I'll be surprised if Saara isn't eliminated this week sad.gif

Posted by: Liаm 30th November 2016, 09:03 PM

I'd be surprised if she WAS personally, the rebound vote won't matter for 5am so I'd say them or Emily.

Posted by: Danvember 30th November 2016, 09:16 PM

I really think it'll be 5AM leaving, unless they really pull something out of the bag.

Posted by: pippa 1st December 2016, 03:34 PM

Emily is who i would like to see leave. That said, once Zarra stays i will be happy with the result as i think she is wonderful.

Posted by: Hadji 1st December 2016, 04:05 PM

I hope it's Emily and Saara in the bottom two but I reckon it will be 5AM and Saara in the bottom two

Emily to LEAVE this Sunday please God! drama.gif

She's so annoying, I hate her style of singing. wacko.gif

Posted by: pippa 1st December 2016, 09:25 PM

There is no bottom 2 this week, am i correct, its just the person with the lowest votes goes.

I want Emily to leave but she has the advantage as all the Scottish who watch will vote for her.

In contrast this is where someone like Sarra will fall down.

That said, i hope Sarra has another fantastic performance and pull in the flexible voters.

No they got rid of that around Series 7 (Despite announcing the semi final first show that bottom was going). When it came to the Sunday, with Cher bottom of the vote, it was suddenly a bottom 2 to get rid of Mary, having already got Will.I.AM to be there for a duet for Cher.

In previous years they had started going to just the public vote about 2 or 3 weeks before the final.

This way they have much more control in who get into the final.

Posted by: Ryan. 1st December 2016, 10:04 PM

Slight worry is that Saara has been filming at the Finnish Embassy this week, and the so-called "Embassy VT" for foreign acts (Andrea, 4th Impact) has been associated with their respective eliminations.

That said, I feel like Finland has been thrust in everyone's faces enough anyway so I can't see another Finnish reiteration will be any more harmful than Saara speaking Finnish to her family that she misses at home (week 7 I believe) and she was still fine then.

On the positive side, Finnish TV have made a deal with Syco/ITV to broadcast the semi-final and final completely live - they have been showing it on delay in previous weeks. I doubt Finnish TV will want to broadcast a live final with Saara in it so hopefully that is a good omen for her.

This is SERIOUS BUSINESS!

Interesting snippets of info from Brian Friedman is that in week 7 he planned to have some strange dancers on stage for My Heart Will Go On but Sharon scrapped them thankfully. Yet on the other hand Sharon wanted The Winner Takes It All to go upbeat for the latter half of the song (like the original but more so) but Brian and Saara convinced "her" to let Saara do it all ballad and with piano. Two amazing performances could have suffered from overproduction there.

Posted by: Ryan. 1st December 2016, 10:16 PM

I was talking to my workmate earlier who I presume hasn't seen much of this series and wanted me to describe to her who is in the final 4. She had no idea who "early guy in his 20s Matt" or "Scottish girl with guitar Emily" was but "Finnish girl called Saara" did ring a bell to which the response was "oh wow is she still in it?" *.*

Posted by: Serg Mix 1st December 2016, 10:55 PM

Emily has to leave on Sunday or she may be one of the worst finalists ever.

Posted by: Adam 2nd December 2016, 04:15 PM

I disagree.. I think in 'Creep' and 'Human' Emily has had some of the absolute highlights of the entire series (this is excluding Ex's and Oh's and Master Blaster, back before Simon decided her best ally, her guitar, should go, which will always baffle me) . Obviously Saara has had LOADS that are up there. Matt has been very hit and miss but 'Writing's On The Wall' and 'You Don't Own Me' are also some of my favourites.

It's 5AM I couldn't justify having an amazing, memorable performance, it's all the same and it's all mediocre, with only one real voice between them. For me they have to go.

That said, not keen on Emily's song choices for the weekend ..

Posted by: Aquamaqueesha 2nd December 2016, 04:18 PM

Emily has all the range of a dead pigeon.

Posted by: Qween 2nd December 2016, 11:36 PM

Now, now, I'm sure someone with a strong throwing arm could lob a dead pigeon quite far. I'm not sure how far you could lob Emily, but the answer will always be NOT FAR ENOUGH.

Posted by: Qween 3rd December 2016, 08:08 PM

East 17 didn't really make it STATESIDE so no real surprise. Far less egregious than Simon not knowing One Sweet Day back in the day.

I did actually quite enjoy that, her voice is far nicer when she sings on the breathe like that.

I do think there needs to be some light and shade though and she just doesn't have the power to do that, and therefore every performance comes across a bit pathetic.

