Inspired by Mack's and Last Dreamer's threads, I'll be making my own list of songs that would've been hits on my personal charts had I started my personal charts earlier (or been born earlier).

Will be doing it every Thursday with at least 3-5 songs.

It features all artists, from the well-known ones like Linkin Park and Westlife laugh.gif , to the lesser-known ones like Wali and Nicky Romero.

I’ll start with 3 female pop songs because this is Buzzjack. laugh.gif

Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles
Released: 2002

A song that peaked at #6 in UK and was a part of my and my brother’s Facebook gaming playlist. Of course, it’s also iconic for the Terry Crews scene.

Reza Artamevia - Berharap Tak Berpisah
Released: 2002

Wonder what would be the most Kylie-esque Indonesian song? In my opinion, this would be the answer. It was released way before I could walk, but then gained a resurgence in 2019. I was a part of those people who knew the song 17 years later.

Lenka - Trouble is a Friend
Released: 2009

Some people might know it as Uhsting’s PFSC winning song, but some like me already loved it years ago. My younger-self didn't want to move to the next song until this got played at least 5-10x. It wasn’t even charting in her country, but I guarantee every Indonesian knows this song.

Was never keen on 'A Thousand Miles' for a long time as something about her voice irritated me for whatever reason but I can happily say that White Chicks led me to appreciate and grow to like the song more in recent times. Terry Crews scene is iconic lol.

'Trouble Is A Friend' is a fun track too. I only really remembered 'The Show' the most of course as it was her sole hit.

Thanks for the comment a month ago! happy.gif
After weeks full of college schedules, I’m finally back doing this, at least for a week. laugh.gif

Keane ft. K’naan - Stop For A Minute
Released: 2010

It debuted at #40 in Official Charts and only spent a week in the Top 40. It was also the only charting song from Keane from their Night Train EP. However, it was my 2nd well-known song from both the East Sussex band and the Somali-Canadian singer, as it also got featured on my childhood game Pro Evolution Soccer 2011.

JAY-Z ft. Rihanna, Kanye West - Run This Town
Released: 2009

Another hit that I discovered through a video game, which was NBA 2K13. It debuted straight at #1, beating Sugababes! ohmy.gif The song, however, only spent 15 weeks on the charts (9 weeks on Top 40).

Barthezz - On The Move
Released: 2001

On The Move might probably be one of the most ‘Dutch’ dance songs ever, as it was played a lot of times on both Tomorrowland and Amsterdam Dance Event. The song has sampled many times by other producers, such as big producers like Lucas & Steve, LIZOT and Danny L Harle (as DJ Danny). It peaked at #18.

Arash ft. Helena - Broken Angel
Released: 2010

Although it has been watched over 400 million times on YouTube, this song by Iranian singer Arash and Swedish singer Helena didn’t perform well at all in the European charts, including a NC in the UK, but Asians seem to disagree as it is heavily popular there, including here in Indonesia.

Arash's English version isn't available on streaming platforms here, but it might be available in Europe idk.

Madcon ft. Ray Dalton - Don’t Worry
Released: 2015

Now I’m quite questioning how Don’t Worry was so underperforming in Official Charts when it peaked at Top 10 in several European countries. It peaked at #54 and only spent a week on the charts. This is surprisingly the Norwegian duo's most streamed song now on Spotify.

Honestly, I didn't know anything of Sugababes back then, but I felt like I've ever heard that song before on TV laugh.gif (which is not because of the sample).

If I were there that time, I'd easily stan for Run This Town as well. biggrin.gif

Simple Plan ft. Natasha Bedingfield - Jet Lag
Released: 2011

Following the virality of Unwritten, here’s the Natasha Bedingfield song that I already knew, which was her collaboration with Simple Plan. It was mostly because of the version that featured Indonesian rock band Kotak.

The Ting Tings - Great DJ
Released: 2007 (2008 re-release)

Originally released with That’s Not My Name and were uncharted, its re-release managed to peak at #33. The song was quite iconic for one for the soundtrack of a New Zealand isotonic drink commercial in Indonesia. Great DJ was also featured in the ‘00s game Shaun White Snowboarding.

Maroon 5 - Daylight
Released: 2012

Despite peaking at #7 in the US, the third single for Overexposed wasn’t exposed really well in the UK, I guess, only peaking at #63. I actually prefer this to Payphone and One More Night. I never knew this song actually contained an MV…

Ikimonogakari - Blue Bird
Released: 2008

Taken from my recent noms for 30DS challenge, which was the song that made me nostalgic. Blue Bird indeed made me nostalgic when I heard it on TV 4 years following its release. It was also one of the most iconic anime soundtracks in Southeast Asia. Ikimonogakari was first sent to the forum contest at PFSC with SAKURA / Shakura.

