Sunday Chart Predictions
Predicting the 08/03 to 14/03 chart

Y&Y king of castle or Marlon to chase them piece by piece?
We're into the third month and Sound of 2015 winners Years & Years are set to get 2015's third number one with 'King'. Also new to the Top 10 should be Marlon Roudette's 'When the Beat Drops Out' whilst Alex Adair's 'Make Me Feel Better' should make the Top 20. Imagine Dragons could be looking at a possible re-entry with 'Demons' following the performance from a contestant on The Voice UK whilst Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds may score a fourth Top 40 hit if 'The Ballad of Mighty I' can climb in due to Noel's performance on Graham Norton Show. Furthermore, Madonna's 'Living for Love' may benefit from the release of its physical CD.

In the albums, Noel's band should take top spot with second album Chasing Yesterday - self-titled debut album also hit #1 back in 2011, taking Noel's overall total of #1s (including Oasis) to 10. Hoping to make the Top 10 is Kelly Clarkson's Piece By Piece, The Overtones' Sweet Soul Music and The Shires' Brave, with further entries coming from Steven Wilson, Jon Hopkins, RuPaul, Purity Ring, Ghostpoet and Welcome to Night Vale.

I can't believe we are into March and King is going to be the second #1 of 2015, as Mark Ronson dates back to last year.

Posted by: Hadji 3rd March 2015, 10:19 AM

Well 2015 need to make it up and increase on more one-week number ones. They'll have no chance of beating 2014's record of 37 number ones

First of all, the record's for 2000, with 42 number ones. Secondly, this year we can break the record for fewest number ones (held by 1992 with 12)

Also, that year and 1971 are the only years to go without a one-week #1

Fingers crossed Marlon Roudette can go top 5/top 10. Brilliant single that.

Wanting Marlon and Adair to do well here, as well as King to sell +100k this week cheer.gif
Also wouldn't mind a top 40 re-entry for Demons biggrin.gif

Mint Royale @MintRoyale · 29m 29 minutes ago
But Noel Gallagher’s album is more impressive, big old sales of 48,635 so far.

Posted by: gooddelta 3rd March 2015, 01:50 PM

That is impressive for Noel, he has a large fanbase still. Liam's band did next to nothing in comparison.

Posted by: Jade 3rd March 2015, 01:54 PM

Yeah Beady Eye's albums both missed number one, although both went top three, unlike the (soon to be) two no.1's for Noel! Fantastic sales for him, great to see the demand is still there; I will add to that total myself sometime this week. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Mango 3rd March 2015, 01:56 PM

Brilliant sales for Noel, I did actually believe he could come close to 100k!

Great news about Noel! I hope Ballad of the Mighty I can go top 40 this week, I love that song.

Does anyone know what his first week sales of the last album were? I have a feeling it was about 120 K - he was up against Matt Cardle I remember. I don't know what it sold overall but it seemed to have a good run.

Royale Mint was correct about the big Y&Y sales ohmy.gif but I think a lot of the 40k is from pre-orders thinking.gif still I can see them getting 130-150k cheer.gif
Marlon next in line for an unlucky #3 with two massive tracks above it sad.gif I doubt he'll catch up and streaming will doubtfully help him. Hozier to overtake Rihanna please rolleyes.gif
Even better an idea is for Alex to overtake them both, but I doubt that will happen sadly cry.gif
Hoping Demons doesn't slip too much later in the week. I know it's been around the chart for a while but it is a very good song cool2.gif
Also wanting Style to stay top 25 and possibly top 20 on sales thinking.gif

Obviously they don't seem like much in comparison to the number 1, but I'm really impressed with those album sales for Kelly. I'm sure Heartbeat Songwill sneak back into the top 10 by Sunday too, her streaming is really kicking off...

Unless 'Pray To God' manages to climb past #43 at some point, it unbelievably runs the risk of becoming Calvin's lowest peaking single ever ohmy.gif (the #43 was for 'Merrymaking At My Place' in 2007). That would be quite a travesty seen as it's arguably one of his best ever songs.

New releases are always higher on the Tuesday mids than iTunes indicates. There's some reason for it which I can never remember but the answer is essentially 'pre-orders' yes. Rihanna will be back ahead by Sunday anyway (though I hope Marlon can hang onto the top 5).

Terrific start for Years & Years, hopefully 'King' will take off on streaming to help it well over the 100k chart sales mark~ wub.gif

Ecstatic that Marlon Roudette is looking good for a top6 finish this week cheer.gif ~ just hope Alex Adair can hold onto his top 10 berth! biggrin.gif

Are album streams being counted in the early midweeks, Steven Wilson at 6, impressive for him but the lbum isn't streaming so will affect his position on Sunday

I'm surprised Ellie is so far back - I'd have thought her huge streaming would have seen her much closer.

