the first single, loved the second one, disliked the third one and liked the fourth one.

I wonder if that pattern will continue.

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 10th October 2017, 04:34 PM

If Shazamed it's called We Could Go Back and features Moelogo.

If its called 'We Could Go Back' hopefully it will have retro vibes to it in terms of dance style.

Posted by: DANKENSTEIN 10th October 2017, 06:06 PM

Moelogo (male vocalist, by the way) is described as 'South London's rising afrobeats star', perhaps this could be Jonas Blue's 'Instruction' moment with the hints of tribal dance in the production? Certainly would be interesting.

Ooh this has got me a lot more hyped, hoping this can sound a bit different for him tbh

Its not a repetitive post mad.gif Retro style in terms of dance can mean any dance style that was more popular in the past from UK Garage to trance or whatever!

it is very unlikely tho, you've posted this about ten times about different songs speculating about how songs could be retro and 99% of the time, they end up not being at all retro influenced wink.gif

Yes but I only posted it here because of the title of the song! Anyway there have been a lot of a retro influenced dance songs based on 90s styles this decade, so retro influenced is a big category for me.

There was no need for cqmerqn to speak to me like that! It really doesn't make me feel welcome here.

I hope so as the production has been rather too boring and slow for my liking in Jonas Blue's other songs up to now!

Edit: Apart from 'In Your Arms Tonight' with Mark Villa which I just remembered! It definitely should have been released as an official single!

Looks like Jasmine Thompson on the cover art?

if it is it's definitely a possibility, they've already collabed on a couple of tracks music.gif

Weird, we all thought it was just Meologo in collaboration, so maybe both Jasmine Thompson and Moelogo! It would make sense having an artist who has had a big hit before, 'Ain't Nobody' (with Felix Jaehn) on the track to increase the appeal, while also appealing to the fans of Moelego who is well known, as ML Hammer said, in the underground afrobeat music circles.

Posted by: LewisTScream 10th October 2017, 08:54 PM

It's not Jasmine Thompson and it is just Moelogo on the track

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 11th October 2017, 05:05 PM

I am excited for this, love a bit of Afro-beats so hoping this can be something special!

Posted by: jase. 11th October 2017, 11:58 PM

Hoping this is better than the abomination that is Mama

Posted by: M4NG0 12th October 2017, 09:39 AM

What happened to 'Don't Call It Love'? I really liked that. Was it just completely overlooked and it flopped, or was it never intended as a proper single?

Posted by: DANKENSTEIN 12th October 2017, 01:48 PM

That was just a promo single for his compilation, was never intended to be a hit single.

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 12th October 2017, 05:44 PM

Just heard this. Bit of a let from his previous singles. My least favorite so far.

So was 'In Your Arms Tonight' with Mark Villa which I certainly prefer of the two.

Posted by: The Cownjuring 12th October 2017, 05:55 PM

We Could Go Back is kinda dissapointing tbh, it’s not bad by any means, but it’s nothing on his previous singles, hope he can still get a hit out of it tho

Posted by: UltraReputation 12th October 2017, 11:27 PM

ugh this is so bad, nearly on 'Mama' levels of bad already sad.gif rly disappointed with his material this year after how much I love By Your Side & quite liked the other 2.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 13th October 2017, 06:24 AM

Ooh this is nice! Giving me Nico & Vinz vibes!

Posted by: LewisTScream 13th October 2017, 06:32 AM

Posted by: jessie j 13th October 2017, 06:57 AM

Not sure how I feel about this yet, but props to him for going for something totally different this time around.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 13th October 2017, 07:44 AM

This is seriously dire.

I'd say it's the second worst behind 'Fast Car' (But that will take a lot of beating as it's firmly in my "worst things I've ever heard" category).

Posted by: HissingSparkler 13th October 2017, 08:59 AM

Not great, I was optimistic with mdh's post that it was going to be very different but just the same inoffensive generic Spotify hit type tropical house sound really. The only ray of light is the nice African backing singing after the chorus.

EDIT: Changed my mind after a few listens, it is actually an improvement imo from his recent singles with the nice guitar in the drop and Nico and Vinz reminscent style.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 13th October 2017, 11:14 AM

I'm really liking the wistful vibe of the production/vocals/lyrics. I find it very pleasant! Pretty surprised by the negative reaction, not detecting anything offensive about it at all.

Posted by: DANKENSTEIN 13th October 2017, 11:16 AM

I think this will take a few listens but I kinda like it. Not a standout of his for me so far though.

Posted by: Dexton 13th October 2017, 12:54 PM

It's not bad, but it's not gonna be a hit. There's nothing wrong with the vocals, I actually quite like the sounds of Moelogo, but the production doesn't seem to go anywhere especially when compared to everything else in Jonas Blue's catalog. I was hoping his next single would be more along of the lines of By Your Side - or at least a Mama imitation to try get another easy top 10. no.gif

Posted by: jase. 16th October 2017, 07:15 PM

It's alright which is better than I thought it was going to be after reading through this thread. It's a million times better than the diabolical 'Mama'

Posted by: JosephGutierrez 16th October 2017, 07:19 PM

Really weak sad.gif Mama was such a step forward and by far his best to date but this is without a doubt his worst, so non-descript.

It's one of the most basically produced and bland songs I've heard all year. Whatever floats your boat I guess! laugh.gif

An abomination after the incredible 'By Your Side'

By Your Side was pretty good but never captured my attention imo. Mama's one of my songs of the year, so each to their own laugh.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 16th October 2017, 08:00 PM

By Your Side deserved better!

Posted by: Jay ☆ 17th October 2017, 08:27 AM

My favourite to least favourite:

By Your Side wub.gif > Perfect Strangers > We Could Go Back > Mama > Fast Car

Posted by: Bjork 17th October 2017, 08:50 AM

^agree 100%
By your side is his best
Mama was not bad but so overplayed that the song ended up being very annoying

Fast car must be the wors cover ever imho how to cut all feelings and guts out of a song

Posted by: Jo...shh! It's coming 17th October 2017, 08:57 AM

My favourite to least favourite:

By Your Side wub.gif > Perfect Strangers > We Could Go Back > Mama > Fast Car

This is the EXACT same ranking as me!! ohmy.gif Can't believe Jonas Blue have had three HUUUUGE hits now and By Your Side wasn't one of them sad.gif

Posted by: SevenSeize 17th October 2017, 09:10 AM

The public thankfully realising By Your Side was a load of awful screechy tripe cheer.gif Mama was a really good pop tune though, great to see that become a hit (and drive a few buzzjackers up the wall)

(oh yeah, and this new song's alright)

Debuted at #74 today which is surprisingly low for him. Hopefully it will climb!

Posted by: Skeleton💀Wardy 21st October 2017, 10:19 AM

First listen to this today. Liking the production on this one, it sounds much more instant than his previous single. Hope it can do something in the charts eventually.

Posted by: HobDoblin 22nd October 2017, 12:25 PM

The production is very similar to DJ Snake's Let Me Love You in the verses.

A very bland song again from Mr. Blue.

So glad the majority in here agree that By Your Side is by FAR his best piece wub.gif
