Spain are my tips.
Dark horses for me are Poland/Austria.
Absolutely devastated for Welbeck. A real blow to 2018 qualifying hopes as well.
I think you Mack France will win Euro 2016.
Real shame about Welbeck missing out on the Euros.

Considering I currently have Ukraine ranked #3 in the world, this is feasible. Also Turkey has been quietly improving after a disastrous 2014 WC campaign. Their EURO qualifying didn't get off to a hot start either, but they were one of the better teams in Europe during the final 2/3 of qualifying.
1 point for England? My word I sincerely hope that simulation doesn't come true
You need to put a stake on Turkey! Brilliant odds right now.
If England don't get more than 1 point and Ukraine get to the final, I will literally eat my computer.
Out there for the whole tournament. Tickets for Albania vs. Romania, Iceland vs. Austria (both last games of the group so should have something on them for one or both sides making them more interesting than they appear), a R16 match, the Lyon semi final and for all England games as far as they go!
Sounds amazing Mark, I'm jealous. I know a guy that's in the England Supporters Group and he loves it, sounds like he has a right laugh. Certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity, and not too far to travel either. I was tempted to go to the Euros this year, but I'm going to wait until 2020 instead. Or chance my luck at least!
Seeing the squad France have taken to the Euros, I'm not convinced at all. I can see why they're big favourites, but I will be well avoiding them in the betting.
Marcus Rashford has been included in England's provisional 26 man squad for Euro 2016.
England's provisional 26-man squad:
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Tom Heaton (Burnley).
Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool).
Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Ross Barkley (Everton), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Andros Townsend (Newcastle United), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).
Strikers: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United).
Surprised to see Delph and Wilshere picked up over Noble and Cresswell who have had fantastic seasons for West Ham.
Brilliant to see Rashford included. Of course this is solely down to Welbeck's untimely injury but still, what an amazing couple of months for him.
I imagine he'll either get trimmed out when the 23 are announced or being taken but ultimately not play like Walcott in 2006.
Has the ITV & BBC TV schedule for Euro 2016 been released yet? at least I wont have to watch the matches on a stream like the Premier League matches
I shall be taking a 'sick day' off from school on the 16th, [for the England vs Wales game] here's hoping that my tutors don't find this post
anyone else able to watch the match or missing it?
Booked a half day at work months ago in preparation
I've booked the full day off for the Wales game, well a flex day
I find the England squad utterly unbalanced. There's not many players available that we could have picked, but our defense is very vulnerable. You would expect Dier/Bertrand would play as 4th choice CB, but even if that is the case, that leaves us really short for a holding midfield player. I think Townsend/Rashford/Delph will e the unlucky 3 to miss out.
Interesting that BBC & ITV both have shared live coverage of the final, I wonder which channel will get bigger ratings for that match.
What BuzzjackSportsForum tweeted regarding Wilshere:
I don't have cable over in the U.S. so I will be streaming the ESPN matches online.
What is your favourite Euro tournament?
I haven't seen many but for me it's probably Euro 2008. There were a lot of goals in this tournament and quite a lot of entertaining matches, the progress of Turkey added extra entertainment as well because there were a lot of Turkish people who lived in or near my area then and EVERY time Turkey won a match there would be car horns beeping as if they won the tournament itself
Out of the five since I was born.
It would be 2004 because of the unexpected triumph for Greece. The powerhouses of Germany, Spain and Italy going out in the group stages. the controversial disallowed Sol Campbell goal between England and Portugal wasn't good with Urs Meier having his telephone number and e-mail address published in certain English newspapers despite what happened, you can't say that he deserved to be treated like that.
Spain have omitted Diego Costa, Fernando Torres & Juan Mata from the Euro 2016 squad. Surprised about Mata's absence but not so much Costa's or Torres.
I'm surprised Torres is still on the squad to be honest. His cameo appearances in the 2014 WC seemed to be like 'final goodbye' moments with the national squad.
A list of the Euro 2016 squads can be find on here:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3592596/Euro-2016-squads-list-player-24-countries-heading-France.html
I notice Eider Gudjohnsen is in the squad for Iceland, a blast from the past there.
England's starting XI for a 'pointless' friendly against Turkey:
Hart: Walker, Rose, Stones, Cahill, Dier, Wilshere, Sterling, Alli, Kane, Vardy.
an incredibly sub-par performance today. still, good to get the win.
Vardy played well though I suspect he be in the starting eleven, Sterling and Wilshire didn't look that good on paper, our first England goal was off side though but was given, lucky for us, poor defending cost us a goal, they weren't really focused at times. They really need to up their game in the next two friendlies, the Portugal game could see some holes appearing, clearly we wasn't the best side.
yep as Rooney said - at least we will have some rotation when the Euros actually come around - Rooney & co. will be important regardless of what people say
Allowed Turkey too many chances. Still suspect in defence and on the counter attack could so easily have been an draw. Wilshere and Sterling were quite poor. Vardy should start in the Euros.
I expect Portugal to give England a lesson there next Thursday if we continue like this in defence.
Why is Wilshere in the squad anyway? he only played 3 times this season. He was probably at home smoking while the likes of Michael Carrick have been working their butts off for the past 9 months yet there's no place in the squad for him.
When he's fit, Wilshere is a class above any of our other CMs. Hodgson made the right call in including him in the 26 to assess his fitness, and if he's satisfied with that then he fully deserves his place. Carrick should have made the World Cup squad two years ago (and for pretty much every tournament since 2006) ahead of Gerrard or Lampard but he's a bit past it now.
You're underrated Turkey y'all. As my simulated tournament showed, they shouldn't be overlooked. This team has been one of the strongest in the world in the past year. I used to have them ranked in the 50s, but they've climbed all the way up to 22 in short time. Granted, they still lost to many backup English players and I didn't see the match so I couldn't tell you if all the regulars for Turkey were playing, but regardless...I'd be shocked if they don't make a quarterfinal run.
19th senior appearance for Marcus Rashford and it is a England appearance for him.
England Starting XI
Forster, Clyne, Bertand, Smalling, Stones, Henderson, Wilshere, Drinkwater, Lallana, Sterling, Rashford
And within 2 minutes, Rashford is an international scorer. The youngest player ever to score for England on his debut.
Wilshere's been garbage in both these games.
I still expect him to be on the plane.
Great to see Tom Heaton make his England debut. He went to the same high school I went to, he was actually the guest that came and gave out our GCSE certificates.
Another especially average performance last night. I genuinely expect us to play a lot better at the Euros though, I feel as though we didn't really give 100% last night.
Not too impressed with Rashford as others are, he was great in places however its apparent his first touch is not up to scratch and he needs to calm down a bit, as he tends to take one too many touches when it really matters.
I'm glad to get the win though, I'm REALLY looking forward to playing Portugal - a real test of our ability and I hope we'll play something similar to how we'll line up at the Euros (Kane x Rooney to start please)
Remind me why Wilshere is still in the starting 11?
Another average performance from England in their match last night. The opposition team will always find a way to exploit our weak defence and on the counterattack.
