The Nation's Favourite Queen Song. Next Tuesday, 11th Nov. ITV, 9pm- 10.30pm. repeated next day, 10.40pm. The obvious one will surely be No.1.

Posted by: AntoineTTe Nov 4 2014, 09:29 AM

I don't know why they don't pluralise this.

Posted by: popchartfreak Nov 4 2014, 01:07 PM

prediction:

1. Bo Rap
2. Dont Stop Me Now
3. We Are The Champions
4. We Will Rock You
5. Somebody To Love
6. Under Pressure
7. Radio Ga ga
8. I Want To Break Free
9. Flash
10. These Are The days Of Our Lives

ought to be

1. Seven Seas Of Rhye
2. Killer Queen
and then some others...

I would be surprised if Flash was in there, apart from that it looks about right.

My fave Queen era is the Miracle album. I want It all, Breakthru (one of their best songs imo) Invisable man, Headlonmg etc. None of those will probably be in the chart sad.gif

Posted by: Leonardo Nov 4 2014, 02:03 PM

What about my faves "Another One Bites The Dust" or "The Show Must Go On" both top 10 contenders surely?

Another One Bites The Dust was their only US No.1 single.

Greatest Hits is the UK's best-selling album but imo GHII is just as good and essential.

Good point actually. smile.gif

My easy favourite would be 'Who Wants to Live Forever'. Will be criminally too low though here unfortunately because they have far too many more "signature"/well-known songs.

Posted by: MauriceStoran Nov 4 2014, 09:21 PM

My favourite is Innuendo but i don't think that one would even be top 10.

It's fabulous, I'd rather listen to the epic forgotten Innuendo than the played-to-death Bo Rap anyday...

That song is epic from beginning to end! The guitar solo gives me so much life!

Posted by: AntoineTTe Nov 4 2014, 10:49 PM

1 Innuendo
2 These are The Days of Our Lives
3 The Show Must Go On
4 Don't Stop Me Now

Posted by: AntoineTTe Nov 4 2014, 10:50 PM

Innuendo is.Muse's entire career in 6 mins.

Think Popchartfreak has it nailed apart from 'Another One Bites the Dust' and 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' will probably be in there...maybe 'Killer Queen' too.

Would expect 'You're my Best Friend', 'It's a Hard Life', 'It's a Kind of Magic', 'One Vision', 'I Want it All' and both sides of 'Bicycle Race' and 'Fat Bottomed Girls' to be fighting it out too. Maybe even 'Headlong' - boop diddy diddy, boop diddy doo....

Don't like any Queen songs.

Is this list will base on the sales or peoples voting ?

A poll apparently but I've never seen a chance to vote anywhere!

7. Another One Bites The Dust
8. Radio GaGa
9. Who Wants to Live Forever
10. Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Not sure about British peoples, but possible it's the most polpular Queen's songs in Russia.

THIS. Completely this. WWTLF is easily their most underrated in comparison to their other "signature" hits. 'Radio Ga Ga' finishing in second place behind it would be the best outcome for me!

Bo Rap to finish dead last please. It won't and will possibly/most likely win. 'Don't Stop Me Now' will give it a damn good run though.

Bohemian Rhapsody won the 'Nation's favourite number 1' poll two years ago, assuming this is the same format as that then...yeah, that's like the most obvious winner ever surely?! (Deserved though, fab song, I do hope You're My Best Friend does well too though, one of my favourites from them and doesn't seem to always be rated in the same league as their other classics)

Posted by: steve201 Nov 6 2014, 01:05 PM

I assume this is for the new album release!!

These Are the Days of our Lives always makes me emotional!

Well, Flash (as others suggested correctly) not in there by the looks of it, but Killer Queen is yay! I got one of my 2 wishes, and the rest are shuffled about a bit cheer.gif

So many good songs!

Posted by: richie Nov 12 2014, 08:09 AM

Does anyone one have the rundown? I missed it.

Posted by: popchartfreak Nov 12 2014, 01:15 PM

somebody put this list on the net:

20. I Want It All
19. It's A Hard Life
18. One Vision
17. You're My Best Friend
16. Seven Seas Of Rhye
15.The Show Must Go On
14. Another One Bites The Dust
13. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
12. A Kind Of Magic
11. Who Wants To Live Forever
10. Somebody To Love
9. I'm Going Slightly Mad!!!???
8. Radio Ga Ga
7. Under Pressure
6. Killer Queen
5. We Are The Champions
4. I Want To Break Free
3. Don't Stop Me Now
2. We Will Rock You
1. Bohemian Rhapsody

but in the version I saw 9 was These Are The Days Of Our Lives, so someone having a larf!

Posted by: -Jay- Nov 12 2014, 03:03 PM

My taste in Queen seems to differ from the general public. I'm certainly not the biggest fan of Bohemian Rhapsody or We Are The Champions, while Don't Stop Me Now seems to get worse every time I hear it. ohmy.gif Wouldn't have We Will Rock You too high up my personal list either.

My favourites would be: Somebody To Love, Under Pressure, Radio Ga Ga, I Want To Break Free, A Kind of Magic and Who Wants To Live Forever. The latter song should have been one of their biggest hits!

Believe it or not I had never heard These Are The Days Of Our Lives before yesterday. Lovely song, and the video was very sad to see. sad.gif

Posted by: richie Nov 12 2014, 03:28 PM

Cheers popchartfreak - I'd actually put I'm Going Slightly Mad in my top 10, but I don't think many would.

Posted by: Suedehead2 Nov 12 2014, 06:28 PM

I wouldn't have put We Are The Champions or We Will Rock You anywhere near my top five.

Posted by: ϑЃεβϘ Nov 13 2014, 09:22 PM

If I was going by the singles then my Top 5 would be:

Bohemian Rhapsody
Now I'm Here
One Vision
Play The Game
Fat Bottomed Girls

But out of any Queen tracks they would probably be:

The March of the Black Queen
Bohemian Rhapsody
Ogre Battle
Get Down, Make Love
Tie Your Mother Down

Posted by: Suedehead2 Nov 13 2014, 09:44 PM

If I could choose non-singles then my list would probably include '39 and The Prophet Song, the latter simply for being even more OTT than Bohemian Rhapsody laugh.gif

Posted by: ϑЃεβϘ Nov 13 2014, 09:53 PM

Never been that big a fan of '39 but The Prophet Song is seriously off the scale!

Posted by: Suedehead2 Nov 13 2014, 10:02 PM

I just like the simplicity of '39, particularly given the nature of some of the other songs on A Night At The Opera. It was an oasis of sanity in the midst of some gloriously ridiculous material.

Posted by: Brett-Butler Nov 13 2014, 10:08 PM

Surprised that "Hammer to Fall" didn't make the top 20, it's probably my favourite Queen single. Never really went any deeper that the Platinum Collection, so wouldn't be too familiar with their album tracks.

Posted by: ϑЃεβϘ Nov 13 2014, 10:11 PM

Agree with Hammer to Fall.

Listened to Greatest Hits II the other night and was shocked by how bad a lot of it is.
After The Works came out I gave up on Queen. Radio Gaga was ploddy at best and I Want to Break Free made me squirm.

Then came A Kind of Magic and then the rot set in (apart from One Vision.)

Posted by: Suedehead2 Nov 13 2014, 10:12 PM

I'd given up before The Works sad.gif

I liked Jazz but Hot Space was where it all started to go wrong.
