The thread about movie scenes got me all inspired. What characters in films do you rate above all others? Who are the ones that you just adore? It could be down to who plays them, their personalities, their actions, anything.

For me, #1 has to be Gale Weathers from the Scream films.

Everyone here knows I love me some Courteney Cox, so when I first watched these films she was always gonna rank highly for me. I can't imagine anyone else playing Gale tbh. I was so used to seeing Courteney as Monica Geller or Jules Cobb, aka, funny and nice, so to see her as a ruthless and sometimes heartless bitch was a shock laugh.gif Gale just goes for
what she wants and will do anything to do it. She basically butted her way into the action in the first movie and as a result got herself in danger, but she kinda saved the day by shooting Billy ("Guess I remembered the safety that time you bast*rd" is an iconic line) In the second one she comes off as more human mainly due to her being a real target this time and in the 3rd one she is like Velma from Scooby Doo solving the mystery. The 4th Scream is pretty naff but her character is back to full bitch in it, also, it's the first time she actually gets stabbed, another iconic chase scene there. There were alot of deleted scenes with her from that movie which has the killer play more games with her prior to the stabbing. Also cutting her "Go ahead if you've got the guts" line was a mistake.
Seeing her relationship with Dewey evolve is pretty sweet and so is the one with Sindey, they go from really hating eachother to actually being friends and having trust and respect for eachother. Special mention to the comic duo of Gale and Jennifer in Scream 3 laugh.gif

Gale is such a great character. It helps that Cox played her perfectly. Other picks are:

Sydney Prescott (Scream)
Freddy Krueger (Elm Street)
The Bride (Kill Bill)
Elle Driver (Kill Bill)
Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)
Terry Doolittle (Jumpin Jack Flash)
Deloris Van Cartier (Sister Act)
Annie Wilkes (Misery)
Beetlejuice

All great characters, but also some because they were played perfectly. No doubt I'll think of loads more.
