Walking on Cars Waiting on the Corner - Chart Statistics NE (09/01/2019) | 25-24-22-26-27-32-38-46-42-49-53-63-76-73-72-78-100-xx Video Commentary Album tracks in my chart often debut at their peak and then fall away fairly quickly, leaving the singles as the main masterpieces. For some songs from the Walking on Cars album however, this just couldn't be the case as they remained solid favourites well past the release of the album and in some cases were even better than the singles. This song in particular is just so well-written, with how the lyrics are put together and how they are sung, plus the instrumental chorus, makes for a very good track which is much more than just another song on an album. Alec Benjamin Must Have Been the Wind - Chart Statistics NE (06/07/2019) | 43-35-25-25-33-51-59-43-48-46-55-60-72-76-83-81-63-59-79-81-100-xx Video Commentary This is a fairly odd one, as it peaked fairly low down my chart and only spent 4 weeks in my Top 40, at which this song was very firmly second to Alec's actual chart hit Let Me Down Slowly (let's just take a moment to squirm at how a guy who's in hit mid 20s and looks like he is has the voice of a 12 year-old). It was only as it kept popping up on my Spotify playlist that I realised how much of a masterpiece it is, as the song never seemed to get old, and of course the lyrics certainly play a part in it. I just never really wanted it to leave my chart, and even now it's a real delight to hear this again. Top 100 Chart History 2019 13 Let Me Down Slowly 2019 25 Must Have Been the Wind |

HAYES Where I Belong (ft. Nico & Vinz) - Chart Statistics NE (31/08/2019) | 14-11-9-8-11-13-19-26-38-48-75-82-86-96-xx Video Commentary Nico & Vinz had a fairly quiet year this year, their only release being this one with Norwegian actor-turned-producer HAYES (I believe this was his debut single?). I was hoping for this to be a dance song but alas it was not, it was good to hear Nico & Vinz' voices anyway, especially on something that wasn't massively urban, although I was never really mad for this song and I do feel like I probably would have ignored it if it wasn't Nico & Vinz. Come back with some proper Afro-beats guys! Top 100 Chart History HAYES 2019 09 Where I Belong (HAYES ft. Had a skim through your chart so far and 'The River' sounds like the best from what I've not heard already. I liked 'Here With Me' a bit although it fell off fast and won't be making my EOY. 'After Hours' didn't hit with me as much as M-22's other tracks, so basically the opposite to how they've performed in your chart. Glad you've given a few songs a listen, The River is a pretty solid track so glad you liked it! Interesting about M-22, I guess the others were a tad more generic for me but they were all still solid dance tracks (and the fact they were releasing summer bangers in winter didn't help). Thanks Dan! |

Blossoms Your Girlfriend - Chart Statistics NE (06/07/2019) | 28-24-16-19-21-20-27-28-28-29-32-47-64-69-87-xx Video Commentary Blossoms have had a good number of hits in my chart, but this is the first one to make my Top 100. It took me a few listens to really get into this as it's quite different to their usual style, however their new funky tune was too good to miss out on. It is just so good, and it's made their next track pale in comparison despite being just as good as some of their previous work. Your Girlfriend was quite good for Blossoms although they're still yet to have ever made my chart. Did eventually suffer from overplay on Radio X anyway (my parents have it on).

Hey Pete! Catching up~
Looking at your worst songs of the year - and I instantly recognised those Blueface people. Is that the same people that have a residency in Vegas? If so, they were performing at the hotel I stayed at there earlier this year lmao. If not, awkward oops. Good to see Piece of Your Heart in your honourable mentions *.* I'm not normally keen on all the dance stuff in the charts, but that one I found myself bopping along to in the car almost every day haha. Here With Me too Great countdown so far!! Lots of stuff I don't know, but will need to give the YouTube videos a watch/listen! |

