WGA have overwhelmingly (96.3%) decided to honour the 10th anniversary of the US Writer's Strike that damaged and even killed so many shows with another writers' strike!
Could start as soon as next week, affecting loads of shows such as Modern Family, Empire, SNL and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Gutted at this as last time it basically hurt so many shows that I liked, particularly Heroes with that second season. It also basically killed Pushing Daises stone dead. Which shows do you think will be damaged beyond the point of no recovery this time?
Oh boy. I was thinking about that strike only yesterday with no knowledge that they were planning another one. So many shows from 2007-8 have shorter seasons because of it.
If it's going to affect late-night comedy that'll be very bad for the satire scene at a time when it probably needs a boost.
Argh, Heroes really suffered from this, as did LOST in its 4th (and worst) season.
Heroes
But the last strike meant an additional season of Big Brother USA (the additional season being the first that I watched, on E4, thus kicking off my obsession )
Ohhh, interesting.
This could have a big impact to the 2017-2018 Series.
It would be interesting to see if they perhaps extend shows like Big Brother to a longer season if there is a strike, or perhaps even move BBOTT into regular programming.
CBS should be okay, they have another season of The Amazing Race already filmed and of course Survivor.
Imma be PISSED if this means another shorter season for Scandal. We've already been screwed over twice by Kerry Washington's pregnancies!
I'm here for it if it gives us another BBUS season *.*
I support workers rights to strike. At the same time imma go cry in the corner for the sheer amount of carnage this is going to cause. Thankful my absolute fave of all time W&G is a short season anyway so should be immune from the effects.
mixed feelings: Anti-Trump SNL needs to be on the air, on the other hand Jimmy fallon gave Trump a huge non-tough-interview boost prior to the election and has plummeted in the ratings since. Swings & roundabouts...
ARGH! This is so infuriating (purely for selfish reasons obviously).
Big Bang has just wrapped production so I would imagine that most TV shows will have for the year. It'll probably mainly effect summer shows which will mean some issues for cable shows producing now like Stitchers for example
If they can resolve the dispute before the new seasons start production in July then we might come out of this unscathed
Not going ahead after they've reached a deal at the last minute!!
Thank f*** for that!
