Figure Skating note GB Duo Ashlie Slatter & Atl Ongay-Perez won bronze in the Ice Dance at the Youth Olympics. Great comeback for them; a fall meant they were 7th after the Rhythm Dance. Guess there will be an element of wondering 'what if' but great resilience to put in a strong Free Dance.

Russian Kamila Valieva's four-year doping ban "has brought some justice to the clean sport movement", says US figure skater Evan Bates.
Medals were not awarded at the team event at the 2022 Winter Olympics after Valieva, then 15, failed a doping test. Her ban was confirmed on Monday and her results nullified, meaning Russia were demoted from gold to bronze. "For the legacy of clean sport, this is a landmark case," said Bates, who with the US team has been promoted to gold. |

Great Britain's Charlotte Bankes produced a stunning finish to win her first snowboard cross gold of the World Cup season in Gudauri, Georgia.
Bankes, 28, was in last place after a slow start, but came through to beat France's Chloe Trespeuch on the line. Australia's Belle Brockhoff was third on Sunday. "This is a massive team effort to come away with a victory after some tough times," said 2023 overall champion Bankes |

Ah well done to her! Haven't been keeping up with the Cross sports too much but that must be a boost for her - hopefully she can build her form for the next Winter Olympics in a couple of years as the last one must've been pretty frustrating for her.

Bizarre scenes in Chamonix a few days ago with Daniel Yule finishing the first run in 30th, making him the opening skiier in the second run, and then going on to win the thing! The warm weather must've played a part though with so many of the skiiers in the second run losing so much time.

Matt Weston earned Britain's first overall World Cup men's skeleton title in 16 years after finishing joint-fourth in the season's final event.
Weston pipped Germany's Christopher Grotheer to gold on the last day of the contest in Lake Placid, United States. "I wasn't expecting this at all but it's an amazing feeling," he said. The title is won by the athlete who secures the most points across eight World Cup races in Asia, Europe and North America. Weston, 27, thought he would have to settle for silver behind Grotheer again - like he did last season - with his rival leading by 75 points after seven races. |

Well done to him! Sounds like we're getting back onto form in the Skeleton then after struggling at the last Winter Olympics.
