I want to see Drake, Weeknd, Kendrick (etc) collaborations - all Leona needs is a big collab with a relevant artist and the world will re-open their eyes.

Her demo album and stuff pre-X factor was very much R&B and Spirit was R&B infused pop. Her voice definitely shines best in the R&B genre. Been wanting her to do a full on R&B album for some time.

I hope we get a Pop/R&B album this time around her voice is made for it imo.
She has also worked with the band Life Of Dillon, King Henry (Producer) and Emmi (Singer/Songwriter).

King Henry is more of an urban producer (R&B/Soul/Hip-Hop). I guess she was writing with Emmi and Life of Dillon.

I still reckon that right now she shouldn't do a studio album and instead release several EP's specifically focusing on the US and try and build up a following and hopefully secure at least one or more moderate sized hits before releasing another album.

So excited for album 6. It's crazy to think that this will be her sixth record. 
Anyway I hope Def Jam get her in the studio with the likes of Sia, Ryan Tedder and Dev Hynes. I need some quality hits. Something to put her back on the map. Also, while she writes and records the next album, I hope she finally features on some high-profile records. Her voice would be heavenly on a commercial House record.

Agreed. A big feature or two is Leona really needs before she starts promoting and pushing album 6 when completed. Right now, the main thing is getting her name out there with a current hit.

For a dance feature, I'd nominate Calvin Harris, Duke Dumont or Disclosure. An Avicii feature would be hilarious but he's become a bit crap these days.
For a non-dance feature, I'd nominate Jason Derulo, Taylor Swift (a duet) or Tinie Tempah.

Leona appeared at Pitbull's show in vegas last night singing Christina's part on "Feel This Moment". I'd totally be here for a Pitbull collab if it produced a hot song like that or "Timber" or "On The Floor"

I think we have been saying it for years, but lets hope this is the year where Leona actually does do features with some high profile produces/djs as it really could be a great way of building her profile back up.

She's label mates with Afrojack and he's remixed "Collide" before (which got nominated for a Grammy) so would love to see her work with him. She's also label mates with Alesso so could collab there.

She hasn't even started recording proplery yet. To the bolded, that didn't exactly work out for Alexandra. Last I checked she's doing musical theatre now (having success there and more power to her). So she's ended up not being a recording artist anymore for the moment.
I see no issue with a full album especially if they have a handful of great singles. I'd definitely like to see a few collabs to help build up her profile though.

No successful artist ever has taken a hit in relevance and actually managed to boost their career by "gathering interest with low key EP releases". She just needs a big single (honestly I don't see much point in a collab, I think hwo she does with her music will largely be independent of how she does with features) and a good album campaign. None of this testing the waters bollocks.

I know this was intended as a joke, but I would LOVE a Freemasons song with Leona. If they are good enough for Sophie Ellis-Bextor, they are good enough for Leona.
Not sure what I think about a Pitbull collaboration, but if it gets her a hit that's fine. It wouldn't get her any credibility though so I don't know how beneficial it would be to her brand.

After the under-performance of her last album i believe she has some very hard work ahead of her to achieve success. A collaboration would help if it was to be a big hit and then a swift follow up with a strong single of her own. Sadly, i believe her success will continue to dwindle.

It's not her career taking a hit - her career HAS BEEN the hit post-Spirit. It's been diminishing returns since the first album and singles-wise since the second single. The ONLY way for her to come back is a complete, slow rebrand as otherwise diminishing returns will continue and that's been disastrous enough already. Some collabos and an EP of collabos could help to get her back some brand worth.

That is the actual level her profile is now at, I couldn't see the big guns in dance like Calvin, Garrix, Avicii, Dumont etc. going for her to collab.

