Anything about Cheryl that doesn't need its own thread!

Cheryl will be on the Graham Norton show on June 20 (the day before the Summertime Capital Ball).

I really don't get her team's srategy, why would she do so much promotion in June when the song is out July 20?

No.

It will help pre-orders I guess so that's great biggrin.gif Hopefully it can stay top 200 before its release.

It makes sense for promo like Capital Summertime Ball, because obviously the date is not up to her, but for shows like Graham Norton, it would make more sense to go on them when the single is released. The impact is bigger when the single is aleady out rather than when it's on pre-order. People will most likely download illegaly after the show if they like it, they're not gonna wait a whole month to finally buy it.

Posted by: JosephStyles 4th June 2014, 11:51 AM

I guess it's just when she can actually get a slot booked - it might be booked up around the time the single's out maybe? I get your point though, but I guess promo a month before the release is better than no promo at all.

Posted by: THEO. 4th June 2014, 11:54 AM

The Graham Norton Show series usually end at the beginning of July. Regardless, I doubt she'll be performing the song, rather promoting her appearance at the Summertime Ball.

Posted by: Jimmie 5th June 2014, 11:17 AM

I agree about all the promo being so far before the single release. Surely, it would have been better to launch the single just after the BGT performance and then use the Graham Norton and Capital summertime ball as additional promo to prolong its chart run and sales?!

Posted by: Hayzayy 5th June 2014, 11:27 AM

The BGT performance that we still have no confirmation about... sad.gif

Cheryl performed at the Summertime Ball earlier! She did Fight For This Love, Crazy Stupid Love and Call My Name, the performances were great biggrin.gif Probably available to watch right now on the Capital website!

Erm, sorry to disappoint you but those were live vocals. It's particularly obvious during "Call my name". She doesn't do the crazy foot steps during the chorus to hold the tune. And anyway you clearly hear the difference between her vocals there and pre-recorded vocals.
For some reasons, she usually do most of her gig appearances live, and use pre-recorded vocals on TV.

Posted by: Noahspike 22nd June 2014, 11:24 AM

Why would I be disappointed by that?! I listened to 'Crazy Stupid Love' and the start of 'Call My Name' and it all sounded mimed to me. Very clear, consistent (albeit slightly flat) vocals and a lot of wide angle camera shots compared to other artists. I'm nearly sure that it was a pre-recorded track.

Posted by: Hayzayy 22nd June 2014, 11:28 AM

Well, watch it again then. It was live vocals and you can clearly hear her breathe all the way though it (and you don't hear her breath on pre-recorded tracks).
It's not even surprising considering she has always done most of her BBC Big Week-ends and Capital Balls live.

People who thing she can't sing 3 songs live at a gig really need to revise the whole lotta Girls Aloud history. smile.gif

Posted by: Noahspike 22nd June 2014, 11:36 AM

I think we'll have to agree to disagree. I'd imagine she has different 'live' tracks that she uses depending on the event if there's obvious breathing differences, as you say. By the way, I'm not doubting she can sing live. She just chooses not to a lot of the time for whatever reason and it seems this was one such time.

Posted by: Hayzayy 22nd June 2014, 11:41 AM

Lol, whatever.

I'm not hating on Cheryl but do you remember that embarassing Call My Name performance?

I'm not complaining tho, she has great stage presence and puts on a great show regardless (I wish she would sing more live tho, as I would respect her so much more then)

Posted by: Calum Hood 22nd June 2014, 12:45 PM

Just because her vocals sounded incredibly shit, dull and flat it doesn't mean she wasn't miming lol.

Posted by: JosephStyles 22nd June 2014, 12:58 PM

Calum that's not really helping - it's your opinion that her vocals were like that, not a fact.

At the end of the day, it was quite hard to tell if she was miming I thought, I was trying to work it out throughout but there were no obvious giveaways. She *could* have been miming, but she also could not have been. Regardless, she *can* sing live and she only typically mimes because of the dance routines, and no-one can deny how great a performer she is.

Anyway, this tweet: https://twitter.com/TerryFBH/status/480109918251671552/photo/1 laugh.gif

huh.gif Yes they can. Now you're stating your opinion as fact tongue.gif.

Cheryl fans (not necessarily you) often seem to think that she's top of her game with regard to dancing/performing. It's definitely her strength but she's no phenomenon and people can be underwhelmed by things other than her voice.

There is a difference between what I said and what Calum said. tongue.gif I don't think anyone here is claiming she's the best dancer ever, but she's very good at it still and ALWAYS puts on a great show.

I don't think what I said really matters? It was my opinion that her vocals were atrocious - she's just a very awful live singer (better say that's my opinion in case there's not enough clarity)... You said nobody could deny that she is a great performer when people can object if they so wish. laugh.gif

Which is basically what Noah said. laugh.gif I think you're overexaggerating - she's not a bad live singer, as proved by the countless Girls Aloud performances where she sang live. She got INTO the band in the first place based on her live performances on Popstars: The Rivals. And nowadays, she rarely even sings live, so your point is a bit silly. And she is a great performer, what's actually bad about her performance skills? She dances well, she interacts well, the whole show is there.

I don't think there was ever a problem with what Calum said. People shouldn't have to clarify that what they're saying is their opinion, as he just said. I just think it was hypocritical of you to then come in as some voice of reason, claiming nobody can deny how great a performer she is.

I think you're exaggerating this just a tad. I think there was a reasonable debate going on in here before Calum claimed she was "incredibly shit, dull and flat", hyperbole much? Plus what I said was an educated assumption, I don't think I've ever seen someone slagging off her performance skills?

I suggest we put an end to this...

That's ENOUGH - Calum if you make ONE more post on this topic, I'll be getting a global mod involved. Typical.
Now she was miming to atrocious vocals. laugh.gif Do people realize how bold such a statement is? Like if her management team - that is so precise and concerned about every little detail of her appearances - would make her pre-record a track and wouldn't even make her sound decent . Yes, sure…
At the end of the day, if her pre-recorded vocals were so shit, she wouldn't need to pre-record it then and could perform it straight away instead.

Anyway, haters gonna hate and it's been that way for about 5 years. Seems like it's some people's favorite hobby. FUN!

You must be referring to the Stand Up To Cancer performance, which everyone agrees that she was miming to during the first half of the song but they played the wrong version of the song and the vocals were missing, that's why you could only hear her whispering now and then (what artists to when they mime).
Then she realizes what's happening and you can see her getting her earplug off and after that she slows down the choreography to sing live, and she's pretty good at it. All this was confirmed by an engineer working on the production of the show.

So the performance proves :
- she was supposed to mime the song
- when she starts singing, she does a great jop.

