HEAT 03

Hello and welcome to the HEAT OF DEATH. Latvia had SUCH a fantastic run of entries so it's going to be impossibly hard for us Eurogays to choose which of Cake to Bake, Probka and I Wanna to let through to the Semifinals. Even MORE blood will be drawn when casting the votes for SLOVAKIA. How am I EVER going to rank Max Jason Mai, TWiiNS and Marcel!? And WORST OF ALL we have the last winners of Eurovision, Austria, here! Trackshittaz, Rounder Girls, Eric Papilaya and Tie Break all in one selection! CRAZAY.

Oh and there's also Sweden.


So buckle up. AT LEAST one of Loreen, Charlotte and Sanna will not go through! *.*

You must use the traditional Eurovision voting system (12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point). If a country had less than 10 participations between 1995 and 2004 then you must rank ALL of their entries but still use the same voting system described earlier. For example, if a country has only 7 entries then your votes will be 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4 points.

How did I never realise just quite how awful Latvia are? When Anmary and Pirates Of The Sea are pretty much their most enjoyable entries it's not exactly a good sign.

I'm banned then! But those two, Euphoria and Den Vilda are basically untouchable and four of the greatest songs of all time, let alone Swedish Eurovision entries.

It PAINS me to have given one of those 7 considering the songs I dished out top marks to in Slovakia and Latvia.

Agreed. Latvia really are the most bipolar of Eurovision nations. My Star/Hello From Mars/Cake To Bake seem like the lone bastions in a sea of utter dreck.

I have a real soft spot for Latvia. My Star and Hello From Mars are genuinely great songs! And lots of the rest isn't ALL bad (although some certainly is).

I also have a love for Slovakia and I hope they return soon but let's not go into that.

So turns out Slovakia is another country that has quite a strong back catalogue with only 6 entries! TWiiNS aside (I like to pretend that OTTER SHIT never happened) the songs are very pleasant and classy! The 1996 and 1998 ones are especially fab although I always had a soft spot for Let' Tmou.

The Austrian ones were really a slog, there are only a couple I enjoy. Latvia though, they're brilliant, I have 11 songs I want to vote for there, my top 3 is amazing, and they really have a knack for sending a fabulous male-vocalled entry (more of that please).

Again, this was quite expected. Nadine was very well received by Buzzjack and Conchita... well... won last year and is a drag queen. Now sissy that walk into the FINAL CONCHI *.*

We've already had qualifiers from 13 years with 17 Semifinalists announced! That is quite diverse indeed *.*

The two qualifiers had 241 points between them (Conchita + Nadine were 232), just so you know what we're dealing with~

Yet another rather obvious pairing. Both are considered utterly ikonec and ultimately female on Buzzjack so really Popular or La Voix didn't stand a chance. You would actually think Undo could challenge the Top 2 due to being fresh and... well... SANNA ( *.* ) but it seems it didn't since she was more than 30 points away from 2nd place.

And now for the most exciting results! A THREE WAY TIE FOR SECOND PLACE *.* One song got more 12s (this is how we determine shit here, not by number of votes btw. if that was the case, Aisha would've gone through) so it got through just on those! ALL THAT 69ing <3 And Beautiful Song didn't advance. FABULOUS. All FANZ can now blame it on AlexRange but then again he doesn't vote in anything where he can't express his HATRED in numeric form so it was a pointless exercise thinking he WOULD vote anyway.

Oh well, now we have THREE qualifiers from year 2008 (which I incidentally rewatched last week *.* ). No doubt more songs from that fabulous year are yet to come but we shall see later.

Oh HURRAY at those results for Latvia, can't believe we were so close to having that awful Musiqq rubbish getting through at the expense of (presumably) Wolves Of The Sea, which is super iconic and things. Quite surprised and pleased that the females didn't qualify at the expense of those two but that is so close and yet so far for Aisha haha.

Haha YES. I'd have been more surprised if they hadn't covered it to be honest, seeing as pirates are their reason for existence and all.

Every year Latvia continue to not qualify makes it better and more poignant for me, for such a silly song it's remarkably epic.

Correct two qualifiers from Austria Both great songs, but I love Natalia and against my better judgement Trackshittaz! Of course Euphoria had to go through, my fave Eurovision song ever <3 I'd have slightly preferred Undo to Hero but Hero is a solid 11/10 as well. I can't say I was too fussed anyway on Latvia, Anmary is the only one I really and I knew she wasn't going through.