Rashford should definitely go, he may not be the best all round player but he's someone that can do something from NOTHING which is a very rare breed for English players these days.
For that same reason I think both Sterling & Sturridge need to go too. It doesn't matter how terrible a game they have if they score a 1-0 winner that's all that counts.
Take Rashford to the Euros, see what happens.
So who is getting cut from the England squad?
Delph is already gone, it's expected Townsend will be another. Guess a lot depends on the Sturridge injury, but even if he's semi fit I think he will go. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't take Barkley.
So Drinkwater & Townsend are the unlucky two to miss out. Naturally, there's uproar about the former.
Was expecting Townsend to drop out. But Drinkwater shame to see him miss out. But there was no-way Roy would remove Wilshere from the squad was there?
Roy Hodgeson is an idiot, why leave out one of the best midfielders of the season and keep Wilshere who barely even played at all?
Wishere is a class above Drinkwater if he's fit, which the medical staff must think he is. Right call.
I'd have taken Townsend over Barkley.
It was inevitable that Wilshere would get in the team. Also inevitable that he'll be straight in the starting line up for the first game of the group stage.
Slightly miffed that Drinkwater didn't make it in however it is what it is, we should just be thankful that this is undoubtedly the best squad we've had in recent years and we have considerably more high quality (or above average) players available to us. Oh, and we've had no injuries of much importance (apart from Shaw however we knew he wouldn't make it match fit again in time)
Looking forward to the Portugal game - will be a real test of our ability to bring it against half decent sides. Something tells me we'll lose.
Love international football and this period in the build up to a feast of football over the next month - much prefer it to club football!!
It is probably our best squad since 2006, not that that's saying a great deal.
It's a good squad, probably our best since 2006, but it's so unbalanced. We are going to really struggle against teams that dominate the midfield as our midfield is poor at controlling and dictating games. And the less that's said about our defence the better! I worry if we play a diamond 4-4-2 as we will need to play Walker/Rose for width, but teams will just waltz through our midfield.
And for Drinkwater, I thought he was okay against Netherlands, but so out of depth in the other two games, especially against Australia.
There doesn't seem to be much hype in England for Euro 2016. Years ago you would see England flags everywhere you went but I haven't seen any yet and the tournament starts next week!
I really think we'll lose to Portugal tomorrow night by a couple of goals.
The BBC currently showing an repeat of the Euro 96 match between England and Scotland with the original broadcast with Des Lynam, Ruud Gullit, the late Jimmy Hill and Alan Hansen.
Nostalgia there.
Where's that euro 96 game on?
20 years ago like what the hell!!
Christ woulda been fun, that Shearer show on now is good too getting me in the mood for another Houghton header
Euro 96 was when I started getting into football. That Gazza miss in extra time and the Southgate penalty miss still hurts
That Euro 96 documentary on BBC One was awesome! England would have won that tournament I think if Gazza didn't miss that chance in extra time, Germany definitely know how to screw England over in semi finals.
I'm sure there will be at least one penalty shootout at the Euros this year.
They'llbe showing a repeat of the Euro 96 semi-final between England and Germany on Wednesday at 7:00pm on the BBC website and on the Red Buttonnas if it were happening now.
Mack, would I be able to run a rolling predicta for the tournament where you predict the scores every night? I'd really like to do that for a bit of fun and I'd be totally up for hosting it if that's okay with you.
Back to the game still goalless not creating opportunities at the moment following Portugal going down to 10 men after a horrific high tackle on Kane.
Will Alves be banned for their game against Iceland?
Renato Sanchez on for Portugal - heading to Bayern for 70m this summer!
Oh is that how it's governed? Pretty shocking if so, could break a guys legs & get no real punishment other than missing the rest of a pointless friendly.
Now just don't mess it up.
This is so typical England though, winning all the friendlies then screwing it up when it matters...
I only watched the 2nd half - seems like I didn't miss much. From watching the first 20 mins it just makes me think what I always thought, the diamond 4-4-2 is poor. We have no width or pace and the players centrally all want the same space. Having Vardy, Kane, Ali and Rooney as 4 of your front 6 is just madness. I don't think the shape suits the players at all. 2 up front is all good on paper, but has looked truly terrible when I've seen it over the past 2 games.
With Rooney an absolute cert to start it's Vardy that needs to be dropped, he's just not effective when not playing like Leicester, he'd be ok to start against a team where we'll have little possession but that's not likely to happen until we reach the quarter finals, or coming off the bench but he's so ineffective otherwise.
I enjoyed last night because hopefully it showed Roy that trying to cram so many form forward players into the team will get us nowhere. Wilshere must start, and stick Sterling in as a proper winger, with Alli playing much narrower on the other side and interchanging with Rooney like he does so well with Eriksen at Spurs.
Never thought I'd say this but we're only missing one player who could be described as even vaguely important through injury and I actually think it'd be difficult to lose anyone of greater importance than Danny Welbeck, he's made Roy's England teams tick since he's played him with a really good goalscoring record internationally, we're always better with him on the left.
We probably looked more coherent when we switched to 4-3-3 with Sterling, Sturridge and Lallana all playing in their proper positions.
Soccer Aid a charity match between England vs Rest Of The World is on ITV tonight at 6PM. Celebrities including Olly Murs, John Bishop, Paddy McGuiness and Jack Whitehall are taking part. Jaap Stam, Edgar Davids, Dimitar Berbatov & Cafu are among the players on the Rest Of The World team. It should definitely be a fun and funny match to watch if the last match is anything to go by
Wales have lost their last friendly match 3-0 against Sweden.
Bbc pundits are saying Englabd could be Euro2016's Leicester??!! Surely someone like Wales or Iceland would be more appropriate for that link.
What? The 4th favourites can't exactly be Leicester - the near least favourites. Strange article choice, if it's just a ploy to try and make people optimistic it's not exactly working for me.
England are not going to win Euro 2016, let's not kid ourselves.........
The 'Leicester' by virtue of only narrowly being able to be here would be Albania, got straight through the qualifying group instead going to the playoff sections (where they would have likely lost) because of their match against Serbia being awarded to them. Not that they're going to do anything here.
I'm not TOO up on my Premier League comparisons but... England look like more of a Liverpool.
I've just seen that the Euro 2012 thread had 23 pages overall. We can definitely beat that this year!
The intro:

And also the match is on the BBC Red Button.
I really wish the Golden Goal would come back into football. Watching this repeat of the Euro 96 semi final between Germany and England I can see how tense it must have been at the time which makes for great entertainment if you're a neutral.
Poor brave Gareth Southgate...
Omg we did a sweepstake at school and I got France *.* I think there like one of the favourites to win so I'm really happy with that!
(and my friend and I also put a £10 bet on that our own country would do better than the country the other one got so he should hopefully be giving me £10 *.*)
(I never do well in sweepstakes as well! )
Yeah, I did one at school for my class and I got Spain (I didn't cheat I promise) so hoping they do well although I will still root for England primarily!
I got France on DalekTurret32's sweepstake.
