Tom Odell
If You Wanna Love Somebody
Jubilee Road | 2018

1st Single
Released: 15th June 2018
Label: Sony Music Entertainment UK

Video

Biography

Born in the West Sussex town of Chichester, British singer/songwriter Tom Odell spent his formative years studying at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. Raised on a steady diet of Elton John, Leonard Cohen, and Bob Dylan, Odell's songs are emotional, raw, and hushed affairs that have drawn comparisons to Jeff Buckley. In 2012, after landing a record deal with Columbia Records, the then-21-year-old released his debut EP, Songs from Another Love, made his television debut on Later... with Jools Holland, and was nominated for and won in the Critics' Choice category of that year's BRIT Awards. He released his first full-length studio album, Long Way Down, in 2013. The platinum-selling album was a huge success, having gone straight in at number one on the U.K. charts, and Odell spent much of the following couple of years touring the material relentlessly, supporting huge names such as Elton John, Billy Joel, and the Rolling Stones along the way. Odell soon sought refuge from the limelight, and found it in the shape of a small apartment in New York's East Village. It was here that he found the time to begin working on his follow-up, 2016's Wrong Crowd. After a European tour in 2014, and after scooping an Ivor Novello award for Songwriter of the Year, Odell again relocated, this time to Los Angeles. Here the album began to take shape with the help of producer Jim Abbiss, best known for his work with Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, and Adele, among others. Ever the avid film buff, Wrong Crowd was accompanied by a collection of films that followed the narrative of the album. Scripted by Odell and with the help of director George Belfield, the films explored themes of isolation and innocence, having drawn inspiration from the greats such as Wenders, Malick, and Fellini during his time spent under the radar in New York. - iTunes

Troye Sivan featuring Ariana Grande
Dance To This
Bloom | 2018

3rd Single
Released: 13th June 2018
Label: EMI Music Australia

Video

Biography

Australia-based singer and actor Troye Sivan makes lyrical ambient electronic dance-pop. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1995, Sivan moved to Perth, Australia with his family when he was two years old. Home-schooled, Sivan began singing and acting at a young age, but his biggest break came when he appeared as a young Wolverine in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. A year later, he appeared in the South African film Spud. Starting in 2007, Sivan began making videos of himself singing, and uploaded them to various social media sites, eventually garnering over two million subscribers. Concurrent to his videos, Sivan also released two independently produced EPs: 2007's Dare to Dream and 2012's June Haverly. In 2013, he signed a recording contract with EMI Australia, and one year later released his third EP, TRXYE. The album hit the Top Ten in Canada, New Zealand, and the U.S. In 2015, Sivan returned with his fourth EP, WILD, which he described as an "opening installment" of the music he planned to release in the subsequent months. WILD included a pair of feature appearances (New Zealand's Broods, Australian rapper Tkay Maidza), and a trilogy of videos accompanied the album. His debut album, Blue Neighbourhood, was released in late 2015. In addition to the guests who appeared on his WILD EP, his full-length was also graced by Betty Who, Australian rapper Allday, and Blue Neighbourhood producer Alex Hope. The album peaked in the Top Ten in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States and was re-released as a deluxe edition that featured Alessia Cara on the single "Wild." In 2016, Blue Neighbourhood (The Remixes) was issued. The collection featured reimaginings by producers like Filous, Shift K3Y, and RAC, as well as acoustic and live versions of "Youth," "Wild," and "Happy Little Pill." After touring behind his debut, he returned to the studio to record a follow-up. In early 2018, he issued the single "My My My!" - iTunes

Does anyone have any idea where XXXTENTACION will chart? I'm slightly worried he'll end up in the Top 10.