Re: Third leg, her skirt is causing a shadow across her right thigh!

Posted by: Cameron 22nd June 2014, 03:37 PM

I think big events like that need to be live because people have payed money to go there. She can sing live, I just think people instantly think she is miming if the performance sounds decent

Posted by: Lukuzz 22nd June 2014, 07:06 PM

It sounds mimed to me tbh, I'm not an expert at detecting who is and isn't miming though, although if she is singing live she clearly has some kind of autotuned microphone thing on cause it just doesn't sound human to me laugh.gif Although saying all this, Call My Name sounds considerably more live than Fight For This Love..

It took me a while of staring at this to work it out! Her skirt is slit and the corner of it (the triangle) is covering the top of her thigh.

Apparently according to 'sources' there were only 4 people at the ceremony...
Joan (Cheryl's mum), Lily (Cheryl's PA), Jean-Bernard's mum and his best man!

I'm sure she'll have a big wedding bash to celebrate with all her other close friends and family when she's in the UK anyway.

The Radio 1 DJ posed in the star's signature pose and managed to just about hide his modesty in the tiny number.

He transformed into Miley Cyrus and recreated THAT Wrecking Ball video, and now Greg James has channelled his inner Cheryl Cole in the most hilarious way possible.

The Radio 1 DJ posed in the singer's daring gold one-piece and threw his best seductive pose in a photoshoot with Heat magazine.

It has to be our favourite photo ever.

Greg managed to lose any shred of masculinity as he put one hand on his hip and chucked his leg out to the side, and it came complete with a brunette wig.

We wonder what Cheryl would think of all this?

Radio 1’s parody king told the mag: “I think Cheryl will like it, although she’ll probably be freaked out by it.”

He added: “I enjoy dressing up as a woman, I really do. It makes me laugh, it’s daft and I don’t mind looking stupid."

“I was never that confident with my body until I got my job at Radio 1, and then I found out that it made people laugh, so now I think, 'Why Not?'" He added.

Why not indeed.

The X Factor star, 30, released Crazy Stupid Love on July 20 – her first single for two years.

The 30-year-old star told Hello! magazine: "I have the single Crazy Stupid Love, so I have to make the video for that, which involves choreography, casting the dancers, rehearsals, approving the idea, then fittings for costumes and hair and make-up, then the filming.

"The perfume launch in August and the album launch in November. I'm so busy at the moment, I'm just taking things one day at a time."

Well we have gone there, and asked the question. Who wore it best? Let us know what you think.

In the current 'Who wore it best poll?' Greg is beating Cheryl by 54% to her 46%!

It was a great interview! Wasn't feeling Mel B's look... but she was really funny! I really hope they do work together musically (that's the Spice loon in me coming out kink.gif ) and I hope they get their wish of a Spice Girls v Girls Aloud week.

Mel B really didn't look great kink.gif But she was on fire, and I loved the two of them being interviewed together, they really do seem to get along so well wub.gif Really nice to not have any "female judges feud" rumours this year.

Posted by: andibob 19th October 2014, 08:07 AM

I think Mel really helped bring that fire and personality that's been lacking in Cheryl's interviews of late which was much welcomed and a really funny show.

Also Cheryl was the only judge speaking sense by the end of last nights X Factor show.

Posted by: THEO. 7th November 2014, 12:50 PM

It's sad to hear that come from Cheryl's mouth but Nadine has been saying very nasty things and she's completely true about her wanting to go solo more than most! Maybe they'll come back as a three piece?!

Posted by: -Jay- 7th November 2014, 03:42 PM

I wish they'd just resolve their issues and let things lie. sad.gif I swear these girls were more mature when they were 17-21 than they are now, when they're (almost) all in their 30s.

It's really sad that they had such a successful thing going on as a group, and they always promised that this sort of thing would never happen (bitching, fall-outs) but it has and in a big way. sad.gif They've really tarnished the group for me - not the music itself, but the actual group which I truly loved.

Up until 2008 I honestly thought that they all got on incredibly well; I never believed all the stories from over the previous years. But in 2008 I did start to think that perhaps things weren't exactly perfect between them, such as Nadine not turning up to the Brits (even though they still made out that everything was fine - see the image I've posted at the bottom of this post). Despite those doubts, I definitely didn't think that things were quite as bad as Kimberley made out that they were in her autobiography, and I never thought Cheryl would speak this way about Nadine. Up until now Cheryl has been really diplomatic when it comes to her. So that's a bit of a shame.

Honestly, I don't think Nadine is a perfect angel or innocent in this whole situation. But for all the "wrong" things she did, it was 5/6 years ago now. Can't they let bygones be bygones already? They all ended up doing solo things during the break and all seemed to enjoy the time spent away from the group (give or take Sarah who had some personal problems). So for some of them to still resent Nadine for the 2009 hiatus decision seems a bit... irrelevant, these days? Would Cheryl really have wanted things to have worked out any differently? Her solo career has been hugely successful, and if the hiatus hadn't happened when it did, then maybe Cheryl would have missed her chance to be at the right place at the right time with her solo music.

They really should have put all of this to bed when they reunited in 2012. Kind of frustrating that the reunion was clearly quite forced. It was seemingly more of an "ugh, let's get this over with then" ordeal than a genuine celebration. sad.gif

... major lolz~

Anyway, it's kind of strange to me how Cheryl lambasted Nadine purely for the 2009 hiatus thing and didn't really answer to anything about what happened in 2013. Is she trying to say that Nadine deserved what she got in 2013 as a pay back for what she did in 2009? Sigh.

Posted by: Joe. 7th November 2014, 03:55 PM

The words 'full of shit' are uncalled for as well. Why say that so long after the incident when you've been congratulating each other on babies and marriages on twitter since all the drama. Why bring it all up to boiling point again. It's a shame for all the fans who enjoy Girls Aloud as a unit.

Posted by: Umi 7th November 2014, 04:01 PM

As much as it's unpleasant to see them like this, at the same time I can understand why the girls feel this way towards Nadine right now if Nadine had forced a break that none of the rest cared for. As much as it worked out very well for Cheryl in the end and as much as I'm sure Nadine regrets what happened in 2009, a "being held to ransom" situation probably got very unpleasant indeed and I think it's understandable that a lot of resentment towards Nadine would be fostered amongst the girls?

At the end of the day, we only know the (apparent) basics of what happened. Nadine forced the break in 2009 against the will of the others and in 2013, the rest of them forced the split against the will of Nadine. We don't really know just how things went down in 2009 but I feel like it's pretty reasonable for the relationship between two people to break if one person (in this case, Nadine) was forcing their will upon them for largely selfish reasons. Putting things in the past is lovely but who knows if Nadine ever even apologised for pushing the break so hard.

