Something I really don’t need but certainly want lol. I’m wondering what to get because it’s not just a sheet of stamps. Judging by other things available on Royal Mail there’s books, postcards, presentation pack…

Yep there will be lots of extra things not just the stamps.

I wont go mad, a set of the 10 stamps in a nice booklet, mini set of 4 stamps and hopefully a postcard and envelopes.

Are they working with the UK government or something for this upcoming anniversary? Spice up your life on Doctor Who (BBC) and the new year firework thing, now the Royal stamps...

Wouldnt be the first time, since they partnered with Tony Blair's government back in 1997 to push the Cool Britannia focus of his campaigns across the world, and have consistently worked with the royals over the years both as a group and as individuals.

There is also a big Exhibition of Spice Girls music in Liverpool happening soon (I think February) as part of the British Music Experience, which is a massive thing for any artist in the country.

But I think this time it is only a matter of their licensing and management teams working with specific institutions to include them or their branding. Plus, the Post Office is a private entity not Government (thanks to David Cameron, that disgusting man!)

Yeah I think it is more that their team want this year to seem massive as that will sell the documentary and hopefully tour.

Nothing like having them on stamps, music used in lots of things to wet people's appetite and also show how iconic they are.

The video is cute.

I like the presentation framed one but I’m not sure where I would put it so no point spending the money on it. I think I’ll buy some envelopes and perhaps a pack of them to actually use in the post though.

Well.. isnt this interesting and iconic? I actually think this might be one of the best pieces of merch and solidifies them as cultural icons, actually! Good for them.

Also, some nice interesting things in the press releases and in the actual stamp presentation sets: it is now officially stated that they have sold 100million records globally. teresa.gif

Plus, they have provided a group quote too (see below) which is the first time the group has said anything in ages lol I think the last time was for the Lego toys.

From the Daily Mirror:

Spice Girl first class stamps released by Post Office to mark 30-year anniversary

It's the first time Royal Mail has dedicated a stamp issue to a female pop group - with 15 stamps being released to celebrate Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Melanie C, and Victoria Beckham's success

Yo, I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want... it’s a first class stamp with a Spice Girl on it, please.

That’s what Post Office staff across the land will be hearing after Royal Mail released a collection of 15 stamps to mark the Spice Girls’ 30th anniversary in 2024.

It is the first time Royal Mail has dedicated a stamp issue to a female pop group. And they are only the sixth music group to feature in a dedicated issue, following The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, The Rolling Stones in 2022 and Iron Maiden in 2023.

With more than 100 million global record sales across three decades, and nine UK No1 singles, Emma Bunton, 47, Geri Halliwell, 51, Mel B, 48, Melanie C, 49, and Victoria Beckham, 49 – aka Baby, Ginger, Scary, Sporty and Posh – are one of the most successful UK bands in music history.

Their string of hits include Wannabe, Stop, Mama and Too Much.

The main set of 10 stamps features images of the group and individual live performances from 1997 to 2012, including the 1997 BRITs and 2012 Olympics. Completing the set are a further five stamps, in a miniature sheet, from the Spice World photoshoot.

The stamps are available to pre-order from today. The group said: “When we formed the Spice Girls we couldn’t have dreamt that 30 years later we would be the first female group to be dedicated an entire stamp collection, that’s Girl Power!”

David Gold, of Royal Mail, said: “We are proud to celebrate the most successful female music group ever seen.”

I seriously can't decide what I want! drama.gif 31 different items is a bit overwhelming to go through and compare what each thing is.

From what people are saying, the Presentation Packs have the full sets of stamps, so definitely get that! I might even get that too lol

Also, this is like everywhere... Ive had so many messages from friends and family and everytime I log on I see a newstory about it... every outlet is going wild for it.

It's a good partnership, I think!

Ordered a few pieces, nothing too expensive. This is exactly, like with the Lego, the sort of merch and collab they should be doing.

This has been all over the news today. Only makes them seem more iconic and legends.

Well if they weren't cultural icons before this - now they are! Brilliant partnership. I've never collected stamps before but might make an exception for some of these.

When Universal aren't in charge quality control goes up so much. The products look great and great quality. The first social media post to launch was cute and the behind the scenes video too.

Imagine if everything was handled this well. I just hope the stamps sell well as they deserve to.

Oh the website has updated with the stamps launch as news too.
