The usual Maltese national final is no more! Their own version of The X Factor is launching for the first time from October, with the winner going on to represent them at Eurovision next year.
Well after two non-qualifications, and then Ira Losco representing them before that with a song that didn't even win the selection, it's probably a good thing to try and change things up.
No doubt the usual suspects that turn up in their NF every year will all just enter X Factor this year instead then
Exciting
They're into the live shows now and the current favourite for the crown is Michela Pace who delivered this performance of LP's Lost On You
The Maltese representant is decided tonight
Michela Pace wins the first season of X Factor Malta and will represent the country in Tel Aviv.
Seen bits of her performances on Twitter, she has a great voice. It's got a unique edge but power as well, but she can be a bit strained at times I noticed. Hopefully she gets a song that really fits her and does it justice.
I'm still mad Christabelle was robbed of the final tbh
Tick tock Malta!
Although there is a rumour that the song they've picked is the one that Poli Genova and another vocalist nearly represented Bulgaria with last year and ~ a select few ~ fans got the demo of but we'll see if it comes to that.
YES MALTA
THAT DROP
Omgggg this is a SERVE *.* This might challenge for my fave with more listens, bloody hell I did not expect that.
omg, this is EVERYTHING.
Malta did not come to play.
I'm actually so shook because of all countries you just don't expect Malta to come up and potentially snatch a fave
High key a bop and that video’s so ~expensive~
Nicosia right now
Oh my goodness, what a BANGAROO!!!
Well slap me across the face and call me Derek!
Malta take all my points! Move along Tamta, mooovvvve along.
This blows the Cypriot entry way out of the water. This is as good as any X-Factor winner’s first big release. I’d love to see this win and if Cyprus can come 2nd then Malta can return to such heights themselves.
I could easily see this being the Fuego of the year, it's a bloody magnificent pop song that's very current but it has a bit of a quirk to it with the drop. As long as she's good live (which from what I've seen is no issue, ofc an uptempo song with a bigger performance is more pressure) and has good staging this is surely going to do very well??
PULL THRU MALTA!! OMG
There's a Dua Lipa quality to her voice which I hadn't heard before, this is absolutely fantastic from Malta!
Dua Lipa wishes she was releasing this as her new single tbh
Yeah this is definitely taking a lot of Cyprus’ votes, oops. Brilliant entry, their best in ages! I used to stan Malta a lot in the 00s but they lost their way a lot this decade.
Omg no wonder this is such a banger, the writing credits for Joacim Persson who is one of the writers for Chameleon include:
Kelly Clarkson - Run Run Run
Charice - Pyramid
Aura Dione - Geronimo
Ashley Tisdale - It's Alright, It's OK
Mandy Capristo - The Way I Like It
S Club 8 - Sundown
*.* *.* *.*
as well as Body Language by Heidi Montag *_*
I DID NOT
EXPECT
*THAT*
DROP
!!!
Completely blown away. This is beyond. Speechless.
Working with the same person behind Loreen's staging for Euphoria.
Could it be finally Maltas year, its prob the country that most wants to win it.
This is my favourite out of the few I've listened to so far (I like to always save at least some for the contest itself) - I think out of all the main top 10 contenders it works best as an actual finished song, rather than the feeling you're missing bits that the staging/performance will fill in on the night. If 'Satellite' can win then I wouldn't rule this one out, and Malta so deserve a win after so long!
OMG... Valetta to host next year... this is amazing, and I'm planning a holiday to Malta next year I'm going...
This year's... "Fuego"
This is easily my favourite this year. That drop is absolute dynamite! The response from the fans is lukewarm, but I put down to that the fact that those over 40 are not getting the liking the drop. As long as staging compliments the song, this is gonna eat up the youth vote and juries will vote for it because it’s bloody Malta.
As a Maltese'r' myself... may I ask why (I've seen this before in other rooms), there seems to be a thought that Maltese are favoured by the jury vote? Ira Losco asides, when did Malta benefit from Jury votes?
and yes I agree... we so want to win this... it's a yearly major event for the country If we ever win, the singer/s will probably be proclaimed a saint '
She can SING this yassssss
This is going to be so good!
we going to top 10, malta!
