ENTER REALITI

Public Service Broadcasting. Ready to 'blast off' with "Go!" surging 4-2 this week.

The seventh number 1 of 2015 comes from Canadian singer Grimes with “REALiTi”. She achieves her first chart-topper since 2012's “Genesis” which ended up spending 6 weeks at No. 1 and a total of 28 on the chart in total, to rank as one of the biggest hits of the 2010s so far. "REALiTi" (which vaults 6-1) last week became her 4th Top 10 hit, and is not taken from any forthcoming album, or at least initially wasn't meant to. It serves simply a 'thank you' to the fans - like another current Top 10 hit from Tame Impala; "Let It Happen", which climbs 14-9 to give the Australian psychedelic group their first ever Top 10 hit, having come close in 2012 twice with "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" (No. 12, December 2012) and "Elephant" (No. 16, October 2012). Surging into orbit are Public Service Broadcasting and the second single taken from The Race for Space "Go!". Sampling Apollo 11's notorious mission the single rises 4-2 and impressively becomes the bands seventh consecutive Top 10 hit following “Everest” (No. 1, December 2012), “Signal 30” (No. 5, April 2013), “Theme From PSB” (No. 9, July 2013), “Night Mail” (No. 7, November 2013), “Elfstedentocht Pt 2” (No. 8, June 2014) and “Gagarin” (No. 10, December 2014).

The biggest climber of the week comes from Jamie xx's collaboration with The xx singer and bandmate Romy Madley Croft. Climbing 39-22, “Loud Places” is the next single to be taken from Jamie's debut studio album In Colour which is due for release in 1st June. The track samples Idris Muhammad's “Could Heaven Ever Be Like This” and follows his two 2014 chart toppers "All Under One Roof Raving" and "Girl / Sleep Sound".

The highest debutant is the new single from Hot Chip; in at 34 “Need You Now” is taken from forthcoming sixth LP Why Make Sense? and follows recent chart topper “Huarache Lights” which dips 1-3 after 3 weeks at the top. Seven other new entries break the Top 50 this week with chart returns for 1990s bands like Blur (“Lonesome Street”, No. 39), The Prodigy (“Wild Frontier”, No. 44) and Leftfield (“Universal Everything”, No. 49).
