Hello and welcome to the eleventh edition of everyone's fifth favourite song contest! Earlier this year, the contest was won by Aly & AJ's Joan of Arc on the Dancefloor, but the winner of that contest cannot host this time so the baton is passed to me, and so I'm going to use this to plug my song there instead and it wasn't a BJSC veto so I win morally x

Anyway, this edition will be themed and I've decided to take us back to the past

(Definitely made that image myself promise x)

That's right, we're going retro. This is literally anything released before 2010 which gives you a plethora of styles and genres to work with, whether it's 2000s bubblegum pop, 1990s house pop, 1980s synth-pop, 1960s pop-soul, or even traditional pop from pre-1950s, the choice is yours, just make sure that the song is noticeably pop as a genre and isn't something that could be entered into the other genre contests (Nuggets, Unknown Pleasures, and Club Bizarre)

The general PFSC rules apply here (with the top 100 rule adjusted a bit to allow for easier access):

1. The song must not have reached the top 5 in the UK Singles chart. I will allow small top 10 or top 40 hits as it may be challenging otherwise with the age of the songs but don't take the mick, it needs to be a song that in your view, most on this forum wouldn't have heard of.
2. The Artist must not have an Artist Forum on Buzzjack. If you're going for a well-known artist, go for a lesser-known or low-charting song.
3. Any song that we feel is giving other songs an unfair advantage (eg, Sales) or somewhat fits the veto rules (popular on the forum) will still be vetoed.
4. For this contest, we are intrigued by artists that are perhaps not known outside of their own country. We want to discover the best of pop.
5. An artist will only get one entry per contest, so first come first served.
6. The song must not have been a top 20 hit in another song contest on the site. However, a song that has previously been entered into these contests may still be vetoed (Also, don't send a song you got vetoed with in a recent BJSC, sneaky cheater x).

I would also recommend checking this link to make sure your song has not been sent to the main Buzzjack Song Contest if you are not a regular participant there. It really would be better if there wasn't any crossover.

Confirm your entries using this google form

You have a week to get these in, so closing 15th August 23:59 BST, I will aim to get the voting thread up the next day.

Any questions please ask, otherwise, happy searching!

I've got two songs I could decide on for this. Unsure if they'll do well though but since its retro worth a shot.

Ooh ~

There is one song that's quickly come to mind for me but I think I will try and have a look for something else first and just keep that as a fallback.

Confirmed something I've been playing a lot recently that happens to fit the theme, I had a lot of possible choices but makes sense to pick something I'm currently enjoying.

I’m torn between about 15 entries. I’ve gone with one I had toyed with sending to BJSC several times. For now.

Would love to get some more pre-2000s entries in here! (Probably should've figured that would dominate lol x)