I'm hoping that the football will be remembered in this tournament.
It'll be interesting to see - after the first 14 days of the tournament we will only down to 16 teams lol
The Euro 2000 semi final and final were exciting too - the final between France and Italy was brillant
Zidane was unreal in that semi-final with his skills probabaly his absolute peak!
Let's hope France don't lose their opening match on home soil, that would be an awkward situation... ha
When was the last time the host nation, lost their opening match on home soil. I can't remember of the top of my head.
15 out of 20 BBC pundits have backed France to win Euro 2016. I agree with them, I really think home support will make the difference for France.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36417119
France are too obvious for my liking...
As Dobbo said! I really believe they're overrated and will stumble at the quarter finals.
Unfortunately, more clashes:

Pleased to see Wales play in a major tournament and doing it for the late Gary Speed who would have been delighted to see them in the Euros. Never forgotten Gary Speed. RIP.
I put money on France, they bettersnatch
Romania have played well actually could have scored in the first 5 minutes, the French look a bit wobbly at times, just needs a lift hopefully a few goals in the second half.
Half time and its 0-0. A very average game so far, France not looking any better than us in terms of finishing and defense to be totally honest.
Romania are a solid outfit, conceding the least goals in the whole of the qualifiers.
Having said that I did expect a comfortable home win tonight!
How Romania could rue those chances they had. First goal. 1-0 France from Giroud.
An equaliser there from Romania after a penalty concede by Evra. Getting a bit tetchy out there.
Cue £60M bid for Payet from Barca this summer.
Beautiful goal <3
Oh bother, there goes my 1-1 prediction
Lovely second goal from France, I wasn't watching that much with hosting quizzes but I did manage to catch that, that's a good start to the tournament from the hosts and from what I saw, a respectable performance from Romania too.
Special goal from Payet there. Can't see France winning the tournament outright , their defense is very vulnerable. Good effort from Romania there. An average game there but a good goal from Payet.
That Payet goal was a stunner, a great opening game from both sides, after the poor first half. I can see Romania going through as well from this group, yet to see Albania and Switzerland play tomorrow.
Fantastic goal from Payet to win the match for France, I wonder what ML Hammer95 made of that
West Ham will do well to keep Payet if he has a good tournament, great goal!
Romania were like I thought they would be, France played well, but Romania were really unlucky. Think they will qualify still.
Great goal from Payet. However I did think France were slightly above average on the whole, a few sparks of brilliance but there wasn't anything that suggested to me other than those few moments that they were great.
My prediction was 3-1.
I can't see Payet at West Ham at all next season, a huge bid from Barca/PSG I can envisage...
I really hope Payet stays at West Ham. However if PSG cone calling I expect him to pounce on the opportunity.
Solid opening game despite a poor first half. France were a bit iffy following that first goal and I was a bit worried for them, but that Payet goal was beautiful and was more what we expected to see. Very solid from Romania too, especially for an opening game against the home nation (hell they were REALLY close to having the first goal of the tournament!).
They were! Was thinking it would be Brazil 2014 all over again where Croatia got the first goal (admittedly from a Brazilian player).
Well I personally hope he stays! Some of his stuff lit up the league last season but the international tournaments seem to massively inflate a player if they have a good one - I'm thinking James Rodriguez after the World Cup!
It's going to be an open tournament, while I think Germany/France/Spain are the standout teams, they're all easily beatable. It's not like 4-6 years ago where it was extremely difficult to beat Germany or Spain in an competitive game. All teams have their weak points, France's is definitely their defence.
Albania vs Switzerland doesn't look like an exciting game on paper but hopefully it will be one.
But the least exciting matches usually tend to be the polar opposite....
Unless you're talking about Nigeria vs Iran in the 2014 World Cup - that looked crap and ended up being the worst football match I ever watched.
Who doesn't love a day with 3 matches.
Can't wait for this one, I have a good feeling about it. It's also nice to see a new side at a major tournament with Albania.
1-0 Half time.
Cana off.
It's shame, that red card. Cana slipped and if he didn't do something, it was going to be 2-0. Unfortunately, anything he did (hand ball, drag down Sefarovic) was going to get him another yellow in a goal-scoring prevention situation. Albania was really taking it to the Swiss. They aren't out of this yet. It's an uphill climb, but they could still equalize with a counter-attack.
The first half was a bit messy but enjoying seeing a new country playing in the tournament, if Switzerland score another goal, and don't concede one, they should be leading the group.
Albania had a good few minutes around the 30-minute mark, but nothing's got through. I am hoping they'll outperform a bit because underdog rules but I'm not expecting them to.
Gashi almost tied it! For God's sake, make a little dribble to the right at the last second and put it in!
I counted too many yellow cards in that match, I lost count in the end, it felt like a whole team was yellow carded, the match itself was okay, it brought a new team into the fold, but they did nothing for me.
Switzerland probably deserved the victory, they had more of the ball and created more chances than Albania but the goalkeeper for Albania made quite a lot of good saves and looks like a decent keeper.
Wales vs Slovakia!
The first game with one of the Home Nations in it - really looking forward to seeing how well Wales do on the big stage! Part 2 of 3 of a brilliant day of football.
Brilliant start for Wales (I'm supporting them also as my place of birth however when they play England I will back the Lions).
More violence in Marseille this afternoon between French police and English fans... Police tactics sound heavy handed I must say, but English fans far from blameless. Our drinking culture baffles those in continental Europe.
Typical England fans.
That sub genius.
Wales suddenly looking in trouble a bit, stay like this please
England fans situation is a weird one. I know of people out there and they're saying it's not like the media are portraying it at all. Claiming they're being provoked by other groups first. It's a minority of fans though, and most of these people won't even be going to the England games! Cheap flights and close proximity seems to bring out the trouble makers who just look for any excuse to kick off. Regardless of whose fault it is, it's certainly not good for us.
Yes Wales (now need England to perform)
Wow... great performance from Wales best match of the tournament so far, England can't concede a goal against Russia though later. Could have been 4-1, Ramsey missed an opportunity and I think they should have had a penalty, Skrtel deserved to be yellow carded for that attack out of nowhere.
And perfect result from me 2-1 spot on
Wales were slightly above average. Going to need to be more consistent against England and Russia though.
And I also heard Fellini has blonde hair *.*
Shame we've had scenes from 18 years ago being replicated from so-called 'fans'. How are they fans?
Back to the matches.
Didn't see Switzerland v Albania, expected Albania to struggle but fair play to them though although they had chances.
Great performance from Wales an exciting team.
Turkey vs Croatia the first match for Sunday and I think this will be the best match so far. During Euro 2008 the many Turkish people in my area were going APE every single time they won a match whether it was in the group stage or the knockout stage, every win was celebrated with beeping car horns and chants of "TURKEY, TURKIYE!"
So it will be interesting for me personally to see what happens if Turkey win this match today because there is still quite a large proportion of Turks living in or around my area.
Big smile on my face seeing Wales win. Literally had no hope at all but even if they lose everything else, seeing then at the top of the table for a few days is worth it. Bad luck to England but a point is a point.
