Channel 4's latest experiment and 'real life thriller', 'Hunted' began last night. The premise of the show is that 'over the summer, 14 ordinary Brits were tasked with escaping the tracks of their electronic footprint and going off-grid. Alone or in pairs they had to give up their lives and try to evade capture from a team of expert hunters for up to 28 days.' They were tracked by '30 specialists including former and serving police and intelligence personnel, an ex-CIA agent and cyber intelligence experts.' 'Each team of fugitives was accompanied by a dedicated cameraperson so that every moment of being on the run was captured on film.'

Last night showed 3 'teams', two pairs and one guy on the run. The guy was definitely the best and I can see him going far, he seems to know what he's doing. The girls who weren't captured frustrated me so much when they kept phoning home, of course they're likely to get caught if they keep doing that! The couple who were previously on 'Prized Apart' obviously didn't do well and their reactions when they got caught were very strange, as if they were ACTUAL fugitives but I don't know if that's just how the pressure/paranoia affects you.

Watched both episodes. I really enjoyed it, but my paranoia is around how much is real, and how much is a play-up for the cameras. I'm trying my best to suspend disbelief, but it's difficult.

The doctor is the best fugitive, he's really smart, but I expect he will end up getting himself caught by doing something daft.

Gotta admit it's funny, I know it must be insanely difficult not to contact loved ones on the run, but the two Singh lads were stupid - especially after what the surveillance guy told them!!

And you were right Rooney, he did get caught by doing something daft. It's as though he gave up in the end so just went on a train!

It's interesting to see the paranoia sink well and truly in with the two girls, causing them to split up. I'm not sure if I would be able to do something like this by myself but it seems that they're actually happier to do so. I hope it hasn't put a strain on their relationship in the future.

Just watched the first 5 episodes over the past couple of days and it's a fantastic show! It reminds me of Lost, which I remember watching when I was very young (not the Lost drama series from recent years) and some of the strategies the teams in Hunted use, especially Emily and Lauren, were very reminiscent of what I remember from Lost with the hitch-hiking and sneaking on trains!

Very excited for the final program, I think at least one of the girls will manage to avoid being found - them two splitting up could actually have helped them in the long run as it's made it harder to find the pair of them!

Yes, I'm excited for the final episode! Hope that at least one of the girls manages to avoid them because, if anyone wil, it'll be them having featured in all the episodes.

Really looking forward to the last episode.

There's hoping for another series of this.

Fantastic last episode, was very nervous at the end just like if it was a real film thriller! I hadn't believed any of it was fabricated up until this point, but I do wonder if it really would take them over a day to find an airport when they already knew which county it was going to be in - a part of me thinks that the end was fabricated in order to give it a movie's happy ending!

That said, without having to go to the extraction point which the fugitives didn't seem to be aware of until the end there, all 4 would have stayed undetected for the 28 days so in a way it's fair that all four of them won and weren't caught out by the ending.

All in all a fantastic series and I'm very pleased to see that it looks like a second series is on its way judging by the "take part" advert at the end of the programme! biggrin.gif

Brilliant ending to the series this was, I have to agree with you, Ryan. Thrilling end although I think it was expected with the four of them invading capacity from the Hunters. I'd be intrigued if they did a version of this where they went worldwide although they probably don't have the budget for that.

I haven't posted in here yet, but I've been following and really liked this series and though some of the 'drama' of the last ep did feel a bit fabricated, it was still edge of your seat stuff and I was really glad that all of the remaining fugitives avoided detection, and it was actually quite interesting to see what it's like on the run with normal people in a real life setting and how difficult it really is and how the state can track your every move! (Though I groaned every time one of the fugitives used a phone, tis why Emily drove me a bit nuts!)

I would say the only flaw is some of it felt fabricated due to the fact the fugitives were in contact with a camera operator and the various people addressed knew that it was for TV perhaps lessened now believable it was, I'd have found it better if the fugitives maybe been given a single filming camera for themselves or something. I dunno how well that would work, but I do think they'd need to change it up a little bit if this is gonna get a second series so it isn't just all the same again.

Still a great show in general and one I hope is renewed!

Yes, that final episode was definitely my favourite, I was SO gripped at the end. I do agree though that it was possibly fabricated but, yes, lasting the full 28 days meant they deserved to fly off in the plane anyway.

Beyond shocked that Emily managed to go uncaptured after all the phone calls! laugh.gif
