Oops, think I might have misjudged this one 
Apparently it is from back in 2014 but I've only just heard and think it's quite a beauty. Haven't heard all of Semi 2 yet but it does sound quite strong from what I've heard so far, I must admit.

I CANNOT THINK OF A MORE POLARIZING SEMI FOR ME. HOLY CRAP.
I'm pretty sure there are enough Game Of Thrones stans in this semi to get Altyr through. And there's enough pop love to get the likes of Azure/Medhelnia/Frandoot (and to a lesser extent Kylienips & Seyetana) through.
Syndare is the one that strikes me as the closest to the Q line, as is TARO Bellamia. + Ojnoj/Daehun/BigZara SOMEWHERE in this mix. To be honest I DON'T KNOW. Only six songs stuck out as ones that will for sure do super well.

Tbh I can see why the Buzzjack Mountain one will almost certainly be a DNQ. Next time I submit an original (and I am working on one now with 2 other Buzzjackers' vocals whose names will remain a secret for now 
) I think I will do a more traditional song, verses, chorus and everything

....I wanted to post earlier this evening that the most reliable way to get Yu to post these days is to predict him out in BJSC... and yet I also compelled to say this song sounds nothing like a DNQ (especially when most K-Pop songs last year sounded like they'd DNQ yet made it in anyway) so... he's justified.
But having listened to most of the semi... not much sounds like a DNQ. More to come in the morning.

Hard to even pick any certain qualifiers here, I'm just going through what I think will happen based on past BJSC trends in similar semis. The main flaw in my plan is that this looks to be a perfect breeding ground for both Asian and rock entries but surely ALL of those noticeable genres can't be through, something that perfect never happens, and there's far more dance people that I'm not noticing, but I'm sure a few of those that people expect through will fall by the wayside. Basically most people are in with a chance and I can only pick about 3 or 4 really safe qualifiers. Even you Aelandor have a chance, I would say Copeland would have a good chance of being a DNQ in nearly any other semi but it's lucked out to have a chance this time.
And I'm probably not safe. I'm having to contrast myself next to Kyary.

I must admit some of those Asian entries are pretty good, one or two really stick out and its not my style of sound but now I'm hooked on a few, listening to most of these today, as I have back problems again, give me something to do in the background. Glad to see Echos / Fiction getting a good reaction so far, there are other material from them, I just came across Echos on you tube by accident, and I was immersed with their power rock ballad sound.

Aren't the dance-pop entries going to cancel each other out? Aren't the indie-pop ballady entries going to cancel each other out? Same principle. (except two of those songs are probably more similar than my entry is to Manamoo (which is a Paramore vs Girls Aloud like comparison), for example, so kind of even more pronounced)
Cancelling out is something that rarely is a thing in BJSC because people don't have quotas of genres they vote for, if they like two similar songs they give high points to both of them and both do well.

though there was that one contest where my semi was wall-to-wall bland dancepop and I got so sick of 'em I reacted and gave preference to non-dance just for being different...so did others and the result was a dance bloodbath. The next contest was noticeably less-dance-oriented

I know personally that I do try to vary the genres that I vote for, If I have to cut down my votes I'll usually remove songs that are of a similar genre so that I end up with a variety

i'll always send whatever but i always try to just make sure it sounds quite 'me' so it'll stick out apart from the odd non-descript one

Going in blind here as I have no clue where the Plug hype was/what the stats were!
In Semi 1 Bellamia, Syndare, Bhangra, Ajanaeda and Azure also sound like Qs, and actually there's not a single song in the semi I'd completely rule out of having a chance...BLOODBATH!
In Semi 2 Singerpurear and Terra Avium both NEED to get through but I'm just not sure...Hendinia's also sounds like a likely Q...just not enough spots!