The Russian FA face an UEFA probe following the events of yesterday.

Back to the football.
Looking forward to Turkey v Croatia match, could be a good game there.
Hoping for a big Turkey win (I have them in the sweepstake).
That goal
That was an absolutely stunning goal from Luka Modric to win the match for Croatia, early goal of the tournament contender.
My dad and me won £9! Great.
Northern Ireland vs Poland on right now, anyone watching?
I am - all over Poland in the betting, and Milik is my top goalscorer bet!
Milik just come really close for Poland. Great move - something tells me they have it in the bag.
Milik top goalscorer at 150/1!
Not a bad effort from Northern Ireland there to only concede one goal. Where was Lewandowski? He had a poor game for Poland.
World Champions Germany up next! I think the goals might start pouring in at last tonight.
Torn between tweaking my prediction at the last minute to a 4-0 win or leaving it as it is.
I'm going for an 2-1 win to Germany.
I shall stick with 3-0 to Germany.
Mustafi an ex-Everton player scores for Germany following a free-kick.
Come on Ukraine!
Oh just some stats, for the World Cup the sport forum got around 900 replies in total I'd say, and we've already amasses over 400 replies for this tournament in total with all threads into consideration. Brilliant, we'll smash 1000 replies.
Ukraine really coming in to this game now.. the Germans have lost their control of the midfield.
Really enjoying the Germany vs. Ukraine match, Ukraine had a few opportunities towards the end of the first half.
Great goal at the end of the match, I did find the second half a bit dull though, as if Ukraine just wanted to give up, probably ran of steam in the end. Germany look like the winners, I think they can go all the way.
Love to see a Belgium vs Germany final.
I was joking with the person that I was watching the game with that Bastian Schweinsteiger was coming on to stretch his legs for the last few minutes , as a United fan I was happy to see him get on the score sheet.
Germany deserved to win the match and were in control of the game for the majority of the game although their first goal shouldn't have counted as that wasn't a free kick. Germany will be there or there abouts as they always are, I can see them getting to semi final at least but I still reckon France will win the tournament.
Spain are SO DULL to watch, seemingly trying to pass it into the net against a defence of about 8 people. It was painful at times, I just wanted them to actually shoot rather than trying to walk it in.
Ah ha. Typical Spain, didn't even bother watching because a scoreline and playstyle like that was bound to happen. Boring team.
What a dull game from Spain, if England couldn't find the net, Spain couldn't until the last 3 minutes. They were horrendous, I really can't see the holders winning it.
Anyhow 10 points for me, that will do nicely.
I'm actually looking forward to the Belgium vs. Italy game tonight.
Germany manager
I haven't seen the Spain match yet, will watch the highlights tonight but i'm not surprised that it ended 1-0. Spain are not as attacking as they were in 2008.
Spain are so boring I forgot to predict it.
Watched it in Science this afternoon (our teacher chose that do doing osmosis and diffusion which I'd say is an inspired decision), OH MY GOD one of the worst games since Nigeria vs Iran. yawn.
Half time.
Republic of Ireland 0-0 Sweden
1-0 to Ireland. (I can't watch any of these because I'm at work, but I have livescore.com up at my desk.)
Right after Ireland took the lead, Sweden cranked up the pressure big-time and has finally broken through. Zara Larsson scored and it's 1-1.
Never expected that result, especially when Ireland scored, on the plus side, my prediction was 2-0 to Sweden, so no points there on the predictor
Great match, its a shame Belgium couldn't find the net, they had so many chances especially right at the flipping end. Never expected Italy to win that game, I was very impressed with Italy, overall a great match. Belgium at the bottom eek, they should beat Rep. Ireland no problem, hopefully they can beat Spain as well. Spain's performance was dire tonight.
Belgium are very overrated, team of individuals for sure.
Belgium just got destroyed by Italy. They played the game as if they were better than Les Azzuri (is that it?) however got smashed It was so poor from them, a fully deserved Italy win.
There hasn't been many goals scored yet in these opening games but I'm sure it will pick up soon!
Watching highlights of these matches sucks, it feels as if there was only one match that took place today (Belgium vs Italy). At least when you watch Match Of The Day for Premier League highlights it still feels almost like watching it live but watching the highlights now on ITV just feels like it's rushed and devoid of drama. At least when they get to the knockout stage the matches will take place at more convenient times for most people.
Saturday 25th June & Sunday 26th June in particular look like days of heavy football
Spain and Belgium definitely don't look or played like champions today. You can never write off Italy although we'll see what happens there. ITV highlights look rushed we've nearly twice the amount of time on analysis than the actual highlights.
Farcical that the next World Cup is going to be held in Russia.
Especially after how some supporters of Russia have behaved who could face disqualification from the tournament if they are only more trouble.
Back to the football-
Well done Hungary beating Austria who just didn't cope with the occasion and the pressure.
Didn't see the Austria game, but I just caught the final score from it, Hungary winning 2-0, didn't really expected them to win, I got nothing for that game predicta wise.
Portugal looks comfortable tonight, they should sail through, unless Iceland gives them a good game, I predict 2-0 to Portugal.
And on that Russia disqualification, doesn't bode well as a host nation for the World Cup
It should be an comfortable win for Portugal. Full credit though to Iceland for making it to the Euros.
COME ON ICELAND
Suddenly gotten quite interested in this match. Go Iceland! Would be fantastic for them and awful for Portugal to get something out of this.
Even saying that his best days have seldom come in the Portugal shirt. Great start to Group F if Iceland can hold on, the 2 underdogs causing upsets!
This match really fizzled out for me, I expected better from Portugal, at least I got 10 points from this match.
I think Iceland will get through you know, they'll beat Hungary I reckon!
So annoying, I've Portugal in my prediction league for money 2-1, and I backed Iceland to win (9-1 is way too tempting against an average side!). BUT delighted for Iceland regardless. Big point for them. The Portugal-Austria game is massive now, if either side loses that, they could be out.
What a great game! Good to see Iceland draw
Could be an possibility of Iceland and Hungary going through. Favourite moment of the Euros has to be tonight with Iceland drawing with Portugal. I'm so glad that they held on for a draw.
Iceland deserved the draw I think and even could have won the match with some of the good chances that they had. Portugal are and always have been quite overrated, their only really good teams were the Euro 2000 & 2004 teams. They couldn't even make it out of the group stage at the last World Cup and they wont go far in this either.
And may I add Ronaldo was incredibly average. If I had to choose between having Finbogason and Ronaldo in my team based on that game I know who I'd choose Oh, and that Renato Sanches bloke just stood there and didn't really do anything
The Russian manager must be on something his head keeps on tilting forwards and backwards, his medication needs changing
Romania vs Switzerland next. Switzerland will be in the round of 16 if they win this match, same goes for France in their match against Albania tonight.
Just on here - well done Ireland wee Wessi showing how good he is!!
Im glad Iceland got a point last night Ronaldo showing his lack of class with his petulant remarks afterwards!!
