20 years since Geri vs Boyzone! Geri was the moral victor of that battle, she only lost out because Boyzone had two different CDs and thus beat her by the small matter of 700 copies. 20 years also since 'That Don't Impress Me Much' - which actually ended up outselling them both and kickstarting Shania's 'Come On Over' album to the huge sales it enjoyed! I'm biased but 1999 really was one of the best years for pop music.

David Guetta featuring RAYE
Stay (Don't Go Away)

Non-album single
Released: 9th May 2019
Label: What A Music

Video

Biography

From his early days playing Chicago house in French discotheques to his long reign atop the pop charts, David Guetta has revolutionized dance music multiple times. Born in Paris in 1967, Guetta began DJing in the late ’80s, when the shimmery sound known as the “French touch” was taking shape. By the early 2000s, at his F*** Me I’m Famous parties in Ibiza, he had translated that melodic style into a clever merger of pop sass and club swagger. He parlayed that mix into pure platinum with hits like 2003’s “Just for One Day,” an energy-stoking rework of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” and 2002’s “Just a Little More Love,” a sultry bump-and-grind featuring R&B singer Chris Willis. That versatility—along with a knack for killer hooks—would become one of Guetta’s principal calling cards, and as EDM exploded across pop culture at the end of the 2000s, Guetta’s shapeshifting style led the way, yielding ecstatic affirmations (“When Love Takes Over”), feisty come-ons (“Sexy Bitch”), and unstoppable singalongs (The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling,” which Guetta produced). Since then, his collaborations (Sia, Nicki Minaj) have kept listeners guessing even as his choruses—triumphant as a bottle of bubbly blowing its top—have proven one of pop’s most dependable pleasures. - iTunes

Biography

Tim Bergling (Swedish: [tɪm ²bærjlɪŋ]; 8 September 1989 – 20 April 2018), known professionally as Avicii (/əˈviːtʃi/, Swedish: [aˈvɪtːɕɪ]), was a Swedish music programmer, DJ, remixer and record producer.

At the age of 16, Bergling began posting his remixes on electronic music forums, which led to his first record deal. He rose to prominence in 2011 with his single "Levels". His debut studio album, True (2013), blended electronic music with elements of multiple genres and received generally positive reviews. It peaked in the top ten in more than fifteen countries and topped international dance charts; the lead single, "Wake Me Up", topped most music markets in Europe and reached number four in the United States.

In 2015, Bergling released his second studio album, Stories, and in 2017 he released an EP, Avīci (01). His catalogue also included the singles "I Could Be the One" with Nicky Romero, "You Make Me", "X You", "Hey Brother", "Addicted to You", "The Days", "The Nights", "Waiting for Love", "Without You" and "Lonely Together". Bergling was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on "Sunshine" with David Guetta in 2012 and "Levels" in 2013. Several music publications credit Bergling as among the DJs who ushered electronic music into Top 40 radio in the early 2010s.

Bergling retired from touring in 2016 due to health problems, having suffered stress and poor mental health for several years. On 20 April 2018, Bergling committed suicide in Muscat, Oman. He was buried on 8 June in his hometown of Stockholm.

Biography

An MC perfectly styled for the age of Future and Desiigner, Bronx rapper A Boogie wit da Hoodie hit the scene in 2016 with a funkier version of trap rap. Releasing music on his own Highbridge the Label imprint, he quickly found success with his debut mixtape, Artist, which reached the Billboard Top 100. Later signing with Atlantic, he scored big with the triple-platinum single "Drowning" in 2017 and topped the rap chart with his debut full-length, The Bigger Artist.

Born Artist Dubose in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, Boogie took inspiration from Kanye West and 50 Cent and began rapping during his teenage years. After spending some time in Florida, where be recorded his first songs, he returned home to New York in 2015 and founded Highbridge the Label with fellow rapper Quincy "QP" Acheampong. In March, he dropped his debut mixtape, Artist, which yielded the platinum singles "My S**t" and "Jungle." Just one month later, he dropped "Bag on Me" featuring Don Q. With a Meek Mill and DJ Khaled co-sign soon after and the Highbridge the Label: The Takeover, Vol. 1 mixtape released in May, the Atlantic label signed a deal with Highbridge and issued the singles "Bando" and "Timeless." The TBA EP followed in October.

At the start of 2017, Boogie was featured in XXL's Freshman Class feature. Later the same year, he released his debut full-length, The Bigger Artist, which was packed with guests, including appearances from Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Kodak Black, and Robin Thicke. In early 2018, Boogie featured on 6ix9ine's hit single "Keke" alongside Fetty Wap, then returned in June with his second EP, International Artist, another guest-heavy release that included J Alvarez, Jessie Reyez, and many more. His second full-length album, Hoodie SZN, arrived at the end of the year.

Although his debut album Here Comes the Fuzz (2003) failed to make an impact on the charts, his second album Version (2007) reached number two in the UK and included three top 10 singles. This earned him a Brit Award for Best British Male Solo Artist in 2008. His third studio album, Record Collection, was released on 27 September 2010, peaking at number two in the UK. He is also a member of Silk City with Diplo.

In 2014, Ronson achieved his first UK and US number one single with "Uptown Funk," which featured vocals from Bruno Mars. The song earned Ronson the 2015 Brit Award for British Single of the Year, and the 2016 Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. His fourth studio album, Uptown Special, was released in January 2015, and became his first UK number one album and also peaked at number 5 in the US.