Posted by: -Jay- 7th November 2014, 04:22 PM

It's kind of strange that in her autobiography, Cheryl made out that nearly everyone was satisfied with taking a hiatus at that moment, bar Nicola who had expressed that she thought it was crazy to slow down at that point. I don't recall that she put any specific blame on Nadine though.

Kimberley did express a different point of view though, and wrote that she felt that Nadine had held them to ransom.

I do feel like they could attempt to get over it by now, given how long ago it was. I'm sure if the other 4 had decided that taking a hiatus at that moment wasn't in their best interests then they'd have fought for it not to happen, and surely 4 is stronger than 1 in a decision like that? It certainly seemed to be on the last date of the Ten tour...

Posted by: AdamAloud 7th November 2014, 04:42 PM

The way Cheryl has so publically come out with all this and directed very much at Nadine makes me think maybe there's more than meets the eye to this. Could it be that they just really didn't like each other the whole 10 years? From what I can remember they've never been particularly close? Kimberley and Nadine were inseperable in the first year or so and then gradually Kimberley drifted over to Cheryl and Nicola.

Though I don't agree with how Cheryl has done this, was their any need? Her career is clearly not in need of the headlines and there's been no recent mutterings from Nadine about all this. In the interview, she could have just said something like 'don't believe everything you read'. I think the general public would seem more willing to side with Cheryl. It's all very bitter and bitchy from both parties and a real shame that it's tainted a legacy such as 'Girls Aloud'.

4 is definitely stronger than 1, but what do you do if one of the members outright says "I won't record until you let me get my way"? unsure.gif I don't think the group could have continued without Nadine.

Cheryl's autobiography was never likely to paint Nadine as a group ruiner when the group hadn't officially disbanded, also. I don't find it surprising that she'd make sure to make the break look more amicable than it was. And in fairness, she didn't have much reason to be negative about Nadine at the time she wrote her autobiography. I don't think she ever would have spoke about Nadine like this if Nadine herself hadn't hung the rest of the group out to dry with her "they split up without even telling me!" thing.

I don't wish to demonise Nadine at all, and I do feel bad for her in all of this, but it is worth noting that Cheryl never spoke ill of Nadine until Nadine spoke ill of her. It's natural to be a bit more forthcoming with the truth when you're forced to defend your actions.

I think we all share the wish of them getting along like they used to, but this doesn't colour my image of the group because by the looks of it they largely got along very well until the break, when the relationship between Nadine and everyone else fell apart. For essentially the entirety of their career, they were close. It's unfortunate the rest of the girls couldn't move on from the 2009 break fiasco but we don't know how easy or hard Nadine made it for them to do that, nor just how the break decision went down. Both Nadine and the rest of the girls have to share some of the "blame".

Posted by: -Jay- 7th November 2014, 05:03 PM

I definitely agree that all sides have to share the blame when it comes to this situation. There's always two sides to every story and Nadine probably feels wronged while certain others in the group feel like Nadine is the only one in the wrong. It seems like they will never find common ground and try to understand the other's point of view. I certainly don't think any of them will think "we're all to blame in some way".

I know Nadine didn't have to say what she said in her recent interview, and it was probably a bad move, but she clearly felt spurned by the others for how it all ended. Perhaps she lacks insight into how she was 4 years earlier and didn't know that the other girls felt like she was holding them to ransom. Maybe the girls have never sat her down and calmly made Nadine aware about how they felt about the hiatus back in 2009?

To be fair on Nadine, it was 5 albums down the line and for a girl group that sort of longevity was pretty extraordinary in the first place, 7 years. Nadine had been offered solo deals from the very start of Girls Aloud (apparently even by Louis Walsh, Girls Aloud's manager at the time!) but she rejected those offers to stay with the girls for years. She did show loyalty for a long time. She moved to America in 2007 buts still commuted to the UK for two years for the sake of the group (bar missing the Brits which was a bit dodgy admittedly). Maybe when Cheryl signed up to the X Factor in 2008, Nadine thought that there must also be life outside of Girls Aloud for her, not just for Cheryl? I do find it slightly unfair that all the blame is placed on Nadine for wanting to explore her solo career, when Cheryl was already starting to do her own thing away from the group. In fact while the girls were on the 'Out of Control' tour, plans were already in place for Cheryl to start recording a solo album, way before the hiatus began.

I know I seem biased towards Nadine but it's more a case of wanting to defend her a bit, because she's had so much flack over the entire time Girls Aloud have existed, and even if there have been times when she may have deserved it, I don't think she deserves *all* of the flack. ohmy.gif

What else has happened?

Posted by: Joe. 7th November 2014, 05:10 PM

I think Nadine probably was no angel and often could have been a bit of a nightmare to work with at times but I wouldn't rule out a bit of ganging up / scape-goating here. Nicola seems to just follow everything cheryl says. I don't know about Sarah, I'm not sure if she knows what's going on half the time. It must have been difficult for Nadine with Cheryl's popularity, because a majority of Girls Aloud's signature sound is because of her vocals, so I can see why she might have felt hard done by to a point.

Nadine gets a huge amount of flack but she hasn't publicly said anything bad about the girls has she? Apart from saying it was them that wanted the split and not her.

That's not really true though.

Nadine got Big Apple Bruce in 2007, the girls met him at their Tangled Up tour... One year before the Out Of Control tour.

What was doing Nadine getting a new manager 2 years before the hiatus? And why did she need a different manager when it was a girlband?

Posted by: -Jay- 7th November 2014, 07:40 PM

I thought Bruce was there for the Out of Control tour, not Tangled Up? Pretty sure he wasn't on the scene until 2009. As far as I can tell he's not mentioned in Kimberley's book until the Out of Control tour era is discussed.

No?

Article published on October 27th

http://fametastic.co.uk/archive/20071026/8210/nadine-coyle-keen-to-crack-us-after-girls-aloud-split/

Bruce Garfield, at the time nobody believed it... And two years later it turned out to be true, that he was her 'solo' manager since 2007.

Cheryl never said a bad word about Nadine, not even when Bruce Garfield started with all the shit during the Insatiable release... She didn't say anything either after all the 'poor me' Nadine drama when their last tour ended.

What I don't understand is how Cheryl didn't explode sooner... I guess Nadine's last interview clearly was the last nail in the coffin.

It's surprising some fans lack of memory...

Posted by: -Jay- 7th November 2014, 07:59 PM

Cheryl's book, page 176 of 'My Story' hard back:

QUOTE
"The Out of Control tour was our most ambitious yet, with 32 dates booked between April and June.

[...]

'Who's that?' I said to Kimberley when Nadine brought brought a bloke we'd never met before onto the tour bus.