Cristiano Ronaldo spitting his dummy out by saying Iceland have an small mentality over them celebrating their draw with Portugal. You're the one with the small mentality in this tournament so far, Cristiano.
Iceland drawing against Portugal and how the fans/ players reacted was my favourite moment of Euro 2016 so far.
I think I have underestimated Albania quite a bit in this tournament.
Poor Albania.
On the plus side I get my 10 points, predicted 2-0 to France.
Or 40 points! I knew that'd happen.
Not too shabby today amassed 90 points *.* 10 points from the French game
That was a sad end to the match for Albania, I was hoping that they would win but France struck in the 89th minute again before making it 2-0. France have now qualified for the round of 16 as a result of their win tonight, Albania would be eliminated now if only the top 2 teams in each group could go through but they have the 3rd place league as a last chance to make it through.
They played so well tonight Albania - play some good technical football. France just started poring forward in the end and there was more and more gaps.
Hope the Albanians get something from their final game.
It's interesting this tournament how so many unknown sides like Romania, Hungary and Albania have shown how they thoroughly deserve to be in the tournament.
Possibly but i would argue Hungary and Albania didnt really set up defensively they set up as a team atacking and defending together.
Teams like Iceland and Albania are a lot more organized than people give them credit for. Their strategy against anyone, not just the tops teams, is to play back and counter-attack. Obviously they don't have the same level of talent, but they make up for it with organization and togetherness.
I think there are just more top teams than there used to be and a large group of them are equal near the top. Argentina is the top team in the world right now, in my eyes and all the major rankings agree with me (FIFA/ELO).
If Northern Ireland lose to Ukraine then we can pretty much rule them out of Euro 2016 and rule spadogs out of the sweepstake.
Wait Hazza can you link me to the sweepstake? I don't remember doing it.
Everyone's selected teams are in the second post of this thread!
I think it would be a good idea as the tournament progress to put a cross next to the team and poster that gets eliminated in the sweepstake until there is only one team and poster left, e.g. Romania - Hazza Chapman
From the round of 16 onwards in particular it would make entertaining reading I think.
Ireland's game is showered with hailstones
Outstanding result for Northern Ireland! Kudos to anyone who saw that coming.
Ukraine all but confirmed as out (can't see them getting anything vs. Poland)
Fantastic result for Northern Ireland on an successful day for British football.
Fancy Poland here.
I think Germany will bag this, after a slow start.
Germany were horribly average and the worst I've seen them play for a good few years.
They were but I still think they'll win the tourno. Every team has its stumble at some point, even if France do go on and win they're been far from convincing so far in either game.
What a dreadful game of football that was between Germany and Poland. I think the pundits hit the nail on the head by mentioning this new system of the 3rd placed teams qualifying for the next round, a team can lose two matches in the group stage (Albania) and still have a chance of making it through and having 3 or 4 points practically guarantees you getting into the round of 16 so teams are not playing to win as much as they usually would which is why not many goals have been scored so far and most of the matches have been quite dull.
I can't wait for the knockout stage to begin as a match like this where no one tried hard to win would end up in extra time or a penalty shootout and we should get more entertaining matches as a whole when teams realise that the final is getting closer and closer.
I actually turned off after the first half of that game, when I saw the final result, I figured out the second half was nothing much of an improvement, Germany usually score at least a goal in their matches they just took it all in their stride. I still think they will go through to the final.
Germany have looked decisively average both the times I've seen them. Not enough of a goal threat and their full-backs are poor. Like I said previously, we're lacking real quality in the top teams. This Germany side is nowhere near the standard of 2012-2014.
Ah yeah forgot about the Sweepstake! Go Iceland even more then.
Albania: Jade

Wales: Oliver
Klumzee is the first victim of the sweepstake!
Italy have qualified for the last 16 after beating Sweden 1-0.
Ooh Austria. Conveniently one of the only teams to lose by two goals.
Italy once again played well, not playing like tournament winners though.
They were good against Belgium but it was hardly the defensive masterclass everyone was going on about, they conceded a few decent chances albeit to some good players. Today's game was bloody awful. They'll come into their own in the latter stages when they can more easily sit back and soak up pressure but I don't think there's many goals in the team against a good defence.
Italy & Spain are very similar, very safe football looking to just edge their opponents out.
Croatia look the most exciting team on current showing so far!
The Czech Rep. - Croatia game is great, going for the draw by the looks of it now.
And we finally have our first game with 4 goals!
Brilliant comeback from the Czechs but Croatia have been their own enemy with that.
I put 2-0 so once that went had to hope for another goal either way so I wouldn't lose ground!
Chance for Spain to cement their place in the next round but I have a feeling they could struggle again tonight.
A great game that will sadly be overshadowed by the flares and fighting. A really good watch though
Caught the tail end of Czech Republic vs Croatia. The Croatian fans are absolute idiots, they had the match won and they ruined it for their team. Croatia will regret those dropped points for sure.
They'll definitely be punishments given by UEFA on Croatia over the flares and fighting.
Croatia will probably get a suspended disqualification, similar to what Russia gets. It might be even worse as they have a history and the violence looked worse.
Croatia completely messed up my gambling today, idiots!
And finally we see a team score 3 goals! Spain laying down a strong marker tonight.
Spain have really played tonight and found the net where the Germans couldn't, but silly me I put 3-0 on my predictor and I went to change it to 2-0 before the game started "note to self never change my predictions"
Only 20 points today
Spain looking slightly above average
Spain played really well tonight but I have to say that Turkey made them look really good as well, Turkey were terrible and I can see them losing to Czech Republic in the final group game. They were the luckiest team in qualifying by being the "best third placed team" and would certainly not have qualified if the format of the tournament stayed at having 16 teams instead of 24.
Spain are not only in the round of 16 but they are now the bookmaker's favourites to win Euro 2016 after beating Turkey. I hope Spain don't win it otherwise it will become like Sevilla's domination of the Europa League winning it three times in a row.
Belgium seems to have finally found their mojo
Yeah Belgium look pretty good. Can't see them going too far though, I predict quarter finals for them as they are evidently not the finished package.
That's Ireland out them, highly doubt they'll beat Italy.
Belgium played well, but this Ireland team are average. Still think their defence is pretty suspect.
Belgium looked very promising during that match as contenders to win the tournament, kudos to anyone who predicted the final score to that match, only got 10pts from it, I predicted 2-0 to Belgium.
The Hungary goalkeeper looks like he's out for a P.E lesson with those tracksuit bottoms
That was cruel for Iceland there. They deserved to win. Unfortunately some "fans" from Hungary were involved in clashes with the police before the match.
Hungary should have won that match, I don't think that penalty was a penalty in the end, if that makes any sense.
I'm absolutely convinced the Ronaldo that plays for Portugal is not the same one that plays for Real Madrid.
Yes! And no doubt he'll mysteriously re-appear tonight if this scoreline stays the same...
I'm absolutely convinced that Ronaldo, is the court jester with a big grin on his face, throughout that match
He missed it, I should have bet my house on that.
