Hey Noah
Absolutely stunning #1 for this month, possibly my favourite of your #1's this year Runnin is such a fantastic song and I really hope it makes the top 10 officially this week as it deserves to! This is the first Naughty Boy song I've liked since Wonder and the production reminds me so much of Heaven by Emeli Sande which I adore! Beyoncé has sounded this good since the Sasha Fierce era for me and this is the first I've heard of Arrow Benjamin and he has an amazing voice. Already one of the best tracks this year Leave A Trace is stunning so great to see that still doing so well here, listened to most the album the other day and it is probably my favourite CHVRCHES album yet! It flows so well and all the songs are so good Fantastic to see massive climbs for Hailee and Shawn here Really hope both take off in the UK soon considering that they are doing quite well on spotify! Love Myself is easily one of the best pop songs this year and Stitches is also great Good For You remains great, I still like body on me but I think I prefer Do It Again now (great to see that climbing here) and I still have to check out the other JoJo tracks! Downtown is great and glad to see it finally taking off and Run Away With Me gets better on every single listen for me, easily one of the best this year and such an incredible 11/10 track Magnets is also good and my favourite from Disclosure this era and I need to check out new VV as I adore some of her stuff (especially shark in the water ). I like On My Mind but I'm still not too sure on it, shame as I usually adore Ellie The first 10 seconds and the bit between the 2nd and last chorus are easily the best parts of the song for me but the rest doesn't flow too well, but it is starting to grow on me at least! On the other hand Love Me Like You was completely instant and possibly already my favourite Little Mix song. It reminds me so much of Black Heart by Stooshe which I adore and is an absolutely fantastic song, hope to see it climb higher here next month Fantastic to see Wildest Dreams enter here, such a beautiful song with one of the best videos in a long time Easily in my top 2 from 1989 and so happy it is a single I also like Pink's new one but I haven't gone back to it that much since my first few listens. High By The Beach is still great so yay to see it break the top 40 here! Have you heard Honeymoon? And Alive is utterly stunning, I probably prefer Chandelier and Elastic Heart but another fantastic song with powerhouse vocals from Sia Amazing chart |

Hiya Noah
Shame Runnin' is a little bit boring as a song itself because it is one of the best vocal performances I can remember in a long time, both vocalist are fantastic, there is really not one shake or bad note or anything. So happy it managed to climb in the top 10 officially, Beyoncé seems to be lacking in those recently which is a massive shame. Not big on Downtown at all really, just sounds like a mess of ten different songs with painful vocals in the chorus and a bit of Uptown Funk thrown in their for good measure to make it extra bad, getting scarily close to the UK top 10 now so let's hope Adele releases that single out of the blue Really enjoying On My Mind at the moment, it works so well as a response to Don't. I really like the instrumental in the chorus too, quite an interesting little tune. Gutted to see such dislike towards it on Buzzjack, same with the Uk charts really, would've liked it to be a little bit higher by now, it's stronger than Anything Could Happen for me and 100% Burn. Fallen so in love with Love Me Like You this past week. I'm a big fan of musical theatre in general, Stooshe and Christmas and this is literally a mix of all those things, it would slot right into something like Grease sonically and it has a real Christmas feel to it to. I'll be heartbroken if it does a Body On Me and doesn't break the top 20. I do like Alive but I admit, I do have to just turn down the volume a little during those voice cracks. My dad summed it up brilliantly, 'who's this girl shouting' he said, It does feel really emotional and I think it works in that way but it does just give me a kind of bad chill down my body but I still like it, not sure what keeps me going back, it's an odd one Fab stuff! Also, not sure if you've seen the Nothing but Thieves album artwork yet but I think it's gorgeous to look at and I don't really have anyone to tell |