Considering she was working on an album right after leaving Syco/Sony and not being signed, I think she's definitely got it in her to record/release another album or 20. She's definitely been less successful, but she's always done well despite this. She does plenty of private gigs and gets involved in all sorts of music events and such. Her UK tour sold pretty well too.
It hasn't been all diminishing returns. Christmas, With Love and "One More Sleep" did much better than Glassheart and "Trouble". She just needs to right material with a good release stratergy.
Anyway, with Def Jam being in charge/guiding her with this album, I have a good feeling. Especially as there'll likely be a US focus/push for it.

I'm sure the label will be more bothered about the success of this album compared to I Am, since I Am was pretty much entirely recorded before she was signed. So it was a very cheap era for the label.
Def Jam should hopefully do a good job with getting her with hit song writers and giving the album a bigger push.

Didn't you say she'd be dropped after I Am? Poor that.
I think Alexandra should just focus on getting a job at McDonalds because music is definitely not gonna pay her bills. She couldn't even sell an album after a mediocre first album, let alone she'd release an EP for her 3 fans.

I always appreciate the 'news' you bring to DS and all that.. But seriously, dude.. All you do is spread negativity and argue.. Calm down a bit. Everyone else is entitled to their opinions on Leona, her music and what direction they think she should be going in just as much as you are..
She is still here, and she deserves to be, in my opinion, she's the best that there is 😍. However, the last couple of 'eras' havnt gone so well.. I don't think features or EPs are bad ideas.. She needs to slowly rebrand and lose the X factor/competition tag.. She's mega talented.. Although I'd be happy with anything she did

The thing is right now I’m collecting my inspiration. I’m collecting a lot from the experiences I’ve had on tour. Obviously doing the Cirque show was amazing. Being on the road, I get inspired a lot. I’m going to be doing a lot of traveling this year, which I’m sure will inspire me and point me in the direction that I want to go in musically. [I’ll be]traveling mostly for inspiration really; I have some friends that I’m going to visit and stay with for a bit in different places around the world. Whenever you’re able to experience different things and different cultures, that definitely goes into the music and affects the music.
Looks like we won't get the album this year, but great to see she's going to be travelling and likely performing across the world this year (she confirmed she's performing in South Africa in August).

Ye, there's a couple on the first page of the thread that she worked with last year - King Henry and Flashy. We'll likely get a lot more names in the coming months as things have been a bit quiet with Leona having a break after the tour and her Birthday.

I know they would be good in terms of getting her songs more attention but a Pitbull/Jason derulo collab with Leona really doesn't enthuse me at all.
Alesso sessions sound good though. Leona's voice blends well with dance music.

Leona achieving some success enthuses me and although I ain't keen on Pitbull, he would bring her the attention she needs.
As long as she delivers amazing material on her own albums, then she can collab with who she needs to in order to rise up again.

Yeah you're right to be fair, pitbull and derulo doesnt excite me but Alesso really does. I'm really excited to hear that!
To be honest any exposure at the moment is crucial, and if an artists is supported by radio at the moment, and leona jumps on a track with them, i'm happy. We need radio to take notice again!

I heard the song...in my dream last night. It's a duet with a female artiste and a mid-tempo ballad. Leona harmonized with both a soprano and alto, and as any bunny will tell you, she also stole the show. In my dream, a video was being shot for the song. I only saw Leona - night setting, with the music being played back loud. I tried and failed to identify the other female singer, but saw a Bugatti feature on the set. Cool, huh?
Oh, yeah, the song was absolutely fantastic.

Dec 2016 - Free track from upcoming album to get people to take notice of new material
Feb/Mar 2017 - First single from new album
I really hope Album #6 won't be released at the end of the year like all of the others were. Leona needs to exploit the fact that the beginning of the year is really quiet for releases. If I Am was released in July, I'm sure it would've been another top 10 album for her.

I'm assuming the "#Fire" is a hint that she's performing Fire Under My Feet.
If she does perform FUMF, I hope to God it spontaneously blows up, reaches the top 10 on US iTunes and Pop Radio gets all on it. 
I'd love a new single though but I just can't see it.

