for those who don't watch, the show is based upon a true story of a 16 year-old girl called rae earl during the mid-90s. she gets released from a mental home and gets mixed up with a popular group of teens, experiencing what it's like to be one of them while still receiving therapy, and having a strict mother on her back 24/7. it's very far into the series now that it's actually the last episode next week, but I LOVE this show, so funny. I can relate to rae so much. anyone else loving this? |

It's amazing. A bit like Skins but with better music and characters who aren't drawn like cartoons. I have SO MUCH LOVE for Rae's mum. I thought Rae and Finn was a bit of an eye roller at first but now I'm kind of willing it to happen. The rave episode was the best yet.
Also - "mouth to south resuscitation". AMAZING. |

I love this. So many funny moments with Rae and her mum. Really want Rae and Finn together now.
At first I thought the illustration bits were annoying but I've grown to like it as part of the show. The music is amazing. Plus Archie. |

One of my favourite things on TV at the moment - mainly for its 1996 soundtrack of course, but you really root for Rae to triumph. The finale next Monday will be a must-watch!

So hilarious, really reminding me of some cracking tracks that I used to heaar on the radio alot too! Parts get me upset, but then Rae says something to get me giggling again, it's like a rollercoaster.

I'm totally supposed to be researching how NFS Grundtvig's theories have had an impact on xenophobia in present-day Denmark, but instead I've just watched all the episodes of this. Such a great show. Both hilarious and a tad depressing. The accents. The music. <3 Can't believe there's only one episode left.

Oh my god! This was made into a book and I remember reading it! I loved reading it and I thought that it was one of the best books that I'd ever read at that time. For anyone who wants to know the rest of the plot, please don't hesitate to PM me!
EDIT: Oh, this particular book was set in the mid-1980s when Rae was a teenager. Still, if anyone wants to know what happened in that book, feel free to ask me! This post has been edited by Grieflemore: Feb 16 2013, 07:26 PM |

"Made into a book"? It's adapted from a book. And I imagine people who want to know what happens will just watch the last episode.

"Made into a book"? It's adapted from a book. And I imagine people who want to know what happens will just watch the last episode. It's a real-life story and it was made into a book. And I edited my post by saying that it was a different book and said that if anyone wanted the plot, they could just ask me. |

Do you even watch the show? Rae is 16. It's adapted from the book, they just changed the setting from the '80s to the '90s.

I'm an emotional wreck after the last episode of the series, so happy for rae and the scene at kester's house was really inspiring. I reckon this will have been the best tv show of 2013, just so brilliant. thrilled that it's being renewed for a second series!

As great as it was, using 4 Non Blondes as the series closing song??? That's 1994 not 1996!
Should have gone with "Tonight, Tonight" by Smashing Pumpkins, "Beautiful Ones" by Suede (think they'd already used this) or even "Champagne Supernova" which they used right before. Tsk. |

Lovely finale! And a fantastic TV series. When I first heard about it a few months ago I never thought I'd like it because I never really liked Skins or Misfits. Really happy that it has been given a second series. I've not read the book, so I'm not sure if it just continues or are they going with something completely new?

Have any of you guys been watching Series 2? I've been enjoying it so much! Three episodes have aired on E4 so far, while four episodes are currently available on 4od (episodes premiere on 4od a week prior to airing on TV).
There's also a second book by the real Rae Earl, which was published recently, covering the years 1990 and 1991. It goes a bit darker than the first book, but still full of laugh out loud moments. Quite an inspirational read overall. |

I'm obsessed...
that moment when she bitched about the girl in glasses happened to me one time when I was younger (I was bitching about someone behind me, I wasn't the pity party). |
