18| 'PRIVATE SHOW' >> AVG. 5.21

Best Score: 9 | No Sleeep
Worst Score: -1 | Cremey

So kicking us off is the very marmite and first instant grat, 'Private Show'. It's definitely my least favourite from the album so I'm very happy that it's finished last. I think her voice is quite grating on this, much more so than on other tracks. However, I do like it. It's a bit of a bop when in the right mood. Love that it's quite soulful for her! Love that the vocals seem real and raw!

No videos available for much of the album, so I'll try and find fan made cover art to use! drama.gif

Posted by: Joe. 8th October 2016, 04:55 PM

Private Show is a lot of fun. I'm not 100% it belongs on Glory, especially so high on the album, but still...it's fun.

Posted by: Ja˙ 8th October 2016, 04:59 PM

Not the worst song on the album imo, but I'm not surprised to see it come last. I think it suffers from "acquired taste" vocals and not really fitting in with the overall sound of the album.

Posted by: Addy K!ng 8th October 2016, 05:10 PM

I expected this to go first...not the worst song but I see why it's been placed last laugh.gif

17| 'What You Need' >> AVG. 5.81

Best Score: 11 | Nick F1
Worst Score: -1 | blacksquare, London81,

Pretty much the only song I skip every time on Glory, it's similarly jarring as Private Show, but without some of its quirk (in my opinion anyway). Apart from Nick, it doesn't get much love here. People's general thoughts seem to be that most of the deluxe tracks deserved to have been on the standard edition instead of this. Everyone seems to have different likes and dislikes though, and a average of not far under 6 is fairly respectable for the song to leave second.

Posted by: Jonjo 8th October 2016, 05:24 PM

'What You Need' does what 'Private Show' tries to do, but much better imo! Definitely a lot more "fun" than PS for me, anyway! So I'm a bit sad that it's left so early, although it's 100% expected!

Posted by: Addy K!ng 8th October 2016, 05:30 PM

oh nooo...one of my faves sad.gif

I hate you all!!!

Posted by: HausofTravis 8th October 2016, 05:35 PM

BYE Private Show, was fun for like 2 listens then just turned horrendously shit.

Posted by: Jonjo 8th October 2016, 06:12 PM

16| 'Clumsy' >> AVG. 6.82

Best Score: 10 | Andr00w
Worst Score: 2 | Cremey; NoSleeep

Up next we have the 2nd instant grat from the album. 'Clumsy' received decent reviews from most people upon it's premiere, but as the album got released, it suffered from the fact that it wasn't anywhere near one of the best on the album! I think it's a good song, but I agree that the more I play it, the more it sticks out as one of the worst (although still good) on the album! Highlight of the song though still remain to be the cute little "Oops" throughout!

Posted by: Addy K!ng 8th October 2016, 06:44 PM

wow...really thought Clumsy was loved here ohmy.gif

Just Like Me next please...

Posted by: London81 9th October 2016, 08:36 AM

So pleased to see this has started. I'm not unhappy about the order so far although I'd have put hard to forget ya before clumsy and private show - hope that's the next song out. And invitation is amazing - that has better not be out for a while!

Posted by: liamk97 9th October 2016, 10:39 AM

No surprises at the moment and I'd say the songs appearing so far are ones that appear at the bottom of my album rank too, but I feel all get too much of a hard time. I actually feel like 'Private Show' and 'Clumsy' actually work as part of the album and I'd in fact go as far as to say I like their placing on the album tracking-list. 'What You Need' is a brilliant album closer, especially but not only for the "well, that was fun!" at the end of the track.

'Better' remains my least favourite on the album and is probably the one track void of any Britney personality, so I'd prefer that to be next out. I don't understand why 'Just Like Me' is disliked so much; I can handle "one of the least favourites" but some seem to genuinely not like it. I'm sure it was well-received upon album release!

Posted by: Davidson 9th October 2016, 11:23 AM

If 'Change Your Mind' doesn't at least come top 5 I'll be pissed.