I do think the I Am era still has some untapped potential. 'Fire Under My Feet' nearly cracked the top 100 of US iTunes while 'Thick Skin' is now being used in the Queen of Katwe trailer.

I think it's a one off thing. Leona's boyfriend is one of the dancers on the show (Dennis). Would be great if the song did something after the performance on the show though.

I'm hoping she will release her lead single early 2017. All of those big realeses like Beyonce Rihanna Drake JT etc etc can only overshadow her.

She performed it at the Rebels With A Cause event and nailed it from the clips and she performed it really well on tour. I think she'll sing the song well.

I would ideally like the album to be released in Q1 2017 but there definitely needs to be a few features this year to give Leona some momentum and hopefully radio support before her next album.

How can you be disappointed? Some of the names people were suggesting were incredibly unrealistic, like come on Leona is a chart flop right now, no other way to look at it. Pitbull is still a very successful, high profile artist and we are lucky Leona has been able to secure a track with him. I for one am over the moon.
You need to look at the bigger picture, ok you might not like Pitbull or his songs but this is great for Leona's exposure, especially if the track becomes a single and a success.

I'm a fan of Leona, so obviously my ideal scenario would be a feature for another artist I actually like, but that's just me. I know lots of people do like him.

I just looked up Pitbull as I am only familiar with him through Dance on the Floor. Surprised how incredibly popular he is (22m twitter followers alone). If the song is in the vein of his collabo with Christina (i.e. not risque) and they go ahead and release, I think it would be wonderful. Don't like that song with Enrique at all. Overtly sexual.

I can't be the only one here thinking Take A Bow as well. Everyone seems to forget his involvement in that song. Still feel like that was a missed single opportunity (would have been a better single than Forgive Me for sure).

Take A Bow is without a doubt one of Leona's best songs. If it was a single i'd argue it would have been her best single with Bleeding Love. So damn good.

Take A Bow deserved to have been the 3rd worldwide single, it would have done brilliantly I reckon. It probably could have gave her a second top 10 in the US.

Completely with you! I could've seen it being a big US #5 hit or something. It had far more "oomph" to it than 'Better in Time'.
And tbh Karma I haven't really listened to LTF in so long. I think it is because it is at the end of Echo so I always never get to that point.
I can't wait to hear what Leona and Ryan cook up in the studio.

More songs like Come Alive please Leona, that remains her best song. I'd like some Ryan penned/produced songs too. And one or two dance songs stolen from producers, I unashamedly adore Collide.

I'm still worried about her weight. Sorry, it's just I've seen the way it can some times when people get on diets and become too sensitive about their weight (Marion Bartoli, for example). I really hope she feasts while in LA (a little fat and DEFINITELY some carbs) and then sticks to exercise (cycling or swimming) to remain toned. But the sunken cheeks things and smile lines, deadened expression...that's not Leona. She was perfect just two months ago, no idea while she decided to push herself further. I hope her inner circle are the kind to really level with her on things.
I'm not too worried about new music and career moves at the moment. I just hope she finds the space, motivation and definitely right partners to help her pick things up again. That can take some time, some prayer for luck, and I'm more than happy to give it all another year before I shamelessly begin demanding for more music.

I wouldn't be worried about her weight, let her do her thing. I think she's just enjoying eating healthy and exercising right now. She does look thin, but she has been this weight before in the early days. She looks happy to me, and thats the main thing.

When Leona posted that letter about her tough times with Syco, I wrote a comment on her blog to the effect that she gets her thyroid checked. Reading through it, I got the sense that a malfunctioning thyroid might be to owe for a depressive feelings. Well, it turns out I was right, and I only want to add now, as she struggles with a side effect-free regiment, to really consider vitamin therapy. That Ayuverda thing can't be good if it causes so much weight loss, more so because the actual cause of her Hashimoto's might be something as simple as Vitamin D deficiency. No harm ensuring Vitamin D (or even B12) are not behind her illness.