He'll probably complain that the post was in the wrong place
Brilliant
He scores but disallowed epic fail PRICELESS
This is hilarious
Brilliant game for a 0-0 though!
Entertaining second half with the Ronaldo hoo ha's I'm utterly convinced Portugal are the worst team in this tournament.
Great game. Was really intense near the end, Ronaldo really gave it his all didn't he?
A nightmare for Ronaldo. Who is he gonna blame after that? Austria have certainly shown why they shouldn't have been dark horses when the tournament started.
We can hope there isn't any more crowd trouble in this tournament.
Looking at the route for the knockout stage England have a golden opportunity to reach the semi finals if they win Group B, they should beat the 3rd place team in A/C/D and then they could potentially play Belgium/Portugal/Hungary in the Quarter final. Then they will almost certainly face Spain in the semi final which would be the end of the road for England.
So unless something freaky happens we'll be seeing Spain in the Euro final again
So out of the two songs/opening credits for the euros from ITV and BBC which is best?
BBC usually do these things best but the ITV cartoon is great IMO whereas the BBC choice of music is great!
Anyone watching Romania vs Albania at the moment? I am! Albania winning 1-0 at half time and they are in 3rd place as things stand which would give them a chance of making it to the next round, Romania are heading out of the competition.
Chose Albania over France.
oh and, 'Brazillll, braaazziillll' >>> everything
France are really not that special at all, scraped past Romania & Albania and a completely abject performance tonight...
Really the BBC should have swapped the matched considering there was more at stake in the Albania-Romania match. At least in my mind. I am glad ITV have most of the last group matches, as the BBC are putting their other one on the red button next time. Gary Linkeker was very dismissive of that match.
It also seems odd the last round of matches in the group go head to head, mind you this has always been the case, and the World Cup tournament does the same.
Yeh if they took place at 5 & 8 it would be terrible.
Its the same with the final fixtures in the qualifying matches when Irelandd played Armenia in October 2011 the game started at 6pm because Russia played in thr group and it was all to play for so I had to go to Dublin for a game 2 hours earlier than normal. Think I may chose to watch the Wales game tonight as it has more at stake.
I hope Wales can keep this up against Russia
I wouldn't let myself believe it could happen but Wales have won the f***ing group! CYMRU AM BYTH!
Despite the school being in Wales, almost all the kids support England and have been chanting '2-1' at me all week (even tho I don't even hate England like a lot of Welsh people do) and I've taken it all with good humour.
But I may not be able to help myself tomorrow...
Very well done to Wales Good to see Russia out after outside events but even on the pitch they haven't set this tournament alight at all.
I never thought Wales would top the group. England had most of the possession throughout the match, they just didn't take any chances to push harder. I think we play the runners up of Group F in the next stage, could be Portugal or Hungary, I probably fancy Hungary.
Well done to Wales. Fantastic performance from them with the potential to go further in the tournament. They've done the late Gary Speed proud. And a nation proud.
'La Mer' and the animations are good from ITV for their opening titles.
Russia out hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahaha
hahahahahah
Spain Vs Croatia (ITV) 8PM kick-off
Czech Republic vs Turkey (ITV 4) 8PM kick-off
I'll be watching Czech vs Turkey, the Spain match is better on paper but I have a strong feeling that the other match will be more entertaining.
Germany & Poland into the round of 16 and Slovakia have qualified as well as one of the best third placed teams. Czech Republic & Croatia are likely to join those teams tonight.
Looking forward to Spain tonight.
Well done Northern Ireland. Given themselves a brilliant chance of reaching the last 16 now, what an achievement!
Turkey could be doing Northern Ireland a big flavour tonight if it stays 1-0 between them and Czech Republic.
Leaving aside the fact that the penalty shouldn't have been given in the first place, how can three officials miss the fact that the goalkeeper was at least two yards off his line when the kick was taken?
That rule always seems sketchy at best, just like the encroachment rule on penalties which almost never seems to be given...
Oops Spain play Italy will be a good match, as things stand
HUGE game that, of course a repeat of the Euro 2012 final.
Probably gonna be a dull 0-0 going all the way to pens though, but it does open up the competition a bit now!
That's not what I expected in the end, but Croatia really played well, the match has been entertaining to watch, and that penalty which was saved, great goalkeeping.
I love to see Hungary beating Portugal tomorrow, Portugal is just one man team, and Ronaldo has been terrible in this tournament. Love to see Iceland going through as well ahead of Portugal
So pleased Croatia beat Spain and we have a fairly open draw coming up, should mean we have a couple of interesting teams going quite far in the draw.
Czech Republic went AWOL against Turkey tonight, the match was too easy for Turkey. they will be through to the round of 16 if Portugal lose and Sweden fail to beat Belgium tomorrow.
The reward for Northern Ireland getting through is a match against France!
Ha ha at Portugal
England - Iceland would be HUGE!
What a cracking match, goals galore
Finally the game we've been waiting for
COME ON Hungary
The bipolar world of Euro 2016 strikes again! A 6 goal thriller at a time when a lot of people (including me) would have missed the game. Probably Ireland vs Italy will be a dull 0-0 draw now.
I have a sneaky feeling Ireland will win this match. They have to win & it would be fantastic to see all 4 home nations in the last 16. Furthermore Italy have already won the group whatever happens!
Kudos to anyone that predicted that final scoreline,
OMG Iceland
Quite surprised there, England play Iceland.
I'm not entirely sure if that's preferable actually it'll be another 10 men behind the ball display which we are shockingly poor at dealing with, but on the flipside they don't have a Ronaldo who on a good day would tear our defence apart. Iceland have no pressure on them whatsoever too.
That's a really good point although the fact they have no pressure on them means they're probably going to go for it - that's what they're playing like so far so I can't see them doing a Slovakia.
I was watching the Portugal match on the TV and Iceland on my phone. That was so exciting, most enjoyable matches of football for absolutely ages.
It's looking like Croatia could make it to the final judging by the split in the knockout route to the final.
Group F really have been providing the big moments this tournament, insane to think Hungary & Iceland are the top 2, very well done to both and Hungary/Portugal was a hell of a match to watch.
Gah, I'm torn with England vs Iceland, obviously preferable from our perspective to Portugal, but I've been rooting for little old Iceland throughout :'(
Ha Portugal and Ronaldo.
That's what a small country can do, Ronaldo!
Well done to Iceland.
The best match of the tournament between Hungary and Portugal though.
England vs Iceland is just a play-off for who will be knocked out by France in the quarters at the end of the day, nothing to get excited about for England.
Hungary could have an easy ride to the semis, been in the other end of the draw, I like to see them go further to the final, they have been my favourite country of this tournament, that match has to be the best game of the tournament, it was nail biting to watch.
Hungary have to be considered a lively outsider now for further success in the Euros.
The Hungary v Portugal match nearly had the same amount of goals than there were in Group C.
England vs Iceland will be one frustrating game unless we score within the first 20 minutes!
Aww at us playing Iceland, I wanted them to shock further but that'd have to be at our expense. Another match like England vs Slovakia where I equally want both sides to do well.