Posted by: Joe. 9th October 2016, 12:27 PM

15| 'Hard To Forget You' >> AVG. 7.09

Best Score: 10 | Rob Spears, Nick F1
Worst Score: 2 | blacksquare, London81

Possibly a little low for my taste, it was one of my least favourites when I first heard it, and I still think it possibly shouldn't be more than a deluxe track, but it's gone up in my estimations a lot. I particularly love the pre-pre-chrous part ('Oh, yeah, baby you got me misbehaving, and I don't even know what is right'). However, it's not a huge loss that it's this low - I'd never put it top 10 for example, but it's the first song with a 7 average so is generally liked here!

Also contains possible Gaga references.

No Liam! Just Like Me is dull as dishwater in comparison to Better, which is full of personality and flare!

Posted by: Davidson 9th October 2016, 08:38 PM

'Hard To Forget Ya' is great.

On most of her other albums it would be a highlight but here it is around my 11th or 12th favourite so I can't really moan. So many good songs are going to have to sit at very low placings sad.gif

I agree, it has Britney stamp on it but still it's just 8/10 for me.

14| 'Just Like Me' >> AVG. 7.28

Best Score: 11 | Regina,
Worst Score: 4 | Loucaé, Cremey

I'm not one of the best people for this commentary, as I find 'Just Like Me' to be totally flat, and I'd have this right at the bottom with 'What You Need', above Private Show. On this fabulous album, 14 is still too high for this, but Regina saves it with her generous score.

Posted by: Jonjo 12th October 2016, 11:46 AM

'Just Like Me' is so stunning! I really don't get why it gets hated on so much. I mean, I'd understand comments about it being the weakest on such a strong album, but there seems to be a lot of actual hate towards it, which baffles me. laugh.gif

Posted by: Joe. 12th October 2016, 11:47 AM

I don't HATE it. It's not jarring like What You Need, I just find it offensively meh.

Posted by: Addy K!ng 12th October 2016, 02:24 PM

yes so happy to see that out.

As Joe said, i don't hate it but it just sticks out for being nothing!!!

Posted by: Jonjo 12th October 2016, 08:31 PM

Sticks out for being nothing?! sad.gif

It's such a sad, dark and emotional song and something only Britney can pull off tbh! So beautifully heartbreaking!

Posted by: Jonjo 12th October 2016, 09:02 PM

13| 'Mood Ring' >> AVG. 7.67

Best Score: 10 | blacksquare, NickF1, Cremey, Euphorique
Worst Score: 2.5 | Joe.

Up next at #14 is the sensual and smooth DJ Mustard produced jam, 'Mood Ring'. 'Mood Ring' was delegated to "Japanese Deluxe Track" only. What I want to know is... WHY!? It's genuinely single material! If you think the sensual jams like 'Breathe On Me'/'Touch Of My Hand'/'Early Mornin'' from 'In The Zone' and bring them right up to date in 2016, I'm sure this is the closest you will get! This is just an "initial impression" rate. We'll be doing another rate of this in about 6 months or so, so you have plenty of time to listen to it, in the mean time!

Posted by: Addy K!ng 12th October 2016, 09:10 PM

omg yes Mood Ring...that cover wub.gif

Thought this will end top 10 tbh.

There is nothing dark on it or emotional for me lol...the song starts and ends in one note...even chorus doesn't help it.

Listen to the deep undertone in the lyrics you heathen!!! Omg. sad.gif

Yessss for the MR love though wub.gif

Posted by: Joe. 12th October 2016, 09:44 PM

My Mood Ring score seems harsh - I want to explain that the reason I was turned off by it is because it's unfinished and I don't like that you can tell it's not Britney in parts - horrible Britney Jean memories - it annoyed me that people overrated it when she got scalpt for not finishing songs on BJ!

Posted by: Cremey 12th October 2016, 09:59 PM

Also glad to see 'Just Like Me' out, such a dud.
'Mood Ring' on the other hand is comfortably my second favourite now!