Hi Mango! Ah yeah, Beyoncé sounds awesome on 'Runnin'' (but everything about the song is pretty much flawless to me). Ooh I'm delighted you're liking the Kwabs album, and particularly 'Look Over Your Shoulder'! That track stands out to me a lot but I'd thought I was alone with that one based on comments in the album thread and elsewhere. Great to see it appreciated. Shame 'Downtown' just missed out on top 10 but I very much doubt #11 will be its peak, so nothing to worry about. I adore some of the lyrics in the verses. <3 Interesting that 'On My Mind' is growing on you as I think its doing the opposite for me and I haven't even heard it that much. :/ Indeed, the 'Trip Switch' chorus is quite a moment, and yeah I'm a big fan of 'Wake Up Call' too. Fingers crossed their upcoming album does something. I instantly preferred 'Love Me Like You' to 'Black Magic' too...and 60s girlband/doo-wop (or whatever) isn't exactly my thing . I still think they're at their best with 'Move' and the style of other stuff on their last album, but they're a lot of fun as a group and I'm looking forward to seeing this track doing well over the coming months. 'Wildest Dreams' is excellent - a real classy, slick affair. It's probably my third favourite '1989' single currently, after 'Blank Space' and 'Style', but that could change. Thanks. |

Hi And
WD on making charts for a year now I see you've upgraded to GIFs, how original How's he running underwater like that anyway? You may be pleased to know Eyes Shut was one of my last-night-of-Plug discoveries! The video had just been released and the end-of-the-world nature of it was quite apt considering we were anticipating Plug's demise as we watched. Best of all, I liked the song and wasn't underwhelmed the way I was with King or Shine! Potentially going to challenge Take Shelter as my favorite! Wow! Stitches at #12, you're no better than the Hot 100 right now And letting Justin Bieber jump right ahead of Shawn gahh </3 Really liking On My Mind so far, I'm definitely not here for other people's shade toward it. I haven't paid any attention to the lyrics though so will need to focus on that next time, apparently there's something noteworthy about them Wildest Dreams to climb please! Which reminds me I still haven't experienced Out Of The Woods in its proper context :///////// Great entries for Rationale and Big Data/Joywave, would they have been your 18 and 15??? Fuel To The Fire is just YES, isn't it? I decided against an essay in the end but hopefully that was enjoyable enough Nice chart, bye And! |

And Alive is utterly stunning, I probably prefer Chandelier and Elastic Heart but another fantastic song with powerhouse vocals from Sia Amazing chart Hey UV (OMG @ this essay )! Yay for Naughty Boy making the official top 10 *.* Ooh, I quite liked 'Wonder' as well and yeah 'Runnin'' is very Emeli Sandé-esque, unsurprisingly. In fact, my brother (whose knowledge of music is quite limited) asked me if it was an Emeli song when it was on the radio earlier . I love Arrow's vocals too - just an all-round awesome track in every way. <3 That's good to hear you approve so highly of the CHVRCHES album and only makes me more excited to listen for myself soon! I've high hopes based on everything from them so far anyway. Yep, Hailee and Shawn slaying the UK would be great to see. Both are acts I wouldn't generally be interested in much but they've really struck gold with their respective singles. The other two JoJo tracks are worth checking out but pale in comparison to 'Save My Soul' IMO. I think 'Magnets' has become my favourite of Disclosure's new stuff too but I'm yet to hear the album in full. I'd recommend V V's 'Lazarus' as well as 'Shift' (but again I haven't heard the album yet). Ah, I remember being a fan of 'Shark In The Water' too - need to revisit that. My favourite of hers is 'The Apple', and it'll have to take something very special for it to be overtaken. <333 I kind of feel the same about 'On My Mind' - something's stopping me from really enjoying it, though I love the verses. And I agree with you about 'Love Me Like You' too - made a great initial impression, and repeated listens along with the excellent video have only helped it grow (so it's a fairly safe bet to climb here)! 