'No idea,' she said. Nicola and Sarah didn't seem to know either, and so we waited for Nadine to do the introductions.

'This is Bruce, my manager,' she said.

'Oh!' We all gasped.

[...]

Having her manager actually on this tour with us was crossing the line, and that's when I knew that it was finally time for us to take break.

Even with the above article you posted (and personally I don't remember any fan knowing/hearing about Bruce until 2009), it seems he was no bother to Girls Aloud until 2009. It seems like the girls didn't even know who he was until the 'Out of Control' tour, even if he was associated with Nadine since 2007.

So less of the patronising "It's surprising some fans lack of memory..." please.

Posted by: Carlos V 7th November 2014, 08:07 PM

How are they not going to be aware of him being her manager if even the press knew about him in 2007?

It didn't bother them until 2009? Yeah, because having your own manager when being in a girlband is the most normal thing to do.

I'm not patronising but I remember very well all the drama at GAM and at the official forum.

Posted by: -Jay- 7th November 2014, 08:31 PM

Kimberley's book also only references him being around in 2009/Out of Control tour. So in any case two of them have said that he wasn't hanging around Nadine & Girls Aloud until that point, not the Tangled Up tour. I don't think Kimberley would have missed the opportunity to say if Nadine & Bruce were bothering her earlier than she said.

Maybe he was involved in handling Nadine's affairs in America from 2007, away from the girls. Evidently it seems like he was no bother to the other members of Girls Aloud until 2009. That seems to be one of the main reasons why the hiatus even occurred that year, because the girls were put out when they found out that Nadine had a manager/didn't understand why she needed one.

Not that it really matters anyway. I reckon the girls would have imploded even earlier than they did if Bruce was around them for two tours!

Oh these girls. What are they like!

I have always thought very highly of Nadine throughout this due to her positive attitude to the girls in spite of the somewhat obvious bad blood involved in the break/split. The interview where she spoke about being uninformed of the split really made me feel quite bad for her (for obvious reasons, it must have been a horrible thing to happen) and the way she spoke about not signing the document ("I'm a one-man band!") was very endearing while showing just how passionate she is for the band. At the same time, if she is at all aware of why the group wanted to split in the first place (i.e. bad blood over her forcing the break in 2009) then it was somewhat unfair/manipulative of her to paint herself as the victim of a group who hated her for unexplained reasons.

As much as I love Nadine and her quirky/outright insane ways, as well as her obvious love for the group, I am not finding it hard to believe she's the type to leave out details to paint herself in a better light in this situation. Strange as it may be to bring up, her time on Irish Popstars really didn't say much for her honesty. That sounds very unfair, it's just one incident from when she was half the age she is now, but at the same time it's something that means it's hard to imagine her as someone telling a perfectly unbiased version of events.

I'm kind of rambling at this stage, so I'll try to get back on topic tongue.gif Essentially I think it's somewhat unfair to call Cheryl out on being personal towards Nadine at this point in time. Sure, "full of shit" is a lot more vulgar than what Nadine said but is a bit of vulgarity any worse than someone leaving out massive details of her own failings to make out everyone but herself as a terrible person? I tend to side with Nadine in these things but she cast the first stone with painting the other girls as 4 backstabbing bitches. Kimberley of course is another story and I think Nadine would be totally justified in criticising her, but I'm speaking about Cheryl's retaliation and Nadine blaming all of the group rather than just Kimbers.

QUOTE(Umi @ Nov 7 2014, 09:35 PM) *

I agree with everything you wrote! I just wish they could all see things from the other's point of view really. Hopefully at some point in the future they'll forgive each other. sad.gif

So do you think this will be Cheryl's last album?

Unfortunately for us that actually enjoy Cheryl the popstar it's a shame she makes a lot more money from everything else she does compared to music.

I would love for her to release some EPs from time to time, 4 or 5 songs that could easily be a single instead of a complete album. With streaming I think we'll start seeing shorter albums again since album sales are at its lower point.

I can see her getting pregnant next year... She's already 31 and I don't think she'll wait much longer.

Posted by: JosephStyles 23rd November 2014, 06:37 PM

I definitely can't see it being her last album, she seems to be enjoying performing more than in any of her solo eras right now and has definitely found the perfect sound for her. Would be a crying shame if she stopped after this.

Posted by: -Jay- 23rd November 2014, 06:52 PM

I suppose it depends on whether Cheryl & the label feel it's worth while or not! Although she's recently achieved 2 more #1 singles, the album hasn't set the charts alight, maybe she'll become a bit disillusioned by that. And yeah, a baby could well be on the way once this 'era' is over.

I don't think the label is going to have any problem, I mean, they keep releasing albums from less successful acts (single and album) and I don't think Cheryl is expensive at all when it comes to promo because it usually comes all from herself (tabloids). She usually has less promo than a lot of average popstars (I'm talking about promo that costs money, not her X Factor judging role).

But I'm not that sure about Cheryl herself.

I hope she tours next year, I saw someone mentioning a theatre tour and I'm 100% behind that idea, more than an arena tour.

That's never gong to happen, not the 5 of them. I could see collaborations between Cheryl, Nicola, Kimberley and even Sarah... Buy to reform as a 5 piece? Never

Things need to change a lot for a little possibility of a comeback to ever exist.

Posted by: Only Human 25th November 2014, 10:33 AM

I think Cheryl will continue to make music, she's more of a successful singles seller now rather than an album artist.
But I definitely think she'll do a few more albums. With Only Human I think she should release a few more singles and then maybe a re-release mid June (BGT performance of a new single perhaps) just to push the album sales. Also maybe a tour around that time too.

Despite how up herself Cheryl has acted regarding the whole Nadine thing i take no pleasure in her flopping. I actually bought the deluxe bosxet so maybe i am pissed at her but thats it.

Her album is flopping there is no getting over that.

To sell just 29k in two weeks with the exposure she has had with 2 no.1 singles under her belt ain't good at ALL. I am actually abit concerned for her record deal you have to go at least platinum these days to be profitable. I feel she was given a lifeline with A Million Lights only shifting 100k, any other artist and they would have been dropped. She really needs do at least 200k-300k by the end of this campaign. I really thought she'd do really really well considering both her singles literally flew to No.1. Cheryl hasn't looked as happy as she did 2 weeks ago on the XF - she is clearly concerned about her album sales. I really thought XF would get her back up to her Album 1 and 2 sales but i guess i was wrong. I mean lets be honest she only agreed to go on XF because she knows how much it helped her before. I know Call My Name managed to get to No.1 but the album sold very poorly, she didn't even go platinum. I cant see her being one of the big XMas sales sellers at the moment. Oh and considering how badly she is selling Nadine and Sarah have NO chance with their new albums next year sadly.