Posted by: Dobbo 3rd December 2016, 08:58 PM

Utterly sensational. It wasn't even her best vocal performance in my opinion (it's tough to ever beat Winner Takes It All) but the sheer emotion in those vocals, the song's production, the staging - absolutely unbelievable! I really can't call the bottom 2 actually, I think only Saara is definitely safe! Matt really was underwhelming tonight, he feels very sabotaged I think - criticism, generally not exciting performances and terrible running order slots for the entire series.

Posted by: Qween 3rd December 2016, 09:46 PM

I really don't see anyone other than Emily leaving tomorrow. A surprise Matt being bottom 2 wouldn't SHOCK me, but I think it's more likely to be 5AM. Basically Saara is safe in my mental planning of this. Feels weird to write that.

Just put 60 quid on Matt, I'll get 180 back if he wins. I like taking a risk tongue.gif

Posted by: torresgirl 3rd December 2016, 09:56 PM

Saara is going to win my friends. Cowell has that look on is face where he had a favoured winner (Matt) and has realised it has gone to the dogs and there is nothing he can do about it.

If she doesn't win it will be a travesty.

Emily just has to go, for once i agree with Louis Walsh, its the same thing every single week.

Saara just has to win, i think she is excellent, i haven't got behind a contestant so much in years and as i live in Ireland and its shown on tv3 here we cant vote which is so annoying.

Posted by: Serg Mix 3rd December 2016, 11:56 PM

I missed it, but lemme guess Saara took the wigs and Matt & Emily were abysmal and 5AM just relied on backing vocals?

No lies detected. This sums it up.

Saara was sensational.

I couldn't hear Emily at all, those kids swallowed her vocals, I'm screaming.

Posted by: Serg Mix 4th December 2016, 12:36 AM

Poor Jessie, what a way to completly butcher a song, that was awful.

Posted by: Ryan. 4th December 2016, 01:04 AM

Sofabet, for all their overanalysing (which has gone a bit too far in recent weeks imo), did point out something interesting. Dermot apparently said at the beginning of week 7 that 3 different acts have topped the vote, now by the beginning of week 9 that has gone up to 4 acts.

Therefore someone new has topped the vote in either week 7 or week 8. I think we all assume Matt was winning the majority of the early weeks, and Emily's breakout moment was surely Creep - at least more so than anything she's done in week 7 or 8. So her vote topping must have been week 4. We then had the ambiguous clue of something like "two different acts had been top of the vote that have never been top before" in week 6. We all presumed this was therefore between Honey G, 5AM and Saara.

At the end of the day, we know Matt would have won the early weeks so which of these could have given an act their first vote topper:

Emily - It Must Have Been Love or Toxic/Human
5AM - Try A Little Tenderness only (can't have been them week 8 as bottom 2)
Saara - My Heart Will Go On or The Winner Takes It All/Diamonds Medley

I can't see either of Emily's being her first vote topper as her momentum was greatest between weeks 3 and 5 imo.
Will 5AM really have had such a sudden vote dip? It feels like their most likely vote topper was Spice Girls, but could it have been them being referred to in the week 6 clue?
Saara's momentum is obviously in full swing right now and week 8 saw her sudden odds change, if she won any week you'd assume it was week 8. It'd have been quite something for her to win week 6 from slot one, after being bottom 2 previous week.

My theory using this variety of clues is that the following won these weeks:

Express Yourself, Motown, Divas: Matt (Emily consistently top 3)
Fright Night: Emily
Boy/Girlbands: 5AM
Disco: Honey (Saara second)
Movies: Matt (Saara second)
Louis Loves: Saara (Matt second, Emily third)

That's fairly believable and fits all the clues, only issue is could Honey really have won Disco week? In the days after Disco week, papers did "leak" Honey to be the new vote topper - so perhaps it was true after all? We also have to factor in why they chose this week to say every contestant has topped the vote. If Saara had won Movies then all 5 would've topped the vote before the quarter final, so it suggests she must have won week 8. Therefore she does potentially have the momentum.

Oops that's another overly long analysis from me, do enjoy!

EDIT: Oh no my theory is FOILED as that renders the week 7 clue false, damn it's too complicated!!!

I think

Matt won every week except Fright Night where Emily won then 5AM won Disco with Honey G being 2nd, they were never top 2 as Matt/Emily had top 2 until that week, then Matt back for Movies and Saara taking control on Louis Loves

This year is a rehash of 2008. It will be 5 Against Midnight vs Saara for the win, with Saara now being Ruth Lorenzo AND Alexandra in one. However as 2016 likes to turn things on its head this time it will be the band Five Against Midnight which will triumph and win.