Posted by: London81 12th October 2016, 10:13 PM

I feel good about the choices so far. There are so many good songs left smile.gif Hope man on the moon and change your mind are top 3

Posted by: Ja˙ 12th October 2016, 11:29 PM

I'm glad Better is still in! #Justice4Better #TeamJoe *watch it be out next*

Posted by: JosephStyles 14th October 2016, 01:06 AM

Can't argue with these results so far really! Mood Ring would be better if it were totally finished and was entirely Britney's vocals, but seeing as it's not, I'm glad it's only a Japanese bonus track tbh.

Posted by: blacksquare 14th October 2016, 07:48 AM

Mood Ring is easily one of the best on the album.

that synth

Posted by: Euphorique 14th October 2016, 06:40 PM

Mood Ring should've been MUCH higher.

12| 'Better' >> AVG. 7.69

Best Score: 10 | Joe., Rob Spears, NickF1, Jay
Worst Score: 4 | HausofTravis

At #12 we have 'Better'! A song which really would've smashed if it was credited as Britney. Had it been tagged as DJ Snake feat. Britney Spears or something, I am 100% certain it would've been one of those songs that smashed from cherry picks so much, it'd lead itself into being pushed as a single! It really could've fit right into Justin Bieber's most recent efforts. A good song, if a bit too generic for me.

Posted by: Addy K!ng 17th October 2016, 03:47 PM

I didn't like it at all in the beginning but now I am tolerant to it...#12 seems right spot for it.

That cover though OMG wub.gif I am living for those covers Jonjo.

Posted by: Joe. 17th October 2016, 05:04 PM

Should have at least been top 10, but I'll take a score of almost 8 considering some of the hate it gets. One of my favourites <3

Posted by: ḇlackout 17th October 2016, 08:36 PM

Nice to have had my least favourites leave in an mighty hatrick. Although I think Private Show has a cute beat and great vocals during the second verse.

Mood Ring is stunning and the writer singing the ad libs doest equate the mess of Britney Jean. You can tell it isn't Britney.

Sad at how underrated Hard to Forget Ya is, such a stunning melody during all bridges. I feel the middle 8 is the most 2000s sounding Britney a post-2004 Britney song has ever sounded.

Urgh I wish life hadn't got in the way of me voting for this. So dumb. I can't..

At #11 we have this little French number ! Most of us don't really know what she is even saying. But, apparently it's a shoutout to 'Blackout', so how could you not at least be respectful? That would be like cursing Gimme More's niece. Not cool. Also, Chris. Don't blame us, blame HausofJoanne.

PS- That remix is better than the actual song.

That's right. Kicking off the top 10 for us is the massive, 'Love Me Down'. A song in which has been compared to by Margaret - Cool Me Down. I totally see those comparisons! I really do think this would've smashed if it was the first single tbh. Radio would've eaten this up and they probably should have had 'Make Me' as 4th or 5th single after 'Just Luv Me', 'Slumber Party' and maybe 'Do You Wanna Come Over?'! A big amount of people seem to love this. Rightfully so. What a bop! (and possibly in my top 3 tracks from 'Glory'!)

Worst Score: 5 | Andr00w, Chris, blacksquare

Up next and finishing in 9th place is a song I thought would've finished top 5. It seems to be a fan favourite! Well, more so than these results would suggest! It's a song I could actually see being a hit single. It's quite unique from anything that we've heard on radio for a while and it has a great amount of commercial appeal to it. Something that I think would pull in casual fans. It's very 'Alien' meets 'Trip To Your Heart' and all the better for it!

Up next is my personal favorite on the album after 'Just Luv Me', she comes alive on the chakra-aligning, tongue-twisting, Ian Kirkpatrick-produced “If I’m Dancing,” a dizzyingly fierce lovechild of M.I.A., Major Lazer, Björk’s sputtering “Triumph Of A Heart”…and maybe the refined touch of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, too. (It’s murder on the doncefloor.)

A fan favorite from the get-go (seen the memes yet?), the track plays like a twerk-happy worship session dedicated to her favorite form of therapy, and feels as thrilling as anything off of Blackout. These lyrics? “Butterfly from the bottom of the ocean“? As madcap as a Xenomania track.