I mean even with a third single even if it went No.1 i cant see how that could drastically help the sales she already has two number 1 one's on there and people still dont want it.

I'm sure she won't be dropped considering The Saturdays' past few albums have flopped big time compared to Cheryl's and they are with the same label.
I'm sure Polydor/Fascination are still making money from her singles.

Cheryl even said herself she doesn't care about the chart position of the album (before the release) as she's making the music she loves. But obviously she would still love a #1 album or higher sales.

Posted by: AdamAloud 25th November 2014, 01:58 PM

The thing with acts like Cheryl and The Saturdays is that they make FAR more money with stuff like endorsements and deals than they do with the music. So the management aren't going to drop them when for the price of recording an album every 12-18 months can make them so much back with endorsements.

The album sales are disappointing not only for the time of year and her profile but also for (in my opinion) step-up in quality from her last one. It's quite clear now that Cheryl is a 'singles artist' these days but there's nothing wrong with that! I think with streaming and the way we consume music changing so fast 10-15 track albums will soon probably be a thing of the past and we'll be getting annual 5 track EPs, like they do 99% of the time in Scandinavia.

Posted by: London81 25th November 2014, 11:27 PM

I agree with Adam. She's not the only artist massively suffering with poor album sales in this current climate. Albums are quickly becoming a thing of the past. People have stopped buying albums like they used. I hardly ever but any albums these days. Yes I bought Cheryl's but the album I bought before that was kylie right back at the start of the year. However I have bought many many singles and streamed other artists. Cheryl is still profitable because she's current and as she sells more and more singles, her touring will sell well which we all know is where artists really make their money these days.

Posted by: mr_aly 25th November 2014, 11:44 PM

I think the reason she agreed to go on X-Factor was for the megabucks that was being offered for her to be on the panel. I know I'd care more about that than selling an album that would make me pennies from selling tons of it due to no creative involvement. The pots of gold for Cheryl lie in endorsement and being on that X-Factor judging panel, I know if I was her that would be my main concern.

Posted by: London81 25th November 2014, 11:47 PM

Yup very true. X factor was for the money, making an album was for the funsies wink.gif

Posted by: Hayzayy 26th November 2014, 08:35 AM

That's true, she won't get much money from her albums anyway, unless she sells 20 millions records worldwide like Adele but we know that won't happen laugh.gif
At this point I'm happy that she actually "cares" for the music and releases such a good album (my favourite of hers) knowing that it won't sell lots.

Posted by: -Jay- 26th November 2014, 12:31 PM

Did she know it wouldn't sell lots? I'm not convinced she'd have thought that or have that degree of self-awareness. Obviously I'm talking "normal lots" not "Adele lots". I'm not sure she or the label would have anticipated or wanted Only Human to be doing how it's done so far.

There must be a reason why albums are continued to be produced by most commercial artists - the expectation that they'll be profitable. If there was no money in them at all then it surely wouldn't still be a thing at this point in time, but they are, globally. I doubt Cheryl and the label have put this album out purely for the fun of it.

It isn't a buzz album, I don't think they expected a 21k opening but I also don't think they were expecting hugh numbers either... As we didn't expect it.

This album though it's an excuse for her, because from where she makes money is from different endorsements, she didn't make £22 million thanks to the music.

It's doing terrible but then again A Million Lights didn't do wonders either, so I don't think her label expected her to sell "normal lots".
The thing is she isn't comitted to promotion as much as she could. If she wanted to sell lots of albums, she would be promoting on TV twice a week or more, and she would have already filmed the video for the 3rd single. If she isn't releasing a new single in December, I am going to be furious. No more "taking time off with family for Christmas" bullshit please. She can have her week off if she wants but she doesn't need to put the whole campaign on hold so soon.

I am really annoyed because it is such a great pop record for me, and I wish she would do her best to make it a big seller.

I'm on the fence with Katie on this...

QUOTE
Katie Hopkins has hit back at Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's impassioned 'skinny-shaming' rant.

The acid-tongued columnist claimed the X Factor judge's recent weight-loss could be down to her wanting to 'outdress Rita Ora' on the panel and 'impress' show boss Simon Cowell, who famously axed her from the US version of the talent contest in 2011.

Suggesting Cheryl's striking looks are her 'only asset', Katie, 40, went so far as to claim the 32-year-old pop princess has cashed in on her appearance in the past with 'lucrative contracts for clothing and beauty products'.

In response to Cheryl's call for body-shaming to be made 'illegal' earlier this week, Katie vented in her column for The Sun newspaper, hinting the Geordie star has been hypocritical with her comments.

She wrote: 'She [Cheryl]would like you to know her weight issues are due to the death of her father-in-law and are not in any way linked to the need to outdress Rita Ora or impress Simon Cowell, who sees her as a disposable item.

'However, it is perfectly legal for her looks to be her only asset, to rake in lucrative contracts for clothing and beauty products off the back of them and to be idolised by legions for being pretty.

'It's only illegal if you aren't being complimentary. Do you get it, pet?'

Katie's comments come after Cheryl launched an impassioned skinny-shaming rant only hours after declaring 'it should be illegal' for people to publicly attack others over their appearance.

The singer has embarked on a one-woman mission to put a stop to the body-shaming phenomenon once and for all and her latest move saw her deliver some home truths via her Instagram page.

The lengthy outburst - which was posted online on Thursday - saw Cheryl hammer home the message that 'there's so much more to life than having the 'perfect body' via her Instagram page.

The message started: 'The other side of body shaming is skinny shaming. I think this happens just as much as shaming someone for being bigger.

'How often do you hear someone say, 'give that girl a sandwich', or 'she needs a good feed'?'

She continued: 'Everyone says they want the 'perfect body' and have so many body goals, but when a girl is just that bit too skinny, in your eyes, she gets judged.'

Cheryl went on to claim it is the media's persistent promotion of unrealistic body ideals that's to blame for the public's judgemental attitude, saying, 'it's OK for your thighs to touch'.

In sharing the self-penned note, Cheryl's main aim was to instil body confidence in the youth of today and she hoped to encourage them to look beyond the pressures of achieving the 'perfect body'.

She continued: 'There is so, so, so, so much more to life than having the 'perfect body'. Every young person needs to understand that.

'Go travelling, learn about different cultures, be happy, fall in love and don't give a f**k about what people think.'

Cheryl ended with a defiant line which read: 'If your main goal in life is to be someone's 'body goals', you need to reconsider your attitude.'

Alongside the post, the former Girls Aloud singer added: 'I think it's about time people just leave others alone with their unnecessary and unwanted opinions and judgements. #liveyourlife.'