I'm sure she's fine - she also mentioned she had other things wrong with her and that she's been checked/going to the doctors and they say she's doing well..
The weight loss is likely because she's eating a lot less crappy foods and eating a lot more fruit/veg. Not to mention she regularly exercises and has been doing so since just before Cats. That's likely helped her shed a lot of weight too. As long as she's being checked up regularly by doctors and they say everything is fine/going well and she's healthy, it's all good.
I think her voice has benefitted a lot with her diagnosis too, as Hashimoto's can affect your voice negatively.
I'm glad Leona's healthy in body and mind now - that'll benefit her vocal performances greatly in the coming years.

I think the realistic aspect, to try and bring her back into relevance, is to attempt to have her feature on songs without having it necessarily linked directly to her. Getting her on something like Clean Bandit track would do wonders for her and probably get this album off the ground.

I don't think she's ever going to be "relevant" if you mean by that big, commercially, and I don't think she's really striving for that anymore either. Island destroyed her last hope of that with the half-arsed I Am era. The best thing to hope for her is that she can somehow release some new music, music she wants to release and it gets out there for people to hear one way or another.

I think she could still have success though - not huge success ala Spirit/Echo, but have albums go silver. She's been working with Kygo and has worked with Alesso in the studio. She certainly seems to be working with a lot more people than previously. Hopefully she'll be working with Ryan Tedder - both said they would love to work with each other again.
I think a classical album could do very well with a Q4 release and some decent promo. Her "Ave Maria" is so beautiful, it would be great to have her release and promote an album in that vein. Leona has said she would love to do a classical album in the future. So hope that comes into fruition at some point!

Agree on Clean Beandit hopefully she releases a first single with them so she could be current and featuring on radios , and despite beinge a feature she will mostly be her song and be recognize, since CB only does the instrumental. These days is so hard for eveyone including the major pop stars, and they should get the first single right this time since she will have coverage and buzz on that. If the first single does not catch in my opinion she should not release a second but just wait a few months and then release another. Plus it would be risky as hell if she releases a single without any relevant feature on it.

As much as I love Ave Maria, I really hope Leona does not do a classical album. I am sure it would do well in a mothers day bargain bin but doubt it would give Leona much credibility (at a time when the public aren't giving her much). Would be nice to see her do some performances with classical acts though.
Features are definitely the way forward at this point to create a bit of buzz about her vocals again. Really hoping her sessions with Kygo and Alesso have created something special.
I am just glad to hear Leona is in the studio and writing again.

I hope she doesn't do RnB. It's such a dull style of music and tends to suck all the soul out of an artists voice. Mariah has done it and look at how her career has gone. She just needs to come up with a catchy tune. One more sleep made no3 and that was only a few years ago so she can still have some success.

Apart from the emancipation of mimi, Mariah has experienced very little success since her change in direction and I think Leona would be in danger of similar fate. Leona has an amazing voice and needs to make use of it and RnB style wouldn't allow her to do this.

I would say with Mariah, the quality of her output dropped quite a bit after TEOM, which I would say was more of a problem than the genre of music she was making.
At this point in Leona's career, she needs try different sounds if she wants to regain some commercial success. This would definitely renew interest for the US fans that bought Spirit, which was mostly R&B. I expect this album to be very focused towards the US market as current UK interest is minimal. R&B is undeniably a big seller in America.

I know people are not too fond of this being brought up, but does anyone else think her weight has really dipped beyond normal? I would never dabble in Ayuverda if such extreme weight loss was a side-effect. Has she made any updates re: her diet and 'levels'? I haven't had time to check. I just know she looks sickly and a lot of people seem to be complementing her on it anyway. I can understand cutting out sugar (fructose) and fats from a diet, but she seems to have switched to low carbs only and plant proteins. Really, is that a practical diet for a vegetarian? A part of me feels she is well-intentioned but perhaps misguided. Vit D therapy (if her levels are low) would have been a much better alternative route to recovery. She really looks like she needs a bit more fat and definitely muscle mass (protein) on her body. I'm just struggling looking at her pictures, that's all.

