Immediately I can think of Duffy being a big example of this as Endlessly peaked at 9, 'Well Well Well' missed the top 40. It might have always been likely that Duffy could never repeat the success of Rockferry considering how huge that album was but you'd still think she would have continued success after that era putting her on the map.

Mika. Although he continued his success in Europe for a good few years.
His second album was a bit 'more of the same' but I think it deserved more than it got. Commercially it was a big step back from Life In Cartoon Motion. I really loved We Are Golden as a lead single but I guess his moment had passed in the UK. |

The Darkness - debut album sold 1.3 million and peaked at no.
1 People didn't think the joke was funny 2 years later and follow up made no.11 and only scraped platinum |

Fergie I'd throw in too, she had hits all off one album and then it was back to BEP and no other solo success and if she did chart with anything later on it didn't make top 40!

The thing with Fergie for me was that the singles were SO good and the rest of the album was so pants!
It didn’t make me keen to check out anything from her post The Dutchess! |

Sonique is another. Massive era in 2000 and left it too long and returned with a 17 peak with her next era lead single and the album... #142

Duffy and Emeli Sande were my first thoughts, Betty Boo was another.

Sonique has a cover version of the Hocus Pocus Put A Spell On Ypu sang in het discography, so that was probably the second era!

The Feeling!
‘Twelve Stops and Home’ is such a great indie-pop album. Went on to become certified 3 x Platinum. Their 2nd album went on to sell just 100k… the others? I’m not even sure? |

Oh course The Feeling didn't even enter my head with this one lmao. Just one top 10 hit and that was it for their second era, mind you they followed up 'I Thought It Was Over' with their worst track for me and that was 'Without You'

Lene Marlin Sitting Down Here is such a cute and slightly heartbreaking song!
Edit: I didn’t know until I just looked her up that the pressures of fame led her down a dark path. I won’t state further due to triggers but I’m glad she’s in a happier place now. |