Streaming peaks on Friday and Saturday, whereas sales (particularly of new releases) peaks on the Sunday. I'm therefore quite sure that she'll close the gap slightly by Sunday.

Great to see Marlon Roulette finally achieving a much deserving hit. Really impressed with Noel Gallagher's sales already,i was a casual Oasis fan but always preferred the singles that Noel was lead on, loved his debut album and i will purchasing the new album later in the week. I know sales are low but am happy to see Kelly Clarkson add another top 10 album to her name.

Could i ask for any information on Take That please.

If we get any sales info, sales are not always guaranteed, top 5 sales for singles and albums will be added at some point.

Come on Kelly! Stay top 10 with 'Heartbeat Song' and staying at #6 for the album would be wonderful <3

Posted by: ¡bré! 4th March 2015, 04:21 PM

#21 for Kanye off one day of sales, fantastic! Hope he can finish top 20 for the week then, I expect his sales will drop off rapidly by the end of the week though so I won't hold my breath. Pleasing to see Marlon still in the top 3 for today as well, and Alex Adair still as high as #8.

32k copies ahead! ohmy.gif it is going to sell BUCKETS cool2.gif

Fingers crossed Marlon keeps off Thinking Out Loud pt 2 45s off #3 and preferably Hozier above it as well. Poor Alex Adair though cry.gif I hope he makes a top 10 thinking.gif

Good to see Kelly isn't falling too fast, also great to see Style still climbing, I can't see it go top 10 for definite but top 15 is possible.
Demons should keep top 30 this week, and hopefully A&I stay top 25 as they have fallen since yesterday (should've kept the Robin Schulz remix as the official release tongue.gif)

So is Bloodstream at #35 the one with Rudimental, or is it Radio 1 error?

Shame to see Disciples fall. At least it's not that big a fall as some others (for example) but doubtfully he'll stay top 40 sad.gif

In 41-100:
drama.gif at Sheeran climbing again. Doesn't seem Pray To God is going to get top 40 even cry.gif cry.gif
Cassy O' on the climb again, can't see it do any better than LTTM though. Great to see The Veronicas in top 100 update but that's not going to be top 100 combined officially I'm afraid banghead.gif

Why on earth is I See Fire still around? laugh.gif
One Last Time to smash the top 20 AT LEAST, and not semi-flop like LMH did unsure.gif
Nice to see Omi re-enter cheer.gif (pun intended kink.gif)

40,509 My December (#2, 2007)
39,858 All I Ever Wanted (#3, 2009)
29,233 Stronger (#5, 2011)
20,624 Greatest Hits: Chapter One (#26, 2012)
17,631 Breakaway (#10, 2005)
4,981 Wrapped In Red (#65, 2013)

Not sure about Thankful but it debuted at #95 so probably her slowest starter.

Posted by: Jonjo 4th March 2015, 05:08 PM

So her most successful studio albums since 'Breakaway' (not including the Xmas album) start off slower than the least successful ones ('Stronger' has sold more than AIEW, right? laugh.gif) PBP will break that tradition though unfortunately. Still loving this album though.

Posted by: Jay ジ 4th March 2015, 05:28 PM

Funny to see 'My December' as her highest first week sale (and her highest peaking album). A pity that era didn't develop into greater success.

Posted by: FleetSeb 4th March 2015, 06:21 PM

My December is still Kelly's greatest album IMO - if her label had been more supportive and it had been a success I think subsequent albums would have been very different. Although Stronger did have some great tracks too. For me (Thankful aside as I don't really count that) All I Ever Wanted is her weakest and My December is her strongest.

All I Ever Wanted had some killer tracks on it. I'd at least say Stronger, Thankful and this new one are weaker. (although the new one is better than I was expecting)

Rihanna haters *rolls eyes* Can you not?

You may not love this song but its obvious it deserves AT LEAST a top 3 peak. Lack of streaming screwed it over until now... But regardless, it is a huge success and has been holding top 3 on iTunes pretty much since release 6 weeks ago. I hardly think Marlon Roudette deserves a higher placing.

Posted by: sammy01 5th March 2015, 12:24 AM

The peak of 45S doesn't matter as it is obvious Rihanna was never bothered about where it peaked. She'd be sat on a #1 right now had she held it back in the UK and had it on pre-order for 4 weeks and had sales and streaming all impact in one week.

