T-Rex ‘Gold’ is a decent version of their hits. My mum was a huge fan in her youth so I’ve heard most of the albums, I’d agree with John that they were mostly a singles band. Cosmic Dancer is my favourite of their album tracks Gold is incomplete though with a couple of glaring omissions. The Essential, grey cover, is the best compilation. |

Cosmic Dancer is my favourite of their album tracks Gold is a sprawling 2 discs though. I hate having to play 2 discs with a lot of filler to get the big hits. Marc Bolan & T.Rex, The Essential with a grey cover, is the best single disc compilation. This post has been edited by common sense: 24th January 2021, 07:05 PM |

I'm not sure which you think is the best one Chris, would you care to elaborate?

I can help here: Gold is 3 CD, has all the singles from 1968-77, and a good selection of album tracks and B sides. There is no completely comprehensive collection to suit me, as some good posthumous releases like Mellow Love, Cat Black, Christmas Bop, Sunken Rags, the TV theme show Sing Me A Song, Megarex, and the 1987 remixes of Children Of The Revolution and Get It On are invariably never included, but Gold is the best I've seen. I bought two Pickwick CD collections in the 80's/90's, The Very Best Of T.Rex and Teenage Dream, before I bought all the albums, and the only tracks of note not included on Gold are To Know You Is To Love You (his duet with the missus), Midnight, The Slider, Jitterbug Love. |

I didn't realise Gold was such a sprawling collection on CD. I have the vinyl and it's only a double so must have a more focused track listing:
Disc 1 Track 1 Debora T.Rex Track 2 One Inch Rock T.Rex Track 3 Ride a White Swan T.Rex Track 4 Cosmic Dancer T.Rex Track 5 Life's a Gas T.Rex Track 6 Hot Love T.Rex Track 7 Get It On T.Rex Track 8 Jeepster T.Rex Track 9 Telegram Sam T.Rex Track 10 Metal Guru T.Rex Track 11 Children of the Revolution T.Rex Track 12 Solid Gold Easy Action T.Rex ⠀ Disc 2 Track 1 20th Century Boy T.Rex Track 2 The Groover T.Rex Track 3 Truck On (Tyke) T.Rex Track 4 Teenage Dream T.Rex Track 5 Till Dawn T.Rex Track 6 Light of Love T.Rex Track 7 New York City T.Rex Track 8 Dreamy Lady T.Rex Track 9 London Boys T.Rex Track 10 I Love to Boogie T.Rex Track 11 The Soul of My Suit T.Rex Track 12 Celebrate Summer T.Rex |