“If I’m dancing, if I’m doooncing, if I’m doooncing…I know the music’s good,” she moans in her Britishney accent. Didja get that? How couldn't we? This is Britney at her best.

Best Score: 11 | John-James, Euphorique
Worst Score: 6.5 | Regina

Britney’s never had a PROPER album opener (Unless 'Gimme More' counts, because that opening line can't be beat). Within just the first few seconds of “Invitation,” an ethereal cross between Janet Jackson and Enya, it’s obvious that Glory is more sophisticated than anything she’s ever done before.

“Here’s my invitation, baby / Come feel my energy,” she coos in all her heavily vocoded, celestial bliss, like an angel sent down to deliver us from boring pop and bad sex. “Put your love all over me.”

As the opening implies, blindfold in hand, Glory is largely an invitation into Britney’s boudoir. Most of the lyrics could be tossed into your next eggplant emoji-filled sexting session: it’s about putting on a private show and bangin’ all over this bedroom.

I just think it would be an amazing lead to the campaign. I'd imagine the video wouldn't have been butchered as the song isn't nearly as sexual, I also think UP tempo Britney is ALWAYS the way you kick off an album.

It's also perfect for the Summertime, while 'Make Me' would have been a great follow up Fall release. Not really about the charts as much as me wanting it to get the highest of all the single treatments.

Posted by: Euphorique 31st October 2016, 12:51 PM

If I'm Dancing could work as a single, a nice twerk anthem!

Invitation is amazing, haters to the left! biggrin.gif Glad it stuck around longer than certain predictions.

Posted by: Joe. 31st October 2016, 12:55 PM

I looooooove If I'm Dancing but there's no way it'd work as a single.

Posted by: Jonjo 31st October 2016, 03:28 PM

I actually think it could tbh. Especially as I think those memes that happened would have been on a bigger level and got it more attention.

In regards to smashes, I'm over it for Britney tbh. I doubt she'll get a major hit again (unless she's a featured vocalist on someone like Calvin's single etc. ). I really don't care for whether her singles are a success anymore. She has nothing left to prove to anyone. I'm just greatful she's releasing music of this caliber again. Its kinda weird how I feel about it all tbh.

Obviously success would be nice, but it's not as important as people like to believe it is for her imo. She's literally a legend and will go down as one of the best popstars of our generation. Success is irrelevant for her, unlike it is for someone like Katy or Gaga for example who still have quite a bit to prove before becoming actual icons on the level of Madonna, Britney, Beyonce etc..

Posted by: Joe. 31st October 2016, 03:35 PM

Since she's only 34 and American radio still play her (to a point), I do think Britney can manage a moderate sized hit if it's handled correctly.

Posted by: Addy Boo! 31st October 2016, 03:37 PM

^^

pretty much all of that but I still believe she will hit the strike once again with huge album ala Cher 'Believe' in future.

Posted by: Joe. 31st October 2016, 03:43 PM

The album is amazing, I love most of the songs, but beyond the hardcore pop music fans (who have better taste then the wider general public), I don't think there are many songs on the album that would would as singles on 2016 radio. I think Slumber Party, Make Me, Just Luv Me and possibly Love Me Down would be the only ones that would get decent airplay.

Posted by: Rob Spears 31st October 2016, 07:02 PM

If the lead single had performed better (i.e a better video) then the album would have sold a lot more. Same goes for Joanne.

And just missing out on the top 5 is the next single (although it will be remixed with Tinashe added), 'Slumber Party'! A song which didn't really leave too much of an impression on first listen to me (although I still liked it), but then people seemed to be crying out for it to be the next single and getting so passionate about it, then it hit me that it actually would be a good single choice!

Thats actually a good top 5 I would had personally switched two off them to get Luv Me Down and Slumber Party in but apart from that solid top 5!

I will predict a Make Me Win

Posted by: blacksquare 5th November 2016, 03:46 PM

Liar sounds like a leaked demo from a decade ago.

Really awful compared to the other four left.

Posted by: Addy K!ng 5th November 2016, 05:17 PM

I feel Just Luv Me is the most overrated song on the album...it was nice in the beginning but it's not aging well with me at all.