Also, I see lots of talk of #MOMENTUUUM!!!

The show was broadcasted live here in Finland for the first time and loved to see Saara delivering! She's awesome. Funny to think how far she's come because all her ESC entries have been quite bad. X Factor has been a great school for her.

Posted by: Liаm 4th December 2016, 03:20 PM

01 Saara - Chandelier (flawless, incredible, effortless. Both this and The a Winner Takes It All will go down as two of my all time faves, I can't heap enough praise on her)
02 Saara - All I Want For Chrisrmas (exactly what the Christmas section needed, an actual fun Christmas song imbued with joy and of course performed impeccably as always)
03 Matt - Silent Night (a nice and competent enough carol performance but this is where the equality dives lmao)
04 Emily - Mad World (as far as generic Emily performances go, this was enjoyable)
05 5 After Midnight - Signed, Sealed, Delivered (just about average which is stratospheric by their standards)
06 5 After Midnight - Stay Another Day (they cannot sing ballads lmao. Well they just can't sing)
07 Emily - War Is Over (a tragic attempt at this song by being buoyed by the child choir)
08 Matt - Say You Love Me (I found that absolutely painful, the magic of that song is Jessie's voice being so smooth and soulful, but he shouted all over it which is ironic given how he was far too restrained on Sia last week....)

This was the first time I watched any performances of this year's contestants and oh my god, Saara is so ahead of everyone else, to say it's ridiculous would be an understatement.

Matt is just a pretty One Direction face. Emily is bland as f***. I mean she could've just opened the mouth without singing anything and the children choir would've done all the work for her. Ughhh how the hell was she never in the bottom 3?!? f*** off love. And don't even get me started on the cheesy cliché 5AM. Go back to 1997. Backstreet's back! ALRIGHT!

Posted by: gooddelta 4th December 2016, 09:25 PM

I think I said just before the live shows that I couldn't see Emily winning (despite her leading the odds with Matt consistently) because she fit the '4th place quirky female' quota down to a tee. And 4th it is!

The same thing always happens with these acts, like Diana Vickers/Janet Devlin etc...they have one routine and flog it to death and it gets a bit stale just before the crucial point of making the final, even though they always get hyped to win and have a 'moment' about halfway through the lives.

Anyway, I don't mind her but I think it's the right final for sure. I'd so love Saara to win, I'm not sure if she'd really be commercially huge though? I could see her doing well in the West End or being a big TV personality for sure but she's a bit Sam Bailey-esque in terms of streaming prospects. I hope if she wins her single doesn't tank as hard as Forever Young but I would imagine it wouldn't sell in large quantities.

Posted by: Cameron 4th December 2016, 09:43 PM

It would be a bit shit having Robbie as Saara's duet partner seeing as he wasn't very keen on her at Judges Houses

Posted by: Ryan. 4th December 2016, 09:45 PM

5AM and Fleur reprising Uptown Funk definitely makes sense, but I'm not sure about the other two. Saara could potentially get Louisa Johnson perhaps, and Matt could get Nicole. Or if they get someone better for Matt then Nicole could be used for Saara using the "wildcard" angle to justify it.

I doubt it'll be anyone from far outside the X Factor Family though.

Oh HELL no, I might have to stop listening to his music if he lowered himself to that (I wouldn't kink.gif)

It would be good to see artists that haven't been guest acts yet perform the collabs, always seems so lazy when they wheel back RandomGuestNo3 from week 2 of the Lives...

5AM and Busted? kink.gif

Yeah give them Busted, it would be a stretch for it to be worse than On What You're On but they can try!!

If Sia is performing on the final, can she duet with Saara please?

Sia and Sarra would be a great duet.

Cher Lloyd finished fourth place too. angel.gif

I'm predicting:

Saara and Sia
Matt and Ed Sheeran
5 AM and Little Mix ohmy.gif

I feel like it's more likely that Little Mix would perform with Matt, given contestants often perform songs they've done previously on the live shows and he did Little Mix's song which is a duet with Jason Derulo. It fits perfectly. I find always find the idea of two groups performing together a bit clunky and awkward.

Yeah, please no Little Mix with 5AM

Is Sia confirmed though, I just feel its a bit rushed since Saara performed Chandelier over the weekend, it would be an amazing performance if they do get Sia for the final, they could have Saara wearing a wig like Sia (a lampshade) biggrin.gif

I think Sia's just wishful thinking at this point tongue.gif She's probably too big of a name for the show these days - outside of Bruno and Gaga, they've struggled to get huge stars over the past couple of years.
