31st January 2016

It’s Zonderling at 1, with BISHOP, that’s a male Deep House duo and female DJ/Singer, who seem to have collided with major impact for me on the fab Crazy For You, just holding off the Must-be-huge-in-the-UK-sometime-soon Faded, from Alan Walker, a big Euro-hit. Florence holds at 3, that’s an unprecedented 21 consecutive top 3 weeks and one week at 4. The epic drama of the track just does not fade for me!

Chris Lee gives China a top 10 act crossed over with UK PCMusic, while The Shanghai Restoration project are a bit lower down, giving a modern Chinese-American version of a 1930’s Chinese movie tune (I think!). TheFatRat have a real mish-mash of musical styles that works at 10, and highest new entry is Nimmo at 20, a London 5-piece band with a thumping good dance groove.

Pet Shop Boys keep up the top 40 consecutive record - they have never missed once since debuting in 1985 - with Inner Sanctum, while all of David Bowie’s new tracks (except Lazarus) climb, including the 10-minute long experimental Blackstar, along with new entries for Bowie singing on his production of his song for Mott The Hoople, along with lead singer Ian Hunter: All The Young Dudes, a much better version than his own version. Queen Bitch also enters to swap places with China Girl and Ashes To Ashes which drop out, love ‘em, but they have had great chart runs already.

The late Colin Vearncombe returns with his classic Wonderful Life, as Black, while the late Glenn Frey goes top 40 for the second time with his Miami Vice hit, and the late Demis Roussos gets a belated tribute first entry for 60’s goodie Rain And Tears, with Aphrodite’s Child.

Hi Jason, Madonna, arf! laugh.gif Much better record than Madonna's ballad - and I'm a Madge fan cheer.gif I've not heard the non-vocal Faded must check it out, though I do love those fragile vocals dearly. 7 Years top 10? Actually it should be in this week, just too many tracks I love about - in less busy times it would be pushing top 5 cheer.gif

Shh don't tell anyone, but I'd much rather hear Jonas Blue than Tracy Chapman's original - just got a bit fed up of hearing it and the new version has given the song a new lease of life cool.gif

cheers!

Hey John,
Florence STILL top 3!!!!!!!!!!! To be fair, I still love Queen Of Peace as much as I did on first listen, so it's certainly justified. Much love for your #1, you can't help but wonder how Leww finds these smashes every month!!

Let It Happen is by far my fave of the links you posted, Tame Impala are a bit too underrated for as consistently good as they are. On first listen of Faded I was sadly disappointed, but all that hit potential means plenty of chance for it to grow. wink.gif

Hey Jordan, thanks muchly cool.gif Florence won't be top 3 anymore I'm afraid (too many good new ones), but thats quite a run! Leww must have a psychic link to Bangintunes.com, he's on a roll. They don't all register with me, but lately they have, so yay Leww!

Tame Imapala must have a breakthrough single one day, like Hurts both great acts that under-perform, though Tame Impala at least have the critics on-side. Faded takes a few listens to sink in, seems mildly pleasant to start with, and then it sinks it earworms firmly in and doesn't let go. I'm a bit obsessed with it this week laugh.gif

looking forward to some more chart tips from you! cheer.gif

cheers
john

Hi John,

Still a lot of Bowie songs, but "Lazarus" is dropping in the chart nono.gif

Good to see Black (R.I.P.) and beautiful "Wonderful Life" entering your chart!

I hope to see EW&F in your next chart ?