Also why are they playing Jackie Chan now when it's incredibly likely they'll be playing it again in the next 10 minutes tongue.gif

Biography

Banx & Ranx
Montreal-based production duo Banx & Ranx formed in 2014, made up of studio mavens KNY Factory and Soke. The two producers craft a sound that blends reggae and other Caribbean influences into a decidedly more club-ready style, focusing their early output on electronic reworkings of classic tracks by iconic reggae artists like Bob Marley, Sizzla, and Capelton. It wouldn't be until the 2017 release of their single "LIT" that the duo would offer up original music, taking the trap-inflected rhythmic touches they'd been adding to other artists' reggae tracks to a new level. Banx & Ranx continued with steady studio work, doing remixes and production for Gorillaz, Sean Paul, David Guetta, and more before the 2018 release of their original single "Answerphone." - iTunes

Ella Eyre
By the age of 19, the powerfully voiced, BRIT School-educated Ella Eyre had already been featured on a U.K. number one single. "Waiting All Night" combined an intense performance from Eyre with the inventive production skills of fellow Londoners Rudimental. Issued to coincide with the drum'n'bass act's debut album Home -- also an instant number one record -- the success of both releases was reinforced by Eyre's involvement in a spring 2013 Rudimental U.K. tour. While "Waiting All Night" wasn't her first appearance on record, it significantly raised Eyre's profile and also helped to vindicate Universal's decision to sign her to their newly established Virgin EMI label. Those who were in anticipation of her debut solo material in the meantime sought out Other People's Heartache, Pt. 2, a 2012 download-only mixtape by rising London alt rock act Bastille that featured Eyre on two tracks: "No Angels" and "Free."

Her own singles soon began to hit the charts, including 2013's "Deeper" and a pair of Top 20 hits in 2014, "If I Go" and "Comeback." By the end of the year, Eyre had finished work on her debut full-length Feline, featuring an array of producers (Ilya, DJ Fresh, Sigma, Sigala). The album appeared in February 2015, peaking at number four in the British chart; soon after, the single "Together" became her third Top 20 hit in less than a year. A 2017 collaborative single with Sigala called "Came Here for Love" arrived in early 2017, reaching number six on the U.K. charts. It was followed later that year by the single "Ego," which featured Ty Dolla $ign. Also in 2017, Eyre participated on the Artists for Grenfell charity recording of "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

A pop singer/songwriter who broke records with his debut single, Shawn Mendes was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After posting a series of his cover versions to various video-sharing sites, Mendes earned a dedicated following of viewers. His mix of Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's styles also appealed to Island Records, who signed Mendes in 2014. That same year they released the then-15-year-old's debut single, "Life of the Party." American radio initially ignored it, but the track entered the Billboard 100 singles chart at number 24, making Mendes the youngest artist to land a debut single in the Top 25. The song was also included on Mendes' four-track Island debut, The Shawn Mendes EP. The EP performed well, reaching number five on the Billboard charts on its way toward sales of over 100,000, setting the stage for his full-length debut, 2015's Handwritten.

Preceded by the single "Something Big," Handwritten appeared to strong sales, debuting at number one in both Canada and the U.S. The single "Stitches," which was released that April, became one of Mendes' biggest hits, reaching the Top Ten in the U.S. and Canada and topping the charts in the U.K. and Germany. In addition, his single "Believe" landed on the soundtrack for the Disney Channel fantasy musical Descendants. While opening for Taylor Swift on the North American dates of her 1989 World Tour, Mendes and Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello collaborated on the song "I Know What You Did Last Summer," which appeared on the deluxe version of Handwritten that was released in November 2015; the song reached the Top 20 on the U.S. and Canadian Hot 100 charts.

The Top Ten single "Treat You Better" preceded Mendes' second album, Illuminate, which was recorded in upstate New York and arrived in September 2016. Illuminate, which featured co-songwriting contributions from Teddy Geiger and Scott Harris, debuted at number one in the U.S. and Canada, where it also achieved platinum status. It was quickly followed in December by the digital-only Live at Madison Square Garden. Mendes launched a massive world tour in the spring of 2017 and notched another Top Ten single in "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back." Around this time, he also delivered the live acoustic session MTV Unplugged.