Cash Cash ft. Christina Perri - Hero
Released: 2015

Okay, this might be charting in my 2021 weekly charts, but it would’ve also been charting in my 2017 chart. This is one of the songs we Asian called the JOOX era (JOOX was a streaming platform that was popular in Asia before Spotify took over in 2018).

Hero was an album track from Cash Cash’s album Blood, Sweat & 3 Years, where Millionaire and Take Me Home became chart hits. Nobody expected that Christina would sing in an EDM song, and neither did I.

'One More Night' is my fave from that era for Maroon 5 but both that and 'Daylight' are far superior to 'Payphone' which is only just fine for me.

Great DJ is their best song. Their 2 top 10s were good at the time but have aged poorly imo.

Daylight is very meh for me, loved both Payphone and One More Night.

d’Masiv - Cinta Ini Membunuhku
Released: 2008

It is a pretty well-known song in Indonesia and I used to put it on repeat before I started understanding English. Meaning This Love’s Killing Me / This Love Kills Me literally, the song recently gained some popular attractions at several EDM festivals around Southeast Asia. One of Asia's biggest DJ WUKONG (also a Club Bizzare entry artist) made a great unofficial remix of it.

P*rn Kings vs. Flip & Fill ft. 740 Boyz - Shake Ya Shimmy
Released: 2003

Yesterday, my mind suddenly reminded me of this 'Shimmy Shimmy chant' from a horrible x cheap hardstyle remix by Da Tweekaz & Code Black. I knew either the original or someone else’s remake somehow made it to the Top 40, and this is where they brought me. This version was better, anyhow.

Wonder Girls - Nobody
Released: 2008 (US release: 2009)

If you think BTS was the first K-Pop group to enter Billboard Hot 100, y’got it all wrong! 15 years ago, a girl group from the 2nd K-Pop generation Wonder Girls released this song and made THE history. Its chorus chants and clapping hands were all nostalgic and it was a guilty pleasure for me, as K-Pop wasn’t really a common thing back then.

James Blunt - You’re Beautiful
Released: 2005

A both UK #1 and US #1, and an old discovery from my dad’s old CD/DVD. At first I thought it was an ‘80s/’90s song as it was in the same folder as Hearts - Alone. I didn’t realize either this is the same James Blunt who sang OK on Robin Schulz’s 2017 release.

Timbaland presents OneRepublic - Apologize
Released: 2007

Here’s a flashback from OneRepublic’s debut single that peaked at #3, following their return to top 40 with an infamous interpolation of Dragostea din Tei with David Guetta, and also a celebration for their first (mid) theme song of an anime.

Love You're Beautiful but have never liked Apologise, with or without Timbaland's input.

This week's TBT is going to celebrate A State of Trance's 2nd edition of Top 1000 (ASOT's Record of the Decade). This week features 5 trance classics appearing in the latest edition of ASOT Top 1000, including some tracks that also got sent to BJSC / CB:

RAM - RAMsterdam (Jorn van Deynhoven Remix)
Released: 2009

The newest number one of ASOT 1000 is an instrumental remix that always gives Armin and trance fans goosebumps and emotions. It was also sent to the Masquerade Spin-off, signaling that Masquerade needs to return ASAP.

Armin van Buuren - Coming Home
Released: 2010

An instrumental track that appeared in Armin’s 2010 album Mirage (the album that featured the SEB collab). It’s pretty much a discovery from the countdown show. The electric guitar riffs here sounded really cool. Its live version finished at 14th in WhoOdyssey’s guitar-themed Club Bizzare.

Armin’s highest song in this Top 1000 edition was the Part 3 of his 2000 hit Communication. Shivers, which was the last edition’s number one, only finished at 5th.

Gareth Emery, STANDERWICK ft. HALIENE - Saving Light
Released: 2017

ASOT’s Tune of The Year 2017 dropped several positions from its first edition. It was also a BJSC winner, where it beat one of Buzzjack’s favorite indie pop band MUNA.

Darren Porter - Terraforming
Released: 2013

Another song that I discovered through the Top 1000 countdown. Darren Porter is better known for his remix of Sean Tyas song that was sent to BJSC.

Cosmic Gate - Exploration of Space
Released: 2001

The song finished at number 8 in the countdown. It also became the German duo’s first Top 40 entry, where it peaked at #29.
