23. Take Back The Night - 6.44 Highest Score: ...ready for it (10) Lowest Score: blacksquare (0) UK Chart Peak: 22 US Chart Peak: 29 Out at 23 is Take Back The Night, the lead single for Part 2 of The 20/20 Experience. This song does what it says on the tin and gives us some late night disco groove which basically encompasses the dancier parts of the 20/20 era. I like Justin when he's just dancing around and having fun and this song is exactly that - and this was exactly what was needed after the controversial release of Tunnel Vision as 20/20 Part 1's third single (but we'll talk more about that later ) Shame this is out so early 22. Holy Grail (with Jay Z) - 6.46 Highest Score: Jonjo, fgi090505 (10) Lowest Score: Tawndry Hepburn (1) UK Chart Peak: 7 US Chart Peak: 4 Justin's return track for Jay-Z after Jay featured on Suit & Tie, Holy Grail falls out at #22. I hate to be that guy but I think this would sound better without so much Jay-Z The first 1 minute and 16 seconds of this sound really great with Justin doing a really great job, but the production during Jay's parts turns me off this a bit. They've both done better and I generally prefer JT x T.I. to JT x Jay The Smells Like Teen Spirit interpolation is a bit uneccessary too. |

21. Love Never Felt So Good (with Michael Jackson) - 6.57 Highest Score: Chapman, SamJudd, gavindeejay (10) Lowest Score: Regina (1) UK Chart Peak: 8 US Chart Peak: 9 Just missing out on the big Top 20 is a posthumous collaboration between the great late Michael Jackson and Justin released officially in 2014. Love Never Felt So Good is a light disco jam which I wasn't looking forward to, but actually turned out a lot better than I think anyone was expecting and sounds like it could fit easily onto Timberlake's 20/20 or Jackson's Off The Wall. Granted this could've been more than what it was, but I think they were trying not to make a big event out of it's release and more just pay tribute to a music icon. It made the Top 10 in both the US & in the UK and actually went #1 in Denmark Tbh I would gladly swap this & the next song so Love... is Top 20 Now for the Top 20! 20. Not A Bad Thing - 6.63 Highest Score: Jonjo, Chez Wombat, SamJudd (9) Lowest Score: blacksquare, Scene, lewistgreen, Theo. (4) UK Chart Peak: 21 US Chart Peak: 8 Ahh Justin's cringiest song since Senorita. I actually really like this while I'm listening through 20/20, but on it's own it's not surprising that this underperformed in the UK. NABT was released as the third single for 20/20 Part 2 after Take Back The Night and TKO. With all four singles from 20/20 Part 2 already out of this rate, it looks like that is everyone's least favourite Justin album! Not surprising really as it is his worst (Justin at his worst is still 10/10 btw ) although I do love TKO & Gimme What I Don't Know (I Want) |

19. Tunnel Vision - 6.73 Highest Score: dandy* (11) Lowest Score: lewistgreen (2) UK Chart Peak: 61 US Chart Peak: DNC The first song out so far to be given an 11! Tunnel Vision came after Suit & Tie and Mirrors took the world by storm and... flopped. This isn't a bad song, but most would agree it's a step down from the other 20/20 Part 1 singles (or at least Mirrors) - yet greatly underperformed which was in part to a controversial NSFW music video. The video was actually originally banned from YouTube before being added but with age restrictions and was compared to Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines video in how "the seven-minute video features Timberlake and Timbaland gazing at three nude women who are wearing flesh-colored G-strings". There's actually a lot of hilarious reviews online for this video including: "Oh, come on! Don't complain. You bitched and moaned endlessly when Justin Timberlake stopped making music for six years, so don't get all Veruca Salty when he comes back with boobs to spare and boobs to share." [Male pop singers have been influenced by Rihanna and Katy Perry, who have] "stripped down in the name of a hit. Or art. Or freedom of expression, depending on the press release spin" I like the song, not huge on the video I'll post it below (please tell me if it's not allowed and I'll remove) 18. Suit & Tie (feat. Jay Z) - 6.84 Highest Score: Chapman, Dexton, SamJudd, rafiki4u (9) Lowest Score: gavindeejay, Bjork (4) UK Chart Peak: 3 US Chart Peak: 3 Much less controversial was the first single from Justin's first 2013 album which is the most commercially successful single knocked out so far! Suit & Tie reached #3 on both sides of the Atlantic and even made it to #1 in Denmark (another JT #1 here) and South Korea. Whilst I wasn't too sold on this at the time, Suit & Tie has grown on me a lot over the years and is quickly becoming a staple amongst my Justin favourites. With this out at #18, we are left with only Mirrors & Can't Stop The Feeling as JT singles from 20/20-onwards as the rest of his 2000's discography sails ahead. Slight break in results now sorry Which of Justin's singles do you think will be out next? A reminder of the Top 17 (a weird number to do this at I know ) Can't Stop The Feeling Cry Me A River Like I Love You LoveStoned Mirrors My Love (feat. T.I.) Rock Your Body Senorita SexyBack Summer Love What Goes Around... Comes Around Ayo Technology (with 50 Cent) Dead and Gone (with T.I.) Give It To Me (with Timbaland & Nelly Furtado) Love Sex Magic (with Ciara) Signs (with Snoop Dogg & Charlie Wilson) 4 Minutes (with Madonna & Timbaland) |

I've always felt Not A Bad Thing to be quite underrated!
Hoping Can't Stop The Feeling is out sooner rather than later. |

CSTF is amazing. I'm so happy to see it top 17! I can't imagine it'll survive too many more rounds though. It's actual pure pop goodness for me The song 'Happy' really should've been imo. Pharrell ironically sounds so bored and uninterested on that song I felt

17. Can't Stop The Feeling - 6.89 Highest Score: Jonjo, Regina, HarryEzra, SamJudd, Midge (10) Lowest Score: Joe., Dobbo (-1), blacksquare (0) UK Chart Peak: 2 US Chart Peak: 1 Dobbo & Joe your wish is my command! Can't Stop The Feeling leaves at #17 with a highly polarizing opinion by the looks of it with five 10's and two -1's! This was released a the single to the animated motion picture Trolls which was created purely for the billions of dollars of merchandise that would be made from it. CSTF has since become Justin's most successful peaking in the Top 10 almost everywhere in the world and even going #1 in a large portion (including in the US). Can't Stop... was mostly blocked from #1 across the globe by the likes of Drake (which also went #1 almost everywhere in the world) and Calvin Harris. It managed to stick around in the charts are quite a long time, but as did One Dance which was the far more annoying song in the charts at the time I like this, however it was seriously overplayed for basically all of 2016 which has affected how some people look back on it. 16. Summer Love - 7.1 Highest Score: Dexton, Nick F1 (10) Lowest Score: Jupiter (4) UK Chart Peak: DNC US Chart Peak: 6 The first single here to have an average over 7 is Summer Love, the 6th single from FutureSex/LoveSounds which I don't think was released in the UK? Or it flopped, although following the first 4 singles of FS/LS I'm not sure how it would've missed the Top 100 completely, correct me if I'm wrong (likely). Either way this is an absolute jam It is a bit Justin-by-numbers and is what you'd expect from him in 2006/2007, but by no means is that a bad thing I actually find myself going back to this more than say SexyBack or What Goes Around... Comes Around which were much bigger at the time, and - a reminder - are yet to come... |