Cheryl's rant follows the publication of a new interview in which she admitted she was 'shocked' to learn people had accused her of suffering from an eating disorder after she appeared slimmer as the first round of The X Factor 2015 auditions kicked off earlier in the summer.

She told the Evening Standard Magazine: ‘I can take whatever they [the Press] throw at me after 13 years, what worries me is what it’s doing to the younger generation.

'And some of the people writing this stuff are women. There is no sisterhood. The body shaming has to stop. It’s bulls**t. Something has to be done, changed, even if it’s done in law.’

The singer’s weight has yo-yoed over the years, with the star appearing more athletic when performing on tour but becoming slimmer during times of turmoil.

However, she has insisted she's 'very happy and very healthy' and attributed her unintentional recent weight loss to grief after the sudden death of her husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini's father.

In the hope of silencing the body shamers, she said: ‘Every woman has a different body type and handles stress and grief differently.

‘When I work out, I can look like a tennis player. If I don’t, I look different.’

She first sparked concern among her fans when she was pictured looking noticeably thinner in a black crop top and flares at the Manchester X Factor auditions in July.

In the weeks that have passed, comments on social media about her appearance have escalated and were a talking point when the ITV talent contest returned to screens for its new series on Saturday.

Simon Cowell has previously jumped to the defence of his co-judge, declaring he was not concerned because she was ‘eating like a horse’ and explained her weight loss had been caused by ‘a bug’ and was not intentional.

Cheryl, who was made mentor of the Groups earlier in the week, is tied up with filming The X Factor from now until Christmas as well as helping her charity - Newcastle-based Cheryl’s Trust - raise £2 million to build a centre for disadvantaged young people.

On one hand, I see her point, but surely she'd champion Cheryl as the face of fat rights laugh.gif

Posted by: Hayzayy 4th September 2015, 08:51 PM

Cheryl is right. My whole teenage years I was skinny and got constantly judged by people for being skinny, while it was just in my genes. Nowadays when someone is too skinny they get told they're sick, unhealthy or anorexic. That's not the case. It's sad because it makes a lot of people more insecure with their bodies and it makes them feel shameful.
As Cheryl says it's wrong to call out someone for being fat, but it is the same for skinny people. I don't even understand how anyone can disagree with her on this.

Posted by: mr_pmt 5th September 2015, 02:53 PM

I'm actually on Cheryl's side with this, as someone who's always had a naturally skinny frame and finds it hard to put weight on I've had all sorts of comments too, some of them really do unnerve you and make you feel bad about yourself and it's not nice.

To be fair I saw it in Now magazine. Though they did say on the radio too.

She should have fought to keep Cole and make Ashley change his name haha.

It was her first proper official appearance since the X Factor and she was introduced as "Cheryl" (while Nick was introduced as "Nick Grimshaw") so I guess it pretty much confirms the split and she's dropping the "Fernandez-Versini" name.

She wasn't on the X Factor anymore for both "Call my name" and "Crazy stupid love", and they both got to number 1. If she releases a big song again, I can't see why she wouldn't get a hit again, with or without the X Factor.

And I still love "I don't care", such a feel good song. smile.gif

Okay I'm bored now... when is Cheryl actually going to release new music again? Now please.

Posted by: JosephStyles 19th July 2016, 07:57 PM

Yeah I'm really craving new Cheryl right now! I expect single 1 will be out in September/October and then promoted on the X Factor live shows. Gonna be weird probably seeing a Cheryl lead single struggle to go top 10 sad.gif

Posted by: London81 19th July 2016, 08:20 PM

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Gone are the days of a front loaded single straight into number one for chezza. Have to see if she can become a streaming artist. Gotta be a very strong come back single. Guess end of this year isn't too long to wait.

Posted by: JosephStyles 19th July 2016, 08:43 PM

I Don't Care was a streaming top 10 although it fell quite quickly I think sad.gif and Crazy Stupid Love didn't even go top 20 if I remember correctly, but with the right song, I think she could have a streaming hit! Time will tell I guess.

Posted by: Ryan. 19th July 2016, 09:44 PM

I can see Cheryl having a hit along the lines of 'Tears', especially if she launches it with an X Factor performance, in terms of chart run assuming that it is of course a high quality song.

Posted by: London81 3rd August 2016, 09:17 PM

I really hope new Cheryl music is on the horizon! I feel like we could maybe see a September single release with a performance on X Factor in October, followed by the album then?

Posted by: London81 28th August 2016, 11:39 PM

I've been caught up in the world of Britney! I'd love it if she releases something around X factor time but she's awfully quiet atm. I hope that's because she's hard at work in the studio. 'I won't break' came up on my play list earlier today and it reminded me how many good songs were actually on her last album. If she wants another hit album (unlike this last one) she's actually going to have to promote her ass off and create some hype. She was too passive in the last era eve though she got two #1 singles. She could have done more with that album.

Posted by: Dmdr 13th September 2016, 02:46 PM

What is going on with this album? I wish we had some details about who she is working with or when we can expect to hear the lead, she is being really quiet.

Posted by: London81 13th September 2016, 04:55 PM

I know, I don't have much hope for an Autumn release anymore.

Posted by: *Tim 13th September 2016, 05:18 PM

Well she's been away for a while after 2 underwhelming era's, she's obviously not gonna reveal much in case the hype overshadows the quality of the songs like it did with Only Human.

An autumn release could well still be happening, her single could come next week for all we know

Posted by: JosephStyles 13th September 2016, 05:30 PM

Yeah exactly! Plenty of time still, most releases tend to be announced like a week beforehand nowadays. Definitely wouldn't be shocked if she was preparing herself for an XF performance.

Posted by: London81 14th September 2016, 10:28 PM

I hope you're right. I can't help feeling that Cheryl needs the hype though in order to be successful. Let's see what happens.

Posted by: Hayzayy 5th October 2016, 02:31 PM

I hate to talk abour rumours but to be honest I do think she's likely to be pregnant... This would be great news for her but that means no music this year sad.gif

DERMOT O’LEARY has revealed Cheryl is all set to make a full-time return to The X Factor.

But if the mum-of-one has a last-minute change of heart, he hopes a certain diva will be waiting in the wings to replace her.

In an exclusive catch-up with Guilty Pleasures, the show’s host confirmed: ‘Cheryl’s going to come back.’

It comes after Chezza, who has been busy raising nine-month-old son Bear with boyfriend Liam Payne, joined Simon Cowell for the judges’ houses segment on last year’s series.

The singer, 34, hasn’t appeared on the panel since 2015.

Dermot, though, confessed he’d like to see Mariah Carey face the music on the ITV singing contest.

‘If it wasn’t Cheryl, I would love Mariah,’ he added. ‘It would be a whole new world of crazy my friend!’

