Hello and welcome to this year's favourite event. No, it's not the recent hockey championship which Russia rightly lost. The last time Russia won a hockey tournament they also won Eurovision so we are still good there. Anyway, be sure to tune in tonight at 8pm BST (first time it's broadcast as early as 10PM in Moscow! yasss) for the first Semi Final of this year's contest. It will feature 16 max trax of life and Europe's favourite songs. Australia, Austria, France, Spain as well as all of the 16 participating countries will vote so the casual British fans may choose to sit this one out (although that's literally a crime here so I'd not advice you do that really). Yes, you heard it right (but I'm sure you all already knew that) - today will mark the first time Australia will actively participate in the contest, and not just be passive audience members or ones to send an interval act. Therefore their votes can't be predicted that easily. That's why we are all very excited about this. The show is expected to last for 2 hours and it will be hosted by the three Austrian ladies, a Eurovision's very first. Oh well, male hosts usually only ruin the show anyway. See 2008, 2009, 2012. 2010 and 2014 being the exceptions. And of course fabulous Conchita was demoted from her ESC Winner status to manhandling the Green Room and its craziness. I'm sure she will be as awesome as she always is so there's nothing to worry there. The Green Room host standards are quite low anyway oops. Entries-wise, in this Semi Final we have Finland, who have been hyped for months since they won their Finnish selection, Estonia & Russia, both of which are among the frontrunners of the competition at the moment, Greece and Romania, who sent mediocre songs this year and might finally get a chance to DNQ for the first time since the current Semi Final system has been introduced, Georgia, Belgium and Albania with max trax of LIFE, Netherlands with a tired and failing attempt at being all K.I.S.S. for the third year in a row, Hungary and Armenia with almost-political statements, Moldova and Belarus with their controversial national selection winners, two Balkan countries of Serbia ("taking mistakes" though. girl...) and Macedonia (who sent 3 incredible songs in a row now), and finally last year's hosts Denmark. I hope I didn't leave anyone out. But if I did it was probably their fault anyway. So be sure to get your TVs ready, prepare snacks and flags with your favourite countries to cheer on tonight and, of course, to go to the toilet before the event. You do NOT want problems 3 minutes INTO the thing really. 01. Moldova // Eduard Romanyuta - I Want Your Love 02. Armenia // Genealogy - Face The Shadow 03. Belgium // Loïc Nottet - Rhythm Inside 04. The Netherlands // Trijntje Oosterhuis - Walk Along 05. Finland // Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät - Aina Mun Pitää 06. Greece // Maria Elena Kyriakou - One Last Breath 07. Estonia // Elina Born & Stig Rästa - Goodbye To Yesterday 08. Macedonia // Daniel Kajmakoski - Autumn Leaves 09. Serbia // Bojana Stamenov - Beauty Never Lies 10. Hungary // Boggie - Wars For Nothing 11. Belarus // Uzari & Maimuna - Time 12. Russia // Polina Gagarina - A Million Voices 13. Denmark // Anti Social Media - The Way You Are 14. Albania // Elhaida Dani - I'm Alive 15. Romania // Voltaj - De La Capăt/All Over Again 16. Georgia // Nina Sublatti - Warrior |

Planning my evening right now. Not quite sure my body realises it's Eurovision in 8 hours.
Quite glad in a way that we're not voting in this semi, I'd struggle to find songs that I think really need my votes and I'd probably just put them Finland's way. Seeing as Estonia and Russia won't need a thing. |

Well since I'm not out shagging it up with a random lad tonight I might actually watch this since I STILL haven't heard any of semi-one.
Since my dad is away on a job I might even force the mother to watch it as well. |

Watching BBC coverage of Eurovision for the first time tonight. Not sure if I should expect it to be awful or not.

A part of me likes 'A Million Voices', but then there's the war, gay discriminating and well... Putin... Would happely see someone else except Finland qualify instead of Russia. Btw this is what I want through... Not a predicta. What an average semi.. |

I have never felt as turned off by Eurovision as this year has left me and this semi pretty much sums it all up.

I will be wanting:
01. Moldova // Eduard Romanyuta - I Want Your Love 02. Armenia // Genealogy - Face The Shadow 03. Belgium // Loïc Nottet - Rhythm Inside 04. The Netherlands // Trijntje Oosterhuis - Walk Along 05. Finland // Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät - Aina Mun Pitää 06. Greece // Maria Elena Kyriakou - One Last Breath 07. Estonia // Elina Born & Stig Rästa - Goodbye To Yesterday 08. Macedonia // Daniel Kajmakoski - Autumn Leaves 09. Serbia // Bojana Stamenov - Beauty Never Lies 10. Hungary // Boggie - Wars For Nothing 11. Belarus // Uzari & Maimuna - Time 12. Russia // Polina Gagarina - A Million Voices 13. Denmark // Anti Social Media - The Way You Are 14. Albania // Elhaida Dani - I'm Alive 15. Romania // Voltaj - De La Capăt/All Over Again 16. Georgia // Nina Sublatti - Warrior This is probably the worst semi we've had since I've began watching, could swap about half of those out for the unbolded songs and I wouldn't really mind as I can't bring myself to care a whole lot. MAYBE some of the performances will spice it up but I'm not holding my breath. When I want a song through that I thought would be the worst song of the year upon first hearing it (Moldova) it's not promising. THANKFULLY there's a whole raft of great songs in the other semi to keep me interested. Predicting: 01. Moldova // Eduard Romanyuta - I Want Your Love 02. Armenia // Genealogy - Face The Shadow 03. Belgium // Loïc Nottet - Rhythm Inside 04. The Netherlands // Trijntje Oosterhuis - Walk Along 05. Finland // Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät - Aina Mun Pitää 06. Greece // Maria Elena Kyriakou - One Last Breath 07. Estonia // Elina Born & Stig Rästa - Goodbye To Yesterday 08. Macedonia // Daniel Kajmakoski - Autumn Leaves 09. Serbia // Bojana Stamenov - Beauty Never Lies 10. Hungary // Boggie - Wars For Nothing 11. Belarus // Uzari & Maimuna - Time 12. Russia // Polina Gagarina - A Million Voices 13. Denmark // Anti Social Media - The Way You Are 14. Albania // Elhaida Dani - I'm Alive 15. Romania // Voltaj - De La Capăt/All Over Again 16. Georgia // Nina Sublatti - Warrior Albania and Georgia could get through due to their late draw but I'm not feeling as if they're any way certain now. Maybe Belgium could too. Probably at the expense of Finland or Denmark. |

As per my tradition on the day of the event, Semi 1 has been on loop on my ipod the entire day now. When that happens you KNOW the shit is getting real *.*
I seriously could EXPLODE with excitement. Quite fab to think that Eurovision has such power over me since at the beginning of the day I got a not very nice surprise :/ |
