Is BJSC usually that friendly to drum & bass? Unless I've missed something obvious (probably) it's had pretty middling success since Ghost.

I must admit, a lot of that winner prediction is going off of it doing what Ghost did and the feeling that drum and bass has the potential to be one of the widest-reaching genres in BJSC IF a big song like that shows up, which it does only occasionally.

I have what feels like much stronger reasons to discount all of the other contenders than I do Black Church, Aeroche won't get one side of the court excited, Land Of DW won't get another, Cor Lupus and St Burbia don't feel strong enough. Maybe I'm wrong (and if I'm thinking of reasons why songs won't win before why they will that's an indication that this predicting lark is all a sham this month) but that's my gut feeling.

Being serious here, my personal opinion on it aside, I was very surprised it qualified given the track record of that sound here, and partially put that post out as a testing ground to see if I could unearth any fans to defend it. There weren't any and its plug performance didn't give me anything either, which indicates to me that it scraped through and isn't set to do particularly well, bar hordes of silent fans sitting at their computers giggling.

It's not personal, it's just scientific and if anything the extra attention will help it, which is the excuse I'm going to use if I'm wrong.

It's not necessarily even a negative descriptor. I'm voting fairly high for one song that I'm sure most would put under that definition because it does sound rather good to me.

But generally they tend to be fairly light on individuality and you could easily imagine going onto any playlist and finding a dozen songs that are very similar - and there's about 9 or 10 of them in this final. It's just hard to imagine people 18ing them, though they'll surely get low points from a wide range.

Yeah it's not necessarily bad, I do like some of them and a lot of it is in jest But I think the bad Spotify ones are probably the worst of BJSC, in that you just can't have an opinion on them. I'd rather there was something really awful that I thought was terrible, in a way, than something you just can't really form an opinion on.

I'm... seeing a lot of parallels to 94 from last year. There wasn't a clear winner and a bunch of songs were either getting late hype or got a ton but didn't live up to expectations. S DNLD will end up being the Trifoski in this case, with the other big contenders ending up a bit lower. I've seen Hushkanukia get some late hype so I feel like that will end up doing the same as "Superpowers".

the hell do i know though. we might end up getting a winner with barely any hype and I would look forward to that.

grandson feels like it SHOULD be a landslide winner tbh but I'm not sure if it'll quite make it over the top after Fjokra and twenty one pilots missed the top 10 entirely in recent-ish contests - I'm sure this will at least do a lot better than those two though, and I'd probably still call it the favourite to win. Watch it now be as big of a landslide as Niceland last month since I thought something similar about that