'Wildest Dreams' is another that'll get a boost next month I'd say. I agree about the video - it really enhances the song and made me pay more attention to the lyrics. I haven't heard 'Honeymoon' yet (sorry !) but I'm determined to get around to it very soon! I'm not completely convinced on 'Alive' and would certainly put it behind her big hits from the last album as well. Thanks for all the comments! Hiya Noah Shame Runnin' is a little bit boring as a song itself because it is one of the best vocal performances I can remember in a long time, both vocalist are fantastic, there is really not one shake or bad note or anything. Also, not sure if you've seen the Nothing but Thieves album artwork yet but I think it's gorgeous to look at and I don't really have anyone to tell Hi Josh! While I don't find 'Runnin'' boring in the slightest, that's interesting what you say about the vocal performances. Struggling to think of a recent hit song with more impressive vocals so I'd have to agree with you on that! And yeah, it's nice to see Beyoncé still getting top 10s after all the attention being on her albums for the last few years. The chorus of 'Downtown' took me a bit of getting used to (as did the disjointedness of the entire song, but to a lesser extent). I think you should give it another shot though, Josh - the verses and video are majorly entertaining. I've seen it said that 'On My Mind' is obviously a response to 'Don't' and works perfectly etc...but is everyone ignoring the lyrics of the chorus?! The verses are completely fitting though, and are really catchy with it. I'm not surprised it hasn't caught on as well as Ellie's past lead singles - it's a little awkward as a song and neither particularly accessible or inspired/interesting. 'Anything Could Happen' is soooooo much better IMO! Haha, Stooshe + Christmas + musical theatre is a pretty good description of 'Love Me Like You'! I really feel its festiveness will help ensure it blows up properly over the coming months, with building airplay and big promo, so I wouldn't worry if I were you. That's interesting re: your feeling (and your dad's ) towards 'Alive'. I wasn't keen for ages but the unpleasant sounding vocals on parts began to matter less and less the more I listened. It's pretty good but I imagine I'll tire of it soon and it won't hold up against Sia's recent singles. Thanks! And I hadn't seen the Nothing But Thieves artwork but definitely agree with you . Hopefully it'll mean more sales from consumers who appreciate Hi And WD on making charts for a year now I see you've upgraded to GIFs, how original How's he running underwater like that anyway? Hi! Haha, thanks! Well considering the ~monthliness~ of your chart inspired mine in the first place, I thought it was only right to borrow another aspect of it (Nah, truth is I didn't think a random picture of Naughty Boy would really do the song or its appeal justice and that part of the video ties in nicely with my subtitle etc., so it just felt right this time. I'll downgrade back next month)! Oh and Illuminati would explain that ofc. That's great that you like 'Eyes Shut', and yeah I'd imagine the apocalyptic video would have suited the occasion perfectly (</3). I remember you saying you're not too keen on Olly's vocals in general but they're a lot softer on 'Eyes Shut' (and 'Take Shelter', come to think of it) so it's interesting that those tracks appeal more to you. Erm I am automatically better than the Hot 100 because I don't change the criteria of my chart every five minutes (but yeah, poor Shawn getting overshadowed by Justin, though I think the tables will turn next month ). Well if you're not here for 'On My Mind' shade, don't (omg 'Don't' lololol :/) read my other replies in this post . I do like it a lot overall, I'm just a little underwhelmed. 'Wildest Dreams' will very likely climb next month - a pretty gorgeous song that's grown a lot on me. Lol that's okay, even I haven't experienced it properly in aaaaages! Must find myself a reason to walk briskly out of darkened woodland sometime soon~ Rationale and Big Data would have likely done very well among the Desbuandese, but I never got around to listening to the full final/your semi so I can't say for sure. Will have to do that soon too . Indeed, 'Fuel To The Fire' is utterly awesome <3. Would love if it had been my own entry, and actually Rationale was a potential of mine a few months ago with 'Fast Lane', so I wish I'd checked up on their newer material! Haha, that was long enough thanks, especially following the other two above! Need a lie down after all that tbh. Cheers Jord! QUOTE this might get you a bit more excited... the video has smoke in it and Fire!! laugh.gif also the song has a rocky undertone to it wink.gif |