QUOTE
‘I feel sorry for Cheryl, because all she wants to do is make her music.

Sometimes I think it’s people around her who might be selling stories,’ he confessed. ‘But I say to Cheryl, the music should do the talking, just let the song come out.'

She is negotiating a record deal right now but Cheryl is actually a real artist, otherwise I wouldn’t be working with her,’

‘She is making a real album about her life and emotions and people should focus on that more than what else is going on around her.’

There is talk of Cheryl’s album being a flop and the truth is that no one knows. I was actually blown away by her singing and her ability to write and be part of the song,’ he revealed. ‘I get a bit disheartened, because I just think people should just wait for the music. It will be worth the wait.

Cheryl told me: “Nicola and I wrote every track together. It’s been great working with one of my best friends, but I’m really proud of the album and excited for people to hear the new music.

“It’s pretty much finished. At this stage we’re deciding what will be the first single. We’re choosing between about three songs, but that’s quite a nice problem to have. Thankfully I’m not looking at it, saying, ‘Oh God, all this work and we don’t have a hit record’. I think we do.”

Cheryl also hinted Nicola will make a vocal cameo, adding: “I think she may appear somewhere. I can’t wait to get it out there for people to hear.

“It’s going to be a few months. We don’t have a date yet but I’ll tell you more soon.”

Yet more reports today she’s quitting music for good.

I just wish people would realise that streaming rules the charts now.

I still don’t think she’s going to quit but she does need better promo for the next single.

Tbh though maybe this time around her album could do better. Surely an album from her would at least go top ten even just on debut week (if it was released during a time of the year what isn’t busy Q4).

Posted by: ThePensmith 29th June 2019, 04:47 PM

Really rather lovely interview she did on Dermot O'Leary's Radio 2 show this morning (starts around 1hr 5mins mark): https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0006d9z

They played 'Let You', also 'The Promise'. She talked about how she feels about promo and touring now she's a mum. She was noticeably more enthusiastic talking about her Trust centre in Newcastle, and said that fans have been asking for initimate shows but you can tell from how she sounds the drive to do so isn't there. Dermot asked her if she'd like to do Glastonbury one time (she said only if she could glamp and not be judged for doing so).

Posted by: tommie 3rd February 2020, 05:06 AM

lol, she'll never do an album and might end up releasing a single per year until the label decides to do a Hits & Beyond type of deal.

Who knew she was such a big Danushka fan? teresa.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 3rd February 2020, 05:03 PM

I said this around the time 'Let You' came out and I still stand by it now: unless there is a sufficient commercial trade off for the effort of doing it, Cheryl's not going to be doing music again on her own for a long time. Although I could visibly foresee her doing a Louise Redknapp / Emma Bunton in about ten years' time when the nostalgia for her as a solo artist kicks in.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 3rd February 2020, 06:34 PM

Do you mean like if she gets a hit then she’ll consider an album?

Last year she said she had enough material for one but now it seems she’s just focusing on her other projects but she has one track she really likes.

I think you have a point there tbh. I can see her releasing a few singles though. Tbh what I’d love is if she managed to get a feature on a big dance record by someone like Jax Jones or Jonas Blue or Kygo. I miss the Cheryl who would release albums though sad.gif

It's a catch 22 the whole way round. Not just for Cheryl, for most artists who started their career in the last two decades, particularly those who had the majority of their success concentrated into a certain time period that was more favourable to a tangible market. Unless they can be guaranteed a massive hit in the way they used to, then - to quote a certain Welsh lass from Steps - it's not worth it for #23, and even less so to bring out a whole album. Even the chances of Nadine having a full new album look slim.

Not a great Top 3 there.

Posted by: Andrew. 30th June 2020, 03:52 PM

I actually love all three singles from Only Human (excluding the 'Radio Mix' of Only Human that no radio ever touched x), I'd put I Don't Care and Crazy Stupid Love in 3rd and 4th in her singles ranking only behind Call My Name and FFTL although if I had to choose right now I'd listen to I Don't Care over FFFL coffee.gif

The photoshoots for the Only Human era were so stunning wub.gif

Posted by: Liam.k. 30th June 2020, 04:01 PM

I do like 'Fight For This Love', 'Crazy Stupid Love' is okay but not one of her best and 'I Don't Care' is piss weak.

I'd rather 'Call My Name' and 'Promise This' were up there.

Posted by: Chemistry 1st July 2020, 05:33 AM

Quite surprised to see Fight only has just over 18 million streams! For such a big selling song, that's rather disapponting.

Posted by: Spiceboy 1st July 2020, 11:14 AM

Call my name and Fight for this love are amazing tracks easily her best. Crazy Stupid Love is really catchy as is Parachute. Promise this and I don't care are both pretty terrible though.

Posted by: pippa 1st July 2020, 01:24 PM

Fight For This Love, Parachute and I Don't Care are Cheryl's best single releases as a solo artist.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st July 2020, 01:55 PM

Fight for this love is by far her best.

Cheryl's headline Mighty Hoopla in September:

Posted by: Jay❄ 26th January 2021, 11:46 AM

Interesting! I wonder if this is just “for the nostalgia” or if she’s intending to have another go at releasing music this year? Being the headline act when she’s not been the most prolific of artists in recent years makes me hope there will be new material!

It’s a shame that she got swallowed up by the streaming era. She was away for too long! Ideally she should have followed up the Only Human era quickly & released new music in late 2015. It was weird that she committed to another year of X Factor in 2015 but took her foot off the pedal with her solo career. She could have eased her way into the streaming era in late 2015/early 2016, before having time off to become a mum. Oh well!

Posted by: Alberto! 26th January 2021, 06:44 PM

They basically confirmed all the UK-based lineup from last year with a few exceptions. I do hope this goes ahead.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th January 2021, 09:44 PM

Looks like I'll be going to this (if it goes ahead). Hope she doesn't just mime the whole set.

She doesnt look like herself to me.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 9th June 2021, 02:08 PM

She looks to have had some work done in that photo, I wonder with her returning to Instagram is it a sign she is doing some new music or some new tv work.

Posted by: Liam.k. 9th June 2021, 02:24 PM

She seems the most natural she has in years to me. I just love the simplicity of the hair and make-up, she looks glowing.

Posted by: pippa 9th June 2021, 03:39 PM

She doesn't look natural but looks more natural than some of her previous images.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 9th June 2021, 05:55 PM

Natural and cheryl are not 2 words that ever really went together for me ohmy.gif

Posted by: Lukuzz 9th June 2021, 05:57 PM

Why do people always feel the need to comment on if they’ve had work done or not. It’s really none of your business. She looks lovely, next.

Hope she does release some new music again, Let Go was such a tune shame it never really took off.