Ronson produced "Cold Shoulder" on Adele's first album, 19. He received acclaim for producing Amy Winehouse's album Back to Black, for which he won the Grammy Awards for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, Best Pop Vocal Album and Record of the Year for the single "Rehab". He has won Record of the Year twice, in 2008 as a producer and in 2016 as a performing artist. One of the most successful musicians in contemporary British popular culture, Ronson appeared on Debrett's 2017 list of the most influential people in Britain.

Biography

Zara Maria Larsson (born 16 December 1997) is a Swedish singer-songwriter. At the age of 10, she achieved national fame in Sweden for winning the 2008 season of the talent show Talang, the Swedish version of British TV's Got Talent. Four years later, in 2012, Larsson signed with the record label TEN Music Group and released her debut EP album Introducing in January 2013. The single "Uncover" topped the music charts in Scandinavia: Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. In February 2013, "Uncover" was certified Platinum by Universal Music Sweden. In July 2013, her EP Introducing was certified 3× Platinum in the country. Larsson signed a three-year contract with Epic Records in the United States in April 2013. In 2016, she performed at the opening and closing ceremonies for UEFA Euro in France.

Four years after her first album, Larsson's debut international album So Good was released on 17 March 2017 and entered at number seven on the UK Albums Chart. It produced eight singles: "Lush Life", "Never Forget You", "Ain't My Fault", "I Would Like", "So Good", "Don't Let Me Be Yours", "Only You", and "Symphony", a collaboration with Clean Bandit. Almost all the album's singles reached the top 15 in the UK. "Never Forget You" peaked in the United States at number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100, giving Larsson and English singer MNEK their first entries on the chart. Similarly, "Symphony" became Larsson's first number one single on the UK Singles Chart.

In October 2018, Larsson released "Ruin My Life", the lead single from her upcoming third album.

Biography

Lauv
New York-based singer/songwriter Ari Leff, aka Lauv, makes yearning, electronic-based, R&B-influenced pop. He came to wide prominence in 2017 with his breakout hit "I Like Me Better."

Interested in music from a young age, the San Francisco-born Leff took piano and viola lessons as a child before picking up the guitar around age 11. During high school, he played in several bands and studied jazz before discovering electronic music production. However, it was while attending N.Y.U. as a music tech major in 2014 that a bad breakup found Leff on his own and digging deep into his writing and recording process. Out of this period came the song "The Other," co-written with songwriter/instrumentalist Michael Matosic. Released under Leff's stage name Lauv (inspired by the Latvian "lauve" or lion), the song went viral after gaining blog attention and peaked at number three on blog aggregator Hype Machine. In 2015 he returned with his debut EP, Lost in the Light, which featured "The Other."

More tracks followed, including 2015's "Reforget" and 2016's "Question," featuring Travis Mills. In 2017 Lauv headed his own Late Nights, Deep Talks tour and premiered the official video for "The Other," along with a series of remixes. Released in May of that year, Lauv's single "I Like Me Better" became a breakout international hit and was later featured on his self-titled second EP that October. The single was also included on his full-length debut, 2018's I Met You When I Was 18, which also featured the singles "Paranoid" and "Bracelet."

Troye Sivan
Troye Sivan Mellet (/trɔɪ sɪˈvɑːn/ TROY sih-VAHN; born 5 June 1995), known professionally as Troye Sivan, is a South African singer, songwriter, actor, and YouTube personality. After gaining popularity as a singer on YouTube and in Australian talent competitions, Sivan signed with EMI Australia, a Universal Music Australia label, in 2013 and released his debut extended play, TRXYE (2014), which peaked at number 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Its lead single, "Happy Little Pill", reached number 10 on Australian music charts. In 2015, he released his second extended play Wild followed by his debut studio album Blue Neighbourhood, whose lead single "Youth" became Sivan's first single to enter the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 23. Sivan has also earned two number-one singles on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

As an actor, Sivan portrayed the younger version of the titular character in the 2009 X-Men film X-Men Origins: Wolverine and starred as the title character in the Spud film trilogy. As a YouTube personality, Sivan used to upload video blogs regularly and, as of 2016, has over 4 million subscribers and over 241 million total views. His video, "The 'Boyfriend' Tag", with fellow vlogger Tyler Oakley earned them a Teen Choice Award in the "Choice Web Collaboration" category. In October 2014, Time named Sivan as one of the "25 Most Influential Teens of 2014".

Biography

Like the music of her mother and father -- Neneh Cherry and Cameron McVey -- Mabel McVey's first releases weren't easy to classify, but were rooted in R&B with a level of maturity beyond her age. Born in Spain and raised in London and Sweden, McVey showed a deep interest in music during early childhood and studied music production. Her parents didn't know that she was writing music until she was 16. Before she turned 20, she released her debut single, the independently released "Know Me Better" -- a moody, yearning piece of breakbeat soul. Signed to Polydor, she had her second single, "My Boy My Town," out by the end of 2015. Shortly after that, she was nominated in the BBC Sound of 2016 poll (won by Jack Garratt). In 2017, she delivered the mixtape Ivy to Roses, which included the single "Finders Keepers," featuring Kojo Funds. - iTunes