Slumber Party on the other hand started of being just average to my third best after Liar and CHange Your Mind wub.gif

Posted by: Andrew. 5th November 2016, 05:30 PM

01 Change Your Mind
02 Liar
03 DYWCM
04 Just Luv Me
05 Make Me

Perfect top 5, excluding Make Me!

Posted by: London81 7th November 2016, 10:14 PM

When I first heard liar, I thought it was okay. And now it makes my ears bleed. So that's definitely number 5 for me.

4. DYWCO
3. Make me
2. Just luv me
1. Change your mind
1. Man on the moon

Kicking the top 5 off we have the European tinged, Spanish flavoured 'Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)'! Bilingualney at her absolute FINEST!! Such a great pop song! It truly packs a punch or two and was as instant as instant mash! It truly is a brilliant song, worthy of being a single, imo. It'd definitely get people talking about how different it is for her!

Posted by: London81 11th November 2016, 06:10 PM

Much too low for this song. Absolutely love it and I agree it would have made a great single.

No.

Just Luv Me is her best song since 'Gimme More'.

Posted by: Nick F1 12th November 2016, 09:28 AM

definitely single worth.

Posted by: Davidson 12th November 2016, 11:19 AM

Rate cancelled since 'Change Your Mind' isn't top.

Best thing she's ever put her name to.

04| 'Make Me' (feat. G-Eazy) >> AVG. 9.086

Best Score: 11 | Joe, Jay, HausofTravis
Worst Score: 5 | Chris

So at #4 we have the lead single, 'Make Me'. Everything pointed towards this song becoming an actual mega hit. It seemed to get a better response than most other Britney singles of recent times, it had a certain credibility to it, a relevant feature and a lot of promo! The label wanted this to be huge and deservedly so too. They did everything they could, including everything with Spotify and giving it advertisements. The VIDEO however. Holy crap did that ruin the momentum of just about everything?? It really didn't help that the original video leaked pretty much soon after/just before so it made everyone realise just how poor the real video is.

The song is still a sensual jam though and has gone on to become one of my fave lead singles. I'd probably rank it 3rd overall tbh!

Posted by: Tyler 18th November 2016, 06:21 AM

Lovely song. Probably would scrape my top 5 leads from her.

Posted by: Joe. 18th November 2016, 09:12 AM

Make Me came on shuffle the other day and I was reminded how amazing it was.

Posted by: Addy K!ng 18th November 2016, 03:06 PM

Make Me wub.gif

JLM needs to go now please.

Posted by: Jonjo 18th November 2016, 04:29 PM

So the top 3 are (alphabetical order):

Do You Wanna Come Over
Just Luv Me
Liar

Which song will win?

Posted by: Addy K!ng 18th November 2016, 04:45 PM

Liar please wub.gif

Posted by: London81 18th November 2016, 05:48 PM

Can't believe Liar is so high wtf - its like some dated 90s throwback. Whose votes??!! Out of those left, Jus luv me for the win.

Also, I still think make me was a great song. Looking at how much the video for slumber party has made me like it even more, I wonder what could have been for make me without the crap video.

Posted by: Joe. 18th November 2016, 06:54 PM

Liar is GOOD, but top 3 of Glory it is not. It's a fun throwback feel, but nothing more.

Posted by: Jonjo 18th November 2016, 07:19 PM

Liar is amazing and it most certainly is worthy of top 3, you heathens! (Except for my bae, Addy!)

Posted by: 152chris 18th November 2016, 08:14 PM

liar to win

Posted by: Nick F1 18th November 2016, 10:44 PM

non of those three deserves top 3

Posted by: Cremey 18th November 2016, 10:46 PM

Just Luv Me to win. The other two are good but overrated.
Slumber Party / Change Your Mind would be the rest of my top 3!

Posted by: Addy K!ng 19th November 2016, 05:46 AM

I am positive that Slumber Party will probably win in next round of Glory rate!!

Posted by: Tyler 20th November 2016, 01:37 AM

DYWCO is not even in my top half of the album.

Just Luv Me to win.