I think moving away from home has meant I've not listened to Radio X in ages! (plus the fact my family are all fully converted to Spotify now). Thanks Dan! Hey Pete! I genuinely don't know about those people, I just searched 'blue face' and that's what came up Hope you do give some songs a listen, you might need to as there aren't any more songs that are as well known as the two you've mentioned Thanks Calum! |

Ofenbach Rock It - Chart Statistics NE (20/04/2019) | 9-9-10-7-9-24-27-35-53-80-xx RE (27/07/2019) | 83-93-xx Video Commentary This was Ofenbach's big offering this year, and it showed a grittier side to their production in quite a stark contrast to their two previous singles which had been 100% cheesy dance music. It caught me off guard initially but I soon learned to love it, and it stuck about for a while in the lower ends of the Top 10 before by absolutely slaughtered by the Eurovision takeover, otherwise they would certainly have had a lot more longevity (and I've bumped them up a bit here because of that) Top 100 Chart History 2017 04 Katchi (Ofenbach ft. RØMANS Oxygen - Chart Statistics NE (12/01/2019) | 65-45-35-20-20-20-21-24-24-34-47-56-73-71-94-87-xx Video Commentary ROMANS appear to have released a lot of songs I've not noticed but the one I'm listening to now sounds much more soul than dance. Fast forward a year and his (not their) other tracks have resonated me a lot more than I expected them to on first listen. This song's inclusion here is somewhat bittersweet as it became the soundtrack of being homesick during Term 2 of Uni when we were struggling to find houses and I wasn't able to sleep. The fact that this song is incredibly sad (and it's about someone not being there) didn't really help. Another case of the lower-peaking song sticking around longer here, as Important just missed the EOY Top 100. Top 100 Chart History 2018 02 Dancing Alone (Axwell /\ Ingrosso ft. Rat City Kind of Love (ft. I wasn't as enthusiastic to listen to their new music after their part in that atrocious cover of 'Down Under', and their new one with Kiesza sounds... well typical Kiesza and probably won't get very high in my chart. The Sherlocks NYC (Sing It Loud) - Chart Statistics NE (07/09/2019) | 17-10-7-9-16-13-17-23-34-54-65-71-83-100-xx Video Commentary I first heard this when The Sherlocks played it at Elland Road as one of five acts supporting Kaiser Chiefs for their special Leeds United gig. I then completely forgot about it until it was released, however it's a fab song and has managed to earn the band their first Top 10 hit. There isn't really anything particularly defining about this, it's just a really good song and I just wish they were a proper chart force! That's a shame, I get they might be a bit too much but they are one of my favourites at the moment. Thanks Dan! Literally only two crossovers for me so far, Alec Benjamin & Hot Chip! Unforts so far I've not been so taken with their latest album! Glad there's at least some crossover there! I can't say I've heard too much of the Hot Chip album, I liked what I heard but it didn't stand out to me massively - thanks Jupiter! |

Victor Crone Storm - Chart Statistics NE (25/05/2019) | 3-6-7-11-20-34-29-31-38-47-57-72-82-87-94-xx Video Commentary Our second Eurovision track in our countdown, this was Estonia's offering this year (except the guy was actually from Sweden and doesn't seem to have any link to Estonia). This is the definition of an absolute pop banger, I heard a little bit of it before the contest but was completely blown away when I heard it in full. Initially I thought it would fall away fairly quickly, however every time I listened to it it continued to hit me, hence extending its run in the Top 40. Much better than the actual Swedish entry anyway. Top 100 Chart History 2019 03 Storm |

This song brings real 80s vibes into a modern-day indie track, giving me a song I couldn't get enough of. When it scraped my Top 40 I really didn't see it spending much longer there but it ended up having a very decent run, and as usual I've just noticed that he/they have released two songs since this that I ignored. Oops (again). Top 100 Chart History 2019 19 Ellipsis |

This song is infectiously catchy, and whilst the music video is fairly lacking (what have the skeletons got to do with anything) this song really deserves a listen.
