I guess I'll open this now. biggrin.gif

As with my previous countdowns, I'll start the top 100 songs on New Years Day but before then I shall do a recap of last year's chart, the top 5 artists of 2017 and a look at the albums I have listened to this year.

Last year's playlist:

2016 Re-Cap

10. The Weeknd ft Daft Punk - Starboy

Does it hold up?: Yeah. This still absolutely bangs. I would probably rank it in about the same position if I were to redo last years chart. Although I'm still not sure what Daft Punk did in this, sounds nothing like them.

2016 Re-Cap

9. Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons with Logic & Ty Dolla $ign ft X Ambassadors - Sucker For Pain

Does it hold up?: I haven't listened to this as much this year as I would have anticipated. It's not quite as forgettable as Suicide Squad though. laugh.gif Overall, it remains a decent tune to listen to and Logic's verse is still a highlight.

Not a fan of either of those oops but I did like Lush Life last year so interested to see how that's held up for you!

Not too surprised you don't like the last 2. Sucker For Pain in particular seems to be a pretty disliked track in general. laugh.gif

2016 Re-Cap

8. Zara Larsson - Lush Life

Does it hold up?: This has the disadvantage of impacting right at the start of 2016 so it's at least 6 months older than some of the other songs here which is probably why this is the one I have probably re-visited the least from this top 10. I also wasn't fond of the album which probably also had an effect on that.
Although I'm listening to this again now and it is still a great pop song and the best thing she's made.

2016 Re-Cap

7. Fifth Harmony - That's My Girl

Does it hold up?: I've hardly listened to this at all this year. I think the feeling surrounding 5H has just been a bit down since Camila left. Although they have still managed to stay successful in my chart this year (Angel reached #1) they haven't reached the heights they had before. Releasing their weakest single as their first as a 4-piece certainly didn't help. Judging from this year, this was way too high in my countdown.

6. Ariana Grande ft Lil Wayne - Let Me Love You

Does it hold up?: Easily, I've listened to Dangerous Woman even more this year than I did last year. laugh.gif This is my favourite Ariana video and I probably would have ranked this my #1 of 2016 if it had been pushed as a single.

5. D.R.A.M. ft Lil Yachty - Brocolli

Does it hold up?: Yes. Never before has a song been able to put me in a good mood as much as this one. D.R.A.M.'s enthusiasm is so infectious. Lil Yachty does sound like's on a different song but that just adds to the charm. It's a shame none of the follow ups have quite matched this.

4. Fifth Harmony ft Ty Dolla $ign - Work From Home

Does it hold up?: Yeah, although I haven't listened to this year anywhere as near as much as any of the others in the top 5. This is still by far the best thing they've ever released for me. I love Camila's little solo bit at the end. I remember this was first released on my 18th birthday last year so that means it's always going to be memorable for me.

That's My Girl is one of my 5H faves cheer.gif

Also, I wish if Ariana wanted to release one of the remaining duets last year I wish it was Let Me Love You getting a full release at least instead of Everyday (overall shoulda been Greedy or Bad Decisions).

Work From Home is good too.

Hi Lewis, loving this little throwback idea to see how your faves have held up cheer.gif

Work From Home definitely still holds up for me too, what an utter party anthem! I think I do still slightly prefer to listen to Worth It and All In My Head (Flex) so it's not quite my favourite but their singles discography is looking pretty great now - a shame they haven't had much commercial success this era as I loved Down too cry.gif

I bet not many people on Buzzjack would have Broccoli that high so it's nice to see something a bit different laugh.gif I didn't really get it at first and it took months to grow on me but I absolutely love it now and still enjoy revisiting it pretty regularly. I would say it's one of my favourite US rap hits of recent years, a shame it never crossed over to the UK sad.gif

Yeah, all 3 of them would have been better single choices than Everyday.

Glad you like it biggrin.gif
I did like Down but I felt it was a large step down from the 7/27 singles so I'm not too disappointed it flopped. Angel & He Like That are bangers though, they should have done well.
Broccoli is certainly not a Buzzjack favourite. laugh.gif It deserved to be a hit in the UK, I think it would have been if it was released this year.

2016 Re-Cap

3. Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman

Does it hold up?: Of course, this should have really been my EOY #1 last year. It ended up as my most listened to song of the year by a massive distance, I listened to it more on release day than some of the other songs from my list in the whole year. Seeing this performed as the finale during her tour made me appreciate it even more.

2. Ariana Grande - Into You

Does it hold up?: Duh, what an amazing song, pure pop perfection! Always a highlight during the album, this would have made a very deserving EOY #1 also.

Hey Lewis !

Yasss at you ending up saying Dangerous Woman should've been the EOY #1 in the end. Alongside Side to Side & Love Me Harder, I think that might be in my top three singles of hers. I've always found Into You a little overrated though tbh, it is a bop but the chorus sounds a bit clunky to me? :/ laugh.gif