I think she has looked much healthier as of late and loving that she is embracing her curly hair more.
I have mixed feelings if it is Syco over here again but as long as Leona is happy and in control of what music she is making I am happy. Whichever label she ends up with has to turn out better than her deal with Island.

Yeah, she is featured on it but it wasnt pushed as a single and noone was waiting for the album so it was quite irrelevant.
It was quite high up on new music friday though which i enjoyed.
We need big collaborations before she launches her next campaign, 100%.

Agreed. Unless the collaborations are actually promoted in some form, then they aren't really going to do Leona's profile any big favours.
I am looking forward to them either way as I think Leona's voice suits itself well to dance music, but ideally at least one of them is a decent single worthy track (Only Ones To Know certainly isn't a single worthy track IMO).

Potential duet with Calum Scott.
The X Factor winner in 2009 is planning a collaboration with Britain’s Got Talent finalist CALUM SCOTT.
The Dancing On My Own singer, who has just finished work on his own album, said: “Me and Leona have been texting recently. She was like, ‘Maybe you’d like to do this song with me?’ So we’re going back and forth.
“It’s times like that where I’m like, ‘I’m messaging Leona Lewis about a possible duet. What is going on with my life?’”

She has loads of collabs lined up apparently. And Leona isn't really in a position to pick and choose the cream of the crop, this is about building her exposure again and he had a big hit last year and has now signed with Capitol Records and recorded an album, so will no doubt be getting a major push this year.
If he blows up then that's great for Leona, if not then no harm done.

Based on the wording it sounds like Leona thought his voice would fit a certain song. If that is the case I will trust her judgement, it's not like she is known for collaborating with anyone for the sake of it.

Just saw the pics of Leona Lewis browsing the Daily Mail. She looks lovely. I think she's finally found the right balance with her diet or is healed. She no longer looks too skinny, thankfully. As for new music, no need to rush things. It's not so much about when she releases as it is the right music and the perfect strategy for publicity. No need to stress, too, about her label status. So much has changed in the music industry in the past ten years. There are all kinds of non-traditional deals in place now. I am happy to stay patient for when she's ready to release. It's been just two years since I AM.

Woops, I really think Leona needs to tone down her reaction to the Vegas shooting. It's very dangerous to wade into political territory when you are in her position, and even further, draw a controversial connection between hunters and mass killers. It's just unnecessary. Offer condolences and just move on. That gun control tweet and the hunter/mass murderer thing should be deleted before they get picked up...unless she doesn't mind a target on her back from wingnuts. They are unnecessary remarks from a PR standpoint, especially when you consider she's British.

It's actually been two months since YATR and even though I am actually quite happy with things so far I do get the frustration, as I would kill for some proper music news. I want more info on who she is working with, what direction she is taking with the music and what label she is signed to, its still important who she signs with.
But Nicola has done a good job so far, since December we have had the Kennedy Honour's Performance, A Night For The Emergency Services Performance, The Voice UK mentoring gig, the Dinah collab and Calum Scott's collab with The One Show Performance.

LOL. DS gets crazy from time to time. I can't be the only just glad Leona seems to be doing fine. I think she has fully bounced back from her Hashimotos and the rigorous Ayurvedic treatment. She looks toned and not as skinny as she did earlier last year. As for new music, I'll pin my hopes on later in the year or early next year. There's absolutely no rush if she hasn't found a guaranteed smash single. She is being very smart to uphold her respectability during these times. Best thing an artist in her position can do.

I'd love for things to be moving quicker too, but they obviously aren't where they want to be yet and we just need to give it time. The Calum duet is still to be promoted in the US, it has finally got add dates for Hot Ac radio, June 11th, so that is going to bring extra exposure to Leona.
Hopefully it won't be long after they promote YATR that we see what is coming next, I am hoping for another collab or two.

well in 2011 we had Hurt EP and Collide and the entire leak situation. now all we got in the past 2.5 years was a pitbull collab and a calum scott collab.. i'd say times are way more dry now.

