QUOTE(Mack. @ Mar 19 2019, 03:21 PM) *
FA Cup matches will be shown live on the BBC until 2025 as part of a new four-year broadcast deal with the Football Association.

The new agreement - which starts at the beginning of the 2021-22 season - will see BBC Sport continue to show live fixtures, highlights and online clips.

Up to 18 fixtures a season will be televised - more than ever before.

The FA said the deal was "exciting", adding: "We look forward to working with the BBC for years to come."

So we still get some live domestic football on the BBC. Good news. I hope they will continue to show matches from the qualifying rounds.

Sky Sports won't be showing the Indian Premier League which starts tomorrow even though they had the rights to show it for the next few years. I think the Indian Cricket Board were asking for more money. Sky has already lost Australia home matches and the Big Bash to BT Sport and also India home matches so it doesn't leave them with much to show on their dedicated cricket channel from September to April.

The good news is that the Indian Premier League will still be shown in the UK and Ireland on Star Gold (Sky channel 729).

The FA Cup will be broadcast entirely on free-to-air television from 2021 after ITV announced a four-year broadcast deal with the Football Association.

ITV has revealed it will screen 20 live matches per season in the world's oldest football competition from 2021/22 to 2024/25, sharing coverage with the BBC from the opening round through to the final.

ITV will have the first and fourth choices of the second and fourth rounds and the quarter-finals as well as second and third selections for the first, third and fifth rounds.

The government is set to add the Paralympics to the 'crown jewels' list of sports events that must be screened live on free-to-air television.

It will be given the same status as the Olympics and other events including the men's football World Cup, Grand National and Wimbledon finals.

The government also wants to look into adding football's Women's World Cup and Women's FA Cup to the list.

It is the first time the list has been updated for 20 years.

England's win in the men's Cricket World Cup final was broadcast live on Channel 4 on Sunday after an agreement from Sky, who owned the UK rights to the tournament.

However, there are currently no plans to add live cricket to the list.

That's a shame, I remember when Channel 4 (Golaço !) had the rights and it was on after Trans World Sport on a Saturday(?) morning.

Sad times. Doesn't take much to out bid the terrestrial channels.

The Culture Secretary has given a strong hint that the Women's World Cup will me made a protected event, meaning that it has to be available on free-to-air channels. Let's hope she goes ahead with that.