My top 5:

1. Just Luv Me
2. If I'm Dancing
3. Man On The Moon
4. Make Me
5. Slumber Party

Posted by: Kye 20th November 2016, 01:40 AM

DYWCO is top 3? GTFO. Scrap this rate and start AGAIN.

Posted by: Rob Spears 20th November 2016, 09:09 AM

DYWCO FTW!

Posted by: Jonjo 20th November 2016, 12:34 PM

This is just an initial rate! These are the scores everyone gave quite fresh into the albums release, with the purpose of us doing it again sometime next year and seeing how much of a difference our opinions change!

Also, why the sudden hate for DYWCO?

Posted by: Joe. 20th November 2016, 12:35 PM

Yeah, DYWCO is probably lower half of the album for me too.

Posted by: mr_pmt 20th November 2016, 01:20 PM

DYWCO is by FAR the best. ohmy.gif

03| 'Liar' >> AVG. 9.3

Best Score: 11 | Chris, Jonjo, Rob Spears, Addy K!ng, Lotti, Liamk97
Worst Score: 5 | blacksquare

At number 3 we have my personal favourite from the album, 'Liar'. A LOT of conspiracy theories out there about this song being about Justin Timberlake, but I'm not so sure, especially as it wasn't even co-written by the Lady herself. But that's the beauty of this, it's open to interpretation. It's a real THROWBACK to early 2000'sney, in it's production and delivery! Such an anthemic, powerful and just all out banger of a break up song! Single worthy? Ofc, but only in a 4th/5th single sort of way. 'Slumber Party' and 'Just Luv Me' (possibly 'Do You Wanna Come Over?' too) NEED single treatments first (and we have SP as a single now). Alot of people also think this song has a lot of western pop inspiration too and I can see that!

Posted by: Addy K!ng 20th November 2016, 03:38 PM

Seriously her best work on the album wub.gif

And now with remaining two I want DYWTCO? to win...the success of Just Luv Me in here makes me hate it even more ala Break The Ice laugh.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt 20th November 2016, 05:12 PM

The remaining two are two of my favourites, so I'm satisfied enough with that.

Posted by: Andrew. 20th November 2016, 05:24 PM

Both are amazing but Just Luv Me is one of her best ever songs wub.gif

Posted by: Euphorique 20th November 2016, 08:21 PM

And here we are. Your runner up for the 2016 'Glory' rate is 'Just Luv Me'. This song is quite possibly, the most sincerest and honest vocals Brit has ever done, imo. Her voice in this song is just sensational! The desire and ache in her voice really come to the front and center in this song. "Ask for pieces of my body" she sings as she goes into "until all of it is yours". DEEPNEY. RAWNEY. The TRUE Britney Jean. Production wise, it's the most relevant on the album. The song could've easily been a leftover from either of Justin Bieber's or Selena's latest albums! Absolutely stellar song that just isn't getting old. wub.gif

01| 'Do You Wanna Come Over?' >> AVG. 9.46

Best Score: 11 | Liam, JosephStyles, HarryEzra

HERE IS THE WINNER. 2nd Instant Grat from the album and probably the most instant song on the album, 'Do You Wanna Come Over?'. This gives me major 'In The Zone' meets 'Femme Fatale' vibes and is completely Britney. I have a feeling that the next time we revisit this rate, we will have a different winner, but for what it is worth, I do think this is representative of the time we did the rate! It's such a JAM and a half. Fully deserves to be a single at some point in the campaign!

It was a blast and don't forget, the purpose of this particular rate was to get initial reactions and rates to the 'Glory' album. Just so we can see how much our opinions differ in the future and whether things manage to with stand the test of time and whether people find new songs that they're loving etc... biggrin.gif

Posted by: Joe. 25th November 2016, 02:19 PM

DYWCO is not in my top 5, it's around 8ish for me, I find it a bit overrated and would have loved Just Luv Me to win.

Posted by: London81 25th November 2016, 05:01 PM

I can see why this won - there was a lot of hype around it when it was released as an instant grat and even more so when it was rumoured to be a single. It's a good enough song but there are so many better ones for me on the album.