Gonna hope Croatia whacks Portugal, the former have been playing very well and don't deserve to go out to the one team that's recently been a 'big team' a lot on that side of the draw.
England have only played Iceland once before, a friendly in 2004. England won 6-1. Somehow I think Monday's game might be a little closer.
And there was Lineker saying we've got a good record against Iceland when we're played them once!
Has Robbie Brady become Ireland's hero?
Would you believe it all four home counties going through
Euro 2016 will still go down no matter what happens as the best tournament for the Four Nations bar England.
A brilliant win for the Republic of Ireland. A repeat of their '94 World Cup win against Italy.
I can't believe how unbalanced the draw looks on paper. We will have a seriously underdog team in the final while Germany, Spain and Italy will need to battle to get to the semi-finals. It's all so exciting when it's like this.
I feel confident England will beat Iceland, we should at least get into the final 8, I think we could be playing France in the last eight if they get through, if Rep. Ireland don't pull another surprise. Its nice seeing the underdogs playing well in this tournament, Hungary are really first class to watch.
I can see the Italy vs Spain game going to penalties at least we lose one of the big countries very early.
Thank God that the group stage is over now, the tournament will really come alive now!
Croatia vs Portugal
Wales Vs Northern Ireland
Spain vs Italy
These above matches in particular will be really fun to watch in the Round of 16, I can see the Croatia vs Portugal being full of goals, Wales vs Northern Ireland will have the flow and tempo of a Premier League match and Spain vs Italy is on paper the tie of the round.
We're most likely gonna get a Germany/Italy/Spain vs France semi final and a Croatia/Portugal vs Belgium/Wales/Northern Ireland semi on the other side of the draw. And of course we will get the obligatory penalty shootout along the way.
Wonderful night for Ireland - brillant to see Robbie crying when he scored - would a premier league player react like that - doubtful and the reason why imo international football is still the best type of football.
I reckon Croatia look good for the semi-finals at least. They've impressed me the most so far.
http://www.lemonde.fr/big-browser/article/2016/06/23/euro-2016-et-le-commentateur-islandais-devint-fou_4956611_4832693.html
omg
If England beat Iceland could be meeting Hungary or Belgium in the last eight, if England go any further could be meeting France or Germany in the semis
It's crazy how much blame Hodgson needs to take. We had one of the best opportunities in generations to get a really favorable draw and have a brilliant chance of making the semi-finals. He needs to go. He doesn't know his best team, or the best system to use. It's a major crime and I blame the pressure from fans/media as one of the criteria.
We're going to be lucky to get past the QFs.
Belgium/Croatia/Poland have a great chance of reaching the final now.
Glad England avoided a game against Norther Ireland. For what it is worth, I am expecting a 0-0 affair, with Wales winning on penalties.
Looking forward to the knockout stages beginning this weekend! Wales vs Northern Ireland & Croatia vs Portugal will be entertaining to watch and at least one of them could go to extra time I think.
Talk about back to back football if Wales and N. Ireland draw. I just had to reset my TV, as it goes off every 4 hours on its own
Wales vs Northern Ireland is looking like it will go to a penalty shootout.
That goal from Shaqiri was amazing! It's a shame for him that his team ended up losing on penalties.
Croatia vs Portugal should be a decent match full of goals I think. Hopefully it will be like that anyway.
Not watching this game but will be watching the Croatia game. looking forward to it.
Kudos to Stephen Williams for staying on with that injury, but should have been taken off since they were leading in case he had another knock. A great win for Wales though, not their best game, hopefully they get Hungary in the next round.
Over the moon to see Wales go to the final 8. Who'd have thought that before the tournament? Tough luck Northern Ireland. It would have been amazing to see them through.
A damp squib so far between Croatia and Portugal.
Shaquiri's goal is up there for goal of the tournament.
And still we haven't had a shot on target in the Croatia v Portugal game......
Could be the first game since Holland v Argentina 2014 World Cup Semi-Final that I fall asleep to unless something happens.
Can't see this game not going to penalties.
It's as if they are playing for a penalty shoot-out.
Well they didn't in the end and Portugal go through with the only shot on target. Feel sorry for Croatia though had two chances at the end.
So unlucky for Croatia after hitting the woodwork, and Portugal scored on the rebound. Croatia were really going for it at the end. I must admit the first 90 mins was pretty dull though. Not sure if Poland can beat Portugal but should give them a good game.
Flukey goal for Portugal. Get this horrible feeling they're going to worm themselves to the final now!
That was a really dull game for two teams that should've provided much better football than that. Portugal got very, very lucky there, feel really bad for Croatia, they certainly weren't at their best today, but I feel penalties would've been a more reflective way of deciding that. Was hoping they'd be the dark horses of the competition as well after beating Spain.
Very lucky Portugal. I expect Poland to hopefully progress when they both play.
Rep. Ireland take an early lead with a penalty in the first minute *.*
France struggling so far. Can see them scoring a 90th minute equaliser.
Ireland were pretty much outplayed by the French in the second half, the French could have hammered more into the net though.
What a shame for Ireland. Hopefully we can go one better on France if we get through.
If Germany win this they play Italy or Spain, another big country to go.
Stroll in the park for Germany, as was to be expected.
An comfortable win for Germany there. Again Slovakia did have a couple of chances but didn't take them.
Easy win for Germany, but I turned off midway through the second half, it just was dull to watch. I wish it stayed 2-0 though needed those points for the predictor game, oh well another 10 points makes a total of 20pts for today.
Hopefully Hungary v Belgium should be a better game.
I do think France will slip up in the semis. Ireland gave them a scare.
I still think it be France v. Germany final unless they meet in the semi's, but I love to see an underdog team winning it like Wales or Hungary/Belgium, instead of the usual suspects. I just wish some country puts Portugal out, it just makes me think they are going all the way.
France & Germany are on the same side of the draw so are the favourites to meet in the Semi, really great chance for a lesser team to reach the final from the other half!
Germany laying down a marker today, yet to concede a goal this tournament too.
Wow we've trebled the number of goals seen today compared to last!
Still not fully convinced by Belgium despite this 2nd half spanking, flat track bullies for me.
That probably was the best match of the last 16, Hungary did have a couple of chances though. Belgium has got potential to go all the way I think, could be a repeat of the 1980 final.
Italy vs. Spain tomorrow feels like its all over for Spain, I'm utterly convinced that match will go to penalties.
Belgium do have potential to go through to the final for sure. Belgium v Wales hopefully will be a good match.
I was willing Republic Of Ireland on against France but it wasn't to be, they played well in the first half but the pressure from France was too much for them to handle. Antoine Griezmann's Hotline Bling celebration after he scored his 2nd goal made me laugh
It was an easy victory for Germany as was to be expected and I thought Hungary gave a good account of themselves but took too many long range shots. A victory for Belgium was never in doubt, looking forward to Wales vs Belgium & Germany vs Spain/Italy.
Spain are OUT, and they had so many chances in the second half, terrific second half though, but I'm still not convinced Italy can win the tournament. I hope Chelsea know what they are in for with that manager, he is a right nutter.