Lower sales for Y&Y than I had anticipated, judging by the lead on iTunes etc..

Hoping Kelly can do 12k in the albums at least.

Posted by: MrIndependent 5th March 2015, 09:40 AM

Years and Years don't have a streaming advantage yet. Their streaming units will be much more impressive next week.

Posted by: Mart!n 5th March 2015, 09:53 AM

#1 singles into their second weeks probably gain at least 20k+ in stream sales got to take that into account as usually first week sales don't hardly have any stream sales, at the moment Y&Y are only 2% on streams for this week. I should imagine Y&Y can at least hold on for a second week, a third week is possible, unless Rihanna can climb that week, but I think it be too late by than.

You got to remember the #1 act will have the advantage of added streams the following week, unless a new release is high on pre-orders. I think that's how it works.

FYI, I really like most of Rihanna's tracks (Disturbia, Russian Roulette, Only Girl, We Found Love, Diamonds, Stay, Unfaithful and Princess Of China are all great songs) but FourFiveSeconds is really quite tedious to be honest. "Uptown Funk" to take its first fall of more than one place then this week. Unless of course it is close between Marlon, Hozier and Ronson in which case streaming could give it the edge and bump it up to #4 (yes, I know Hozier's streaming is strong too).

10. Kelly Clarkson - Heartbeat Song (#10 Weds)
11. David Guetta feat. Emeli Sandé - What I Did For Love (#11 Weds)
12. Maroon 5 - Sugar (#12 Weds)
30. Taylor Swift - Blank Space (#30 Weds)
40. Madonna - Living For Love (#38 Weds)
95. Britney Spears - Everytime (#76 Weds)

I'm assuming #6 is Earned It, #8 is Hold Back The River, #13 is Ayo and #15 is Gravity, but I don't know for sure so I won't put them above.

EDIT: I just noticed the sum of the positions was 117. In a quite amusing coincidence, today the oldest living person celebrated their 117th birthday, the first person to do so in the 21st century.

Possibly for Y&Y. That seems a bit ambitious for Noel - if he sells the same amount he did between today's update and yesterdays (7.5k), it would take him to 89k and I think his sales are only going to slip further. 80k+ is definitely do able.

Hozier to take number 4 - I'd laugh if he kept Rihanna and her band at 4 smile.gif

EDIT: I just noticed the sum of the positions was 117. In a quite amusing coincidence, today the oldest living person celebrated their 117th birthday, the first person to do so in the 21st century.

And some people say that some of my links are contrived laugh.gif

well there was always a chance Madge had clung on in...

Just to summarise at the bottom of the 40, Disciples are at #39 some recovery there, All About The Bass #40 and Clean Bandit are still lingering in the 36-40 bracket, I reckon Madonna could be at #41, I shall know more later, if we get any sales this afternoon.

Top 10 albums no change from yesterday

Posted by: Taylor Jago 6th March 2015, 12:19 PM

Recap:

Singles:
9. Kelly Clarkson - Heartbeat Song (#10 Weds, #10 Thurs)
39. Disciples - They Don't Know (#40 Weds)
40. Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass (#39 Weds)
44. Madonna - Living For Love (#38 Weds, #40 Thurs)

No albums so far

Was hoping that "Pray To God" would make the top 40. Shocked to see "All Day" stranded in the top 20. Thought it would be top 10 seeing as it's #5 on iTunes and it's also available to stream. Capital also need that song on their playlist

Posted by: Mart!n 6th March 2015, 03:15 PM

Top 5 sales added, with the update.

Kelly Clarkson's album on sales of 10.9k

I'm off for a cup of tea and biccie

Friday Update
1 Years & Years - King (76.4K) * no 100k then cry.gif
3 Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney - FourFive Seconds (39.6k) banghead.gif
4 Hozier - Take Me To Church (34.6k)
5 Marlon Roudette - When The Beat Drops Out (33.1k) *
10 Alex Adair - Make Me Feel Better * cry.gif
20 Taylor Swift - Style cheer.gif

My ideal #3 #4 #5 chart would've been the other way around laugh.gif
Looking unlikely Adair will make the top 10 cry.gif which just doesn't seem right nocheer.gif
The only good news for me today is that Style is still climbing cheer.gif

Posted by: Doctor Blind 6th March 2015, 04:02 PM

Looking at the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Marlon Roudette slide to #7 by Sunday. Years & Years on for just under 100K, but they may just sneak over if their streaming continues to blossom (up to #10 on the Spotify chart, and registering around 370K streams so far this week).

I would so much rather it was Alex Adair smashing it at #1 not Y&Y. Infinitely better track.