Posted by: Voodoo 9th June 2021, 07:38 PM

Does she even have a record deal? thinking.gif

Posted by: dannjohn 10th June 2021, 09:58 AM

i can't imagine she's still with 8 bit but it doesn't write off her being featured on a track... she does enjoy performing after all (i think?)

Posted by: Alberto! 10th June 2021, 08:50 PM

She's headlining Mighty Hoopla so I guess so. I was thinking she could have a new song out by September cause it would be quite random of her to headline an event a few years after she released her last two singles, but this is a rescheduled gig and it's 2021 so I've accepted that things don't always make sense lol.

Posted by: dannjohn 11th June 2021, 10:53 AM

i can't imagine her launching a single on the back of a gay festival is going to do anything...

Posted by: -Jay- 5th September 2021, 12:54 AM

Cheryl performed at Mighty Hoopla yesterday!

The set list:

Sexy Den a Mutha
Call My Name
Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)
Promise This
3 Words/Parachute [Mash-up]
It's About Time
Crazy Stupid Love
Let You
Fight for This Love [with snippet of Show Me Love]

I wasn't there, I've just been watching videos. I've seen everything bar the Fight for This Love performance so far. I believe Nicola sings the intro of Show Me Love and it goes into the Brits remix of Fight for This Love! How fab for there to have been a mini GA reunion heart.gif

Yaaas at Let You getting justice and being a part of her set *.*

Nice to be reminded of It's About Time, haven't heard it for so long.

3 Words and Parachute being blended was interesting, I think it worked quite well.

She should release the Everybody's Free cover to streaming!

She's still absolutely got the stage presence and energy in her performances, it was a really great set. wub.gif

Posted by: Alberto! 5th September 2021, 01:37 AM

Just returned from seeing her at Mighty Hoopla and it was a nice set although I feel the crowd was a bit lukewarm during everything other than first singles.

1. Sexy Den a Mutha
2. Call My Name
3. Everybody's Free
4. Promise This
5. 3 Words/Parachute
6. It's About Time
7. Crazy Stupid Love
8. Let You
9. Fight for This Love (with an interpolation of Show Me Love where she rolled out Nicola Roberts, although her contribution was literally seconds)

Posted by: Chemistry 5th September 2021, 06:47 AM

I used watched some of the clips on Twitter and it looked like a fab set! Especially considering the fact she hasn't done any big performances in a long time, you wouldn't know as she had all the moves and energy we expect. Nice to see her doing the cover of Eveyerbody's Free and as soon as the intro kicks in off Fight.. you are just reminded how much of a modern classic it is heart.gif Obviously very excited to see Nicola joining her for a bit as well. Also slighly off topic, but wow, her dancers are hot!

Ah that's a shame to hear though! Lovely you get to experience it live though. Was there a big crowd for her?

Posted by: Alberto! 5th September 2021, 03:38 PM

Well Mighty Hoopla has a big crowd, it's no re-entry, so many people convene to the Main Stage for the headliner. Looked quite a big crowd although I'm not good at estimate number. And it was interesting to see her for the first time in years and singing a couple of songs for the first time.

With rumours that Simon Cowell's beloved singing competition may be making a comeback, Cheryl is on the fence about returning.

'That's an interesting question,' she pondered. 'I don't know. It's a really weird one. It would be unusual to revisit after so many years, I'm sure they would make it really different.

'But I don't know. I've got really fond memories of the time that I was on there and I don't know if a comeback would feel the same...

'I think the public kind of miss it and it was such a huge moment in time, wasn't it? So, you know, never say never!'

~

Cheryl has revealed she's no longer set on having a second child because of the state of the world.

The 39-year-old singer shares son Bear, five, with her ex-boyfriend Liam Payne, 29, and revealed in 2020 that she would use a sperm donor to have a second child.

However, speaking exclusively to MailOnline, the new star of West End show 2:22 A Ghost Story, said that her attitude has changed post-pandemic and now that there would be a bigger age gap between her children.

Cheryl explained: 'I was so hell bent on having another before because Bear was at that perfect age. I think if you have that couple year age gap, you can still do things with them together where they're both engaged and both interested.

'Now that the pandemic happened in the in the meantime, and there's such an age gap, and I'm a bit older. I'm not so sure, honestly.'

Yet she didn't rule out other methods of caring for children, noting: 'maybe adoption. I just love babies and children and I'd do anything to help or have another one around but it's not as prevalent anymore.

'Also in the process of the pandemic I looked around at the world and thought this world is a bit crazy. Is it a sensible idea to bring a soul into all into this madness?'

For now, Cheryl's focus is purely on Bear, who will celebrate his sixth birthday in March.

Discussing their plans for the day, she revealed: 'I'm gonna spend it with him and he is very headstrong so he will let me know what we're going to be doing!

'So we'll have to see what he's got on the cards for that. I'm sure it's something that will cost me a lot of money, whatever it is!'

While he is still young, Cheryl has been ensuring her son's privacy is respected, opting not to show his face on social media.

The Fight For This Love hitmaker revealed she tries to keep Bear away from the internet but confessed that her little one does love going on YouTube and has become 'obsessed' with the viral Wednesday dance craze started by the Netflix series.

While Cheryl treads the boards with her new role in 2:22 A Ghost Story she won't be around in the evenings for Bear's bedtime routine.

'It's bizarre,' she confessed. 'I've been doing that for almost six years. So that's a bit strange.'

Yet she admitted she had been 'blessed' by the timings of the Covid lockdowns in 2020 which had allowed her to spend more quality time with her son.

She confessed: 'I think I enjoyed the lockdown a little bit too much. Bear was just turning three and was at that perfect stage where he knew how to talk back. It was a really precious age for him.

'I'm really blessed to be able to have that time just me and him. So I think I just enjoyed those couple years a little bit too much.'

Random but I’ve been watching 2011 EastEnders on iPlayer and I swear ‘Yeah Yeah’ is played in the Vic all the time. I do wish it had been a single, I get ‘The Flood’ being chosen as a winter single but ‘Yeah Yeah’ in early 2011 would have been perfect and I think it could have been a decent hit. Wonder if it was considered?

Cheryl's assault conviction was discussed on Celebrity Big Brother yesterday, and she ended up trending last night - and it's been reported on in the papers. I can imagine Cheryl won't be at all pleased with this topic being in the spotlight once again!

I have always been a bit fascinated about the public reaction - or lack of reaction - to this case, at the time. I guess lack of social media in those days was helpful with that? I mean it was a huge news story in 2003, but as we know it ultimately didn't harm Cheryl's career. Whereas with today's "trial by social media" climate, I can imagine it would have been a more instantly career damaging incident.