Listened to Spirit and Echo earlier this week and they are still incredible albums of me even Glassheart is a good 8.5/10.
She’s Still one of if not the best UK vocalist ever for me though. Whenever X Factor is on I always in my head compare the singers particularly the female vocalists to Leona and none have ever come close sorry for going off topic but anyways bring on album 6!

When it comes to promoting LL6, I really hope that they consider the Youtube approach. So much promo seems to happen on Youtube nowadays and it looks really effective; for example, videos like The Song Association Game, Finish the Lyric, W magazine's "Celebs do ASMR" series, etc. She could also maybe collab with some popular Youtubers, especially ones that upload covers? It would help give some exposure and those sort of videos usually do well.
I feel like Youtube is the best way to go when it comes to promo nowadays, especially when trying to appeal to a younger new audience.

I think it was confirmed on another forum that she's currently signed and that it's definitely not with SYCO, but I'm not sure who she's signed to tbh.
So do artists have to pay to be on Youtube clips like the song association game etc? I've no idea how it works, but it would be really nice exposure to have her on some popular Youtube series around LL6's release date.
As for collabing with Youtubers, she could probably reach out personally/through her team? I think there are very few music-oriented channels that'd say no to her. But again, I'm not sure how all this stuff works, so my ideas could be nonsense

Oh, another idea, she lives in LA so she could do an FBE "React To" video as a celebrity guest.
EDIT: Further to this, “reaction” videos in general are big on Youtube (Leona and Dinah’s video got quite a few reactions from some small channels, and YATR got a couple of reactions too). Her team could contact a couple of the big shots (ajayll, Tristan Parades, Sam Johnson etc) suggesting they react to her music video or album (the latter two have already reacted to clips with Leona in them), and some middle-level vocal coach reaction channels too. Those channels get hundreds of thousands to millions of views per video, it would be good promo especially for music enthusiasts in the US

I hope they can score some good YouTube collabs and social media buzz, it just seems to be the way to go now.
I’ve seen a quite a few tweets recently (especially from Americans) about how “the gays failed Leona”, “we slept on Leona” etc
this is the sort of twitter buzz that can help make a hit, if Lele’s team can manage to get stan twitter on board, she could honestly be huge.

I think her time has passed tbh, they didn't capitalise on her huge success properly in the first place. The material was too weak singles wise, she needed some big smash singles in vein of I wanna dance with somebody (We found love would have been perfect) to keep the interest there, I think people associated her as being a bit boring very quickly with constant ballads, then not strong enough upbeat material.
Shame really as she is so so so talented, I am a big admirer.

Music consumption has completely changed, and she’d be appealing to almost an entirely new audience. I don’t think being “boring” (which I don’t think she is) is really a factor in how well your music does, if you have a good song and it’s relateable and marketed well, then it should do well. Most importantly, if it’s cool to like you, then people will like you and listen to you. That’s where social media and high-profile social collabs come in.

Collide would have probably done some damage in the US if it was actually pushed properly there. It would probably have introduced people to Avicii quicker in the process as well lol

Would 'We Found Love' have really had the same impact for Leona though? It feels like that just came at the right moment for Rihanna following on from Loud and with Calvin Harris beginning to explode in popularity.

I have heard her demo, and although I think it's great and better, it probably wouldn't have been as big as Rihanna.
Leona didn't turn down WFL either, it was more because of some big egos in the industry. For Glassheart, most of the big songs she recorded (Blank Page, Burn, WFL, Perfectly You, ..) were all originated in the US while Syco mainly wanted UK producers, hence lots got scrapped.

I would love to hear Leona's version of WFL. While it might not have been as big as it was for Rihanna as timing coming together is a huge factor, I'm sure it would still have been a big hit for Leona. It's an excellent song at the end of the day. I always saw this being Leona's modern 'I wanna dance with somebody' ala Whitney.