Winners of Germany Vs Italy in the Quarters will win the whole thing IMO, Italy doing what they do best there!
Italy to win! Or England.
Worst game of the tourno up next...
In what sense? But I mean, in terms of nerves and the fact we just had to be playing against one of the best sides of the tournament so far, yes I agree.
Does anyone have a feeling that Italy are going to win Euro 2016? they're reminding me so much of their 2006 team at the moment.
G'won Iceland, I believe in you.
Been fairly unpredictable so far, and I do think Italy could go on to win...but I reckon it'll finish up...
Semi Finals
Poland v Belgium
Italy v France
Final
Belgium v France
Don't actually want to pick a winner from that final...but, ok...France.
So no-one's expecting Wales-Iceland in the final?
Personally, I think Germany could win. I just don't think Italy and France are as good
The Icelandic commentator's reactions have become some of my favourite moments of this tournament:
v England
v Austria
Expecting this to be a close game. I think Portugal will sneak through. Hoping this is better than their last-round match with Croatia.
How did that pitch invader get onto the pitch?
Anyway looking like it could be penalties in this game.
What a dull match, as if both teams just didn't wanted to be there. At least I got 40 points tonight for a draw. Hoping for Poland winning on penalties now
Portugal are in the semi-final without winning a match in 90 minutes.
Poor Poland
Maybe this really could be Ronaldo's tournament...
Surely up there with the least deserving semi-finalists of any tournament? I've not seen them play well at all from the matches I've watched of them. Belgium had better show them up.
Its a fluke I tell you, I guess the idiot that run on the pitch wanted to slap Ronaldo I just hope Belgium will give them a good slapping.
The fan running onto the pitch was the most memorable moment of a very boring match. Portugal are competing to be runners up because the winner of the tournament will come from Germany/Italy/France I think.
Hopefully this should be a good match.
After 10 minutes Wales vs Belgium is already looking like a match of the tournament contender, both teams playing to score which is good to see.
Could easily have been 2-0 to Belgium.
Wales just need to cool down with the tackles though.
Ashley Williams. Fantastic corner.
Hard to believe Wales lost to England when they are playing out of their skin in this tournament.
Wales are heading to a semi final
I am SO made up for Wales right now! Thoroughly deserved & I genuinely think they'll be in the final
Georges Simenon, Hercule Poirot, Tin Tin, Captain Haddock, Plastic Bertrand, Brian Molko, Jean-Claude van Damme, your boys took one hell of a beating.
I hope they go all the way now. Or at least till the final, cause if they get beaten by Portugal I will be so mad
Well... that was unexpected, really thought Belgium would have trounced them, but they dominated that match and so thrilling to watch. I really think this could be the year for the underdogs, I'm now leaning towards a Wales vs. Iceland final shame Ramsay misses out playing in the semis, they needed the best team to beat Portugal.
I wouldn't be surprised at all with a Wales vs Iceland final given what 2016 has thrown us so far!
Belgium were great in places. Good to Wales though even though I don't rate them
What an amazing achievement for Wales. They are a proper team, fantastic all over the pitch.
I hope they win the whole bloody thing now.
Wow! Wales played as a team and please some club sign Robson-Kanu please. He's had a good tournament. I would make Wales slight favourites in their match against Portugal. A man I saw burst into tears with happiness after waiting 58 years for Wales to play in an international tournament.
Once again Belgium seemed to flutter to believe with their performance.
I'm happy for Wales, it was the best match I've seen so far and I think they will beat Portugal. Who would have thought that WALES would be one game away from the final of Euro 2016? it's like another Leicester City moment.
I was at a staff party last night where we had to sneak out and watch the game. It was all surreal to me because I was pretty drunk already but the atmosphere was amazing and I still can't believe it. WALES in the semi final. Who thought? It'd be great to go all the way, shame we won't have Ramsey against Portugal though.
Ramsay is a massive lose for Wales by far the best player on the pitch last night - what's the craic with yellow cards I thought they got wiped after the last 16 game?
Ben Davies will be another lose - I expect them to be favs vs Portugal - they've been so boring so far and haven't actually won a game outright - go on Wales!!
Can Germany end their tournament hoodoo with Italy tonight? As they've never beaten Italy in an major tournament.
I'm going for a draw tonight in 90 minutes, I can see this game going to penalties.
I think Italy will edge this in extra time. Could be a feisty affair here.
Good second half so much better than the first half, its a shame Boateng shoved his arms around. And 40 points there... kerching.
Having actual f***ing kittens right now.
Oh thank f*** for that.
Both United players missing though wtf was with Darmian's "beard", he needs to shave the shit out of that now.
And Muller couldn't even score a penalty anyway at least the Italians are out thank god for that.
Yay! My Buzzjack sweepstake team are still in with a shot! Still sad that it didn't get to the stage where the keepers had to take a penalty.
Was rooting for Italy, typical f****** Germans
I was dying at Zaza'a penalty, one of the worst I've ever seen, it was like a dance intro For two great teams, that penalty shootout was rather shocking, but it was probably the most tense match so far what with how closely matched they were. 'Grats to Germany though, even if I was hoping Italy would continue to defy the odds (and they were playing rather dirty at the latter half of that game).
Also in the sweepstake with my family, Italy were my last remaining team so I'm the first out (and my Buzzjack sweepstake went a long time ago) </3
Zaza's penalty made me fall to the floor with tears of laughter it was as if he was doing tap dancing or galloping towards the ball like a horse! Definitely the funniest penalty I've ever seen and I expect it to be on the trending section of YouTube by tomorrow. What made it even funnier was the fact that he was brought on as a substitute specifically to take a penalty in the shootout , when he was about to come on I was thinking to myself "Conte is bringing him on to miss a penalty in the shootout" and in the end that's what happened.
It was disappointing as a Man United fan to see two of our players miss penalties and especially to see Darmian miss the penalty that lost the match for Italy. I was developing a feeling that Italy might win Euro 2016 but after tonight I'm sticking with my pre tournament pick France.
Was so nervous for Germany watching this last night, so many times the shootout seemed like it would swing in the Italians' favour. So pleased they're through.
I did feel like that was possibly a match for the tournament though - if France don't come through. And two different finalists to last time is always good.
RIP Iceland
Oh my word, just shows how much of an embarrassment England were in this competition.
Poor brave Iceland
Iceland are getting mullered, another 4 in the second half please. Kudos to anyone that will have the correct score after full time.
Harsh on Iceland, but France are hitting form now...
If Iceland were a person, the person would be dead.
Germany vs France looks a tasty prospect now!
Iceland can still be very proud of their achievement in this tournament. Despite the current scoreline against France. Just coming up against a team that is on form in this half. I really hope that this isn't a 7-0, 8-0 scoreline as that would be harsh on Iceland.
An population of 323,000 people and they get a team of 23 to play in the Euros and reach the quarter-finals of the competition has to be considered a massive achievement.
Hazza Its not over yet
ok maybe it is over but
And now it's four needed from a header by Giroud.
Great game.
