Yes it should be on totp on BBC 4 in the next two weeks, love the housemartins track - would have been a much better no1 at Xmas than Reel Petite - 1986 was a random crap Xmas chart year for the 80s The Xmas chart was kind of flat that year, but there are still classics from Europe, Madonna, The housemartins, Erasure. Here's the top 10 in sales: WK Ending: 27 December 1986 PO: LW: 1. (2) Jackie Wilson... Reet Petite... 122,000 2. (1) The Housemartins... Caravan of love... 108,000 3. (3) Europe... The final countdown... 54,000 4. (4) Madonna... Open your heart... 44,000 5. (5) Erasure... Sometimes... 42,000 6. (6) Oran 'Juice' Jones... The rain... 38,000 7. (10) A-ha... Cry Wolf... 38,000 8. (12) Alison Moyet... Is this love?... 37,000 9. (7) Gregory Abbott... Shake you down... 37,000 10. (9) Bon Jovi... Livin' on a prayer... 34,000 This post has been edited by Danny89: 24th December 2018, 02:17 PM |

I wonder how they will be deal with Jive Bunny's "Let's Party" from 1989. It was Xmas No.2 after being No.1 for a week. Band Aid 2 dethroned it. Gary Glitter's "Another rock and roll Christmas" features in the song I think. Yes it does but they just won't play it. They haven't said they'll play them all and I think they'll go for ones that never made No.1. Pick Of The Pops just avoids charts where Let's Party is near the top. Role on 1987!! Might have to listen to this later in the week!! |

Can’t wait for him to play Teletubbies, Chef and One True Voice :’) I’d be amazed if he did!
There’s no way he’ll ignore Gordon Haskell though surely? That song was THE song of Radio 2 at the time. |

Can't see him playing Teletubbies in a million years! lol. Yep Radio Two virtually made that Haskell song a hit. Think Wogan played it first. This just reminds me of how much I have missed listening to Mark Goodier. He’s doing the breakfast show for the whole week from January 7th!
OH GOSH NO Father & Son switch it off |

For the most part, Ronan Keating is probably my least favourite musician of all time. Even Westlife's back catalogue isn't as appallingly bad as his.
At least he has When You Say Nothing At All, that's a gem. |

Check out Cat Stevens original of Father To Son if you haven't already. Far better version.
